"Mmmmmmm ¿Has probado esto?

I have used Fujiyama for takeaway before and was very impressed with their sushi. I was just as impressed when I visited the restaurant, sushi was fresh, tasty and the staff were all very polite and welcoming. Will definitely return.

Big fan of this place - the service was a little slow on Sunday due to being understaffed, but apart from that can't complain. No thrills, tasty, Japanese fare. The ramen is pure comfort food.

I used to go to Fujiyama years ago, it was one of my favourite places in Brixton. I was in that area for a meeting so I decided to go there with a friend sure to have a proper Japanese food. We have started with a Fujiyama platter, then two different kinds of noodles, udon and yaki soba with seafood. Yaki soba had just a couple of prawns and a little piece of squid. This is definitely not a Japanese restaurant. Quality is really poor and taste is not Japanese. A waiter went out to smoke a cigarette by the door, this is not a Japanese way to work..The room is really cold and the door continues to remain open, allow the cold to come in. Not recommended!

Really bad service (food really delayed as clearly forgotten) and the worst Japanese food I've eaten when it did come out... Gyoza was undercooked, rubbery and tasted terrible. The chicken pieces was burnt and chewy. The tempura was greesy and most of what was on the plate was just flour and oil!! Don't waste your money here.... Even McDonalds is better than this place!!!

I didn't really wan to visit this place as the reviews in here were so bad, but my friend was recommending it to me so I thought I would give it a try. We have never tried worse miso ramen soup ever! We actually have never tried worse food ever! Me and my boyfriend we have tried so many different ramens in various restaurants and we never got so disappointed. Not even disappointed.... we couldn't even eat it so first time in my life we gave back plates to kitchen and left without paying. The "vegetarian" one smelt of dirty old meat bones and surprisingly my boyfriends salmon one smelt the same. The smell and the taste actually made as sick after first spoon. I have never seen ramen that looks so poor and there were barely any vegetables in. The noodle was terrible as well, like the cheapest uncooked noodle. At the end we had two spoons forcing ourself to try to like it and then we left. Shocking! We are so surprised that this place actually still exist.

I went for an early dinner a couple of weeks ago. I live locally and as I was looking for some good sushi places around the area I decided to try New Fujiama. I ordered a sushi platter with miso soup. I have to admit that I was not blown away from the food I had and for the all experience. Just acceptable standard sushi but nothing really to rave about. Service although courteous was lacking of attentiveness as some of the food was forgotten and on occasions no servers were on sight. But they were still charming and polite hence the third star;) I don't think is a place I will be returning anytime soon but perhaps in the future I may give it another go and try something else they have on the menu.

We ordered delivery from this place & received it promptly. The Yasai soba was very good, great flavours and texture however the beef chilli men was terrible. Noodles where like spaghetti and with some bland tomato sauce on top of the beef strips. It was really bad and therefore I would not recommend this place for this dish. This is the top sushi restaurant you can find in Brixton. We go there to celebrate little and big successes with our family and we all love it and have our favorite dish. They have recently redecorated the room -but the chef remains the same. We always try the sushi sashimi combo dinner and udon noodles. The service is quick even on busy hours. They also do delivery but we are close enough to go there so no opinion on that.

We went to Fujiyama on a busy Saturday night and were lucky enough to get a table. We've been coming here for a number of years now and the food never disappoints and is very reasonably priced. Unfortunately the service last night let them down as our drinks were forgotten, so in the end we just went without as it took so long to attract a waiter's or waitress's attention. The main course for one of us was also forgotten, and again it was so difficult to attract someone's attention so we ended up paying the bill and leaving. I can understand that it's difficult when a restaurant is busy, and the waitress apologised for the mistake when the bill was brought over, but surely a waitress would question that there were only two mains for three people? I love this restaurant, but would only be happy to return if the order taking process was a little more organised.

Dreadful food, over priced, abominable service, waiter stank of BO, tried to overcharge us. First and last time. The worst experience ever. The worst aspect of this lousy experience was the complete disinterest of the staff who didn't even acknowledge us at first ( with hindsight we should have just left immediately) and then had to be dragged begrudgingly away from chatting together to serve us. They have the cheek to include a 10% service charge on the bill. As a Brixton local I am ashamed of this place and that it manages to survive. Avoid at all costs.

