Supha's Street Food Emporium in Plymouth

Don't even think about NOT going to Suphas. One of the best street food restaurants I've been to. Staff are delightful and welcoming, the food is superb. Their salt and pepper squid I could eat every day, so moreish. It can get busy, but that's a good thing. If you get a window seat, the view over the harbour and yachts is lovely especially as the sun sets. You can see all the kitchen and staff cooking such a variety of beautiful food.... the aromas filtering out into the restaurant really get your taste buds going. I really cannot wait to go back.

One of the best eaterys in Plymouth. The food is brought straight to your table as soon as it ready, the staff are most welcoming and attentive. Being Gluten free its very easy to eat here, most of the menu actually! You can spend hours here.

First time visiting went with friends who recommended it

Excited to try this place and it's okay. The Vietnamese noodles were a little too greasy and the curry was more coconut milk than any content. Great to try if you like south east Asian food though.

HAD THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE HERE EVER. I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews however there is a time and a place when I have no choice. I have been up all night making multiple trips to the toilet and have suffered excruciating pain as a direct result of dining at ‘suphas emporium’. I’ve honestly never tasted food as bad and I knew something wasn’t right as I left the restaurant. I haven’t had food poising in years but all of a sudden last night I underwent a dreadful experience as the food took its toll on my body. Far past use by date ingredients and very poor hygienic practices will be to blame. In addition to this the atmosphere and levels of noise within the building I can only describe as like being at a Zoo. The kitchen chefs were aggressively smashing pans together and dropping kitchen utensils constantly and ultimately the service was just shocking. To top it off the principle of paying to go through such an experience represents shocking value for money and ultimately money ‘not well spent’. I dine out a lot but have never experienced anything quite as bad.

We haven't been to Supha's for a while, and we were really pleased to be back there to celebrate two family birthdays. Fabulous meal, served to us by Jum. Food was all freshly prepared and arrived very quickly. So tasty!

Great place for an anniversary meal

Still spot on! Had not been for a quite a while, so it was on my radar to stop off again this visit. Good call, was not disappointed. Bustling venue on the 'other' side of Sutton Harbour. Nice views overlooking the Harbour despite the scaffolding and on going works. Slightly brisk, but efficient, Asian service provides an authentic ambiance. Lots of choices on the menu but all the dishes were well cooked and tasted great. Recommended and look forward to coming back.

The scallops were especially delicious!

The fried monkfish was lovely, as the sauce dip (quite hot). The fried tempura vegetables were tasty, although watch out for a few fried chili's. The sweet and sour dish was tasty, we had it with fried chicken. I didn't take a snap of the pad thai, but was as you'd expect. Prices very reasonable for quality and quality. I know some people have mentioned the spice. The spice level is higher than most places, more like Southern Indian for example. Overall, we enjoyed it. It might depend on what you pick, but we don't care for oysters.

What a wonderful location and food.

My go to spot when visiting Plymouth, fresh fish, fiesty south East Asian flavours, and friendly service. Right on Sutton Harbour so can sit out the front in good weather.

A warm welcome even though we had not made a reservation. Delicious and tasty Spicy food from a wide but not excessive choice. Mix of good quality Asian street food. A Thai, Indonesian and Asian mix. When the weather is good, beautiful views over the harbor.

Having worked at plymouth many times, this is one of my two favourite restraints. Unlike most sea food restraunts. Suphas is not going down the fine dining line or expensive decor. The Staff are polite and kind, without being false. The food is perfect. And I look forward to returning, as a sea food lover at a resnable price.

Really good food. Soft shelled crab and monkfish were delicious. Wine chosen was really nice imo, too. Would recommend. Hopefully the scaffolding goes soon!

This was my second time at Suphas (I really want to know how you pronounce that) and it's one of my favourite places to eat in Plymouth. The food tastes so good and each time the bill has been less than I thought. There's a great selection and everything I've had has been incredibly tasty and well prepared. The service is warm and prompt and the decor is nice. Had a cocktail there as well and those are well made. They don't crossover into the too sweet category with their mojitos which a lot of people do. If people were visiting me in Plymouth, this is where I'd take them.

