Sushi Corner in Oxford

Taberu was closed so decided to give this sushi place a try! An absolute hidden gem this is by far my most favourite sushi store in oxford, flavours are great salmon and avacado is definitely fresher than tabarus and it is more authentic compared to tabura as the rice is literal sushi rice. Whereas taberu has small portions made really unathetically tasting like a fake japanese sushi. Absolutely recommend every penny worth it in sushi corner! Customer service is very great too!

Was my favourite sushi place in Oxford. Been going there for years. But today the quality of the food was way down. Doesn’t look fresh at all.

Best place ever. Started going here last year, was my favourite place ever since then whenever I craved Asian dishes. The staff is so nice and friendly as well. Recently we had a guy with brown hair and glasses serving us and he is so respectful and attentive. Love this place!

Great food, with good atmosphere.

Really, really awesome place. We also tried to go to Taberu but it's closed. It had better reviews than sushi corner but we're really glad we ended up here. It opened our eyes to a whole world of fishy rice. The staff were friendly and helped us work out what we wanted from the menu. The place was really comfortable - at peak times people had to wait for a table but never too long. For a starter we had pumpkin croquettes which were delicious. The mayonnaise was vinegary and straight up one of the best parts of the meal. We also had agadashi tofu which was soft, sweet and in a delicious broth. We also had some edemame which were alright I guess. My girlfriend had a unagi don. I think eating eel is pretty dodgy but she seemed to have a good time. We had sets which were both great. I chose the special family one because it had salmon skin and holy hot damn let me tell you that's so good. It's hours later and I'm still thinking about that crunchy salmony goodness. It's a life changer, so good. Mackerel is my favourite fish and they did it justice on the nigiri too. For desert they all strawberry mochi but I had tofu pockets which were nice and sweet as a finale. Also we had some hot tea which was great. The glasses were so pretty they looked like artefacts from the national history museum. 10/10 restaurant it's the most I've enjoyed a meal in ages. What's the deal with the video they're playing of dodgy actresses pretending to enjoy sushi? They really went with the take where she dribbles half of it down her chin?

Came here because Taberu next door is closed. Ordered rainbow roll (8 pieces), soft shell crab hand roll, unagi (eel) don which comes with miso soup and salmon sashimi. The sashimi didn’t feel fresh and wasn’t juicy. The rainbow roll was wrapped with too much rice but the avocado inside was nice. The unagi don was good but not spectacular. Happy that it came with miso soup! The salmon sashimi comes as 4 pieces as I’ve asked the waitress but to my pleasant surprise we were given 5! The soft shell crab batter is too thick so was quite hard instead of crispy. Overall experience 5/10 and wouldn’t come again. One positive thing is that there is no service charge and the price was very good for a Japanese resto!

Ordered take out while on a trip to Oxford. Would highly recommend this place. Well packaged, good prices, tasty food!

From the other people's revuews this place looked nice but As soon as I have sat down and I felt the back of yhe chair poking on my back I knew something was off. I have ordered some gyuedon beef bento from them which comes as a package with some miso soup (actually it was more like 4 table spoons of some white hot noodle soup) and I am so sorry that I didn't took a pic of the other bits that it was served but will do from now on. I have ordered some what I tought to be beef I have received what looks like little bacon strips. It was more skin than beef, I had a really strong feeling that they were bacon strips. When asked about them, the staff claimed it was definitely not bacon but beef and then they start to chat in their language one with another sign of a very poor customers service. Anyways back to the main dish, my stomach immediately turned upside down and I have left the whole plater there and asked for the check which I have paid feeling like I was being robbed legally of my time and money. Now I know where NOT to eat in the future. 👍🏼

Came here multiple times, but have come here tonight and it's closed? States it's open on google and also on it's trading hours sign on the door.

El sushi es muy bueno por el precio que tiene. Todo lo que tiene salmón es excelente, también el atún picante y el rollo de langostinos tempura. La ensalada wakame también es muy agradable y la albóndiga de cerdo es probablemente una de las mejores albóndigas 'baratas' que se prueban. GOOD FOR SUSHI BUT NOT OTHER ITEMS Good food fresh sushi, fried rice and chicken katsu was a little off because the chicken was undercooked in the rice and overcooked in the katsu but other than that sushi was good and fresh and decent portions

Amazing, delicious sushi at low prices. Beautifully decorated, with a calm atmosphere. I got a salmon platter, which gave me a delightful variety of different types of sushi to try - I definitely recommend this option if you're looking to try a few different styles. The seaweed salad was refreshing and delicious. The strawberry mochi was not my favorite, but not bad. The waitress was very friendly and patient as I took a while to decide. I'd love to come here again.

