Sunflower Cafe in South Cambridgeshire

I have visited Scottsdale’s quite a few times. It never disappoints. Today we had Cappuccino and sticky toffee cheesecake and Biscoff cake. Delicious and staff very friendly and helpful. The added bonus is the garden centre with a great range of plants and all our gardening needs.

garden center outside has small areas of plants and not a lot of choice plants very expensive, inside a mish mash of franchised departments, and over priced groceries,cafe very clean and food ok but dogs should not be allowed into dinning areas

This cafe is located within the Garden Centre. It is really quite big, occupying a sizeable area indoors and some outdoor seating. It is all clean and comfortable-enough. They offer a good menu. But we were only there for drinks, and they were grand. The meals we saw being served were very generous. Clearly very popular with locals. Reservations are possible

The staff were exceptional and the food great. My wife and I were staying locally and ate lunch on one day, and breakfast the next. Both were excellent. The garden centre also had some bargains in the sale that we took advantage of!

We came here because our friend is gluten and dairy in tolerant and is one place she is ok with. On to the food i choose the turkey christmas dinner which was very good, tasty and hot. my friends had the jacket potato, which again they said were very good. Overall very good, wiil be back

Visited again with my wife,such a great selection on food especially for my vegetarian wife. Ordered food and drinks,service was excellent and speedy,sat in the garden in the sunshine,when food arrived it was piping hot.no complaints, N o thing was to much trouble for the staff!well worth a visit,not to pricey either….

I had a poor experience at another branch but this made up for it 100%. Good food and lovely staff. All freshly cooked and though busy the food came out quickly

Have eaten here a few times since Scotsdale took over especially breakfast. To start with the breakfast was splendid and well worth the visit. Unfortunately over time it has gone downhill. Lot of breakfast items clearly cooked well in advance. I even took my bacon back last time as it had been cooked well before as was dry and hard! The response I got on handing it back totally uneaten telling them it was inedible was....”ok”. A great shame as was an ideal place, there is an outside area and even an area if you want to take your dog.

Excellent relaxing ambience. Shortish wait after ordering but we were there at peak lunchtime and queue quite long for food orders. We had jacket potatoes, well cooked, good fillings and great accompanying salads. Generous milk xsupplied with teas too. Although resturant very busy, no stress to move quickly after eating. Wil go again very soon. We

Bearing in mind how busy they were the food was not too bad, a bit production line but well cooked. The restaurant was better organised than the garden centre who boasted greenhouses on display of which there was ONE!! Our reason for the visit was to buy one. We then went to the Shelford branch and that was worse - nobody seemed to know where anything was - will not be buying a greenhouse through Scotsdales !!

So 9am is usually not a great time to go for breakfast as places are just opening. However, this cafe is the exception - staff were happy, friendly, jokey and prepared to engage. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was delivered to the table quickly and was well cooked. Tables and cafe were clean and well looked after and as usually staff were not put off by allergy requirements.Just one little gripe - if you're going to have discoverable wifi then either provide the password or hide it!!!

I’ve been here twice before because my mother likes to visit the garden centre. But my last visit yesterday was not a good experience. House flies seemed to be everywhere, there must have been about 8 flies over the coffee machines and on a board above it and landing on the scones that were kept in 2 clear dome shaped display cases that had the lids open! He served just stood there whilst the flies walked all over the scones and cakes. It was quite disgusting actually. The server did not look the cleanest person in the world either, he had dirty fingernails and greasy hair. I am rather surprised that management are allowing this. Even at the till a fly was almost landing on the shoulder of the cashier. Because of this we only ordered drinks and when we sat down there was a dead fly under the table. We will not be visiting again. It makes me wonder what’s going on in the kitchen to have such an abundance of house flies. I’ve never seen so many in an eating establishment ever. I’ll be calling the environmental health tomorrow.

Sandwiches come with salad, so, despite being expensive, you feel you have a meal in front of you. Cheesecake doesn't necessarily have cheese in it - the slice I had was almost entirely double cream, and on sponge, so not really a cheesecake at all. Cider ridiculously expensive (which is the same in all similar establishments!). Hot drinks are great - I reckon that's what they do best!

Nice roast beef, watery gravy, hard yorkie and roasties, but plus point, they weren’t Aunt Bessie‘s! Mix of ?frozen veg, peas, carrots, cauliflower (no cheese) and a minute piece of broccoli. £12.95, would prefer to pay more for better produced food. Garden Centre going through a refurb so not much to look at either.

Sandwiches at £5.95 are overpriced. Coffee is awful. Soup was very tasty. The large flaky sausage rolls, £3, are very nice except they become soft and greasy when microwaved. Certainly room for improvement

Twenty six visually impaired clients from a local charity enjoyed a fabulous cream tea at the Sunflower Cafe. The staff couldn't do enough for us and understood the requirements of a group of visually impaired people perfectly. The tea was superb - large freshly made scones with plenty of jam and cream - thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone.