Came here with friends at 9.30pm on a Thursday evening. We were rushed to make an order, later explaining that the Kitchen would be taking last orders soon.Food was very nice, and noodles were fantastic, however we ate our food with the staff waiting in their coats and chatting at the table at the front and some smoking outside. We couldn't really enjoy our meal and ended up rushing through it as we felt that we needed to get out. And it was only 10.15pm (surprising in London).Probably wont be back because of the service.

We went to Fujiyama as we were wanting a relatively cheap dinner. Looked at the menu online and thought it was for us. As my partner said "there's a reason it's priced like this". The food was not good. We got karrage chicken and veggie gyoza for entree and both were average. The gyoza was doughy and the chicken was dry and lacked flavor. For main we ordered chicken chilli men and yaki niku don. The meals were basic. Again lacked flavor but they were edible. Service was also almost non existent. This does not both us too much but it definitely did not have a warm atmosphere. With lots of choices of restaurants in the area, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Have been to this place couple of times and I would recommend if you do not build expectation for the best sushi in town. They are good, however, they are not honest and respectful to the customers; their close time is 23:00 and they try to kick you out from 10. The first time I was there they literally brought us the bill and card machine when we were just having our starters! I had to go back to this place just last week as friends were meeting at the market for dinner, everyone were starving and we all forgot that market is shut on Mondays!

Have been going to this local Brixton institution for years, but our visit on 1st Jan 2016 left A LOT to be desired. Staff were fairly rude and there was a twenty minute wait between mine and my wife's main dishes coming out. Absolutely horrible and we aren't particularly fussy eaters, the only thing that was okay was the tempura vegetables and even that was a bit soggy. Fujiyama used to be an amazing local Japanese restaurant with attentive staff, decent food and very good sushi.I hadn't visited for over a year but I think they must be under new management (as suggested in other disappointed reviewers below).Poor table service who got our order wrong (one of the diners was allergic to a particular fish and asked for a substitution, told it would be fine but nothing had been substituted when the food arrived). The waiters also didn't seem to know the menu very well and were confused when we asked for some simple dishes. The staff tried to put us off ordering, saying they would be closing at 11. The food was not up to the old standard - soup over salty and fewer ingredients (new menu vague about ingredients). They brought the bill unasked as we were just starting to eat and put the 'Closed' sign up at just after 10 to 11. Visited this place on a recommendation made by a friend. The three of us thought we should go here before heading out to the Brixton Academy later on that evening. The seating arrangement is communal, that is, you're sat next to people you don't know. Some people are funny about, some aren't.The staff were attentive and were happy to answer the questions that I had (hope I didn't come across like an ignoramus). They took our order and the drinks arrived promptly. The food, on the other hand, came out a bit sporadic but that was OK as we weren't really in any rush as it meant that we could all catch up over conversation whilst waiting for the food.I ordered the 'Crazy Dragon Rolls' which were beautifully presented and really delicious. I love eel and this was just what I was looking for. So full of yum!The started we ordered weren't that great. There was a selection of tempura, which was cooked really well as I find that there are many places that just get it so so wrong but the gyoza were not great. It was very oily but my friend did advise that it has been better in past.Overall, we had a really good time. There is a friendly atmosphere there and the food, overall, is pretty good. It's another restaurant to consider if you don't want to be in the Market or along Brixton's main high st.

I ordered the Oyakodon which is meant to be a bowl of fluffy Japanese rice topped with a silky topping of beaten egg and chicken pieces. (The egg is only just cooked and so should be slightly gooey)I've had the dish a few times elsewhere and so when the rice bowl turned up looking like none of the ones I've had before... I knew it wasn't going to be the real deal. The rice bowl I had was just drenched in a soy based soup/sauce (I've never had an Oyakodon in soup). I couldn't finished it because it was just too salty. Barely any egg in it and the little egg I found, I couldn't taste because it was soaked in soy. The whole thing was just disappointing.Luckily I had ordered some sushi to start, otherwise I would've gone hungry. The sushi was ok... But I've definitely had much better elsewhere for the same price range. Would not be coming again.

Not many Japaneese restaurants in London have affordable prices but definitely Fukuyama does. This is only one good feature but the most remarkable is the food quality and freshness of all ingredients. With a wide variety of traditional dishes, this restaurant is a must. In addition, the service is fast and very professional. Needless to say that it is located in one of the coolest boroughs in London.