I’m not happy since they rebranded the timings they are open on google maps are completely inaccurate. They used to have times when they weren’t open however now it says 12-10:30pm. I’ve just been at 3pm but they are closed. I am deeply disappointed It’s false advertising. Google maps says they are open but they aren’t

Delicious sushi to have in or order as a takeaway. Kind and nice staff. Tempura phoenix roll, crunch salmon roll and avocado hosomaki are the best.

This place is the nuts, I go probably twice a week the food is always unreal, 100% recommend.

Had a great sushi lunch with my husband. We did the lunch deal each plus got one extra spicy salmon sushi (as we were hungry) and had plenty of food. All really tasty and fresh. Under £30 including 3 cokes. Definitely recommend.

As somebody who had grown up in Japan I thought the sushi was really lovely! Despite that we were a large group they sat us down quickly and we were able to order all of our food. However then the shambles of our order happened…some people received all of their orders in one go, some person was told it was vegetarian but it was a meat dish…some people waited near 1 hour 30 minutes!!!! For their food to arrive :((( my friend had to ask them and there was no compensation nor any food refund :( sad to say the food was good but the service really hurt the atmosphere in our group and I really hope this will be resolved.

I only ordered 2 of their food: • Pan fried chicken gyoza (tori gyoza) This was very, very good! Cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside but filling were still soft and delicate. Tasted just. right. This is a must try. • Spicy tuna sushi roll Oh I loved it. Sushi rice was perfect, sticky, and soft. The fish itself was fresh. The restaurant itself is not very big, there is limited seating area inside but it is cozy and comfortable with some japanese decorations inside. You can tell that they are serving authentic japanese food. Will definitely come back to try their other menus.

I was very disappointed. Sushi was hot and it all fall apart. Had to eat with spoon as it was just rice with cucumber.

Great experience, authentic Japanese food with a tasty twist of Chinese. I would recommend getting the Chicken Katsu Sushi Roll, Number 64, and the Beef Don! Would definitely recommend, it’s the greatest sushi in Oxford! There are many nice workers genuinely willing to help for allergies and preferences.

Ordered food with Deliveroo. The Deliveroo driver never called and never attempted delivery. I called the restaurant and they said it’s not their problem and hung up on me repeatedly.

Pseudo-Japanese food with Chinese interpretations. I should have known from the Chinese takeaway style menu line-up! "A-ge-dashi tofu" - I had expected it would be served in a Japanese gravy saucewith mayonnaise. It wasn't, and came on a plate with mayo Are you joking? If anyone is interested, look up 揚げ出し豆腐 and compare with my pic. It was rather "a-ge" tofu (deep fried tofu)! The seaweed salad, named "chuka" (Chinese) salad: I have had good Chinese seaweed salad before but this one was not tasty at all - just sweet and sour. The "gyu-don/donburi" (shredded beef in teriyaki sauce served on rice: Again, this was just so not-Japanese. Too sweet and oily, onion too raw. I felt a little sick after eating it. Verdict: The food was nowhere near THE Japanese cuisine. Perhaps they serve good sushi, which we didn't try on our visit. I do eat at Chinese restaurants but I don't want other unassuming customers to think the food served at this place represents the Japanese cuisine! Incidentally, the prices on the main menu and "special" set menu are not consistent and the same dishes were priced differently from one another.

I don’t know how they do it but without fail the sushi is fresh. The rice is fresh and fluffy. The salmon and the sea weed. Nothing is dry. Nothing is small. Huge portions. Great prices. I love this place.

Nice food and friendly service. Sushi is lovely, especially the rolls. We ordered Curry chicken katsu Don, I really like that they separated the curry sauce in a small bowl aside. This makes my chicken stays crispy. 😃

I came here with a friend recently and it was very nice. We had an assortment of things: tempura prawns, chicken skin temaki, and some rolls, and everything was fresh and very tasty. Definitely one of my favourite places for sushi in Oxford, and it’s even good as a takeaway or delivery.

Freshly made sushi that was made to order, tasty, good value for money, and served by friendly staff. I will go again. July 2022 still brilliant, and just added their updated menu

Delicious! Staff were nice, food was tasty, good range of options, nice environment and good price.

I have never actually been to the restaurant itself but I regularly order delivery and I must say out all the Japanese restaurants in oxford, Sushi Corner has the best packaging, portions, price and not to mention taste. I am really impressed with their consistency of flavour and I would highly recommend them if you are a fan of Japanese food.

