Sushi Samba in City of London, Westminster

I went to Sushi Samba with some friends for lunch, the setting was beautiful, the food was amazing and the staff were so attentive. Special shout out to Zik for serving us and taking our photos <3

I couldn’t put it better than Luke Missing in his 2022 review, who wrote” After the lift ride up, you’ll find that Sushisamba is an expert in extremely low blows. The prices are high, but the food quality low. The restaurant heaving, but the atmosphere lacking. The staff plentiful, but the service questionable.” I’d only add that our server didn’t have even a passing relationships with the wine list, which reflects badly on what I assume is a lazy manager who can’t be bothered to train or encourage their team. £278 for a wet Tuesday is punchy. Bravo to the owners for making such a success of an unmemorable venue for a one-time only visit.

We had a good experience arriving without a reservation mid-week about 7PM. We were greeted and seated promptly. Very attractive restaurant, although chairs have not held up and mine was shot, seat was sunken and worn. We shared two appetizers, beef gyoza was tasty and attractive. Tuna Ceviche spelled with an S was not very ceviche like, but garnish was attractive, tuna was soggy and tasteless. We had both the sashimi and nigiri samplers. The portions were good, the fish was fresh, the rice the nigiri was on was nicely seasoned. The one double vodka we were served was short, only about 40ml, more like a short single shot. I would have made an issue about it, but after it was delivered we never saw our server again until we were finished and he came back to the table for payment. The check included an extra 14% service charge. I don’t recall seeing this on the menu. I have not been in London for a long time, but I did not experience this in Edinburgh when I visited there in June. Is this a UK thing or just this place? I’m used to rounding up about 10% in Europe for good service, this added service charge was sketchy. Here’s where I was really put off. The server asked us to leave a 5-star review and mention his name with the story that he was competing with other servers. Why do I think the contest is ownership’s idea on how to get lots of 5-star reviews? I wonder how that’s working? Better service and more transparency about extra service charges might get the better reviews by earning them. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a pretty restaurant with good food and ok prices, but it’s a long way away from a 5-star experience.

Le lieu est tres sympa mais bruyant. Les plats sont bien présentés mais en terme de quantité c'est quand meme minimaliste. Les prix eux, ne le sont pas. Rapport qualité/quantité/prix ça ne vaut pas le coup.. dommage

Really nice spot, the service from Maxim at the Bishopsgate branch was on point 10/10! He was very attentive and helpful.

They had a problem with the lifts so we had to queue for a while to get up the 39 floors so we were a little late for the table but they still kicked us out bang on 2 hours from the reservation. Not sure why as we had spent over £100 per head at the time and were still drinking. Most of the food was ok but they kept taking our drinks glasses before they were empty and the drinks arent cheap. There was no need for them to do this, once we realised their tricks we kept hold of them.

What a wonderful location and a beautiful restaurant. The food is amazing but we only tried a selection of starters and sharing foods as our first time. The service is quick but after you order you struggle to get anyone’s attention

Enjoyable experience of fusion food. We had the tasting menu. A wide selection of food and lots of it. Staff were helpful and friendly. The blackened cod was delicious, and the tiger prawn maki and tempura green beans would be my choice next time I go. It's an expensive treat, but we spent nearly 4 hours there enjoying the multiple courses and atmosphere.

Apalling experience! Waited 25 minutes to ne served! aperol spritz was Aperol/prosecco minimal and a glass full of ice. After such bad service, decided not to eat. Got the bill, and we were charged twice!! Still trying to get my money back for the fouble charge, so far, no luck! Avoid at all costs.

Je ne vous conseille pas dutout. Plats très chers, mais ceci n’est pas le problème si le service était à la hauteur. 1h pour attendre nos 5 plats, et seulement 3 on étaient servis. Le reste oublié. Pareil pour les boissons. Les seuls plats qu’on a eu la chance de partage a 4 étaient délicieux cependant.

