Surfside Cafe Bar in Conwy

We ate here one evening as a group. We knew it was simply pizza and after Paddleboarding thought it would be the best option. The tables needed to be cleaned thoroughly as they were sticky and grimey but we made do with the spills being wiped up and the fabric chairs were disgusting with food/dirt ground into the chair arms, back and seat. We weren’t off to a good start but it was soon to get worst. The pizzas were either undercooked and cold in the middle or burnt black. Really disappointing. We had to send multiple back to be replaced or cooked for longer. The server was apologetic but offered no compensation. The price of the pizza was £11.95 and way overpriced priced. I’d have been disappointed for the quality at £5 per pizza so we felt well and truly ripped off. We had a great day at Adventure Snowdonia so it was no reflection on the place but it was a very disappointing end to our day.

We visited as a large family group for dinner to find that out reserved tables had not been cleaned and the state of the upholstered chairs were so vile I didn’t want to sit on them! The only items on the menu were pizza and chips so you’d think they could at least get that right. Well no, every pizza that came out was either under cooked or burnt. The pizza base tasted of cardboard and the vegetables were clearly tinned as the mushrooms were a disgusting shade of green in which they have the nerve to charge £10.95 for.

It's OK - it has a captive market and based on the surfing and other outdoor activities, it's probably reasonable that the menu is quite basic. The pizzas were quite nice, the chips were hard (maybe undercooked) but the service was pretty quick on one occasion and really really slow on another. The staff are mainly young, very keen and very polite but quite inexperienced and probably mostly off to university in a couple of months so I suspect there's quite a turnover. It's good that there are large TVs - lots of Olympics and Hundreds Cricket to keep the teenagers entertained.

Ate here a few times during our surfing course. Burgers were excellent, as were salads at lunchtime. One of our party was disappointed with his pizza though. Good bar with local beer, lager and spirits.

It was a bit of a breezy day so a nice warm leek and potato soup was very much welcomed for sure. Reasonably priced and served quickly. Very nice.

The actual surf Snowdonia place is excellent, the food however is a rip off (£3.50) for a sausage roll with hardly any sausage meat in it) other options on menu all way overpriced too because they assume they have you in there and people will pay it . I have never seen or eaten food so poor and the price is horrendous. I asked a waiter to get me a supervisor/ manager to explain this and after 5 minutes waiting I again asked a different person and again waited and waited and nobody come . It’s a massive shame and the management need to look at this as several other people heard me and they agreed and won’t be returning because of the price of food . Please don’t expect people to adhere to over inflated prices because they are there .

The food and ambience here is good. The menu is basic but great tasting. The pizzas are huge and really delicious plus you can take out food. We loved the pizzas, yet the healthy options are plentiful and also very tasty. The salmon salad was great. Best recommendation is the loaded chilli nachos couldn’t get enough of them!! The bar staff are great as are the espresso martinis!!!

Very good food, great setting and lots of nice things to eat. Just off the main road to Trefriw. Lots of parking.

Enjoyed just sitting watching the surfers. Friendly staff and a nice vibe amongst staff! Nobody bothers you, coffee was good and food was tasty.

We stayed over in the pods and ate at the restaurant in the evening. Its a really lovely set up looking out over the water. The food was good but took a while to get served! Ordered more drinks but they were forgotten.

Waited an age for coffee that was nice when we finally got it, we were waiting for family members to finish surf lesson so didn't worry too much as guessed just unlucky (everything expensive but guess overheads high as surroundings nice). But later decided when everyone back together to have lunch, but we waited at counter about 10 minutes with no other customers, while a couple of staff chatted and fiddled about around till whilst studiously avoiding us. So we voted with our feet and went over the road to a little cafe that made fantastic hand made burgers fresh at 1/3 of the price with attentive service!

We had lunch with our two boys and the food was reasonably priced with enough options to ensure everybody had a choice they liked. The cheese and ham panini were excellent and our youngest loved the old favourite chicken nuggets and chips. The staff were friendly and all tables had great views of the surf lagoon.

