Sun Inn in Bromsgrove

Visited for a roast with some friends for our Christmas get together and can’t believe the quality of food which was served us! How could you possibly justify serving food at this standard? How did your kitchen staff and FOH staff fail to notice that the quality of the food on the plate was completely unacceptable?! Our bill was discounted but not complimentary or refunded which was extremely disappointing and unfair.

Service was excellent! Staff were so friendly and helpful, food was amazing! Kids had a great time playing in the garden. Will definitely be coming again soon.

7 of us altogether and ordered separately in three groups but all food arrived together which was good. Food portions were generous and the staff polite and helpful. Prices were fantastic as we all had 30% off mains. Atmosphere was relaxing, we weren't rushed. Had some dessert and lots of drinks. Can't wait to go back, we had a good time.

The food was cold so much that a corn on the cob didn't melt a pact of butter the room was cold not many in there and no music not good atmosphere staff plesent but sad to see

Went for a drink Christmas Day. Big mistake drinks were terrible. So we left them and went up the road to The Swallows Nest. Cannot believe how this has gone down hill so fast since Ian & Nicola left. Such a shame please sort it out.

A group of 7 of us visited The Sun, Romsley today for our festive lunch, unfortunately the meal was terrible, the Turkey was dried up, the roast potatoes were so well done that if you tried to cut into them you couldn't, I think the sprouts were frozen one's as we couldn't cut them, not sure why as there are lovely fresh ones about, the carrots were tough, and not a lot of flavour to the whole of the main course, we did complain to the manager and we did get a discount, but when you are going out for a special meal with friends, especially at this time of year, it would have been better if the food was edible. I am just wondering about people who will be going for their Christmas Day lunch, I hope it is better than what we got, and it doesn't spoil your Christmas.

Just had the most beautiful morning having a breakfast with Santa at the sun ! Great breakfast , great staff and lots to do with the kids ! Our waitress Ria was amazing ! Father Christmas and mother Christmas were absolutely wonderful with the children !!! Highly recommend

Meal booked for 2-45pm on Sunday for Christmas family Meal. After waiting for our Meal for along while we enquired when was the Meal which had been ordered online going to begin. After alot of conversation with "the Lady in charge" our Starters arrived at4-15pm some 90mins. late, the Plated Christmas Meal arrived and it wasn't hot ,the gravy was all over the plate congealed although the Meal was edible the whole opinion was poor .The Christmas pudding was good but Custard was a dribble at the bottom of dish so again to the eye not good so really disappointed with the whole Meal. It is my belief that they simply couldn't cope with the amount of covers they had Sold and it all went wrong.

Disappointing visit this time. My partner was served the wrong dessert, my chicken and bacon salad had no bacon and minimal sauce so was very dry. Coke was flat. Also, there was one waitress, unfortunately didn’t get her name, but she should not work in hospitality. She was miserable, not engaging and practically threw the plates on the table.

Fantastic experience largely down to bar maid maddie (thought it was megs but definitely maddie). Service with a smile, lovely banter and she made us feel very at home. Thanks to maddie we'll definitely be back x

Couldn't fault the whole experience. Staff were friendly and attentive, good was hot and cooked perfectly. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed a lovely evening meal, topped with a great quiz which was loads of fun. The staff were quick and efficient, the atmosphere was great, and the quizmaster first rate with all the proceeds going to charity.

Nice pub with nice decor shown to a table for four which I had booked stud by the bar waiting to order drinks it was ten minutes before we got served the table had been wiped clean but a little sticky young lady took the order again there was a long delay before we received it standard of food not the best but they I think short staffed normally I would not go back but will give them benefit of the doubt and go again but they need to improve

We visit the Sun twice a week and we have never been disappointed. The is a great selection on the menu and represents good value. The pub is managed by Diana who always takes the time to make sure that everything is right. The whole team work really hard and special thanks should go to Rea,Eve and Oliver. We recommend this pub for any type of social event....

Very impressed with our first visit in many years. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our table. The table service was excellent, the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly. The dining area was very clean and tidy, and looked like it had been refurbished recently.

We went and had lunch in the garden which was lovely the garden had lovely flowers and was decorated nice. Easy access for the wheelchair and the other customers were really friendly. There was a band in the afternoon and I stayed for the evening and there was an amazing Dolly Parton tribute act. The toilets were clean and fully stocked I had the best time there will definitely be returning.

I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone ! I have come out here feeling physically sick . I went for food with my kids .I ordered a vegetarian dinner and requested more gravy as the food was dry . To be given gravy with meat in there. I then requested for it to be changed and when they brought it back out the Yorkshire pudding was frozen in the middle so I brought it to the bar man attention . If that’s not bad enough , when he returned it I heard the woman shout … what the problem now .(shocking ) What kind of person faults a person for not eating meat gravy when there vegetarian and a frozen Yorkshire pudding . Absolutely disgusting customer service !!!