Decent at best, rice has clearly been left out for a while.

The place has limited indoor seating but is very cosy, the food is remarkable and the presentation is immaculate, great quality sashimi too. The bathroom is upstairs, The only issue we had was that our reservation didn't guarantee us a table on time, but they were nice enough to shift some people around so our group of six could sit down. I recommend the takoyaki (even if you don't like octopus) and the ebi tempura.

My partner and I love sushi and we were both seriously disappointed by the lack of freshness of the fish and bickering chef in the background. We felt as if we had eaten a meal which lacked the freshness and zing you want from sushi but not to the point of making us ill. Oh well…one next door is better but still had better elsewhere in Wimbledon (both sushi restaurants there are significantly better).

This small place is strongly recommend for a bite to eat on Cowley Road. Incredible variety of flavours - I particularly recommend the duck rolls from the lunch menu. Staff are friendly and the pricing is very reasonable.

This tiny restaurant delivers brilliant sushi and related dishes with good value for money. It's one of my favourite go to local restaurants for comfort food and sake.

My son and I enjoyed our dinner and was very pleased with food! I would say Wakame Salad is not to be missed as a started, also had Gayoza. We had Chricken Katsu Curry Bento and Dragon Roll Sushi. The presentation was next to none but the taste, amazing! Best sushi in Cowley Road I must say. Look forward to another trip to Sushi Corner soon 😊

As you can imagine this was alot of money for us. We waited and recieved a call to say our order had arrived. We collected it from the driver and shortly realised that we had the wrong order. We called sushi corner to let them know and they told us that they were going to send a driver with our order and to collect the other items. We waited and then called back to see where this driver was. They told us that he was outside and we made our way to collect our new orders. This was much effort for my friend who was in a wheelchair and it was wet and cold for the rest of us. Upon arrival, no new driver was outside, so we called the restaurant and was told that they were still on their way. We called the restaurant three times after this and was eventually told that no order was coming and that we were not getting a refund. The excuse was that the driver had finished an hour ago. This was unacceptable and caused myself and my friends much discomfort and put us £50 out of pocket. Do not order from here!

The best sushi in Oxford. Take away order I had the 2 pieces of salmon (many times) - absolutely delicious, presentation on point, fresh, taste authentic and I’m sure they was handmade. I’ve ordered this on many occasions and the standard remains high, excellent. I also love the pickled ginger. The prawn tempura is one of my favourites, prawns taste so good not over cooked, clean, tasty and that light batter is mouth watering. My guests who ordered was also happy with their order. Great service, had all the utensil that I asked for, the food came in a reasonable time. This is a restaurant I keep coming back to, they have a efficient team and some really good chiefs. Highly recommended by me.

Food is excellent, but only gave 3 stars as asked for no sesame on the order due to my son's allergy and his meal was covered in them! I own a takeaway and this is a huge mistake!!

My boyfriend and I live close to sushi corner and pop in regularly for a treat! They are very nice in there, always recognise us and give us free cans of coke. Food is always fresh and always tasty...tried their yaki soba for the first time yesterday and I have to say that was also up to scratch. It's a great find on cowley road, small and not cheap but definitely worth the risk since it's a small family business should really be supported in these hard times.

Take away during lockdown period. No photos on display even if you decide to go physically. Good food and service never the less.

Nice menu with a small dining area in the front of the restaurant and a small terrace in the front. The quality of the sushi was excellent and I arrived just before the government issued the stay at home order. Now they are only taking orders online but still open for takeout.

The set menu is value for money, especially the portion of rice in the bento box. All foods we ordered are tasty and good. The only downside is the rice which is not the typical Japanese sushi rice.

Went in at lunchtime on a Sunday. With various special offers, we ate well with a drink each for under £40. Everyone enjoyed there food and it seemed fresh to us. Service was efficient. No complaints.

2.5 ☆ To be fair. This place gives initial impression of serving Japanese cuisine. However, it has little to do with real, good Japanese food. I had tempura and Chuka wakame salad (Chinese swaweed salad). My food was too oily, dish presentation below average and I lost appetite for the rest of the day as my tummy struggled to digest it. I have noticed the "Special offer" menu was offering a starter + a main + a drink for £9.90 - at times more than total cost of the 3 items just bought outside of the Special menu.

Excellent, fresh sushi. Very helpful staff happy to answer any questions. Would recommend wholeheartedly!