On May 20th @ 1300 we visited ,The centre was very impressive we stopped for a coffee ordered one expesso a soya lattee and white tea , when I paid the girl asked if i wanted to pay in Aussie dollars I said no need the card was loaded with pounds already ,we waited over 15 mins for the order and it was wrong, i told her she said no it was what was ordered ,I said I ordered tea her reply was ok but you have to pay for it, her attitude was quite arrogant and unprofessional I did not receive be the tea, as she walked away and sat down by the bar??,when I got home and checked my reciept she had some how charge me in aussie $ i was also charged for the exchange of the money NOT HAPPY at all please train this girl In the art of professionalism and manners not a good look for your centre

family lunch-good points first food is good value and restaurant is clean. bad points-service needs overhaul. Girl on till missed two of our orders and did not tell us to go collect drinks order from around a corner. When we asked where the kids meal was they said we hadn't ordered them-no apology Waited a little longer again for the missing meals. One coffee was cold-took that back and childrens pizza was not nice at all. Staff seemed disinterested. Salads and paninis very good value. Will stick to that next time.

Been at Surf Snowdonia for three days and decided since its our last night to stay on site and eat at the resteraunt. Lovely view and a pleasant atmosphere staff were friendly and the choice of drinks was good. Menu wise was ok and all four of us opted for the burgers which came with a choice of chips and coleslaw. The food portions were of good size and all four different burgers were cooked to perfection. Since on the that day we had climbed Snowden it was nice to just chill and the setting was perfect and wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. Thank you

After an hour of activities in the water you need something hot and quickly served and this ticked those boxes. Food was simple and filling and was just what we needed

we walked in late evening and had a snack with beer and enjoyed the relaxed vibe. Made me think that learning to surf could be a good idea too !!

Good spot for grub/drinks while watching the surfers do their thang tables outside as well if the sun shines.

Called in for lunch, pretty limited, dry meat pies, overpriced pretty much ever ting, could be a goldmine, get a catering manager in quick before it all goes bust.

I took some visitors to Surf Snowdonia to see the venue, they were so impressed we decided to stay and watch the surfing whilst enjoying a coffee and a piece of cake.On our arrival at the coffee shop we were informed not in particularly friendly way that they were not serving hot food until lunchtime, in fact the member of staff was unsmiling and quite abrupt so our first impression of the Coffee Shop was disconcerting. We were four in number, one of our party is Gluten Free but unfortunately there was nothing available, not even in a pre-packaged form. The portion sizes of the cakes were inconsistent one of our guest had a huge slice but for the same cost the other slice was very small. One of our guests ordered a hot chocolate, unusually this came in a small coffee cup and just tasted of hot milk. When we complained the cup was just topped up with a very weak chocolate and milk. I was still drinking my own coffee when the waitress came and removed all the used crockery on our table, including my saucer and spoon, before we could stop her. We were disappointed in the unproffessional attitude and rather poor level of customer service. We are locals and like to promote the area and tourist venues but I don't think I will be bringing anyone else. This has been my poorest experience of coffee shops in this area. What a shame.

We visited early one morning when the breakfast menu was available . I had a bacon sandwich which was a little on the dry side and quite expensive . Coffee was ok .

I found the food to be rather disappointing in all honesty. Breakfast options pretty much just fried breakfast or stale cereal and lunch prepackaged salads and sandwiches, pie/sausage roll and chips. Food totally missed the mark and takes forever to come out of the kitchen. Not sure what they're doing in there to be honest. Think they need to review their food offerings. This cafe could be really great if they changed it a little. The last thing I want after a good surf session is pie and chips... listen to the surfers pls.

Kids loved it, coffee was good! What more could a woman want? Pizza, burgers, salad and a good selection of drinks. Not too expensive, with a great view of the surfing. Chairs were comfortable. Staff kept everything really clean. Recommended.

The coffees and hot chocolate were very tasty and their was a good choice of sandwiches and paninis and a selection of cakes (about £2.10 a slice) There were hot meals as well to order but we were just stopping for a snack and to view the surfers. Very clean, modern and warm.

Came here December 2016 for a Staff Christmas meal and it was as good then as it was for another Staff meal this January.

It is a lovely area and the place itself is lovely.it is quite remote and it is for a specified cliental with the surfing ..We were a family of 9 .The chicken goujons and chips were not very appetising as the chicken was overlooked and a very dark brown.The homemade soup my daughter had looked very nice.They need a better system for the coffee and teas or at least more staff to serve .We had quite a wait for our drinks with a 3 year old in tow she didn't understand why it took so long .They need more variety in what they do in my opinion .Dont think I would go back

Great food, good choice and reasonably priced. Good location facing main wave area. Very relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff, excellent service. Take away food available too.

