Superfry in South Tyneside

We’ve gone to Superfry for quite awhile, but since it’s been taken over the quality has become incredibly poor. Ordered 2 items and they forgot one! Chicken was so dry it verged on inedible and even the chips were undercooked but yet soggy? I will not be returning Waste of calories

Chips cheese patty and sausage in batter all cooked in old oil and looked awful and the chips didn’t taste nice at all. Cheese patty was like a game of hunt the cheese, due to lack of said cheese had no taste. Sausage was ok but not ok enough to tempt us back . Mushy peas ok and curry sauce very runny. Very disappointed as previously had good experiences from here.

Don’t ever bother , it’s not the fist bad meal there , but certainly the worst . Definitely won’t be going again . After decorating for days , so shattered we order our evening meal ..it was just an insult x

Our visiting family from Liverpool were really impressed with Superfry. They said it’s head and shoulders above their local fish and chip shops! Battered sausages, plain sausage, fish, cod bites, gravy and mushy peas were accompanied by mountains of lovely chips (sometimes the chips can fall short at takeaways, not this time). A fussy niece even ate everything! No complaints from any of the family.

Can’t fault Superfry this time. We used their own website and got a small discount. The meal was delivered within the time quoted and was hot and ready to eat. Chips were lovely and plenty of toppings on the pizza. We’d put a note on for salt and vinegar and batter, but unfortunately they mustn’t have read the note.

Everyone can have an off day so Superfry can be excused for the freshly cooked but bland, hard chips and the overcooked fish cake. The fish bites were fine but overall disappointing with the result. Prices are also notably rising which will effect everyone buying takeaways, but £3 for poor chips is a bit steep,

We like to mix up our takeaways, new ones, old ones, favourites and even ones who we’ve not been too impressed with. Superfry has been a 4 out of 5, different dishes, fish, chips, battered sausage, fish cakes, pizzas, kebabs etc. The chips have been good all the way through and tonight’s pepperoni pizza special, chips and chilli dip, were spot on. Delivered hot, early and ready to eat.

Still rate this takeaway. Service good as normal, food plentiful and hot to eat. Kebab for tonight including chicken with kebab meat, chips and garlic and chilli dip. Busy day and night tomorrow so bought the pizza in advance, yes not the normal thing to do but still looking forward to it. £5 money off utilising one of the ‘eats’ offers too!

Couldn’t decide on what to have on the big menu, so decided on a compromise of pepperoni pizza and 4 extra toppings. With chips and a chilli sauce it was delivered quickly, hot and ready to eat. Really tasty and plenty left over for another meal!

Had been a while since last visit so thought we would give it a go, chicken kebab, chips etc was pretty good. The fish and chips in the box was oddly fish underneath and chips over the top. Ate some of the chips then went looking for the fish, it was tiny and overcooked, can't remember the last time I have had fish that poor. Can accept mistakes are made now and again but someone consciously served this up and covered it in chips, knowing it was substandard, and took payment for it. Won't be back.

Absolute disgrace, this shop cancelled the lunch delivery to 2 sets of grandparents on Good Friday with no notice, the shop was open and had a huge queue outside but couldn’t be bothered to fulfil this delivery

A kebab mixed for a change of treat. Only one sauce came with it and would’ve like a garlic freebie but arrived 20 mins early, hot, loads of quality meat and chips with a chilli sauce. Great value.

Ordered food last night and had to phone and ask when it was being delivered. Guy on the phone was rude and sarcastic. Waited 70 minutes for horrible food. Pizza was cold and soggy, cheesy chips were hard and nearly no cheese on them and the battered fish bites for the kids meal were soft, soggy and really greasy. Ordered from here a few times and apart from last night and the time before it was lovely. The whole service was awful yesterday. Will not go back.

First time trying here and I will not be back. Pizza came so warm the cheese was hard, who orders a pizza to have to put it in the microwave to warm up? The chips were hard and warm too, the chilli was not spicy and was so thick. I also deliberately ordered on a Wednesday through the week so the chances of it coming cold would be lower. Not happy at all and a total waste of money. I had chose the option to leave the food at the door and the delivery driver stood there until we opened the door during the covid 19 pandemic. Is it so hard to ask for a takeaway to give you the food you paid a lot for??

For the first time we felt just a little let down with the 2 pizzas we ordered. Yes, both were delivered on time, (left on the doorstep as per contactless rules) hot and ready to serve. The chips were lovely but the pizzas looked a bit thin and lacking in the taste department when compared to the last time we had pizza from here. The three meats pizza was enjoyable but the lack of jalapeños and being charged for garlic too was a bit too much. Our son described his Kiev pizza as ‘ok’ yet he ate the lot in one sitting.

Having visited Superfry during the day for fish and chips, sausage, Irish curry sauce,etc we’ve never been disappointed with the quantity and more important quality of their food. The service in store is always prompt and polite. For a change from a pizza from our normal shop around the corner we decided to try Superfry for a Naanbab. We knew the pizzas from there were always good, delivered quickly and red hot. We rang in the order with chips and garlic and chilli sauce and it arrived before expected. Excellent taste to the meats, plenty for three actually! We were very happy with our change of choice for the evening.

Very tasty fish cakes BUT need some kind of spice or pepper as too bland. My dad loves the fish too, really nice.

Love this place, best fish & chips in sheilds, but we tried the pizza today, lovely & fresh, tasted amazing, stonebaked as well, spoilt for choice now 😉

Our New Yorker pizza was lovely, flavoursome with a light base which doesn’t make it a chore to eat. Our son went for a bbq chicken pizza and ate a full 12inch one but would rather have only had the bbq sauce and not a tomato base. A lesson learnt for him next time as a clean plate and empty box is still a good sign. Delivery on time and polite which is also a good sign.

Best chippy in town, no grease on the chips, fish fried perfect very clean & friendly staff, well worth a try

Hands down, one if the best chippy's I've been to, food is always cooked to ordered, nice and fresh, piping hot, tastes amazing & friendly clean shop, so happy this has opened up near me 😁

been a few times food has been very good will be going back again my grandkids love the kids meal and the cake nice people that work in they very helpful and nice to talk too

Collected my takeaway on time after ringing to order pizza, chips and onion rings. Everything was freezing cold it all had to be reheated. Onion rings and garlic sauce were nice but the pizza was awful, with very little toppings. Won't bother again, shame after all the good reviews.

Total lack of any garlic flavour in the sauce and on the garlic bread none at all ! 2nd time we have been 1st was very good this time food was presented well and hot and on time but the garlic sauce and garlic bread with cheese had no flavour at all !