Previously afternoon tea at Scotsdales Horningsea has been a pleasure. I went there this afternoon, 17 June 2019 and the afternoon tea, which was on offer with the coupon as last year, was really almost inedible. No sandwich or cake. Just one HUGE scone which was hard on the outside and crumbly inside. The thing, which I will NOT dignify with the name scone again, was heavy, dry and almost impossible to eat what about enjoy. It was tasteless and fell apart when cut or broken so one was left trying to butter large crumbs. Come on Scotsdales get back to your previous high standards as mentioned by customers last year and experienced by me many times in the past.

We had coffee here one morning. Service was quick and friendly and the coffee was good. The only odd thing is that the outside seating area is next to the main road, rather than overlooking the plant area (as it is in Fordham).

Choice of garden & indoor plants is always very good. We were able to buy what we were looking for + more.

We have eaten here and Scotdales in Shelford many times and always enjoyed a hot well cooked meal. This mothers day was a shock, the prices had been hiked up, the beef was very tough, Someone was sitting at our table and we had to be moved near the door, very draughty and cold for two over 80s! Will not be visiting again.

Sometimes visit if here if we are stuck for things to do. Food is nice but slightly overpriced for what you get.

Went to amelie flammekueche in the grafton center cambridge for a light lunch aboslotley fantastic first thing we se was the lovely designer yellow bus and theme was great a lovely morden new look must go there anyway we was greeted and very polite it was we did not know what to order being our first time we ordered olives green salad parma ham flammekueche two apple juices it was all very tasty nice atmosphere food taste great only £19.20 very impressed will definitely will go back 5 stars well done to the owner and staff

Bueno, el almuerzo del sábado fue interesante. Larga cola causada por una nueva máquina de café (tipo Costa / Starbucks) que ralentizó totalmente al personal. Había un cartel que se disculpaba, pero solo una vez que llegaba al punto donde se servían las bebidas. El personal es muy joven y parecía inexperto. Sin embargo, uno de los alimentos fue "olvidado": el pedido no llegó a la cocina de alguna manera (aunque el otro artículo apareció a tiempo). Sin embargo, el personal lo solucionó muy rápido.

Had breakfast with two friends - staff friendly and approachable. Menu varied and has something for every one - even fried bread!!!!

Really nice place to go for a cake and a cuppa. Much bigger than I thought inside and the cake was delicious! Lovely atmosphere!

here you can have a full meal , snacks, or just a coffee. the main meals are excellent value for money, some meals can be had as small portion, if you cant manage a large meal. childrens meals are also available . the surroundings are pleasant and the new soft area is very relaxing. wheel chair access is available. the meals are great, the roasts especially. the staff are very helpful and friendly. I eat here quite a lot. never been disappointed.

Wonderful selection of cakes, pastries, scones and tray bakes. Good selection of hot and cold beverages. Light, airy seating area inside and out.

Visited here on bank holiday Monday, it was very busy but there was still plenty of seats. The service to order food did appear to be a bit slow, but the staff were very friendly. The food when it arrived was very good if slightly steep. I had the full English breakfast for £4.99. This comprised- one piece of bacon, one sausage, one fried egg, one piece of fried bread and half a tomato. The quality was very good. The cakes also looked lovely, my parents had fruit scones and said these were delicious.

We often have a meal when visiting the garden centre, but this time we just had drinks and cakes. The cakes were very good and fresh.

This is a very peaceful cafe - the food is fresh and very tasty. Excellent sandwiches, cakes and cream tea.

I'm often going to this café either with my wife or friends. we find the staff most friendly and helpful. the café is spotless and the food is realy good , great value for money, especialy sunday lunch. the seating area has been expanded, and its very clean and comfortable .its chidren friendly so the whole family can visit. they do childrens portions ,so if you cant manage a full portion just ask for a small one and depending on what you want. a smaller portion is nearly always available. the staff are most helpful over your requests. always get a welcome at this café. going again this Friday with friends.

Really well laid out this year. Great improvement in the restaurant area, twice as large. Staff are and always have been polite and extremely helpful throughout the entire store. Well stocked this year in all departments. Food is generally of a good standard, well presented and reasonably priced. Some great deals throughout the year, examples being £3 breakfasts, free tea following stamp collections and free drinks with voucher.

Just had an office Christmas lunch here. The food (as always ) was way above what would be expected from the normal garden centre cafe. The waiting staff were all really friendly creating such a lovely dining experience. Great value for money.

Went for a quick cuppa with a friend after some exhausting plant buying. In the hopes of a savoury treat I chose the enormous cheese scone and took an extra napkin with which to take home the excess! So solid you could have stopped a door with it, and dry too, several pats of butter were needed. I met another customer buying extra coffee with which to wash hers down. Wrapped up neatly and stowed in my bag It was good toasted the next day as a base for baked beans which softened it up a bit.

This is a nice little village cafe offering quite a few menu items. The sandwiches are nice, the jacket potatoes are always a favourite. We come here quite often and for the price it's a great lunch spot in the villages.

Stopped off for breakfast with a friend,I had a sausage and egg baguette and a pot of earl grey tea,my friend had a mocha and poached egg on toast.we sat outside as the sun was out and ate our breakfast.we really enjoyed our breakfast and thought it was good value for money.venue was clean and tidy and so were the toilets.staff very friendly and kept the cafe well maintained.

