Bengal Curry Pot in Wigan

We have been going here since the day it was opened to the public.. The food is always amazing, service is great and love the atmosphere at the Curry Pot.. It’s the most consistent place we’ve ever been over the years, can’t fault it and will continue to eat out here..

First time dining here,and I was not disappointed. The service was warm,friendly and efficient. The food was fresh,hot and very tasty. Highly recommended.

We went the Elton John impersonator night....music way too loud...you couldn't even speak to the person next to you,squashed in like sardines way too many people in such a small area. I have one word for the impersonator... horrendous. The meal was lovely & service very good.

Visitamos anoche para la noche de homenaje a Oasis y fue una gran noche! Por £ 25 obtuvimos una comida de 3 platos y el acto de homenaje! La comida era deliciosa y muy caliente. El homenaje fue uno de los mejores que he visto. ¡Todo el lugar estaba rebotando! El personal trabajó muy duro en lo que era un restaurante muy ocupado. Sin duda volvería a otra noche de homenaje o si simplemente nos apetece un curry!

Bengal Curry Pot is literally the best place to get a curry in Ashton. Food is always brilliant and the staff are extremely polite and welcoming to everyone. I tried a "Black Bhuna" today. I had never heard of it before, apparently it's an authentic curry made in Bangladesh as a treat. It did not disappoint. Can't wait to try it again, thank you for a lovely evening.

Trust me mate one of the worst food I ever had, last night I had biryani and shami kebab and in what I got tasteless mince kebab and plain rice with no salt and flavour Spent 14.95 wastage and crap

Excellent restaurant and takeaway. Customer service is second to none. The manger ( apologies as i cannot remember your name - I'm rubbish with names!) Not only replaced my daughters curry which was just due to a misunderstanding, not an error, bit he also made her a special curry to Tey to offer her what she wanted that wasn't on the menu and replaced the rice and replaced the chips and threw in a nan bread which wasn't even on the original order!!! I've been to the curry pot a good few times amd never had an issue, but to go these lengths over something thatbwasnt their fault just shows you how understanding and customer focused they really are. To add to all thay, the foods bloody fantastic as well and keenly priced with prompt service. Top notch.

Excelente, deliciosa selección de comidas. Muy bien preparado, y especiado perfectamente. Vivimos localmente, y es nuestro ir al restaurante para una cena de celebración. El servicio fue por encima y más allá como siempre, y recomiendo The Curry Pot si aprecias la comida asiática.

Came here on Friday with friends, I asked for the Bengal viper ( which is not on the menu yet ) but it was amazing, nice and hot and very tasty, everybody was very satisfied with the food that we ordered, another great experience at the Curry pot, thoroughly recommend.

Had great food and drink, very good service as well. Never had a bad meal well worth a visit.

Got the set meal for 2 to takeaway and it could’ve fed 3 or 4 people! Good food, incredible value Really friendly staff on collection and ready really quickly too!

First time here. Ordered butter chicken, the chicken was dry & just put into a lukewarm sauce. Obviously not cooked together. Quite expensive too. Service was good, but then there only a few in. Won't be returning

Así que he estado viniendo a la olla de curry y recibiendo comida para llevar durante años y han sido fantásticos, hoy fue una desgracia. Pre-reservado una mesa para 5 adultos y 2 niños pequeños y se quedó esperando 1 y media hora antes de que tuvimos que preguntar lo que estaba pasando con la comida, se le dijo que estaba ocupado, más bien se han ampliado arriba y la cocina pobre no puede hacer frente (El punto de reservar una mesa es para que tenga un tiempo, buen trabajo no teníamos nada más planeado después) , de repente después de preguntar que estaba listo y en la mesa en 10 minutos. La comida era sosa e insípida (obviamente se precipitó a través). Casi podría ser perdonado si el precio coincide con la calidad y el servicio, pero sin duda no lo hizo.

Tengo que decir que al llegar al indio, que nos recomendaron las primeras impresiones agitado, así que fue llevado arriba a una habitación lateral que consta de 10 mesas. Era una habitación muy verde muy fría. Terminé con un fuerte dolor de cabeza porque todo lo que podía ver era verde. Pedí al personal que cambiara la iluminación. Hice caso omiso de mi petición. En ese momento quería dejar a mi marido. Es un electricista detrás de mí. Había una caja con cables colgando, que era para el letrero de luz o la pared. Si alguien tocaba los cables, sería una descarga eléctrica. Hice que el personal se diera cuenta de que no le importaba, entonces la comida llegó. Los langostinos tandori parecían cortados a la mitad y nosotros solo somos negros, horribles y el bati chile massla era insípido. Parecía que usaban pollo congelado, como goma. No lo comimos. Se negaron a tomar. Si la cuenta es una pena, podría ser un buen restaurante, pero el dinero sobre la moral. Me temo que no tienen tarjeta para el cliente y la experiencia. El personal no es amable. No me retiraré nunca aquí y he tratado de contactar al propietario. Dejé mensajes con el personal. No respondí. Así que si yo estaba, ahorre dinero, ya que aquí no es una experiencia agradable.