The food at sushi samba is great but the service is terrible. Our table wasn't ready when we arrived and then we had to wait 50 mins for our first drinks, after chasing them up multiple times. Had other problems with delays for 2nd drinks, not getting more water when we asked and very slow service between set course plates. When we were served desert the senior waiter brought the bill before we'd even started eating, saying they needed the table back so we were rushed out, despite the delays not being our fault. It was my friends bday and they didn't give her a cake and candle like other diners which was disappointing. The service added was 14% and I didn't want to cause a scene so didn't argue with it but it left a very bad taste in my mouth as the terrible service did affect our experience and for a £350 meal for 2 people you would expect a bit better. There are places with better service to go for a celebration meal. Wouldn't recommend.

Totally underwhelmed. My daughter paid a £100 deposit to be in a cramped area, continually bumped into by people coming in and out and deafening noise. 3 out of our 5 chosen cocktails were incorrect. A fourth was spilled all over one of us. It was chaotic from start to finish. Never again.

Tutto assolutamente perfetto, niente da dire. Quando siamo arrivati al locale ci hanno offerto due bicchieri di acqua al bar mentre ci preparavano il tavolo. Il cameriere affidato al nostro tavolo molto gentile e servizio veloce. L’unica pecca è che quando mi sono alzato per andare in bagno, il cameriere ha preso il mio tovagliolo e l’ha piegato sul tavolo. Capisco la raffinatezza, ma avrei preferito che non avesse toccato con le mani il mio tovagliolo ogni volta che mi alzavo.

We came for a post theatre dinner. We booked and paid a deposit, but the table was not ready when we arrived. There was no where for us to sit and wait and so we stood at the top of the stairs with other waiting diners. The music was laud and the atmosphere clubby and frenetic. After a while we asked how much longer we would have to wait and were immediately shown to our table. By this point we realised that the music was so loud we wouldn't be able to discuss the ballet we had just seen; we could barely hear ourselves speak. The sushi on the table looked lovely and so we picked up our menus only to find that a combination of low lighting and small print made them difficult to read. We couldn't get the attention of a waiter and so had time to discuss at high volume whether we should find somewhere calmer; we decided we would. On our exit the Hostess at the desk expressed no surprise; she quickly offered to refund our deposit of 60. I had forgotten the deposit entirely and am grateful for her professionalism and the speed with which she credited us (20 minutes). I had written the money off and so was pleasantly surprised. This was a huge point in favour of the restaurant. In short, the food looked good and the staff were honest and professional. But all in all very disappointing and all because the volume of the music was just too extreme. If I thought there were quieter times or nights, I would definitely give the place a second chance.

Exceeded all expectations. The food, service, and atmosphere were top notch - one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The Brazilian carnival show was an added and unexpected delight.

Came here twice for dinner the last month. This remains one of the best London restaurants. Cocktails are to die for and service is excellent. Food wise everything is lovely , especially love the veg taco starters. For mains, you cannot go wrong with the miso cod. Great place.

Despite the challenging booking system and the need to plan well in advance, our visit to Sushi Samba was absolutely worth it. Having been here before, I can confidently say they continually elevate their standards, from the exquisite food to the impeccable service. While the ambiance was fantastic, the music was a tad too low, but perhaps that's because it was a weekday. Sushi Samba is a must-visit – every item on the menu is not just good, but truly exceptional. From sushi to robata, drinks to desserts, it's all 👍🏽👍🏽!

Amazing food and flawless service! Sushi Samba is the place to be when at Covent Garden! Went there for a meeting but definitely will be back for more!

Went for a birthday meal, wonderful setting great service. Had some fantastic recommendations from the waitress. The food was delicious and left a lasting impression. Definitely worth a visit, and certainly didn’t disappoint!

Locale alla mano ben frequento. Si sale velocemente con l’ascensore fino al 39 piano e si ha una vista mozzafiato dove vedi tutta la città sottostante.