I live in Brixton and am a regular visitor to Fujiyama. I used to come here a lot, because the food is good, fresh, honest and cheap, and the service is good. But I think the ownership or management has changed in recent months. I was there tonight, and the service has really taken a dive. I waited more than half an hour for a bowl of noodles, and with no apology. The food, when it arrived, was OK, but just seemed to not be as good as it used to. The ingredients seemed cheaper. Shame. I hope this recovers to what it used to be, but for now I will sotp going here.

Their food is tasty, always has been and I continue to enjoy eating there with friends, or going solo. Food is served just so, service is keen, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I can recommend it to anybody looking for a decent and decently priced meal. It is more than equal to the overly hyped Brixton Village around the corner. Enjoy.

We stopped by for a first visit having been curious to see if it would make a decent post-cinema place to grab a quick meal. First impressions were fine, seated with others on mixed tables, decent looking menu, slightly shabby interior. We ordered dumplings, beers, and a few other starters and Fujiyama Ramen. The people sharing our table had some issues with food not arriving that they'd ordered and we subsequently found the same thing. The starters were ok (once we'd reminded the waitress a couple of times and got them all), great Spicy Tuna Rolls but the Ramen was pretty terrible (bad seafood taste and otherwise bland). We chased a couple of times for the bill which stated service was included (fair enough but not really deserved on this occasion). When i was handed the card machine, there was then the option to add a gratuity which i queried. We were told to our amazement that the service charge on the bill was "for the boss" and the gratuity for the serving staff. Now, it could be that this was lost in translation or misunderstood but given that service was marked on the bill and then the option to pay more this seems like a sneaky/dodgy management practice. We won't be returning.

This place is awesome. The sushi was really nice and fresh and quite reasonably priced. The dumplings were lovely as was the Miso Soup. Best Sushi I've had in ages

Don't know whats happened to Fujiyama in recent years but the food has really gone down hill. Maybe its just that the quality of other restaurants around Brixton has rockets in recent years so it just seems poor by comparison, but I really didnt enjoy my dinner here. Food was tepid and a bit rubbery.

Lovely food, but not somewhere you can sit and relax/have a chat for hours after your dinner. They're quite busy, so as soon as you're done, they politely and discreetly hurry you out. Delicious food and very polite staff. I visit regularly.

A well-priced restaurant located in the neighborhood of Brixton. We went to lunch a few times, as the portions were plentiful, they had plenty of vegetarian options, and good price! The noodles were good and the place really quite. (maybe, for dinner is more crowded)

Too much crowdy. They accept costumers even if there's not enough space, so we ate with four other unknown people in a too small table. On the other hand, sushi is not bad, the service is fast and prices aren't high.

Terrible experience tonight at Fujiyama. Have been there quite often in the last few years, and the service used to be good, but now it's awful. My companion's food arrived promptly, but mine failed to arrive. When queried, after waiting patiently for twenty minutes, I was told it would be another ten minutes. We had already told them we were in a bit of a rush, as soon as we sat down and they had told us it was no problem. But they had clearly forgotten to place the order. We waited another ten minutes but nothing arrived, then we really had to leave so asked for the bill, but instead of giving it to us they began quarrelling among themselves about whose fault it was I had not received my food. In the end we left, refusing to pay. Actually we offered to pay but they couldn't be bothered to produce the bill so we just left! I am utterly disgusted and feel that the management are trying to cut costs by employing not enough staff, and those that are there are badly trained and completely indifferent. I will not be going back. Pity, as the food used to be good - no idea what it's like now as I didn't get to taste any.