Sub standard food Having spent a lovely day in Ashton we felt that a nice curry was the order of the day! Wrong Possibly the worst tasteless meal I have ever had Bits of chicken chucked in with tomato and lots of chilli! Very bitter and acidic and not a vindallo in the memory of man. Disappointing

Absolutely shocking the ignorance was unreal was my birthday and they ignored everything when we spoke to them, snatched money off us for drinks then threw change at us also found a solid half of tooth in my child’s chips. Wouldn’t mind usually a regular

First time we’ve tried this place but the takeaway food was disappointing. Ordered a chicken dansak and a chicken rejalla. Although the food looked good it had very little taste and the meat was very dry just cold meat stirred into a sauce. It was an effort to finish it. It was also quite expensive. Probably won’t be coming back.

After being recommended this place by family who have been often we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was very poor it was like a circus. I wanted to leave as soon as we walked in but my family said let’s stay and hope the noise settles down. Spoiler….it didn’t! There were two big tables one with adults and another big table with kids. It looked like a joint party. The noise of the restaurant was shocking. Kids screaming (not even babies) KIDS. We couldn’t talk across the table with each other we had to shout. Eat in silence because shouting to eat other was just too much hard work. Not sure how many times we say can you repeat that. Kids running around our table. It was absolutely shocking. We were glad our food came quick so we could eat and get out. Food was nice despite the atmosphere. But just feel like it ruined our night out because of the noise. I’ve been to many restaurants but nothing compared to that meal and the sourroundings. I obviously hope that it was a one off. It’s just a shame it was our first time visiting and had a crappy night.

Been going to this restaurant for years and has always been the best curry in the borough of Wigan. Tonight my daughter and myself had our usual, Chicken Korma and Chicken Chilliwala. The daughters Korma was not the usual thick coconut sauce but a watery version without the deep coconut flavor. As for mine, it is usually a dark red sauce and thick texture. Tonight it was watered down to an orange colour sauce and lacking flavor apart from the cooked chillies. I compared my dish with the one I took a photo in the summer and the colour difference is very evident.

The Curry Pot used to be THE best in Ashton and maybe Wigan but sadly not anymore. We’ve been mainly takeaway customers since it opened. Occasional restaurant meal with families. Staff always friendly and good service. However the last 3 takeouts way below usual standard. The last one very poor. For a medium heat chicken tikka dopiaza it was totally bland and flavourless and watered down. It consisted of a weak base sauce, a couple of chunks of pepper but mainly a watery sauce and just 5 small pieces of chicken. Dopiaza is known as ‘Double onion’ for its onion rich sauce, it was hardly noticeable. This is ‘shrinkflation’ for sure. Onion bhajis were smaller too but flavour ok… Third time disappointed with a takeaway. Very sad. Prices have increased which I totally agree with but if you wish to retain custom, don’t dilute the curries! I really do hope they take more of these reviews. I’ll make my own from now on!

Absolute amazing..the hospitality from start to finish was spot on..the curry dish were absolutely delicious..You want a fantastic curry look no further..this is the place!!

Always have good food when eating here

We have been going here since it opened. And even had family and friends come out of town off of our recommendations. Since having a child with needs we cannot get out much but we get take aways. Tonight the food was below par by far. The food was obviously rushed. The mint sauce was watered down so much it ran off the poperdoms. My usual chicken tikka rongpur was also watered down and tasted nothing like it usually does. Please stop, don't risk loosing customers over saving stock. This food was not what we know and expect from you

This used to be our usual haunt but we haven't been able to go as much since having a Baby. Ordered our usual. The mint sauce was quite evidently watered down, yoghurt should not run like water. My only every curry chicken tikka rongpur was sooo watered down it tasted completely different. Please don't distroy what was the best Indian restaurant by cutting corners. What you save on stock you will loose In customers

Food excellent, all our party of 4 enjoyed our meal, service was great even though the place was full, with a few Christmas parties going on. Staff were lovely and despite being so busy, were very attentive. Will deffinately be returning.

Called in the hope of a table for 2 - we hadn’t booked. We were shown to a table & offered the menu & drinks list. For starters we shared popadoms & ‘dip board’ & was very nice. We also shared onion bhajis & I requested they be extra crispy (don’t like the ‘paste’ often found in middle) & request was fulfilled. So no problems with starters For our mains hubby had Tikka Masala & I opted for ‘butter chicken’ The sauces on both were very nice & hubby’s tandoori chicken was good if a little dry. Unfortunately my tandoori chicken was very dry. Am glad we only ordered one portion of pilau rice to share as we would have wasted much of it especially as the portion size of our mains was perhaps over generous For drinks hubby had a lager shandy & I had a white wine spritzer. We finished with a white rum liqueur coffee (me) & a cappuccino (hubby). Although they tasted ok they were not made quite as we expected - cappuccino wasn’t very frothy on top & liqueur coffee was not topped with cream but stirred in Overall we enjoyed our meal & staff were very attentive & offered an end of meal ‘shot’ on the house (we decided not to have).

