Sunrise Indian Take Away in Wigan

Everything looked tasted the same, bright red, couldn’t see what colour the veg was, doubt if the meat was lamb, more like sliced beef and pretty tough at that. No more for us…

Everything tasted the same from the chicken chat to the madras it’s like it’s all cooked in the same sauce overall very disappointed as sunrise used to be the best Indian in Wigan (used to be)

Best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. The meat is always bang-on! No other Indian take-away in Wigan comes close! Chicken Tikka Shahee is perfection!! I had the same dish a couple of weeks ago in a highly rated restaurant and it wasn’t a patch on Sunrise!

This is the best Indian takeaway ever!! I have eaten all around the world and many times I'm disappointed. But Sunrise never fails to disappoint me and my family. Been coming for years and the food is absolutely delicious. The staff are so lovely and very polite. The onion bajis are AMAZING best bajis ever not too spicy just perfect. Delicious naan bread and flavour some curries. Cannot fault this takeaway at all i like how you can see the chefs cooking too and smells so authentic as soon as you walk in. Set meal for 2 could feed 4, no problem for them that I changed one of the set main meals to one of their specials

Sunrise was our favourite Indian take away for the last couple of years, the food taste great and I couldn't fault the service.... however I've not eaten from this take away since their latest hygiene rating by the council receiving just 1 star, classified as "major improvement necessary". Sunrise you've let yourselves and your customers down.

Today was the first time we had ordered from sunrise. This takeaway had been recommended to us by friends. The food was delicious and you get plenty. Best curry i have ever had. I visited curry houses in manchester, takeaways etc and this was the best. Highly recommend and will certainly be ordering again soon

Food was ok but every bit of meat in it was jet black and rock hard and the lamb kebab ended up going to the dogs because it didn't come like stripped of dinner meat it was chunks of chewy lamb only thing I enjoyed was the salad whole meal got wasted and binned wouldn't bother again not for me

Always love our meals from here. Best Indian by far. I always ask for my madras less hot and they do it for me. Portion sizes are massive we only ever eat half and freeze the rest for a later date. Yum yum!!

Very poor, had a couple of popadoms with onion and chutney. The chutney was the worst I’ve ever had it was like water. The main was Tandoori masala with pilau rice the both items were tasteless. Will never order from here again

We thought we would try sunrise again after feeling like all curries tasted the same and in even were the same colours near enough the summer and thinking maybe they'd changed especially by reading the recent reviews. But sadly there was hardly any difference from the Rogan Josh to the Madras. They are two completely different curries. I found the food quite stodgy too. But we did enjoy our meal non the less. The food did taste good but I feel they don't taste as they should as there is not much difference between them. I appreciate the friendliness of the staff especially for hurrying up our collection time when we called to ask.

Food tastes amazing, best curry I have ever had was from this place. Big portions and often get the odd free item if the wait is long (everyone in Wigan goes here so best to ring ahead if you don't like waiting) Cannot fault, had food from here many times and never had an issue, always consistent taste and very hot when served - Recently started picking vegetarian option over meat based currys to try something new and they are fabulous!! I don't know what they are doing to them potato's but it is a massive thumbs up from me!! There is nothing I would change and I would never go anywhere else. It is a must try!

My partner loves this place, he won’t go anywhere else but I find it really really greasy and I always feel sickly afterwards (although partner never has felt unwell afterwards). There’s so much grease it oozes out of the containers and ends up all over the worktops when it’s being served. The portions are great, 1 curry plenty to feed 2 and it does actually taste nice but it doesn’t agree with me. I suspect it’s the amount of grease. So one massive thumbs up from the partner but a thumbs down from me. I won’t be having it again.

Friendly and generous staff perfectly compliment the freshly prepared meal of your choice that is excellent value for money. It oozes authenticity.I wouldn't be making the eight-mile round trip for this if it wasn't this good! Especially when there's an Indian takeaway about 150 yards from me!!

Nice friendly staff, great tasty curries and good pricing. Used sunrise for my curry fix for a few years now. I love my curries and I have tried everywhere local to me (Wigan) and there is no competition for Sunrise...unless you venture bolton way. Highly recommend the lamb vindaloo 👍🏼

as stated above this as got to be one of the best indians in Wigan food is out of this world and phone ordering is so easy with on average 20 mins wait and when you arrive for your takaway after this length of time the food is always ready

Have regular takeaways from here and find the food very tasty and good portions. Usually throws in extras which is a nice touch.Options for vegetarians and unlike a previous review we have been impressed with these ( no meat in the food)Definitely the Indian takeaway of choice in the local Gidlow area for us.

no delivery so we collected & it was ready exactly on time, all our food was lovely and they gave us 3 free popadums, onion & yoghurt dip & 2 mini smaosas. Very generous portions - we could have fed double the people, I'l definitely use again

the food arrived very quickly and was hot. however, there was absolutely NO paneer in the saag paneer or the chana paneer, just some sort of yellow 'squeezy' cheese?? horrible. jalfriezi was ok but had many better ones from other takeaways in Wigan. chilli naan was too sweet for us. will not be ordering from here again. very disappointed..

Gorgeous food! I had king prawn Saag and the prawns looked nothing like any prawns I've ever seen, so I left them out, but everything else was beautiful! will definitely be ordering again

Usually great but they gave me lamb tikka instead of just lamb.

La primera vez que he estado allí y he de decir que es la mejor degustación de curry que he tenido. El pollo tikka jalfrezzi era caliente y amarga y rebosa dulzura tomate hecha con unos 12 Chili Peppers. La Sra. tenía pollo tikka bhuna y a ella le encantó y la hija tenía el cordero pasanda que realmente disfruté. Era muy rico y cremoso. El pilau arroz era perfecta y el arroz de verduras verduras y completamente lleno de sabores. Los aderezos y chutneys son recién hechas en la tienda (menta y yogur era excepcional). Recibimos un samosa y 4 poppadoms. El servicio fue rápido y las raciones enormes. Realmente, realmente lo disfruté.

Afraid to say we where really disappointed last time we ordered from here. we've always loved sunrise for it's quality . But unfortunately it was just TOO rich , to the point it was inedible , it felt like the sauce was a paste that hadn't been diluted if that makes any sense ? it was like drinking undiluted cordial. we couldn't finish our meal and had to leave the majority of it

food was nice as always......but give us a price to pay then added a £1 charge on when they delivered because we changed a curry flavour....for me that should be added on the total not once delivered.

Everything is red, thick red sauce with every meal....tasteless. Veg passanda with no veg in it apart from a few onions and potatoes. Terrible food, terrible service. Will not order again.

Lovely food, order £30 worth and got complimentary starters, came before they estimated and was piping hot. Sometimes you find with Indian the curry can have a layer of oil on top and is runny but this Indian was thick and didn't have the oil on top:) All the starters were amazing! Definitely my new go too Indian