Yo estaba deseando visitar surf snowdonia. Es internacionalmente conocida por los surfistas como el primer jardín de olas, y ha habido bastante agitación alrededor. La ubicación es impresionante y las personas estaban disfrutando de las olas. Mi problema (y la razón para escribir la crítica)...

Found this restaurant by chance. We were staying not far away so gave it a go. Easy to find & free parking. Staff very welcoming. Restaurant has a view over the surfing area. Lovely modern decor comfortable seating & very clean. Lots of young people there presumably residents from the glamping pods & people who had been surfing. My husband had steak cooked to his liking & he really enjoyed it. I had prawn & garlic linguine, not so good. Lacking in taste, only 6 prawns & saturated in oil. I would go again though & hope that the pasta was a one off. The menu is limited but good things on offer. Prices average. A ĺoveĺy place to dine if you don't want somewhere fancy.

Well i wasn't expecting much in the way of food at this place but, to be honest i would have to rate the Christmas meal that all 9 of us had as the best to date.The food was plentiful, the staff were excellent and the whole experience of a staff party was truly great.The staff could not do enough for any of us and genuinely the Christmas food was the best that we have eaten out for many a year.Thanks for the party spirit!Brilliant!

This is a picture of a Surf Snowdonia pizza. Found a couple of hairs on it too. When a member of staff was confronted they were very careless and rude and just said they didn't do refunds. Worse experience in a restaurant/bar/deli I've ever had.

We were looking forward to seeing the Christmas market at Surf snowdonia but as we were hungry decided to visit the cafe first. It was very busy with queues but that was ok, we didn't mind. Joined the queue and when it was our turn I asked what hot food was available as there was very little on display. I then asked for three different items that I was informed was available, when the member of staff told me, "but you can't order it now as we won't reserve it" doh?! Well why tell me it was available then?! She then went into the kitchen as I said I would be quite willing to wait the 10 minutes for food but was not willing to have to queue up again. After a wait, another member of staff returned and said we couldn't order it. Very disappointed that the person who originally served me didn't have the courtesy to come back. We promptly walked out. The Xmas market had been well advertised so disappointing that the venue was not able to cope with the numbers and shocking customer service!

Spoke to a waiter who looked down his nose at me for asking in Welsh for a table, that just really annoyed me, well you are in Wales we speak Welsh get over it. I know there are Welsh speakers there, the use of the language should be encouraged rather than making it look like a piece of little England.In saying that food was ok they do have some local produce on the menu.Service was ok apart from the waiter who first served us.

Wow i love this place, the staff are wonderful , we decided to have lunch there, and i was not expecting to have an excellent meal, because that is what it was, and i love that you can watch the surfers whilst having your meal, the children loved it to, and the young man who served us, went over and above, he was delightfull, so i give top marke's for this venue and restaurant...........

Although we haven't had a chance to try out the amazing surf facilities yet, we have been to the restaurant a handful of times. The place itself is amazing and provides the fantastic views of the surf pool whilst you can sit back and relax with a coffee, beer, snacks or a meal. The restaurant area is very modern and contemporary, yet has a relaxed atmosphere and feel to the place.Strangely the bar area is at the other end of the room, so if you want a drink, or to ask for a table in the restaurant, you have to walk the whole length of the restaurant to the bar. Ideally they could do with a waitress station/welcoming station at the start of the restaurant. This would help customers to feel more relaxed rather than having to walk past people trying to enjoy their meals... Like some awkward catwalk. Unfortunately, when we've been there the customer service hasn't been the best. Each time the service is slow, they never seem to have wine glasses (?) and the staff seem to be more interested in chatting amongst each other than providing high quality service. There seems to be a manager/senior member of staff working there, who has been quite abrupt and rude towards us and other customers which is extremely disappointing. Maybe we've caught them on bad days, I don't know? However it would be amazing to see this place do well and thrive within the community. So we're hoping the customer service improves and this is just teething problems.It would be awesome if they could put on some events during the winter to keep people coming and secure the jobs of the staff working there. Perhaps a NYE party etc.? Looking forward to going again soon and leaving having had a better experience than previous visits.

