Our favourite place to eat the sushi is amazing and the pad Thai is gorgeous staff are so lovely typing this im not hungry for SW9

Been here many times and ordered from them too and its always delicious and so well priced. The place is unassuming but has a lovely charm and feels very authentic. The staff are wonderful, particularly the lovely Spanish ladies, they are always pleasant and attentive. Was surprised to see it only has 3 stars on here because it deserves more like 5. Particular favourites are the tofu steak (perhaps the best cooked tofu I've ever had), pad thai (again one of my best), katsu and tom yum. If you are considering going here, do not hesitate because you will not be disappointed.

great chicken katsu curry lovely staff and i even offered to teach the young lady English winner winner chicken katsu dinner definitely recommend ehat u get as a take away u get in the restaurant glad its my local and reasonably priced no more wagamama for me

This is a no frills affordable local restaurant. The tom yum soup is a must and the sushi is fantastic, freshly made and very tasty. Other starters are great, such as the tofu, gyoza and tempura. The mains are fine, not quite as awesome as everything else. Service is good and friendly.

Belle découverte a 2 pas, nous avons été surpris que le restaurant ne soit pas bondé. Les sushis étaient bien préparés, le menu et assez élaboré et les soupes sont excellentes. Tout est frais, ce qui doit être croquant est croquant, ce qui doit être froid est froid et les plats chauds sont très chauds. Les sushis sont bons, mais les soupes sont a tomber par terre, chaud, goûteux, savoureux et généreuses. Malheureusement le service laisse un peu a désirer, une fois notre plat reçu, plus personne en salle, j'aurais aimé ajouter un truc a mon repas, je n'ai revu le personnel en salle qu'a la fin du repas.....

I love this small local unpretentious sushi bar. The food is the main event here and it's fabulous. Very reasonably priced, but don't expect a plush restaurant.It's cosy and basic as far as decor goes, but does that matter when you're getting great food.

I went here a few years ago and it was pretty appalling. However, after it's been done up we decided to give it another go. The result was a very pleasant surprise. The Sushi was very well made and quite delicious, the beef teriyaki was also well made and had a good flavour. The biggest surprise however was the Tom Yum soup, this really did taste like authentic Tom Yum and the green tea was also good, wine slightly average.

We were recommended to try this place and were not disappointed. Nagiri sushi, spring rolls, teriyaki salmon ... all good. Reasonable prices. Nice service. Simple, unfussy decor. A good place to drop in and enjoy good food.

This place is quirky and relaxed. I'm not sure it is really a place for couples, but great for friends and takeaways. The set lunch menu is really good here if you want something cheap. However, it is not always very fast on service.

Have been a lot, service is awful, but then its pretty cheap. However, had the mixed pad thai and got the worst food poisoning i have ever had. I went in to the restaurant two days later and spoke to the manager to explain and he just told me "it was their most popular dish" couldn't have cared less. I will never eat here again.

The staff here are uncaring and inattentive at best and callous and belligerent at worst. They made us wait for an hour for food and then yelled at us when we complained.

I live nearby and this is my go to for last minute food (quicker and cheaper than if I order in). Popped in and ordered salmon hand roll which was fresh and generous enough amount of salmon. Prawn pad thai for reasonable price had 9 decent sized prawns, not really enough bean sprouts. Large portion. Food came very quickly and service polite and we'll spoken. The only reason I don't give it full marks is the atmosphere is a bit stark possibly as rather empty most times I've been. I will be back!

What a insult to Japanese food. The staff are really nice at this place but the food is awful. I would really avoid it.

Came here for dinner. The place is a little basic and you are seated on wooden stools which weren't as uncomfortable as I feared they might be. We ordered the meat dumplings as a starter and were told they would be chicken. When we got them I was disappointed to note the dumplings had been deep friend, so rather than the lovely softness I had expected to receive with this dish, I got a crunchy and greasy outer layer. Even more of a surprise when we bit into them and they were seafood! Now we don't mind seafood, but the owners should be really careful because if anyone really didn't like seafood or was even allergic they could have had a real problem. Hubby ordered a noodle dish which was around £6.50 and although the portions look normal, when you start eating them you realise they are actually very big. He said it was like having an extra lovely chow mein dish, albeit really, really salty. I had the pad thai and it was nice but very spicy which I don't mind but I am not used to with this dish and it meant I couldn't share it with the hubby who is not a fan of heat, and it was quite dry. We had a can of pop each for £1.50 per can. There is a language barrier with the waitress who I believe may be Portuguese as I think they were speaking Spanish, but if she really struggles they send someone else to help so that shouldn't put you off. The visit was find but not a place we would rush back to.

