We appreciate the concept of the restaurant and the fresh ingredients, but our experience here was unfortunately subpar to say the least. We were placed next to a large group booking of 30+ covers and told we could not move elsewhere eventhough half of the restaurant was empty. The air conditioning was blowing in our faces and we were very cold, and they told us they would turn it off since they would not move us, but they turned it back on after 5 minutes of mercy. The food was served in an inexplicable order with some sides served before appetizers, and the other appetizers being nowhere to be found 20+ minutes after sides were served. Despite all this, I would have been happy to leave a more generous review if the food made the uncomfortable experience worth it - it did not. We found the food to be very overpriced and flavorless. I have also received better service at many Wetherspoons’. A rather unenjoyable experience all told.

This place has a lovely vibe. A nice little oasis in Soho. Food was great. We had the aubergine and it was probably the best aubergine I’ve had, very creamy. The truffle potatoes were great too. We came on a Saturday night but we’ll have to come for their Sunday roast.

Bit late with this as we dined in Feb. The staff attentive & friendly. My steak tartar & pork chop mains were outstanding. The room lovely. A much better meal than the night before at L'Escargot . We had a young individual who waited on us it being his first shift and made an admirable fist of it. Also, it was a hop , jump & skip back to Hazlitt's where we were staying.

Visited during our vacation in London. Booked through first table for half off food. Ordered lamb croquettes, bread+butter, Sussex 75, rosemary fries, and flat iron steak to share between 2 people. While the staff is a bit stand-offish, the restaurant itself has an amazing atmosphere. I went for lunch, and there was lovely sunlight streaming through the windows on the ceiling. The Hake fish was excellent, as was the Blanc de blanc from their own vineyard. I had the cheesecake, which was outstanding.

Sussex B&R is such a charming gem in the eclectic area between Soho and Covent Garden. Claire and Rodrigo made our 20th Wedding Anniversary dinner such a wonderful night. Top notch service, conversation, laughs, and delicious dishes... trying their Beef Wellington was unforgettable. Nice decor but wait staff and food not up to par- for the price especially. To start they had no record of a confirmed reservation. The waitress seemed quite confused all round and very clumsy knocking things over on the table. I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon and was given sauvignon blanc. Ordered a roast - all under seasoned, parsnip and carrot so undercooked I couldn’t even cut it let alone eat it. Small pieces of lamb that tasted of nothing. Massive Yorkshire pudding but no gravy? Was for a business lunch so didn’t want to make a fuss. Someone tell me why this place is so highly rated? Utterly baffling. I rarely write reviews but had to for such an unexpected let down. 1-2 stars - Look elsewhere.

A brilliant restaurant for pre show lunches and dinners. The specific menu has 3 courses and the mushroom eclairs and beef Wellington ( to share between 2) is just as you would want it. So delicious. The backed cheesecake was also perfect. The staff were so friendly and the decor contemporary but not intrusive. The only downside was the £48 per person but I think the shock is that the Aussie dollar is so weak against the pound. Still a memorable and totally delicious meal.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening at the Sussex. The atmosphere is low key but with a good buzz to it. The beef wellington special was pricey at £84 for two, but excellent. Beef was perfectly done as was pastry. Roast potatoes a triumph. I would have just preferred some vegetables instead of a salad as the other side. Snacks/starters were a nice way to start the meal. Mushroom eclair and trout very nice. Chorizo crumb bit underwhelming. Excellent wine. Service was friendly and understated (in a good way). But just a bit erratic, eg we sat for quite a while before being offered a menu, and had to ask for someone to open the wine we’d ordered and bring us some glasses to drink it with… Glad to visit this outpost of the Gladwin Bros having enjoyed the Black Lamb too.

Fabulous experience. I had booked in for group of 6 of us before a nearby theater show. The food, pacing, and service was great. Despite us 6 women gabbing and being somewhat distracted duringt the ordering process, the service staff were kind and patient and happy to provide thoughful recommendations. Really impressed with the steak tartare, scallops and the roasted potatoe sides. Felt the value was fair for the price, and really felt lots of options on thoughful wine list too. Will be back!

I recently dined at Sussex Bar and Restaurant, and it was an outstanding experience! The inviting atmosphere set the perfect backdrop for our meal. Our waiter, Joao, truly made the evening special. Baffled by the good reviews - expected something special given the prices but service was completely non-existent and food mediocre at best. Came as a family of 5 and we all had the roast and several snacks/starters. Starters were bizarre, lacking in flavour and almost like someone had thrown together left over ingredients. The roasts were bog standard, bland and portions inconsistent - one of our party only had 1 tiny roast potato on their plate! To top it off it took upwards of 30 mins to settle our bill and we had somehow been charged more than double on wine that was the daily special. Would not recommend - you’re paying Fallow prices for a Wetherspoons experience.