I have been a relatively loyal customer of Fujiyama for a couple of years – although their grub is average at best and the customer service has always left a lot to be desired, they’re conveniently situated just 50 metres up the road. And I love getting sushi delivered. But recently I had the most surreal, dumbfounding takeaway experience. After ordering online, usually the food arrives within 20 minutes (I am literally a one minute walk away – lazy, I know), but I didn’t receive my food until 70 minutes later and by the time it arrived it was cold; not just lukewarm, but cold in the actual sense of the word. Furthermore, the staff were weirdly rude. I’ll save the best bit for the end...Read on.Now, I’ll admit that some of the blame for the delay lies with me. Firstly, I had left off part of my address when entering my details, but not a particularly crucial bit and, like I said, I’ve ordered off these guys lots; in fact, when I called up querying the delay, a polite woman (the only polite member of staff at Fujiyama?) assured me that the delivery man knew me and knew where he was going as “I order off [them] all the time”. Secondly, over a period of a few minutes, I missed a series of calls from the delivery man (who was outside). When I called back a couple of minutes later he told me he had left to make other delivers and wouldn’t be back for 30 minutes. This would have been fair enough – I had missed his calls after all – if he hadn’t been so unreasonably rude down the phone, shouting me down as I tried to offer a rational reason and ultimately hanging up on me. I called up the restaurant to both explain and complain and, initially, the manager was fairly receptive and assured me that my food would be delivered within 20 minutes and would not be cold; if it was cold he said he would of course refund me. After about another five painful calls to the restaurant, the food eventually arrived 40 minutes later (70 minutes after I placed the order). Not only was the food cold, but the delivery man – in keeping up his ill-manners – made me go down to his car to collect the food off him (he didn’t even pass me the food…he told me to pick it up off his back seat). Naturally, I called the manager and said it was cold and he said, begrudgingly, that he’d refund the order. Forget me if I’m wrong, but this is normal right? If an order is very late and very cold, a restaurant will offer you a refund, at the very least – they normally want to keep you as a customer. So, we went about microwaving each dish. Within five minutes there was a buzz at our door: Fujiyama had sent a kid over to collect the food. COLLECT the food. Not replace the food, not check the food, not to apologise, but to take the food back to the restaurant. Never in my many slothful years of ordering takeaways had I heard something so ludicrous and I called the manager back to query this. The manager – who at this point was as aggressively rude as the delivery man – sternly told me that if I wanted a refund I needed to return the food and implied I was being irrational to have expected to keep the food (“how can I give you a refund it you keep the food?” – simple: the refund was for the awful customer service). I explained that we had, of course, opened every dish and prodded and tasted them to check if they were cold, but the manager demanded we returned the food otherwise he would cancel the refund. So, we clingfilmed the dishes (we had ordered noodle soups) and gave them to the lad at the door. The manager said we’d have the refund within 2-3 working days. After chasing and chasing every two or three days, I eventually received the refund nearly 3 weeks later!Look, the mix-up with the takeaway isn’t what prompted me to pen this essay – Fujiyama is an average, slightly overpriced Japanese-lite restaurant with a reputation for late deliveries, so what can one expect? It was the belligerent rudeness of the staff in dealing with the mix-up that has forced me turn my back on the place – it was so odd, like they really, really wanted to ensure I would never return as a customer. And collecting the food?? That is not normal. What did they do with it? I can only hope they collected it to throw it away to spite me in some peculiar way, but I fear they probably reused it (or parts of it) for other orders. With Brixton now full to the brim with delicious, unique and welcoming Asian restaurants, there really is no need to put up with the pitfalls of Fujiyama. If you want decent Japanese grub, head to Okan or Café Ono. We ended up ordering a takeaway from Baan Thai, also down the road, and we had that within 10 minutes (can’t recommend Baan Thai highly enough).

Fujiyama is very popular in the area. Good value for money, large portions in main dishes, great sushi and tempura fried stuff..... admittedly delivery can be a pain, not always but we've had some issues on the odd occasion but a quick pick up en route home or eat in is 5/5

Been here a few times now, and most success has been had when ordering any of the sushi rolls or sashimi, or assorted bento boxes. These have always been fresh, good quality and tasted lovely. Other dishes, such as curries, have never been praise-worthy. The katsu-curry I had on my last visit tasted of packet-curry, Indian-style. Otherwise, service has never been poor, prices are reasonable and it's a nice place to eat, even if it's a bit noisy at times (in a busy/bustling kind-of-way).

It didn't arrive for two hours and when I rang to ask they guy kept telling me "don't worry about it". When the food did arrive one sauce had been spilled in the bag so couldn't be eaten, the other wasn't there at all, the food was stone cold and couldn't be microwaved as it had salad in the bento box and in the end the food was pretty awful! All in all: expensive, bad service and not at all tasty.

Firstly I would like to point out that the decor in here as well as the service is nothing to write home about. In fact what I really want to say is it's significantly below average but I have too much of a soft spot for the place to actually say that. In short do not take somebody on a first date here or anybody you are especially looking to impress.HOWEVER I do feel Fujiyama’s deserves a visit. You'll be seated quickly and without any fuss (unlike many other establishments in the nearby Brixton Village that feel the need to make you wait 45 minutes even on a Tuesday at 10.30am).I have tried a whole spectrum of the Sushi Rolls and particular great ones include the Salmon Skin Rolls, Prawn Tempura, Crispy Duck and Spicy Scallops. Elsewhere on the menu the Chicken Katsu Curry is only pleasing if you're hungry and some of the Noodle dishes appeared to resemble tinned spaghetti hence my advice to "Stick to the Sushi".But for all its main dish pitfalls and the terrible service/decor, I’m inclined to say that's what makes Fujiyama’s so great. You would be really really pushed to find Sushi this fantastic for this price anywhere else in London and a relaxed atmosphere (think wooden benches and a big communal coat rack) is a winner too.If you're a Sushi-lover without a huge bank account who can see past imperfections this is a place for you!!