I visit this restaurant a lot and every time the service is terrible. They clearly don't care at all about their customers, about how long food takes to arrive, or even if their waitresses can communicate in English. Do yourself a favor, stay away.

it doesn't really matter if the food is good or not because you will never received it. Ordered it at 19.30, we have been told it would be 1 h delivery time...now is 21.40 and no trace of food. We tried to call the restaurant but they first pretend not to understand what we were saying and then just told us the food was 'on its way'...this was 30 minutes ago...and still counting.

We were actually looking for a different place but ended up here. It was nice, calm restaurant with not bad quality food and breathtaking (well, to me, anyway) plum wine. I wish I could have taken bottle back home. Or 10. It would be slightly more helpful if waitress's English was better but we have communicate so it was okay. The portions of ramen we've ordered were nice surprise. The also offered us to take what we haven't finished to go but we had to refuse on this occasion as we wouldn't be able to carry it around with us.

Not too bad. Not the best. Conveniently situated near to tube station. Not sure I'd be there again anytime soon though.

The Sushi Rolls were really great, but I am not sure whether I ordered a 'not so good meal' for lunch. It was a pork dish, but I think many Thai restaurants out there has more tasty pork meals than what I had here. Probably I should have had something very Japanese instead.The place became very crowdy by the lunch time. Therefore, I started to believe that this place should be a good place.Their Sushi rolls were really good. Therefore, I assume that their real Japanese dishes should be tasty. I rated this place based on the only pork dish I chose. It was not that good, and they probably should get rid of 'not so good' type of dishes, if this is a real Japanese food place, leaving a few strong precise choices for the new customers.

I wouldn't recommend any of the meals at this place at all. The food is below standard for a sushi place. Their salmon is clearly cheap and the cuts are not value for money. I live locally and was happy when they opened but very disappointed now I've eaten here. What I will say though is the staff are very friendly which is why I gave 2 stars

I have been going to SW9 for my lunch 3 times a week. The food is amazing, friendly staff and a 5star chef. I love the fact that the food is always fresh. I highly recommend SW9

We work round the corner so we decided to go for lunch. They told us they are not serving sushi as they are busy, which is rather shocking as they are a sushi bar. we then ordered the lunch time noodles and it was not very nice at all. What a waste of money. We were all disappointed bar one colleague who said the chicken teriyaki was good. I would strongly avoid. Nice staff though.

There aren't a lot of restaurants in this area so SW9 Sushi Bar is one of the few places you can sit down and get lunch. I'd walked past this restaurant a fair few times and it never looked appealing enough to go inside (brown exterior) but some work colleagues were going so I decided to give it a shot. Ordered the sushi set menu for £6.50, the sushi took over half an hour to get to us... Perhaps they'd just got in some fresh salmon? (Unlikely). When the sushi arrived it wasn't that fresh and definitely the cheap cuts, but you did get 2 nigir and 10 salmon/cucumber rolls so I guess a lot of bang for your buck? Miso soup that accompanied the set menu was lukewarm and I've had a lot better. My colleagues had Japanese curries, yaki soba and other noodle dishes and they looked more appealing. I'm undecided if I'd come here again - I'd definitely not come here for sushi as I think you can get better sushi from Sainsbury's or Waitrose! I might give one of their curries or noodle dishes a try though. It's just a real shame that there aren't any decent restaurants on Brixton Road area.

A nice little sushi bar serving fresh and tasty sushi as well as hot food. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is light and airy.

Ordered a takeaway and the man was unbelievably rude whilst taking the order. Took over an hour to be delivered and then we realised things were left off and overcharged by £20. We rang back and the man denied it all and was even ruder than before. He then hung up, leaving us £20 short and without the food. Appalling service.