10 of us went after Go Karting this evening. The food was spot on and the staff friendly and accommodating.

First time visit, but will definitely go again. Went for their special Weds/Sun offer 3-course offer and wasn't disappointed. Almost all items on their regular menu were available, and the description for each item made it easier to decide. Each course was very tasty, and portions were more than enough. Poppadoms, starter, main and a side were all very good. I also overheard the waiters advising other customers, which was nice to see. Also good to see was the manager getting stuck in with service...clearing plates, delivering food, etc. Thank you all, it was very enjoyable and definitely recommended.

Amazing food and service 10/10 cannot fault them!! Everything delicious the staff are lovely and so friendly. I mentioned I like a sauce with the popadoms and they came over with a pot for me to take home. So kind!! Defiantly coming again :)

3 of us ate in at the beginning of February. The service was very slow and disorganised. The wait for drinks and in between courses was complete unacceptable. Despite this the food was ok, but very small portions which is not what we have previously experienced when ordering takeaway after it was recommended to us. As our usual Indian takeaway has recently closed, we decided to give it another chance last night. We placed a telephone order for collection. They advised the waiting time was an hour. Ok, we accepted that, our choice. However, after arriving to collect an hour later as advised, we had to wait another 40 mins. We asked on 2 occasions about the food and delay. Each time we were told it would be a couple of minutes. Make your own mind up😊 We then

Just had a collection order from here. Madras and balti taste identical. Neither had any heat to them and both were swimming in oil. No flavour in anything. Real shame because this place came recommended, but honestly it went in the bin and we've just ordered from somewhere else. If you like Indian food, go somewhere else, because this isn't it. we basically got what looked like a poonami in a foil carton.

Starters came out just warm. Made it up with a new starter which was hot. Pint of cobra was flat. Main course - korma, tasted of pure coconut and no korma flavour. Cheesy, garic naan. Extremely bland. Rogan josh - suppose to be medium. Blew my head off after being told it was only medium. Never had a problem at any other Indian. Disappointed, heard great things but wont be returning.

Staff very frienly and attentive. Good food and place clean. They have special offers on during the week and on a Sunday. Had a very tasty chicken tikka Chilliwallia with rice. Very good selsction of dishes. Able to park nearby but you have to look for these places to park.

Fantastic find on a recent visit after Haydock races, restaurant was full but service was impeccable and the waiters are efficient and speedy. Delicious food, and really great value for money. We had the set menu for 2 and swapped a couple of bits out which was no trouble at all. Great restaurant

Went for the first time last night after racing at Haydock. Recommended by locals in nearby pub. I would travel here again just for the food and the friendly service. Food was excellent, good prices and staff were amazing. They tried to order a cab for us which didn’t arrive after many recalls. We were stranded and one of the staff drove us home to our hotel. Unbelievable. Credit to Ashton and that community. Please visit and support this local business. They deserve it.

Me and my hubby came here last night for the first time. Starters we had a mixed started and some lamb tandoori chops. Some of the best chips iv had. We had a tandoori chickengarlica highley recommend . We will definitely be back. Thanks for the great food and service mossala and team

Fantastic Indian in Ashton. Came with my husband and daughter (her choice) never been before but was pleasantly surprised. We got the 3 courses for £11.95 & £7.95 for kids (Sunday) it was beautiful. Firstly we had popadums with chutneys. Then We had chicken chaat, mixed starter & chicken tikka starter. Then for mains we had korma, chicken tikka and a garlic Waller which was hot all food was fresh and so tasty!! Staff were friendly and attentive. Will 100% be returning

We've tried pretty much every single Indian we know of within our area over the last few years and can honestly say this one blows them all out of the water. We actually put off trying here at first, as we thought that it was just a dine-in restaurant, but when we realised you could call and pick up for takeaway we jumped right on it, and never looked back since! We now go to this place every couple of weeks, excellent service and food. Food is always fresh with really succulent meats and fresh veg and natural sauces. Always red hot when picking up too, fresh off the grills and kept nicely. We always find we end up with extra free stuff too, whether its free starters or free beers. Not sure this is part of how much we spend or just a nice 'thank you' for our loyal custom, but who cares if it's free right? Price wise it's pretty great too, for the portions we get. We normally spend around £16-£20, and have 3 meals from the food we order, and we're always full to the brim after it and never finish it all! Highly recommend!

Descent Indian food in a restaurant where pictures of Venice’s Rialto bridge is part of the decor, or much ambiance to speak of. The food is ok but lacked some spice and complexity to it. Service was very good, albeit some language difficulties along the way.

Had a really nice meal here with friends. Food good overall. Beer selection not great, but that's usually the case with curry restaurants. Little bit noisy with loud music. I'd expect this on a weekend, but not mid week.

Had a great night performing as Meat Loaf and the clientelle and customers were brilliant