Great food but over the top anti dog attitude We’d booked a dog friendly table but on arrival we were welcomed with you can’t bring your dog inside ! I knew that I just wanted to check in !!! Shame about the the attitude but hey

🐐🐐🐐 nothing else to say. The freshest seafood. It’s the best restaurant in Plymouth if you are a seafood lover like me (other non seafood dishes are great too.) But that’s coming from someone who’s worked in the industry for over 10 years.

Had a lovely dinner at Supha's in Plymouth at the harbour. Make reservations as the restaurant is most of the time fully booked. Food is good, service is quick and friendly people. The whole chicken is indeed a whole chicken! Sticky rice option is not that special, eat it when warm, when it is cold its like super glue.

Ordered a takeaway (collection) from Supha’s after seeing the glowing reviews and after we were all craving thai food. The food was of high quality, authentic with fresh ingredients. Cooked with your choice of meat/veg options. And to your desired level of spice. Great value, service and portions. I got the red curry and made the minor mistake of going for the mild version, as it is subjective of course. Would go for the medium/hot next time! But was still very tasty. Upon collecting we could see why people chose to dine it. It seems like a warm, unfussy eatery with a great view -overlooking the harbour. Look forward to dining in next time.

Lovely food and great atmosphere. Looking out onto the harbour on a sunny day it feeels like being on holiday in another country. Pity about the scafolding on the building above it but you don't see it when your inside.

Went there on the 25th may 2024 in the afternoon for a my birthday meal great food but the service let it down .We felt very rushed and the lady serving us was very abrupt and did not have much patience which spoilt it for us .

Wow- came across this little gem whilst staying nearby.Cooked fresh, fantastic flavours - had the monkfish (No2 ) on the menu and coconut rice as a side.Definitely recommend - excellent value for money and will be returning.

Amazing authentic Thai street food. The fish dishes are all outstanding.

Great service, very average food. I had the Vietnamese noodles with holy basil and it honestly tasted like your average Chinese takeaway with a few sliced cucumbers on top. I wanted that typical Thai/Viet sweet, salty, bitter, sour, and spicy but it was so, so bland and oily. The sweetcorn fritters were pretty good. The fried crab was okay too, as anything deep fried is dipped in sweet chilli is. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong thing but I’ll also say that I think the menu set up needs a bit of work. Papaya salad is only available as a main which is a bit odd. I just wanted a small side plate as served in Thailand but it seemed you needed to add a protein to make it a main. Okay food if you’ve never been to Thailand, but disappointing and incomparable to the real thing sadly.

I had no idea this place existed and feel like I have discovered the best place to eat in Plymouth. Run by Dan and his Thai wife this place is seriously authentic Thai street food at an affordable price. An incredible menu and wine list. Our new favourite restaurant in Plymouth.

This is the second time I have been and I always worry that going back it won't be the same as the first time but it didn't disappoint. Food was delicious and the service was lovely. Got there at opening time thinking it was quiet but it soon got busy. Testament of how good the food is. Wish I had room for desert. Will definitely be going again.

Been a number of times for a meal here. Always reliable and good food. Service is as expected but never had poor service. Never been disappointed by a menu choice but the grilled fish this time was particularly excellent. Also my fussy children eat here easily

I thought the portions were big but then later realised that I was charged for the bigger portion when I had not ordered for that. The food was disappointing. We had to add a whole lot of condiments to make the food okay. There wasn't enough seafood in the seafood paella. The oysters were not fleshy enough. Would any day prefer the ones at London Borough Market. It was not a good dining experience.

Wow, what a fantastic little find. Great place, fantastic fresh food and beautiful too. I started with Squid (see the photo) and had Larb gai as a main with spicy fried rice. Amazing. Update - 2nd march 2024 Absolutely stunning again. This time an unbooked visit and did not disappoint. Started with Larb moo tod (Larb made into 4 patties and fried) and Pla muek Tod grob (Crisp squid in a black bean sauce and a crunchy salad). Awesome!

Some of the most authentic and tastiest Asian food you are likely to find! Atmosphere was lovely and service was genuinely friendly. It was great to see such a range of local, fresh fish on the menu. I had whole, deep fried red mullet from the specials, which was amazing. The kitchen is on view to the restaurant which adds to the atmosphere - it was immaculate and obviously well organised. This restaurant is a little gem!