Decidí que necesitábamos una delicia después de una visita al dentista, y pedimos un desayuno inglés completo con una patata y huevos revueltos y salmón ahumado en tostadas de color marrón. También pregunté por el huevo suavemente los huevos revueltos.

Hemos disfrutado de té/café y bollos a mediados de mañana/regularmente a media tarde (y algunas de sus opciones de comida) y utilizada para visitar semanalmente. Los bollos son lo suficientemente grandes como para compartir y cortados en 2 porciones, (están hechos en las premisas, pero dependiendo de quién les ha hecho, cómo cheesie son?? Así que a veces y otras veces simplemente fabuloso bien.) El personal es muy amable y siempre limpiar las mesas. A veces tienen cafe ofrece, por medio de un programa de viajero frecuente. en el periódico. Tienen una tarjeta de bonificación para un café gratis cuando haya recogido 8 sellos. Pero recientemente me han incrementado los precios del café y el té, así que voy mucho menos a menudo. es un salto enorme.

Siempre hay un montón de opciones. La comida. Muy sabroso y las porciones son grandes. Podemos sólo caben en una comida o una porción de tarta preciosa, nunca ambos. A un precio razonable. Personal, aunque principalmente jóvenes, son amables y serviciales. Muchos asientos, por dentro y por fuera. Centro de jardín es muy agradable también. En Navidad tienen un montón de magníficos perros terranova tirando de su trineo santa!!

Artículos preciosos para elegir, el departamento está buscando buena y jardín de olores encantadores. Cuando estamos en Cambridge visitando vamos para comer por lo menos dos veces. El personal es amable, la comida está bien, es el ambiente. Muy luminoso. Te veo pronto.

En cualquier momento del día se puede conseguir algo bueno para comer. La última visita fue scones y crema y mermelada, todo estaba delicioso. Solíamos ir a desayunar bastante en los días que era cuando tenían buena Ansells ofrece, pero no hacen mucho más que. Zona de juegos para niños es muy servicial, aunque un poco de imaginación y poco desarrollados. We have visited the sunflower café on a number of occasions and have always enjoyed ourselves. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is always fresh locally sourced and cooked to perfection. Top marks.

Que posiblemente el peor restaurante que he tenido en el REINO UNIDO. Llegamos al final de la comida y tenía hamburguesa, patatas fritas y ensalada de col. La hamburguesa era claramente de buena calidad pero fue arruinada por recocido. Era tan recargado tuve que vimos a través de ella y se había reducido hasta que era diminuta bajo la pelea. Mi esposa estaba en las mismas condiciones. Me ha sorprendido que tenía inicialmente, después de que pagamos, la comida llegó a la mesa al mismo tiempo que hicimos, pero fue rápidamente evidente que la razón para el servicio speedy fue porque las hamburguesas había sido sentado en la parrilla durante algún tiempo. As someone gluten free it is hard to find food to eat you actually want but this little cafe/Resturant does its best to help you with your main meals as well as providing delicious gluten free cakes and desserts such as the lemon meringues with cream I inserted below!

Después de haber visitado a menudo me pareció que era hora puse una reseña sobre como este café es simplemente maravilloso. Aunque está en un jardín no es lo que esperas, es sin duda más de un lugar en el que volvería a entrar a tomar un café y un bocadillo cutre cuando brevemente después de ir de compras. Es comida de primera clase que encontrarías en un gran establecimiento. La calidad de la comida es excepcional. He tenido unos cuantos comidas aquí a lo largo de los años y nunca he sido incluso un poco decepcionados. No sé cómo me las apañé para servir la comida tan rápidamente, pero una vez ordenados realmente no tarda incluso cuando están a plena capacidad, lo que parece ser casi cada domingo.

Another excellent evening meal at this lovely little village pub. Friendly and efficient service, made very welcome, lots of food and piping hot. Look forward to our next visit. A big thank you to all the staff.

Hay un pequeño restaurante con una alegre sección de invernadero. Buena comida y un delicioso surtido de hermosos galletas recién horneadas en casa. Very airy restaurant, and generally well organised. Always plenty of people, which is a good sign. Their curries, Irish stew, and pies are excellent. Much more than a garden centre. We used to visit Van Hague's, but this is a preferred choice.

Nosotros estuvimos con amigos para el fin que había tratado a cenar en sus locales la noche anterior. En vez de ponerlos a la molestia de preparar el almuerzo para nosotros antes de que nos fuimos a casa nos sugirió que nos llevamos aquí para comer. Decidí que en vez de tener una tarta individual de cerdo en 1,80 libras, mejora de las "plowmans de pata de cerdo" de £7.95 .

Rude, unprofessional and small minded restaurant staff .My family and i have always enjoyed a treat in the restanrant. Over the years we have been loyal customers and spent i am sure quite a lot of money so is nice to get a little something back in the way of a reward card, but I did'nt realise one staff member would make such a fuss over me using it . you would think the money was coming out of her own pocket !
