Y vuelve. Estoy absolutamente enamorado de este lugar.

I'd heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try. Parkway gets quite busy on a Friday night but when we arrived (8ish) there was a lot of free parking available. I'd never tried saké before so tried the sampler of three for £9.50. I loved the sweet plum saké and we ended up ordering a whole bottle. We ordered pork gyozo, assorted sashimi (£13), prawn tempura, deep fried soy and ginger chicken, rice and chicken teriyaki. The tempura batter was light and crispy, the sashimi wonderful-a great mix of different fish. I didn't find the teriyaki great...it had skin on and wasn't as tasty as I've had elsewhere. I loved the deep fried chicken though others found it too salty. We tried all four ice creams. Loved the red bean one and the toasted sesame. Found the green tea bitter but others loved it. The citrus one was like vanilla ice cream with Seville orange peel. Had a refreshing taste. The bill came to £113 for four including saké totalling £31...so around £20 each for food. Not unreasonable for Camden or for really good Japanese food. I'd eat here again.

Very few 'vegetarian' options listed, all of which were deep fried. After asking the waitress it transpired that the vegetarian dishes were cooked alongside meat and fish in the same oil, so not actually vegetarian at all. The only truly meat-free options were plain boiled rice, boiled spinach, and pickles. Very disappointing.

This place has the best authentic sushi in London. The fish is properly cut, the sake is properly served. Cooked food is not bad, but sushi/sashimi is great. They have clam sushi in their very reasonably priced sushi set.You may ask to be seated upstairs in the tatami floored room for dinner service if you'd like a change. It's not totally the traditional experience, but it is very unique in London. The food at lunch prices is a steal (7-8 pounds), but I felt that the sushi was not as good as at dinner. Came here with my friends to celebrate someones birthday. Made a reservation for 10 and got seats at the tatami mats on the upper floor of the restaurant. Once I entered the restaurant, I felt like I was in Japan again. It was a really enjoyable meal as they gave one free cup of green tea. We ordered various kinds of sashimi and rolls to share and I must say that the sashimi was really fresh and was considerably 'melt in your mouth', which I really enjoyed. I ordered a gyu don (beef with onions and rice) set, which came with miso soup and fruits. The gyu don was good and the meat was not tough. The miso soup was authentic and the fruits were cut in a cute fashion, which I thought was a nice touch! Really shows the attention to detail in the food that they prepare. Overall was an enjoyable experience with my friends and even though it is a little pricey, it is still worth the money for authentic Japanese food. Worth spending on.

The interior is interesting, and the staff are very charming. The menu is reasonably priced, and everything was very fresh and well prepared. I did not have any cooked dishes so cannot judge but enjoyed the sushi a lot. There was too much wasabi in some of the pieces of nigiri which made my eyes water and took away the flavour of the fish but this is just my personal taste and I will ask next time not to have it.

Only thing I am not fan with is the hard cooked plain rice that is served with Sashimi, but I understand this is because they are the Sushi specialist, and they have to cook the rice perfectly for Sushi which is usually harder to add some rice vinegar. Therefore the Sushi is just so perfect, and I appreciate the chef's skillful cooking and the price.

I first attended this restaurant 20 years ago when it was still a Japanese restaurant but under a different name, so on impulse I thought it was way overdue for another visit.I decided on lunch and when I arrived it was clearly busy so the waitress apologetically suggested that I return in 15 to 20 minutes, which I did. On return I was greeted by another woman who was clearly the manager or owner who categorically told me that they were full, I mentioned that 15 minutes earlier a waitress suggested that I return in 15 minutes, I also asked if I could eat at the bar, this was dismissed with an apology and what I would describe as a old and recognizable dodgy behavior, so as soon as I left Sushi Waka I phoned to book a table which they gave me in 5 minutes! I returned to find a man eating at the bar with plenty of chairs available and I faced the same Woman who could obviously be seen that she had been exposed. She offered silly excuses and apologized (she seemed good at that).I am a very well traveled man who obviously can see when he is being discriminated against.22/6/15