Conozco el Soho y la escena gastronómica londinense extremadamente bien, pero después de haberme alojado con frecuencia en Mimi's Hotel (a pocas puertas de aquí) y pasar por este restaurante de aspecto discreto todo este tiempo, esta fue mi primera visita. Se anuncia como un bistró británico con un enfoque en los productos de temporada británicos hasta su vino inglés de Nutbourne Vineyards. Soy un fan masivo del vino espumoso inglés (tan bueno y a menudo mejor que el mejor champán) y probé el Nutty Wild, que probablemente fue un error, no fue de mi paladar. Me reservaré el juicio adecuado hasta que pruebe su Vintage. El restaurante es un gran lugar para cenar, muy atmosférico, especialmente cuando las luces estaban atenuadas y cada mesa tenía velas encendidas que proporcionan la mayor parte de su iluminación. Hay dos menús que constan de carta y degustación, este último incluye aperitivos y 5 platos por 49 £. 50 por cabeza. Debería haberlo devuelto realmente, estaba casi bien hecho, pero el jus y las patatas encantadoras ayudaron a salvar el plato un poco. Finalmente, el postre fue una gran quenelle de crema con sabor a chocolate blanco con un poco de crujiente de migas de galleta y cuatro arándanos; un poco básico. El servicio era amable y sobre todo bueno con algunas cosas como mi copa de vino no estaba allí cuando apareció la tubería principal y faltan cubiertos, lo básico realmente. La factura total era una sombra de más de £ 100 incluyendo una copa de vino espumoso, té verde y 13. Cargo por servicio del 5 %. Para una comida como yo, no me apresuraría a volver. Si no pueden cocinar bien el pato, conozco muchos otros restaurantes alrededor del Soho donde puedo mejorar por lo mismo o menos.

I had a great lunch experience at Sussex. The service was outstanding, thanks to Joao, who made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. The highlight of the afternoon was undoubtedly the pork chop—easily the best I’ve had in a long time. It was cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with a fantastic pairing of flavors that elevated every bite. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I may have found a new favorite 🇬🇧 restaurant. Lunch was incredible! Venison croquettes... Amazing roasted 🥦... Lollo salad w 🍾 dressing....All fantastic! The 🍷 selection is great! There are several fantastic British options. The 🇬🇧 🧀 choices are also delicious! If Claire and Jenn are working, you are in for a real treat. The only thing better than the food is the welcoming hospitality of Jenn and Claire. I'm going back!!

The food was really tasty, other than the mushroom éclairs which were stale. The trout was fresh but a very small portion. The beef wellington was excellent. However, a prebooked theatre set menu, took over 2hrs to serve. So slow that the desserts were rushed out as we said we were leaving. Rather soured what would otherwise have been a nice meal.

We were seated by the window at the back of the main dining area and I think we were forgotten about a bit. Only one of our starters arrived and after 10 minutes of waiting I had to ask where the other one was as I think it's impolite to start eating before everyone at the table has their food. After finishing our starters (steak tartare, cured trout - both fine) we waited for our plates to be taken away and they weren't. Our mains arrived some time later before our starter plates had been removed. We also had no cutlery to eat our main courses (rump steak, sea bass - again, both fine). We were left for 15 minutes with the dessert menu before asking for the bill. We also requested the 13.5% service charge be removed once that arrived as a) that's particularly high for the UK where 10% is the norm, and we'd have usually stuck with that unless service was exceptional, and b) the service didn't warrant a tip. Some positives - the blush rosé was very enjoyable and zingy and the yeast bread with herb butter was great.

After having visited the Gladwin family’s vineyard Nutbourne, we were very excited to visit the Sussex on Frith Street. Overall the pre theatre menu was good value (4 courses for £48). The main let downs were being served very average chips rather than roasted potatoes (as described in the menu) and the chocolate mousse dessert, which was so bitter it was inedible. However, the main reason for this review was the very poor customer service. The staff lacked attentiveness to customers and it did not appear that there was a maitre de overseeing them, ensuring they were looking after customers rather than giggling like school children in by the bar!

We only popped in for a drink but we were made so welcome. We ended up staying for a few! So good to see a bar/restaurant championing British food & drinks. And all done with so much style. Joao made us feel so welcome & we also enjoyed complimentary nibbles. We will be eating the full menu next time! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend

When entering there was a fire alarm going on for a while! These things happen and nobody’s fault but not ideal for the ambience or those with anxiety or noise sensitivity! The food was interesting and pretty creative. Only critical feedback is that the cheese portions are tiny. £4 for a Dairylea (smaller actually) sized bit of Brie?! No chance. Luckily ours was on a half price promo. Staff were lovely but service was a little slow considering how quiet it was, and welcome drinks especially took ages. You could’ve got more money out of us if it had come 15 mins earlier - we would have ordered wine for sure but had to rush off to theatre! Sorry.

Last night, my friends and I went to this great restaurant. We chosen several starters, all of which were absolutely delicious. The beef tartare and smoked trout fillet were standouts. For our main course, we tried the pork chop, and it was so tender it practically melted in our mouths. Our waitress, Claire, was super friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal.

Such a beautifully inviting, warm atmosphere with nuances of the old English countryside with subtle contemporary nods. The food is fresh, with international influences combined with traditional British elements. This paired with one of the excellent wines (or cocktails. Or both!) makes for a wonderful evening out with friends, family or lovers. All of this is enhanced by the friendly and knowledgeable staff who are attentive, but not overbearing, and comfortably efficient so as not to make you feel rushed along, but not abandoned at your table either.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience at this coffee shop. I ordered a latte and a mocha, both of which went straight to the trash. The drinks were completely watery, with barely any coffee in them. When I raised my concerns with the staff, I was met with a rude and dismissive attitude. To make things worse, they still charged me for those undrinkable coffees. The pastries and food items looked old and possibly expired. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone.
