Shoryu Ramen in Oxford

What a banging experience, I have been a few times and always enjoyed the food-the bao buns especially. But today was my first time trying the ramen-DIVINE. I had the piri piri tonkotsu ramen, and my my my was it delicious. The broth was amazing, the pork belly was tender and melted in the mouth and the noodles were perfect. What a fabulous culinary experience to have for only £15 bowl on average. The waiting staff were just as top notch as well so lovely and attentive, adding to what was an already fab experience. The atmosphere was on point, with pleasant decor and music to build on the vibes. Honestly such a nice restaurant to spend a Sunday evening in. I thoroughly enjoy myself and will definitely be coming back again.

Lovely chicken Karage starter/side but main dish of Donburi was bizarrely cold and flavourless. Complained politely to staff who insisted that it was supposed to be cold and didn't offer any alternative. I'm not the kind of person that sends dishes back, this is like the only time in the last 5 years at any restaurant I've sent a dish back and disappointed by the response by servers. Other diners I was with were disappointed by their ramen. Unfortunately can't recommend. To be fair they did take my dish off the bill afterwards which I appreciate but unimpressed.

I am a big fan of Shoryu, mainly having it in London. This one I visited it recently but the taste was not the same. Not bad though. Lonely environment and service.

amazing food, ramen is consistently great. Sake selection is good and some lovely cocktail options. Service this evening was lovely, our waitress was so sweet. Will always come back here. Can’t fault anything.

Overall a mixed experience. The taste was consistently mediocre, the service was good, the price overall was too high. We ordered online and wanted to take the Christmas menu, it was supposed to be ramen as the main course. However, we chose the dish with pumpkin and it turned out to be a regular curry, it wasn't ramen. The mistake was ours. However, I ask the restaurant to add a picture of this dish online in the future. All other dishes have a picture when ordering online.

I am a Japanese noodle fans, I was so excited when I saw this restaurant when I was traveling in London, the restaurant looks right, I was expecting a nice Japanese noodle. But, after eating it, I have to say I disappointed. The soup is ok, the meat is ok, but the noodle is too soft. The noodles I eaten in Tokyo and Osaka are harder, more defined, even elastic. But the noodle in this restaurant isn't like that. My rating for this noodle 5 out of 10.

Sólo vine a almorzar para tomar un lugar de Ramen. Sólo que me dieron un lugar en un banco junto a la barra que estaba totalmente bien. Aunque me atendieron rápidamente noté que la dama a mi lado estaba olvidada. Luego recibí mi comida, pero tuve que pedir de nuevo mi bebida que vino más tarde. La zona no estaba bien servida así que para pedir la factura tuve que salir de mi mesa para encontrar a alguien. Al pagar pedí los 12. 5 % de cargo por servicio que se eliminará y luego se cuestionó el por qué. Una propina debe ser ganada, pero aquí es claramente tratada como un defecto que no me dejará fuera de regresar.

Food was delicious. Priced okay too. Service was nice. Service charge of 12.5% ​​is still clearly too much.

I was concerned that the kitchen didn't serve the food after saying "onegai shimasu", but although the taste of the tonkotsu ramen was bland, the ingredients were fine. Please note that Barikata is not hard at all.

La comida tardó 20 minutos en llegar. ¡Mi vaso de agua estuvo vacío durante 19 minutos! Cuando finalmente llegó la comida, el arroz al curry estaba duro como una roca y un poco mojado. Creo que realmente me decepcionaron los asquerosos electrodomésticos de cocina, y cómo el piso estaba tan sucio.

Tuvimos una excelente bienvenida y servicio de Leo (? ) el servidor. ¡Perdón si me equivoqué de nombre! Tenía delicioso y auténtico ramen, genmaicha y takoyaki picante. El servidor explicó bien el menú y diferentes opciones. Tenía un conocimiento real del menú y de los diferentes platos. Realmente disfrutamos de esta visita.

Manny was very welcoming and gave us a top notch service! Offered loyalty cards and even packed and labelled our leftovers for us to take home! Lovely atmosphere to dine and talk with friends.

They serve really good food and is using go to for lunch. Never disappointed on every visit. Mitop the manager and the entire team are always welcoming.