One of my favourite traditional sushi places to go to! Its a small and intimate setting so you do feel as if you have found a little gem near the heart of Camden. The fish is generous and the set menu/bento boxes are very good. The price is very reasonable as well for sushi standards and the green tea ice cream finishes off a good meal. I've visited this place with my boyfriend as well as friends and they are also pleasantly surprised to find such a good sushi place relatively nearby. Location wise its a 5-10 minute walk from the station so I've come to Camden before just for the restaurant. Its a small place so I would recommend booking other wise you will be disappointed. The sushi was lovely, fresh and beautifully presented, marred only by the chef's over-generous hand with the wasabi - I like wasabi but here we couldn't taste the fish for the eye-watering amount of it. Great value, I would go back but tell them to go easy on the wasabi.

We love this place. We probably go there at least once a week and have never been disappointed (except once when we went on a Sunday and they were closed!) The fish is always beautifully fresh and generously portioned. The cooked dishes are fresh and delicious (the black cod in particular is a favourite.) The decor is not sleek and modern but this is a restaurant with real character and we like that, it's so nice to go somewhere authentic for a change! A good tip is to ask for a table upstairs, especially if you're going with kids, sitting on tatami mats is a real treat.

I went there last week for my girlfriend's birthday because she really loves Sushis. I actually wanted to book Asakusa but they were full and recommended me to go there. I have to thank them for the recommendation. We went there with a couple of friends. I was unfortunately not aware of the 1st level room when I booked, but we had the table near the counter which was a really lovely table for the four of us. We mostly ordered nigir and maki, plus kara-age and gyozas. The food was really really nice. The fish was fresh and tasty.I have to say I have been really happy to find fatty tuna and barely cooked salmon nigiris that I only had the chance to eat in Japan. The only disappointment was maybe the octopus, but the other sushis were all really good. I really liked the look of the restaurant, really typical. To be honest however, the toilets run down which is surprising for a japanese resstaurant (If you've been to japan, you know what I mean).Service was perfect. And the price was a good deal considering the quality of the food.

Worked about 200 yards away from this place and passed by it many times without considering eating there as it was so small and not particularly attractive. Ended up having dinner there one night with a colleague who said he remembered eating there and it was ok. Sushi Waka is a lot more than ok. It's great fresh authentic sushi with a Japanese staff (I've seen both an older gentleman and a younger lady preparing sushi at the sushi bar). They have great combos et definitely offer some nice single servings (2 pieces) type dishes. Dessert is never fancy in a sushi place but their's is quite reasonable. Ended up going there every other week or so. Just great!

My favorite restaurant, good ambient, great fresh fish, good portions, good ice cream and good price. Its small and intimate, and if you ask for a table on the top floor you sit on tatami. I highly recommend it

I have been going to this restaurant for many years and it is always a real treat. The staff are excellent, the chef is a wonderful character and the food is always top notch. The prices are excellent and the place is always full of Japanese people which is a testament to how good the sushi is. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. We had our daughter's 21st birthday party on the top floor and it was a memorable night. The chef brought up a large golden bowl and everyone drank saki out of it!

Generous portion sizes, but I'm not sure if that's just because the chef doesn't know how to cut fish properly. Food is generally ok, not cheap but reasonable for Camden. The toilets however are grim (see other reviewers photos). I'm surprised the place hasn't been shut down by health and safety. I would recommend the bento box down the road.

This restaurant was one of my favourite spots for after-work dinner when I used to work in the area. Made my way back to Camden last night and headed straight to Sushi Waka for some sushi on a summery afternoon.OK, yes, the deco can use some updating and the area leading to and in the ladies' could use a proper clean as the smell wasn't very nice. But if you can look past these, then Sushi Waka is a great place to get some good sushi. We shared mix platters of maki and nigiri, tempura, and some really delicious and super tender slow-cooked pork. We enjoyed our meal and never once felt rushed even though the restaurant filled up when we're in the midst of having our dinner. Empty plates were swiftly cleared and once we're done with dinner, they brought small plates of fruit to cleanse our palate - lovely.Service has definitely improved when I was here last so one can only assume they've been taking the reviews seriously and good for them! Can't wait to go back!

