Supersonic Cafe in York

A very nice cafe with good, strong coffee. BUT they have taken French toast off the menu. The end of life as we know it! Please bring it back.

Came across supersonic cafe when on a walk with a couple of friends and thought it’s seemed a good spot for a few coffees etc. was greeted by a young lady, who may I say from the start to the end was simply fantastic. She seemed to be working alone but was handling it very well. We took a seat then went to order our drinks. Me and another friend are quite fussy and had all sorts of requests, which she was more than happy to cater to. She explained the coffee type and where the coffee came from in such incredible detail, which was great for us as we do love coffee. When the drinks arrived they were beautiful. Latte art was impeccable and the taste was even better. Didn’t catch this girls name (brown hair, nose ring) but honestly she is a credit to you! Will be returning, hopefully the young lady will be there again!:)

Passed this place a few times and thought I’d try it, been twice this week. Oat milk flat white coffee and Delicious vegan breakfast (plenty of meat choices too) excellent service and took out a vegan cookie. Will return very soon

Seriously short of staff. After 15 minutes waiting we hadn’t even been shown a menu. We left. Looked like one guy was having to act as chef and waiter.

Still a very repeatable spot for breakfast, decent food served by pleasant staff in airy surroundings. A plea, toasted sourdough bread has very hard crusts, could there be a ciabatta alternative for the bacon bun?

We had a really really good French toast at the Supersonic Café. The eggy bread was crispy and came with caramelised figs and crème fraîche. Excellent!

This looks the part for a fancy business coffee, and also does offerings with the fitness centre (yoga and lunch, or yoga and coffee for example). I just had a takeaway black Americano. It was pretty good, so would pop in again.

This place is super clean and the food was amazing. We only had brunch but I would happily go back again. Service was really good too!

Excellent friendly service, great food they also serve great tasting coffee. Will certainly use again. Would strongly recommend anyone to visit if in York

Lovely little cafe, with a great choice of food and drink but mainly the NICEST staff I’ve ever encountered! Went in to kill some time before a doctors appointment as my son is really poorly. Ordered a tea, milk and pasty and the staff couldn’t have been nicer esp as I was on my own with my 20 month old poorly son and very heavily pregnant with no 2! Hormones going crazy I started to cry and couldn’t really stop, the man behind the bar obviously saw me and silently gave me some water and a napkin. I went to pay and he wouldn’t take my money so obviously I cried again! I just want to thank you for making what was a pretty awful day ending up in the hospital a little bit brighter! Genuinely thank you!

My family and I stumbled across this place by accident last Saturday whilst looking for somewhere for brunch, there isn't a lot of signage but I was attracted to the small sign advertising a bottomless prosecco brunch! Sadly this was not going to be the day for that but the menu looked comprehensive enough to suit us all. Well, it did not disappoint, we ordered a bacon sarnie, USA style pancakes, a veggie breakfast and a Yorkshire breakfast with a side of hash browns. The portions were generous, delicious and cooked to perfection! The veggie pea and spinach sausages were divine and the chef very kindly gave us the recipe! Great service and lovely staff, we will be back!

I am absolutely obsessed with this place. The service is amazing but the food is just something else. I’ve eaten in a lot of restaurants all over the world; safe to say the food made here is the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s cooked fresh and I cannot compliment the chef enough!!! Thank you for always serving us food that’s nutritious and delicious. Don’t ever stop what you’re doing - me and the boys will always be your number one fan 🎉♥️

Can’t stress how good the food is and they know how to make a great coffee too! One minute from the Shambles it is York’s best kept secret. Great for breakfast and lunch and lots of electric points for laptops/mobile phones. Staff always welcoming and the service is great!

I’d not tried the food here, thought it was time to correct that so called in for breakfast , a good decision. My mushrooms on toast were really tasty, not the usual tasteless items, and nicely presented. The lady serving was very pleasant, the whole experience made for a happy visit plus it’s one of the few places that’s open from 8am. Well worth seeking out.

Pleasant enough coffee at a fair price. A modern, clean cafe and environment, on my visit a little short of atmosphere, not many patrons in a fairly large space. It is quite different from most of the cafes in York, should do well.
