Sunwah in Cherwell

We have used this Chinese for a few years but haven't been during Winter 23/24. On getting our takeaway home it was obvious that portions have got much smaller ( sign of the times). My vegetables in black bean sauce had hardly any sauce and it was bland and tasteless. My husband's meal beef and green peppers in black bean sauce was similarly bland tasteless. Such a shame. We won't be using Sun Wah again

Don’t go here. When we rang up to order they could not understand what we were saying. We asked to speak to someone else who took the order. When we got the food it was absolutely awful. They had cleared added a lot more pepper to the rice which made two of us feel really sick and the chips were stone cold. Don’t argue with them unless you want to be poisoned

Take away, have used it for many years, but unfortunately the quality has dropped of lately. Prices have risen and quality dropped not a great mix.

This has been are go to Chinese for over a decade, but recently we have noticed a distinct lack of consistency in flavour and even appearance depending on what day you order. Tonight we ordered the chow mein and it looked anemic and tasted worse then it looked , which I think takes some skill. This is not a cheap takeaway £38 for 4 adults , but after a decade it’s a shame this is fast becoming one to avoid

We previously had many takeaways from Sunwah and thought it great. This weekend we found on collecting our order that we paid about 20% more for our meal than previously. That's because menu prices had gone up about 10% and we had to pay for prawn crackers (before they were free). The combination of price hikes and non-complimentary crackers meant that we paid nearly £24 on an order that previously was around £20. I understand that businesses need to increase prices as costs go up to stay in profit but it was a big jump. Then to add insult to injury the mushroom chop suey had hardly any mushrooms compared to previously. So they're cutting back on quality too. Most customers won't say anything, they'll just vote with their feet. I'd love to go back to Sunwah if they maintained standards and rethought the prawn cracker policy - then it would be worth the menu price increase. As it stands, we felt ripped off! The service itself was excellent as always - polite and efficient.

The crispy beef was chewy.. The chicken in orange sauce had hardly any sauce. The egg fried rice had no egg. It is also over pried

Had a takeaway for the first time form this place and I was not disappointed. Excellent pork and duck, hot, tasty and very fresh. Minor criticism in that the duck could have done with a bit more plum sauce but nit picking really.

The staff here are friendly and efficient and the food is prepared in super quick time. They don't take cards - only cash - but the is a cash machine a couple of doors down.I can recommend the Tom Yum rice - pleasant stir fried rice with a touch of chilli and a more than a hint of lemon grass. The chicken in chilli and garlic is worth a try - breaded chicken goujons, basically - although, to my mind, they could be spicier. That's easy to sort out back home, though.The portion sizes here are generous and the prices about average.

What is going on ?? Ordered food tonight and it was so plain the beef got put in the bin because I couldn’t bite it never mind eat it the chips was a soft floppy dirty brown colour like they had been reheated a few times! The fried rice was awful! Wasted £20

Having moved back into the area we were desperate to find a decent chinese as our previous favourite had new owners and wasn't the same, having researched first we had high hopes for this one based on the reviews, We went in on a Saturday evening it was busy, the staff were friendly and phone was ringing all the time which all added to the feel this must be a good one,food was quick and appeared to have been cooked fresh, however when we got home to eat we were disappointed,The crispy chilli beef was bright in colour, with more veggies than beef and not particularly tasty, the prawn crackers seemed old and stale so we only ate a couple, the other dishes didn't fill us with joy either, such a shame but this wasn't for us so we won't be going back.

Highly recommend, we have never been disappointed with our delicious takeaway that we have ordered. Andy and the team are always friendly and welcoming.

Not often we find a Chinese takeaway with so many vegetarian options, love the quorn alternatives especially the lemon (quorn) chicken.

Been a customer for over 15 years the food is fantastic with great vegetarian options. The service is fast and efficient with Andy and the team in charge. Don’t go anywhere else it doesn’t get better than this!

Had one of their lunch deals, for a £5 its good value, tasty, hot and efficient service. Always give some prawn crackers to make the meal complete 🙂

Been eating from here for what must be 16 years now. Was a very regular customer when I lived in Bicester. The food is always good. Very consistent and always a very quick service no matter how busy they seem to be. Since moving away I still find myself coming back to see Andy and grab a meal as all our local ones just don’t seem to cut the mustard.

We first used this Chinese Takeaway when it first opened. It was a disappointment then; the chicken dishes contained large cubes of chicken and the taste was not to our liking. My daughter lives nearby and told us to give it another try some 5 years ago, which we did. We have been using Sun Wah ever since, for just the 2 of us or large family gatherings at home. The service is very fast; I always telephone the order and by the time I get there - it's always ready. All the food is excellent; we can't find fault. Rice crackers are always complementary with our orders and the thin noodles are especially good. We have tried most of the dishes and cannot find fault. We will continue to use this excellent takeaway and thank Andy and his team for the most yummy Chines food you can buy!

Don't like the things that are battered but the prawns and rib dishes are yum. My partner loves the special fried rice and also shares the little chicken bits with our cat who jumps up to his side whenever she smells it!!

I've been visiting sunwah langford since it opened. Always good and staff are friendly and polite. In my opinion it's the best Chinese takeaway in bicester.

Wide menu, friendly staff, very quick service, great tasting food. Car parking outside - downside they don't do deliveries. Highly recommended.

Sun Wah is a regular take away haunt for us and we keep coming back for the great food and the really extensive choice of dishes. Sun Wah is definitely one of the top Chinese take away places in Bicester.