I regularly go to this place, once or twice a week as I'm an avid sushi fan and I must say that this place doesn't disappoint. It's a small little independent sushi restaurant, which looks very Japanese. I can see a few people aren't too impressed with the decor, but for me I appreciate the authentism and feel it adds to the charm of the place rather than look like some commercial clone. They have a separate menu for lunch and dinner, and I mostly know of their lunch offering - which consists of various bento boxes, rice dishes, udon, and sushi. Everything that I've tried on their is excellent, with Box A being a little treat for me. Also, their miso soup is amazing! The prices are pretty good, ranging roughly from £5 - £9 - which is fairly standard for Camden and fairly cheap for sushi.I find the service very welcoming, and although the lady's English is a tad limited, I always appreciate her welcoming nature. I've been going in for around 2 years now and thought it was about time I wrote a review and give back to the Tripadvisor community! Enjoy :)

First, I'd like to say that the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. That said, the prices were very reasonable, but the food was just alright. The sushi was pretty good, but not the other dishes. In all honesty, I could not get past the very fishy smell and unclean appearance of the place. I know that would not be a problem to a great many people, but it was for me. I felt like I was sitting in a restaurant in China or Hong Kong with Andrew Zimern. We also sat next to the fish tank, which was not clean and had gold fish that were on their last breath. There are a good number of people who gave Sushi Waka great reviews, maybe they know more than I do.

You can't beat £7 for a bento box. We love this place, full of kitsch Japanese scrolls, dolls & cute cats. Very genuine Japanese, the sushi chef is a great character, friendly, fast service and really good sushi. This is not top notch and for sure it could have a lick of paint as one reviewer said but then you'd lose the charm. Fish is always fresh and clean, they often have genuine Japanese items like natto and uni, this for me is the mark of a good sushi restaurant. If you want fast, modern then go Bento nearer the station but for me Sushi Waka wins every time for good Japanese!

I have seen that opinions about this place is clearly divided, and I could sympathise with some of the comments. However, I think this place is very good indeed. It's not perfect (but what is?), but in my view definitely not that bad. Let's start with some negatives, the decoration is definitely too busy and old-fashioned. Many people might think it is out of touch with modern London. I don't mind it at all. My husband and I normally sit upstairs at the traditional Japanese tables (see pic). Granted, sitting on the floor is not comfy, but we think it's fun, and adds to the whole Japanese authentic theme of the place (the chef and waitresses are all Japanese. I frequently observe Japanese clientele happily chatting with them, or sitting at the bar, chatting with the sushi chef). But I understand the decor/tables are not for everyone. Service - it can be quite uneven. Sometimes, I observed, was because of the waitresses being insufficiently trained. However, we have never had any rude service. They smiled and said hello and goodbye (the chef shouted hello and goodbye loudly in Japanese as customers walked in or out). Food - I love the food here very much. In terms of sushi, I don't think it's the best or freshest sushi I have ever had. But it is not bad. At this price the sushi is never going to be of the quality you expect from, say, Nobu or Zuma. But I never had bad fish. Admittedly I don't order much raw fish. Last time I ordered sweet prawn and tamago nigiri, which were very nice. I attached a picture here. But what I really like here is grilled fish. My usual choices are grilled saba, grilled salmon with salt, and miso-marinated grilled black cod. These are of excellent value - all under £10 per portion I think. I also love this cold dish of marinated mixed seafood with seaweed and cucumber - a selection of fresh seafood is marinated in sweetened vinegar. It is very authentic but I think it is a quiet taste. I love all marinated dishes, so this is my personal favourite (see pic). My friend once ordered the grilled unagi (eels) dinner set, and she seemed to enjoy it (see pic).Other dishes which we have tried and liked include chicken korokke (deep-fried chicken croquettes), chicken namban (similar, but with sweet mayo sauce), deep-fried oysters (I know it sounds weird, but I had this dish for the first time in Osaka and just loved it), and aubergine topped with sweet miso paste. We normally ordered many dishes to share, and usually ended up spending about £20 per person, which I think is not bad for London/Camden. Whilst this is not my most favourite Japanese restaurant in London, it serves very nicely as my local Japanese place. I eat here once a month, on average. I can see that this place is not perfect, but I still think it is very nice. I have always experienced friendly service (efficiency may vary) and good quality food at reasonable price.