So it was my first time trying Shoryu Ramen in Oxford and to be very honest, I was thinking this place looks pretty decent. I saw the menu and thought the prices were a bit interesting but I thought let me at least give the food a try and see if it matches up to the price. I got the Prawn Katsu Curry and it actually went down really well. I usually go for the chicken but I decided to switch things up and go for the prawn... I wasn't disappointed with my decision at all! It was pretty cool whenever a new customer enter the restaurant and the waiter would take them to their seats, all the workers would shout something in Japanese which I thought was a very nice touch. Definitely would like to try more things on the menu the next time I come around.

We went there today for lunch and wanted to give a big shout out to the amazing staff. We had a voucher, which they hadn’t seen before, but they went above and beyond to make sure we could use it. They were so friendly and attentive during our meal and made some top recommendations. Even though the venue was at full capacity, the staff made every effort to check on us. They’re a total asset to the place. The food was delicious, as were the cocktails. Overall, a really lovely experience. Will 100% be going back!

I just needed some to hot the spot and a meaty hot ramen was perfect! Shoryu always deliver!

Ramen is still the most delicious here~ Really rich soup, real Japanese taste, coming here can always satisfy your craving for ramen!

Rude waiter. Really bad experience

Ramen is not cheap, but it tastes good. There are a lot of people and you have to wait.

The soup at Kotteri Hakata Tonkotsu was well-made and delicious. The chashu is also thick and flavorful. I used Barikata noodles, but they had a slightly watery and sticky texture. Garlic is placed in a metal container on the table. You can crush one piece yourself and put it in. Crushed garlic has a strong spiciness, but if you use it in small amounts, it's really delicious. The taste of Genki Don's Shiba-zuke made me feel nostalgic. I'll come back later.

Una cálida bienvenida fue agradable y el amable miembro del personal nos mostró a nuestra mesa y nos explicó el menú, que fue apreciado. La comida de todos los 5 de nosotros era delicioso y las porciones eran amplias. El personal era muy agradable en todo y con las ofertas especiales bajaron la factura a c£ 170 incl los 12. 5% de cargo por servicio, que era buena relación calidad-precio. Muy recomendable y gracias a Harish y sus colegas por una noche encantadora.

Great location. Staff forgets about their customers and the food is just kind of like cardboard flavoured. Ate here a year ago and the standard has definitely dropped. It's really bad. Especially if you consider the price. You pay a lot here for meat and it just isn't worth it.

Delicious food and great staff!!!!

Service was good. The shoryu bun with chicken karaage was delicious but the japanese katsu curry don was so-so. Spicy takoyaki very good - piping hot and crispy on the outside. This is just another shopping mall Japanese eatery, great for quick lunch or casual dinner.

Below average food. The Karaage bun was 4/5 but the donburi wasn't to my liking I'd give it a 2/5.

I heard from a British friend that this Shoryu Ramen is good, so I went to try it. The interior decoration of the shop is very Japanese style, and the service is good. Every time a customer comes in, he will play the drum😆 I think the wild food is good, you can give it a try👍🏻

Really lovely atmosphere, helpful staff and nice food.

Chicken karaage wasn't seasoned at all, pork gyoza didn't taste of anything and came all stuck together, tofu poke bowl provided only with soy sauce so also wasn't very flavourful, the tofu was plain. pork bun was nice but just had a sad little lettuce leaf and one slice of cucumber in it. Wagamamas is better

Great place with great food - finally ate something decent in England! Lol The location is lovely. You have view access into the kitchen and can see the food being prepared. The host was very sweet and I had to wait 4-5 minutes to be seated. I ordered online, as that was an option and honestly I enjoyed it since I came alone and am quite indecisive. I had the Dracula ramen, chicken karaage and the aloe Vera juice. The meal was 31 £ (discretionary service charge included). I must say it's a bit on the pricier side, although I must admit that the ramen alone filled me quite nicely. The wings were an overkill on my part, but worth the money! I would definitely come back again!

Best ramen we have ever had. It tastes so flavorful and authentic! Totally worth your time and money, we will come back every time we come to Oxford. The Bao was good as well, but the super star meal here is their ramen.

Not up there with restraunt in London food arrived warm all seemed a bit rushed and my brownie was microwaved and still cold not heated also I had a metal cooking device starting at me covered in mold through the glass perspec screen I told the waitress she just laughed hygiene poor indeed ... Very overpriced not impressed

Ramen is too salty and smell not freshly cooked (pork animal smell is too much) for Kids menu I was shocked to have Ikea plastic dish serving + poor amount of icecream. a micro scoop of ice cream served in Ikea cup... They even serve ikea spoon for kids with bited mark on... please if you serve kids menu, be delicate on details. i'm not coming for food to be served like home or worst.