I'm a Brixton local and have always loved Fujiyamas, takeaway or eat in.At 8pm last night, myself and a friend decided to eat in at Fujiyamas and were left extremely disappointed when the waitress tried to squeeze us into the middle of a table that was clearly busy, people were spread out and it wasn't ideal for anyone, especially how difficult it would have been to actually get into the bench seats!! I asked if we could sit in the section in the next room and I was promptly told it wasn't open yet, even when only through an archway and all set up, so I could not understand what the inconvenience would be. on the assumption that if we didn't sit on the cramped table we couldn't stay , I told the waitress that we would have to go elsewhere, as at any restaurant, I expect to sit in a comfortable seat with enough space to enjoy my meal. Anyway she shrugged and we left. I was in complete shock that she didn't ask anyone (ie the manager ) if she could seat 2 people in the overflow section, instead she was happy to let business walk out the door. I have been going to Fujiyamas for 7 years and of late I've had an appalling experience with your takeaway delivery time and cold food on arrival and dine in service. There was a time when Fujiyamas was one of a few decent places in Brixton, but not anymore, and you will lose custom to others who look after and value customers if you don't get organised and change a few simple things !

Came here for a work lunch with around nine people and ordered from their lunch menu which included one starter and one main course. Our drinks, starters and main courses all came out at the same which was a bit disappointing especially as the restaurant wasn't busy at the time and it would have been nice to have our drinks and starters first.Portions were a good size but for me the food was average (I had the spring rolls and yasai chilli men) and nothing spectacular, although my colleagues really seemed to enjoy it. A nice place in Brixton but there are better and I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

I felt like sushi tonight and ordered a bento box from Fujiyama, as they're quite local. Never again.I had to wait 95 minutes for my food to be delivered! I called after one hour and was offered an unconvincing apology and was told it would be just 10 more minutes. I waited 35 more minutes. No apology from the delivery driver, although I don't know whether it was his fault or the restaurant's.I ended up eating very late which is something I don't particularly like. The sushi was ok but they didn't even include the soy sauce which is usually a standard item.I won't be ordering from them again, that's for sure.

I've been going to Fujiyama for over 11 years and always loved the atmosphere, food and prices. Have had many birthday meals here and have recommended it to many people. I, like many other loyal customers must by now, feel pretty let down. The last few times I've been the service has been utterly shocking. I took a friend for one meal and she was served food and I was not. After about an hour of waiting and half a dozen complaints I asked for the bill (for what was eaten). It took another ten minutes to get the bill (after asking three times) - we were late for a film by this point - and only after the bill did my food arrive! Left extremely angry and hungry. The useless waitress even seemed surprised I didn't tip her. Oh dear...That's the worst it's been from my point of view but the staff are generally poor and disinterested these days, and it's a complete lottery on food quality. I've always loved their creative sushi menu but a lot of their other dishes and starters are extremely average at best.Dear Fujiyama management - you obviously make plenty of money because the restaurant is regularly full when I go (past) and you clearly sell plenty of takeaways (probably too many at the expense of the people actually IN your restaurant, patiently waiting way too long to get served). This will not last forever if you keep up the poor service and food quality - there are now plenty of other options in your vicinity. I doubt you are paying your staff enough money because they're either disinterested, overworked or useless. Please sort it out soon, before lots of people never come back. Or maybe you don't care either? It certainly seems like it. I'll revisit your restaurant (and this review) in 6 months to see if you've sorted it out...

I stopped in to grab dinner on the way home. The hot vegan options were not on display but after asking the staff member I discovered that they make them to order. The tofu curry portions are smaller than they were a few years back but fortunately the meal itself is still just as tasty. I also picked up the vegan sushi set as well as the seaweed salad both of which were luscious. The staff member on duty was friendly and incredibly helpful. All round great service but the portions need to return to what they were previously.

This was actually a take away. Ordered the nigiri and surf and turf. It looked so disgusting, like leftovers thrown in a box. I was so put off by the sight that I did not even dare to try it. Will never order from here again.