This is the first time i've ever done a review, i'm doing it as a warning to others not to go here and eat rank food!!! that might sound harsh but its true.I came here for a quick bento box for lunch on wednesday 6th march. i can honestly say i've never eaten worse sushi in my life. they must have a new chef because i can't imagine anyone giving this any good reviews. the sashimi was horrible. i couldn't finish it. the vegetables in the tempera where cut so thickly and were crunchy from not being cooked properly. whoever cooked it was not a trained sushi chef, i can say that for sure. the staff who served the food we're pleasant enough but when you treat yourself to sushi, you do so because you want to enjoy the food, this made me feel depressed. it tasted as if i had tried to give sushi making ago using ingredients from a petrol station. stay away!

I went to this sushi restaurant today, because of all the good reviews it have received here on tripadvisor, but I have never been more let down in my life. Seriously! The first thing that struck us was how shabby the place looked. But we was sort of expecting that, and got the table on the second floor (as recommended). The place smelled a bit like urine, and we considered to leave, but we gave it a shot. We ordered a mix of sushi and a Waka Special (or something like that), and the food we got was absolutely horrible, and this was the first time that I have not been able to finish my platter. The fish was dry, and I'm pretty sure the tuna had some sort of crust on it. The pieces of fish was way to big, and not cut in a proper way. The fried stuff we got tasted nothing, the chicken smelled a lot like turkey, the salmon was inedible, the maki rolls tasted funny, the teriyaki was definitely NOT teriyaki and the miso soup was not properly made. And we actually had to pay for all this: 44 GPB. You may think I'm exaggeration? Well, I'm not! Go check it out yourself if you don't believe me

Sushi Waka is about 300m from Camden Town tube station. As a masive fan of sushi, and having read reviews of this restaurant, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The decor isn't flashy by any means, but the food was fabulous. It is the most authentic Japanese restaurant I have been to in a long time and the upstairs eating area is a must. The food comes quickly and the waitresses are delightfully friendly. The sashimi was superb, and you must try the blackened teriyaki cod. Big thumbs up.

After reading the reviews, I wanted to try it out and check if Sushi Waka was really that good. I love Japanese food and expect a high quality and freshness of the food. That was No disappointment. The food is very good, the sashimi finely cut and very fresh, the sake is delicious, the staff very nice, and our food arrived promptly. As some people mentioned, sit upstairs for a more japanese experience (if you dont mind crossing your legs). Highly Recommended and I will be back, when visiting London.

I went to this restaurant with my friend last month, The service was slightly bad becaused the place was busy, staff did not serve drinks quickly enough, but food they serving was authentic Japanese dishes which was quite delicious and price was cheaper than other Japanese restaurants. I recommend “Gindara saikyo-yaki”(Marinated Black Cod in miso paste) and “Nasu dengaku” (Deep fried aubergine with sweet soybeans paste), “Gyu teriyaki” (Beef teriyaki).

This is a fast food sushi and bento establishment. Their logo drew me in. I had a pre-rolled Dragon Roll and a Sweet Chili Chicken Bento. The roll and bento were both flavorful and satisfying. I wonder how much better they would taste if I could have them freshly made. It was a quick process to pick up the food and pay for it. If you want a fast, fresh and good meal, this is a good choice.

The restaurant is no longer exist at the address you advertise in Tripadvisor! Came here for nothing! In another time went to the address written in the restaurant’s web. The photo of dishes with figures in the trip advisor no longer exist. The food was no so so, nothing to write on. Disappointed again.