Very nice ramen in a fun and vibrant restaurant

The restaurant is good, that has so many choices of food and the staff are quite nice. I recommend Signature Ramen. This is very nice and big sides, value of money.

Excellent, tasty food with vegan options. Clean restaurant, excellent service. Although it’s located in the lower ground floor of the Westgate, it was light and airy. Loads of different options. We chose the white ramen which was part of the happy hour offer between 3 and 6pm. Delicious and highly recommended.

I was not informed and there is no any reminder mentions that “ 12.5%” service fees are compulsory to collect until I got the receipt. This is first and also the last bad experience I had in UK. Well, there is no service if the waiter let you stay in front of the gate to wait while actually there are lots of unoccupied seats which could not be regarded as service. Well, you have to wait at least 20-30mins to get your food 🙃

Quality of food is declining whilst the cost is increasing. However, the service is truly shocking. Avoid this place. Goto Pho ( a few floors up), it’s much better food wise and the service is far better

It's coming and going to suit the tastes of Japan. I think it would be a good idea to eat tonkotsu ramen overseas. As others have commented, I think the service charge is too high. There is no need for a drum when entering the store.

Very warm Welcome and extremely tasty food. Staff are excellent, attentive and polite. Really good value for money and the design of the restaurant is a delight.

my first visit, & with my son, no idea what we wanted, but out server, LIZA, was incredibly helpful & knowledgeable, & helped us with all our questions. we ended with a wonderful meal, the seafood ramen & the pork ramen, with side of chicken wings. i also tried the saki triple, which was great. the food, was delicious, & the whole evening was made more special with the help of liza, & all the staff there. fabulous place, highly recommend.

Picked a dish which was delivered. Then noticed half the ingredients were missing, seafood should have been prawn and squid …. Just prawns … when I questioned this I just got “we didn’t have any squid so we put extra prawns in”…! Well I didn’t want just a prawn dish or I would have ordered one.!!! Not once did they mention this when ordering or when the dish was delivered… never apologised ! Shocking customer service..!!!

The below dish was £13.95 (prawn katsu) but came with just two prawns…. We felt a bit scammed to be honest as the portion was so small. When we complained they said we could order more dishes but we would need to pay for them… not quite what we were hoping.

the service was extremely bad, we had to wait around 20 minutes just for our water! we had dogs so we were made to sit outside, and they charged us service! they had rubbish attention to detail and gave us a singular tissue when we asked for chopsticks because ramen is difficult to eat with a spoon.

First time we went to eat here on Sunday evening 7 pm: place was busy, ramen was almost hot, tasty and meet slices on top were delicious! Next time 10 days later on Wednesday around 7 pm: place almost empty, Ramen almost cold, meet slices on top are fatty. My stomach was upset during the night, everything came out in a greasy liquid form 2x 😳 Not a good experience! Won't be going there again! It's a shame because Mochi is amazing here!

The best ramen, must try... Non halal (they serve pork). They have kids menu.

Food was good and love the vibe there. The management could be improved though as there were lots of empty tables and there wasn’t a long queue, but we still waited for a while to get assigned to one.

It was the most delicious ramen I've had outside of Japan. I drank the classic tonkotsu and both ramen soups. I happened to see it and suddenly went in, so I was very happy and satisfied with the taste, which exceeded my expectations. There are a lot of harsh comments from other people, but since I live in the United States, I am quite satisfied with this amount without adding tip.

The female Indian staff looked at my phone while I was using it. This is disrespectful towards my privacy. She should know this country isn’t india

Awful experience. The chef put her hand in our soup to take something out of our food ( It is open kitchen) and sent it to our table! When we asked, the Waitress said that the tofu wasn't cooked so the chef took it out !!! We had to leave.....don't eat there

One of the best amenities meals I have ever eaten. Had the pork tan tan.. my expectations are high and the food lived up to its quality and taste. My only criticism is that it took a very long time gor the food to be served.

On first impressions we were excited to try this restaurant, however it went downhill from there. After 45 minutes our drinks finally arrived, then after an hour some of food arrived. 10 minutes later another of the dishes we ordered arrived. After querying where the remaining 2 meals were we were told the orders had not gone through. As we were needing to get to the theatre we asked for the bill. Sometime later this arrived, charging us for all the meals ordered, including the ones that never arrived and a 12.5% service charge. They eventually removed the missing meals and the service charge. By this point we had been in the restaurant for over 2 hours. The food that did arrive seemed very good but the service was dreadful.