We visited the restaurant at surf snowdonia today for lunch. We felt very welcomed when we arrived by the staff. For our lunch I had the beef shin burger with perl las, which was very tasty with the house fries, and my wife had mushroom and goats cheese campanelle. We look forward for our next visit and hopefully get some surf in as well!

What a pleasant find did not expect such a great meal on site. Highly recommended for the family or anybody that wants great activities in a beautiful setting

Ate lunch while watching the surfing, which is clearly the main reason to eat here. Very helpful for entertaining a small child. Service was good, although it did slow down as it got busier. Not particularly cheap but child's burger, ribs and chilli pizza were all tasty and good sized. We even took some of the pizza away with us.

15 minute wait for drinks, then only after complaining. Waited another 15 minutes for snacks, still did not appear, so complained, money back and left. Will not be back.

I am not a surfer. Took my son to surf, whilst we with famillyfrom Spain sat in Cafe. We were all very disappointed. Ordered cold drinks and snacks. Told could not take drinks outside, so why were there tables and other people drinking there with GLASS containers?. After 15 minutes although we were in the cafe, drinks had not appeared, complained, told due to fault with Till !!!. After another wait of 15 minutes still no snacks, complained again. Told due to being busy, it was 6pm on a Sunday night and half the tables were empty. Manager not very helpful, very poor custommer service, asked for money back. My Spannish familly just could not beleive the poor service. They will not be back. This could be an exciting project for non surfers to visit, but custommer service must improve.

While watching the people surfing it was nice to have a nice cup of coffee and cake from this excellent cafe.

Only had coffee when we visited but others were eating and all looked good! Good place to sit in the warm and watch all the energetic surfers!

As a local I had visited surf snowdonia last year and an earlier visit this week. I'd been impressed with the facilities and how friendly the staff are. The soft play is great. However myself and my husband have today been disappointed. We initially sat in the canteen/cafe area however when I asked for a restaurant menu and if it was ok to sit in the canteen area we were advised to sit in the restaurant area as we would need a table number on ordering the bar. We had picked a table we wanted but asked to move by the window with our little one. This was fine. I had asked the previous waitress if I could bring a chair in with me from the canteen area as my little one sits in a booster chair rather than a high chair as she has a tendency to climb out of a normal high chair. The gentleman in non uniform serving in the bar who I can only assume is management tried to tell me I would not need that chair as my booster seat would fit on one of the large comfy chairs. I did not want my child on a booster seat which was not clipped to the chair for safety she is after all just one years old. He quickly realised his mistake however I didn't feel it was his place to tell me what I did and didn't need for my child. My husband went to order his and my lo's meals whilst I planned to get a salad from the salad bar. In the meantime an Australian couple wandered in with their tray of canteen food and coffee. I felt the staff member on duty at the bar was very rude to this particular lady. The restaurant was very quiet at that point and the man proceeded to tell her she should not have eaten her deli good in that area. This is fine however, there is no clear segregation of the areas other than the chairs on which you sit. They have a maitre Dee station however this was pushed to one side and was not in use. At this point I felt very uncomfortable as the lady and the staff member had a bit of a to do, especially as I was about to head off to the canteen for my salad as I had assumed previously this would be OK given that I had already asked where to sit. Whilst eating lunch I noted a number of groups coming to the bar taking menus and goi g to sit back in the canteen section so I can't understand why we were not ale to do this. Not only that during the meal the man came over asked how my husbands food was but not mine or my little ones. I found this rude as he simply could have asked is everything ok with the food? I had been really excited to bring my husband here as he had not been before shame of it is I'm not sure he'll be wanting to come back now given the rude nature of service which previously had been so good. The food was good however there was no mozzarella on the pizza just Parmesan. We also waited 20 mins for the ice cream sundae advertised on the kids menu. What turned up was 2 scoops in a bowl. Big disappointment given the wait.

Popped in three times since it has opened. Each and every time the service has been incredibly slow and I feel the food is overpriced. I noticed they were selling Cornish ice cream and English crisps! There is also a lack of Welsh signage . I would like to see more local produce. I do hope these are all 'teething problems'
