Had to wait 40 mins for order to arrive, although we asked staff twice to check our food order as other people came in after us, placed their order, ate their food and left and we were just waiting. No one bothered to check or come back to us. When food arrived it was dried up as though it had been standing under a hot light for ages. And to cap it all my wife’s meal had fresh onion in the coleslaw although we told staff when placing the order she had an onion allergy. Just awful. They advertise as a restaurant but it’s just a canteen really.

Went for Sunday lunch as a family. Great food lots of meat and vegetables all served with lovely gravy roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. I would recommend this if you fancy a day off cooking. Three of us had the Pork and I had the Beef. There was that much beef I snuck a slice out for my dog! Puddings were lovely too. Crumble and custard and strawberry flan and ice cream. Very reasonably priced and great service yet again. After lunch we wandered through the garden centre and came back with a boot load of plants! Sunnyside have everything going for them and this shows in the great service and food. Well done yet again.

The café restaurant was busy and understandably we had a 15 -20 minute wait for our paninis. The bacon, brie and cranberry came with no bacon , a couple of small strips of brie and a smear of cranberry. This was replaced promptly when we complained but the filling quantity and quality was still below reasonable expectations for the £8.95 price . Although the other panini did contain some tuna and cheese, the amount of filling was inadequate given the £8.95 price. Neither panini was very enjoyable. We shall neither be returning in the future nor recommending this as a place to eat an enjoyable lunch.

Have visited a few times and had the all day breakfast witch is excellent but a friend recommended we try the Sunday lunch. Myself and two family members all had the Roast beef that was lovely and tender and plentiful witch is a bug bear of mine as some carvery's give you very little when it comes to the meat not here . With roast potatoes mash cabbage carrots green beans Cauliflower gravy and a rather large Yorkshire pudding. All three of us where very impressed with the Roast all good quality ingredients well cooked . Service was also very good friendly staff and quick to serve. Definitely will be going back . 😋

Called in for lunch, toasted cheese and onion, poached eggs on toast and a teacake, all of which were fine, drinks also fine, but a member of staff who puts brown lettuce that is wilted to almost black and was absolutely disgusting on a plate to paying customers obviously has no pride in the food that is served and makes me question why?, I am not in a hurry to return, no faith in the produce and level of care, no excuses, if it is not fit for eating leave it off the plate..

Had an omelette (which I normally do here) but was disappointed in it today. My nephew remarked what a strange colour it looked on the outside. I'd chosen a cheese and onion filling. Really disappointed in the fact it had been cooked with red onion. Not only did it have a rather unattractive hue but also tasted strangely sweet . Red onion not a good choice to put in an omelette. I would have said I wasn't happy with it has a member of staff actually come and asked if we were happy with the food. This didn't happen today so I'm afraid 2 fails on this occasion

I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while. Having stopped visiting because I found the prices too high for the environment and food/drink offer. The coffee (vanilla latte) they call large is most places small. It takes 2 gulps to drink. It has very little ambience and although the food is nice I can’t justify paying the coffee prices.

Latterly we have taken my elderly mother in law as a treat on a Sunday and have made use of the free wheelchairs. We visited this Sunday for Mothers day and were left very disappointed with our meals and the lack of service we received. We had a booking at 1 but had to que to order our meals this took 20 minutes which made the experience start off stressful as we have a 3 year old to look after as well so it wasn't ideal. After the starters it took an hour for the main meals to arrive...we asked the waitresses twice to see what was happening but they didn't seem to know why the food hadn't arrived yet. It also took an hour for the starter plates to be cleared away. Whilst we sat waiting for our meals to arrive we watched a waitress pick up vegetables that had fallen out of a bowl and throw them back in which is very unhygienic and then the same waitress dropped butter on the floor and proceeded to pick it up and put it on top of the bread again this is not hygienic. Once the meals had arrived we were very disappointed with the quality as you didn't get a lot and it didn't look or taste like it had been cooked on site. When you are paying a lot for a Sunday roast for Mother's day you expect better quality which we just didn't receive. We spoke to the manager about the service and quality of meals but he didn't seem too interested with our worries. Unfortunately we shall not be coming back.

We tend to go out in a group of about 20 during February to break the winter up. This year we picked this restaurant. Its OK as a cafe but not up to the title of "Restaurant". I picked fish chips and peas from the menu and when it came it looked good. Eating it I would score it as OK. The batter was a bit thick but again OK. My wife had roast Pork with vegetables. She was quite happy with it. I had syrup sponge afterwards and thought it was good, nice and light with enough syrup and custard. My wife had sticky toffee date pudding with ice cream and again this was good. As it is really a cafe, it is OK for a meal if that is what you want but not a place to take someone out to as there is absolutely no "Ambiance". There is plenty of parking and the plus side is the garden centre.