Firstly the tempura was delicious and crunchy. The reason we removed service charge was because we were seated in front of the kitchen which was directly in the range of the draught coming from the door whenever waiting customers were building up and propping the door open. We asked the service staff to ask the customers to move/close the door but nothing happened so we asked to move seats. It really ruined things. A shame as they had an excellent manager who paid attention to our nut allergy requirement.

The experience was not at all good. The food was fine , but I lost my appetite after seeing how rude and ill mannered the manager was at the store towards his staff. Would not recommend the scene to anyone.

The experience was bad . Food was fine , but the manager lacked mannerism . He was not being polite towards his employees and was seen screaming. This unfair atmosphere made me loose my appetite.

The general manager Was really helpful with suggestions, also prajwal was pretty quick with the service and attentive.

the buns was nice however overpriced, the service was dreadful didn't listen and was distracted with other people got order wrong and didnt care when asking for the bill took over 25 minutes and even then we had to ask 2 more times to then be hit with an automatic service charge 12.5%!!!! which is ludicrous then got chased out the door by staff

Both ramen and the mocktails were fantastic. We had a lovely meal, and the staff was helpful & kind as well despite the busy hours. Thank you, will be back.

If my wife says it's the best, then it's the best! Haha Joking apart! Shoryu is amazing! It maintains a standard of excellence and service in any unit and the one in Oxford is not far behind. For those who like this style of food, I highly recommend it!

I wanted to take my husband and children for an enjoyable evening out for my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, I feel totally dissatisfied with the whole experience. The food was unimpressive, ambience cold, drab - awful tbh and the 'service' was non existent. Rude staff, slamming dishes of food and drinks down on front of us with a glare. Absolutely no attempt to make the experience pleasant and yet you get charged a 12.5% service charge! £140 for a very bad experience. I left really wishing I had booked elsewhere. For that kind of money I expect to get a good meal and decent service not a souless, worse than a bad canteen waste of time. Never to be repeated

Well, it's predominantly a ramen house with a few other bits on the menu. Simple, clean and you g pleasant staff. They bang the drums nor each new customer. My family enjoyed their food, mine was cold, barely warm and when l complained,l was told it's supposed to be like that. Warm /cold rice, cold meat raw veg...too little time in the microwave Shame.....stick to noodles l guess..

Just went today. Very bad service! We sat down for 10 minutes but no one came to us. However, after we started to eat, there were up to five waiters keep coming up asking whether we were fine - which is a bit too much. Then as long as we finished one dish, someone would pop out and ask "do you want me to clear this plate for you?" And this lasted until we finish our last one - seemed that they just want to kick us out ASAP!

We thought we'd give it a try as the chain has a cult following. Staff who sat us didnt understand english then went off and hung around by the service hatch. Sent over another girl who was nice to take the order and understand my allergy. Asked for table water and didnt get it. Other tables got sat and served before us. Food finally came it was lukewarm and not a huge portion. 2 very limp bits of broccli. No checkbacks and had to hassle them to pay and leave. Then got slammed with a 4 95 service charge. For what? They didnt do anything Wont return or recommend

The best vegan ramen 🍜 I've ever eaten!!

If the guest comes earlier, they have empty table, they should assign to have those emptytable. But they didn't, need to ask why keeping guests to wait, then they react.

I am affraid our experience was not a good one but it seems very popular. Lots of Asian customers so it must be doing something right.

Mediocre Ramen and not close to authentic. They double charged my credit card too.

The food is good and the quality is always consistent but this restaurant is continuously let down by the awful service. Whether it's packed or empty, it takes an age to receive drinks or for the bill. Like the food quality, the speed in which it comes out to you is also good but the negligence by the front of house team really let's the restaurant down. There seems to be little to no communication or organisation. Go for the ramen, but add an extra hour to your parking!

Unfortunately, a bit of a mixed bag on our visit. We had a chicken wing that wasn't completely cooked and a shame, but my partner didn't enjoy her food. I, however enjoyed my ramen and the other chicken wings and gyozas. They did offer us a replacement dish or a refund on the chicken wings, which we accepted, they also offer a small discount as an apology. These things do happen...