I live nearby and go there regularly. soup noodles and teriyaki chicken and Oyagodon ( chicken with mixed egg and veg on rice) are most ordered items for me. They r quite nice and good portions. Not too sure about sushi . Have not been really that keen to order it . Overall it's a nice basic place to have some decent quick Japanese food in the area .

The sushi arrived way too quickly and was very dry, which meant it had been sitting around a while waiting/hoping to be ordered. In a restaurant that has the word 'sushi' in the title but not the word 'train', you expect it to be fresh.Standard local Japanese restaurant fare of yakisoba and katsu don were better but had a preheated feel to them.They have a commercial radio station playing crap early 2000s pop tunes, which made the indifferent service even more pronounced.Takeaway only.

I've been ordering from them for years and the food was mostly good. At some point I started noticing that the price of the order was higher than what I came up with based on their menu. Then one day I ordered only 2 dishes and again was handed a bill higher than expected. I challenged the delivery man about the amount he was asking but he was unable to understand a word a said so he rang the manager/owner who turned out to be an incredibly rude and obnoxious woman. I tried to explain to her, that I was looking at their menu on their website as we spoke, and I was being overcharged to which she stated that they changed their menu a while back. I suggested gat it might be worth it to update their menu online and she said that that was the price so 'take it or leave it'! I paid the delivery man what I thought wad the right amount and closed the door, he didn't seem to have realised or decided not to come knocking for the rest. It wasn't much, 50p per item but should have never happened. And as I visited the website a few weeks after, it showed same prices as they've always been! Incredible! They didn't even bother to change the prices after this incident, which only shows that they never changed them in the first place and only decided to overcharge customers.Another downside making orders fifth delivery over the phone. The person on the line barely speaks English and spelling out our address every time, where all other places know you just by checking your phone number, is really painful.Not good guys, needless to say I won't be using them again and by your penny grabbing, stinking attitude u have lost a customer who had been buying from you since 2010!!!

I really like the food here, it's good value and delicious. However I just called to get some takeaway delivered to an address 3 miles away, which it says they do online, but I was told it was too far to go for £11! I understand the need to make money, but if you stipulate that delivery is free to within 3 miles as long as it's over £10, it should be.I was told they had other takeaway orders that were more important, which is incredibly poor service. Hmmm.

Don't really understand the bad reviews of this place. I'm lucky enough to live round the corner, so regularly pop in for a bite. They do the best pad thai I've had outside of Thailand! My boyfriend has spicy yakisoba which he also loves. In fairness we are not big sushi eaters so always go for the noodle options, but the food is such good value and really tasty. Do visit if you're in the area!

I have had plenty of sushi from this place over the last year and a half. It has been very good at times, and the quality of the sushi is usually good. The staff, however, are not very friendly and have frequently got my order wrong. One time I had to call up and actually argue with a lady there, who seemed irritated about me getting a wrong roll and informing them. Also the last time I got a takeaway the fish wasn't very fresh and I felt a bit nauseous the next day. Additionally two sushi rolls were missing from my order (yet I paid for them). Not great.... I am reluctant to go back now!

Sushi was well below average, the fish not being very fresh, the dumplings were pre-made/frozen and overly greasy. Very poor value and quality. The place was empty and the service lacklustre. Will not be returning.

This little restaurant does some great lunch offers, which fill you up at a good price. The staff are friendly, the place is clean. It would be appreciated if there was a vegetarian section on the menu. They are able to adapt dishes, but I feel it'd make sense to advertise the fact Red curry is particularly good

I go here regulary. I do like it a lot, however it annoys me how I go in intending on having a £7 meal and end up paying £11. The reason being that they charge you for any alteration to the food. So if you ask for something that isn't exactly as it is on the menu they will throw a pound or two on top of the cost, even if it costs less to them to make the alteration. It's like when you go into any restaurant and order a meal that comes with chip and you say "can I have potatoes or rice instead of the chips" - usually a restaurant will do that free of charge but not this one. The waiter/waitress includes a 10% service charge in every bill so they try and get the price up - I find it very annoying. But other than that the food is good. Although I wish they would invest in better seats.

Took my time before taking the plunge and ordering, but very glad to have their acquaintance.Have ordered take-out more often than have dined in, but the quality of the food and service has been excellent on all occasions. The restaurant has been in residence for a couple of years now and seems to be establishing a loyal following amongst local residents.