We had visited the Sunnyside restarant for a snack lunch and noticed the advert for breakfast, £3.99 for 6 items, tea or coffee and toast and butter, We visited today and devoured the said breakfast in short order, it was great and though it was busy the wait time was minimal for service.

Try the hot puddings. They are very nice! I really like the lemon and orange pudding as well as the spotted dick with custard.

We love going to the Sunnyside Garden Cafe, its a wonderful independent garden centre and a very pleasurable experience anytime of the day. The cafe has a good solid menu, the decor is well above average now it has been extended and refurbished, the staff as you would expect from a family run establishment are very friendly and always make time for you.Food wise it is as you would expect from a cafe, the hot menu is varied and reasonably priced, the cakes, desserts, pastries are plentiful and well made. There's nothing I like more than going for a ham, egg, and chips for lunch or a jacket potato you really can't ask for anything more. The whole experience is made better knowing you are helping to support a local family business. Please visit!

Got to Sunnyside about 12:30 and was met by a large queue of hungry customers coming for their regular outing to the Sunnyside cafe. But don't let the queue fool you, there's plenty of seating and no matter how busy there never is a huge wait on food. We ordered a quiche lorraine which was lovely full of big chunks of ham, beans on toast which was warm (and what I needed!) and a jacket with tuna and cheese (huge portion?!). It quietens very quickly at Sunnyside so by 1pm there's no queue really for ordering. For after sweets we had a chocolate and honey comb slice, a maple and pecan slice and a treacle sponge with custard. The only thing I would say is their selection of cake choices has decreased since the cafe was changed but nonetheless there is choice. I have been going for years and although not necessarily local to us, it is still worth the travel.

As you would expect. After having a wander around the garden centre popped in for a sandwich. Average but nothing less than I expected. Perfect for the older peeps in the area who fancy a breakfast or light lunch or anyone who needs a quick re fuel

We often visit the garden centre as they are local and have some good quality plants and garden equipment. Met my mum for coffee and cake and we sat in the bright conservatory area. Friendly staff and nice selection of fresh cakes and drinks without costing the earth. Worth a visit

Our first visit to Sunnyside today. Cafe was very busy but clean and welcoming. Food looked very nice but we didn't want to eat, just stopped for a drink. How disappointed was I that I couldn't have a simple cup of tea! Amazed that in this day and age a place that recognises food intolerance and allergies (it offers several gluten free cakes) doesn't do soya milk. Water for me. Yum. Also the door to the outside was closed so we had to carry a tray of coffee and water back through the cafe, through the garden centre and round the outside. Will definitely be back to the garden centre but no point in stopping for a drink.

Sunnyside never fails to provide an excellent 'pitstop' for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. The food is homemade and there is a good range of cakes, scones, cooked meals and hot puddings. Salads offer a wider range of elements than the usual lettuce and tomatoes seen in other establishments. We have always had excellent service from the attentive staff who clear the tables quickly and check that we don't need anything else. The cafe area is quite roomy with high ceilings and there is space between the tables to get in and out easily. There is an outside area to sit in for the better weather. Always a pleasure to eat here.

Excellent cafe located in a good sized garden center. Not as big as the Woodlands garden center but big enough. Nice food and good serviced. Visited more than once with family.

Living locally, we know how popular this cafe is - especially for Sunday lunch. Apparently the food is wonderful. Well, I can't vouch for the food, except the cake, which was fairly good, but I can vouch for the tea and coffee. My wife had a pot of tea, and I had a filter coffee. I have to say, I cannot remember ever having a worse cup of coffee - even in the old days when it was a spoonful of instant and hot milk in most cafes. It just tasted extremely cheap. On mentioning this to my Wife, she said she thought it was her taste buds - and I had a sip of the tea. All I can equate it to is the cheapest teabags I have ever bought - hardly tasting of tea at all, and a washed up colour too. So, enjoy the food, but avoid the tea & filter coffee.

Great food and very attentive service in this small-town pub. You took great care of us when we visited. Very convenient to Breedon Hall across the street.

Absolutely amazing food, and lovely staff. We came a couple of weeks ago and decided to come again with family we enjoyed it so much. What we didn't appreciate, was them adding a cover of 8 people, which adds a service charge, (we had a party of 4, at a table for 6). Had they not been sneaky and tried to add it WITHOUT telling us, we were more than happy to tip for fantastic service and food. We questioned and it got removed

The Priest House has so much potential. Its location is lovely, situated by a river and the buildings are lovely. However, this is a very tired hotel, both inside and out. The exterior paint is peeling, the outdoor communal areas around The Cottage where we stayed were so dirty and unkempt and the exterior of this building was grubby too. The room was at least clean and plenty roomy, but the radiator was on full blast and it was a 23° sunny day. It couldn’t be turned down or off. The service in the restaurant was very slow and the food overpriced for the tiny portions. The constant drone all night of the aircraft flying into East Midlands airport was very noisy. It’s all a bit of a shame, as this place has bags of potential. Sadly, we wouldn’t come back again.