Superb little find! Was looking for an independent eatery for an evening meal and this place popped up on Google. Was attracted to the exciting menu and laid back feel. Was not disappointed! Fabulous food and fantastic service. Authentic flavours and ingredients absolutely amazing!

Fantastic, authentic Thai food with delightful service and a great atmosphere

We’ve eaten here several times over a few years and Suphas consistently provides the most authentic Thai/Malaysian/Indonesian food in Plymouth. Literally nothing compares. The very decor of the restaurant is authentic, it’s exactly how you would expect a restaurant in Thailand to be. Not a fancy, high end, overpriced westernised restaurant in the centre of a tourist trap, but a small, family run, street food restaurant in a back street. Just the kind that serves delicious, honestly priced food that you can’t get enough of. Suphas is the absolute epitome of that. The colours are bright, the furniture is mismatched, the food is cooked freshly and turns up when it’s ready, and everything is served with a smile. A lot of the food is spicy. If you don’t like chilli heat then perhaps Thai food isn’t the way to go! Having been to Thailand on several occasions I can honestly say that I’ve not eaten anything at Suphas that is hotter than some dishes I’ve eaten in Thailand - and they were HOT! Ask for some plain sticky rice, extra water and extra napkins to mop those brows if you need to! Or just explain you want it mild and they will accommodate. The staff are incredibly attentive and nothing is too much trouble. We couldn’t quite finish all our food and asked for something to take it home in and were offered a selection of containers for the remaining food. I cannot understand any of the bad reviews that have been left, they just don’t match any of the experiences we’ve ever had here. And tonight we were very aware of returning customers around us who we telling staff what they had last time and asking for the same again, or for recommendations of what else they might like.

Fantastic food great staff the best Thai food in Plymouth .

Food was served hot and quickly. Great recommendation for monkfish from the waitress; the best we have ever had. The waitress was attentive and engaging. Food tasted fantastic and was a great price given the quality and presentation. We will definitely be returning and feel this place would really shine in the summer.

We had an amazing meal here with delicious fresh ingredients. The menu was well laid out and there were loads of options to choose from for different budgets plus some very helpful hints and tips to ensure you chose a good variety of dishes. I had the fresh clams in coconut and turmeric sauce with jasmine rice. It was very very good. I also had the chicken satay which was completely delicious. The staff were attentive and helpful and the interior of the restaurant was colourful and nicely lit. It's clearly a very popular restaurant as there were people queuing for tables so use their online booking form in advance to make sure you get a table. Highly recommended.

2nd visit here, and just as good. Very quick service and excellent choice of dishes. On a very cold day, a hot curry was just the thing!

Stopped in for a coffee but when we walked in the smells were too good not to try the food. Just so tasty. This place is a real find.

Really fantastic food! Gorgeous flavours and loads of great looking options, both veggie and non-veggie. Including information on the menu about sourcing of seafood and meat, which makes a big difference to me. Service was great too. We were walk-ins and got seated right away even though they were busy. The only thing I'd suggest changing was the music - I'd have loved it to have been more associated with SE Asia to really set the atmosphere. I highly recommend eating at Suphia's!

Had an awful experience today and will not be returning. Staff to busy and shouting. I Stayed in Plymouth for two weeks. Very nice city. But never go to this restaurant. The food had a bad smell to it, Waited so long for food too.

A beautifully located eatery with great views and a warm ambience and authentic air to it. Friendly, attentive staff and timely service. The food did not disappoint. I visited here a while ago and only just got around to doing a review, so take my review with a pinch of salt as things may have improved since. I did not have a very good experience at Suphas. We were sat outside during a very hot summer afternoon with the sun beating down on us. Most of the other outside tables under cover were empty but we were told we could not move as they were all reserved (no one showed up to take them while we were there). I ordered something which I thought would be fairly mild but when it arrived it was heavily over-spiced, which coupled with the hot weather was not a good combination! Both of our dishes were like this. The waitress was not very helpful as mentioned above but also seemed to be wanting to be rid of us. Lots of people were arriving looking for a table and were rather abruptly told there was no space. We paid and got a drink elsewhere to cool down in the shade, but unfortunately Suphas left a bad taste in our mouths. Hoping it was just a bad day for them and things are normally better.