Had our first Sun Wah Chinese takeaway last night as a Saturday night treat, delicious! Quick service, fresh food that didn't taste greasy and was very tasty!Only down side was they didn't take care but there is a cash machine just next door at tesco.We shall be returning !

Had some lightly cod battered with some Chips very tasty and some curry sauce. The service they are great people.

Well cooked, tasty food. Reasonable price. My order was taken over the phone quickly and advised ready in fifteen minutes, good for a busy Saturday night. Food ready when I arrived and on the plate five minutes later.

This is a very good take away the food is good they are heavy on the Garlic. I love there big fat chunky chips and sauce

Ordered a takeaway and was told to pick up in 40 mins. When I arrived I was told it would be another 40 minutes! The place was full of people who were waiting for late orders. No discount was offered just wait or cancel order so I left hungry. Only tried ordering again as it's local. Don't use if you want to use local businesses who care about your custom.

Best Chinese takaway in Bicester! Excellent food, fabulous service. Located on Langford Village it is walking distance from where we live.

By far the best takeaway in Bicester or even Oxford. But please please please start to deliver. Such great food and such great people. But no delivery

This is my local and in my opinion best Chinese in Bicester. Food is great service is good and quick and always busy and greeted with a smile.

Another takeaway in Bicester - have used on several occasions as its on my way home and is always quick with the food.Staff are good and the meal is always quick to be prepared, a standard takeaway, you can't go wrong with them.

This used to be a great takeaway but the last two meals we have had have been very poor. Tonight meal comprised of crispy duck which was not crispy but very dry and tasteless. The fried rice was burnt!! The beef was well at best ropey and the chips burnt. In fairness though the prawn crackers were ok and they were free. Will never be getting another meal from here.

Old type of chinese food provided. no change for last 10 years. staffs are not properly trainned. Different taste happens all the time. Bad chinese take away.

I've been using the Sun Wah for many years, and had a meal a couple of weeks ago with friends which was so tasty that I was moved to write this. Trip Advisor does not do a terribly good job with takeaways (how can you judge the atmosphere of a place where you turn up to order a take away?). The food is always excellent, ready when they say it will be, and consistent. I particularly like the spicy chilli beef -very moreish, and the hot and sour soup is always both hot and sour.The staff are always cheerful and friendly, and placing phone orders is easy. And it's good to be able to see the kitchen, and to know that the owner is in charge of the cooking.

Another off shoot of the Yin Hong which competes with the Wah Hong in Bicester. The Sun Wah is managed by one of the Fish brothers and there is keen friendly competition between the two siblings to produce the best cooked food. Again as in the Wah Hong one can see the food prepared which has several aspects of Chinese food with friendly service. Hard to beat although Andy will happily tell his is the best of the two.

When I moved to Bicester I tried most of the local take aways and this has to be by far the best I have ever tried, staff always smiling, great customer service even when really busy which this place does get, the prawn crackers are second to none. Never tried it now a the time #1 Chinese food in my honest opinion.

Our youngest is a fussy eater (at times) and he love's Andy's Chicken. The food is great and we never have any issues no matter how busy they are, always ready within the magical 5-10 minutes (:>)

Definitely the best Chinese takeaway in Bicester. fast and friendly, good value. Excellent choice, I have never had anything but good food from SunWah. Fresh tasting and can rarely eat it all because of portion size.

This is defo the best takeaway around, excellent flavoured food for a good price! Cheaper than most TWs but better quality.

I usually call by here once in a while if I want a mini binge or am too tired to cook, always fills me up and leaves me happy

We have been using this Chinese takeaway now for over 13 years and its simply brilliant.Good quick service and great food time and again!We do a round trip of twenty miles to use it!Andy that runs it is always on fine form.Try it, you won't be disappointed!

I don't live locally but my sister lives close so first tried this at her house. The menu has so much to choose from and even though this is a 20 minute journey from my house I have travelled to it as the food is lovely. Why can't other Chinese take always follow suit?

This was our local Chinese take away (just around the corner) for 7 years then we moved to the other side of town but still this was the best one we found in town. So when we moved to Brackley we tried all they had to offer but still find ourselves travelling back to Bicester to the Sunwah because nowhere else taste this good.

This takeaway consistently produces top quality food at a reasonable price. We're so lucky to be so close by.

I go here every month. Staff are brilliant, polite and efficient. Food without fail is delicious and good value for money.

We have lived in Bicester for 16 years and have tried all the take-aways (I think). Sun Wah is certainly the pick of the Chinese establishments.

Sister to the wah hong which is in the market square. Best Chinese takeaway in my option. Both are good but I feel the sun wah is the nicest. Less greasy! A little drive from the town, but well worth it

If you like good Thai food, you will love Sunwah. More at the costly end of options in Bicester the food and service are wonderful.

This is a Chinese take away (based at Nightingale Place) and not a restaurant. We have used Sun Wah many times now. The most recent at the weekend. Service is very good and food is cooked very quick despite how busy they get.We opted for the Very Tasty Char Sui, which is my favourite, but only since using Sun Way, also the Chicken with Ginger and Spring Onion, Egg Fried Rice, Prawn Crackers, Quarter Duck and Chilli, Garlic, Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings. Came to about £23 which I think was good value. Food was very good too. Will definitely be going back. The prawn crackers were free too.Only criticism this time was that there wasn't much egg in the egg fried rice.