Busy. Table booked but still had to wait for a table to be found. Then told a wait of 1 hour or more as they hadn't enough staff as they expected rain! Food was okay, but nobody came to ask if we wanted a dessert. One member of staffs attitude was appalling Needless to say a tip wasn't left. Dissapointed to say the least.

Very disappointed had to send my fish back family had finished Staff were apologetic but there was no offer to compensate

It's been a few years since the sun was rated fairly good for food but now it is abysmal with attendants in the kitchen who cannot be called chefs or cannot even be called cooks just dumping food on a plate luke warm and uninviting. The beer is expensive and the place lacks atmosphere, whilst there are families who perhaps know no better and still go with great expectations it is certainly one to be avoided until Marston's release more money for better quality ingredients and someone who knows what they are doing in the kitchen. The brewery failed to appreciate that poor quality and expense will deter people from returning so down and down it goes

Came here to celebrate my first Mother’s Day BARNEY made the evening one to remember his quirky & bubbly personality really made the night. Barney was an excellent waiter provided excellent service with a smile…a top guy!

I’m sorry to have write this. I visited with 3 friends and I went to the bar to place our order. It was only 1pm but I was told that the fish and chips were already unavailable, perhaps it was something to do with the suppliers but no explanation. I ordered 2 scampi, 1 gammon for my friends and a surf and turf for myself. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium. After a wait of approx 30 minutes ( which I think is a little excessive) our food arrived. When I cut into my steak it was over cooked and when I ate it, it was tough. No one came to check on our meals, but I wouldn’t have asked for a replacement as I was hungry and didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes. My friends meals were fine. There were parts of the steak that I couldn’t eat. It took a while for our plates to be cleared and I did mention to the waitress that it was overcooked and tough, she just said ‘Oh Sorry’. No offer of any compensation. I suppose because we have to pay up front they don’t think it’s necessary. It’s a real shame as it was my first visit and had hoped for a better experience.

Visited here on the 21st February at lunchtime Pre booked the visit Arrived and was given a gluten free menu as a member of the party was gluten free. Great selection on the gluten free menu and the other menu. Ordered drinks and food Service was good and food was of a good standard. Also had a voucher for 30% of main meals so extra bonus. Worth visiting

The food, service and ambiance is excellent, helped by the fact that we had a great service from Barney, we will definitely return

The food was beautiful and brought out to us very quickly. The only criticism is we ordered drinks to the table (four drinks, easier to order then carry over) and the restuarant was fairly quiet at the time we were there. The first round we had to go and ask and they had them poured but hadn't brought over to us, and the second time we waited 15 minutes. I was just about to go up to the bar as they brought them over.

Service was OK but the meal was not as requested. Meat not edible and generally tasteless. After many years, never again. Very disappointed.

The menu is so small, hardly any choice just very basic. The fries were really thin, basic oven fries, with barely any potato in and cold. Burger was OK, but again, very basic with just beef on a bun pretty much. I wouldnt visit again....

The food was immaculate, the staff were extremely efficient. Jess and Levi were amazing at the service so bubbly, and attentive.

Went early for dinner as we were going to see the Black Sabbath ballet at the Hippodrome in Birmingham. Arrived, stood there but no one acknowledged us; I finally asked a passing waitress if she could find our table as we had booked but were time bound. She obliged and we ordered. We both had the pie and chips which sadly seemed to be totally different to one that we had eaten a couple of months earlier (Change of supplier?) Lots of pastry, little filling. We paid by cash, the change from the amount tendered did not reappear, so we reduced the tip amount which we left on the table. Disappointing.

Beware and Alert ~ check you receipt carefully ~ very carefully - we visited the Sun for drinks and food. We ordered a round a drinks and my husband paid on his card - we sat down to look at the menu. My husband said how expensive the drinks were - so I said lets have a look at the receipt but he did not have one, so I went back to the bar to get the prices of the drinks, the drinks did not come to what he had been charged. I questioned this and I was told there was a "tip" added to the drinks of over £3 - I was shocked and disgusted. This had been added without consent, without any knowledge, without being told and without any signage in the Sun anywhere. We got the excess refunded to my husband's card, finished our drinks and left. So if you go, even just for drinks, make sure you ask for a receipt if you pay by card and check it carefully. So, in a nutshell shocking and disgusting and so underhanded. We will never be going back to the Sun. Cannot comment on the food as we left and eat elsewhere. With Pubs and Restaurants struggling if they try and con people like this perhaps they should all go.

Bought a pint of peroni and a large Pinot Grigio Blush at at a cost of £13.60.I said thats very expensive for a pub.The reply was take it up with Marstons.I will not be back thats 6 custermers lost .

Lovely food which is reasonably priced and good service. This is a lovely little pub we visit often.

We decided to try having not been for many years. The pub has had a refit and is very nice. Very family friendly. Enjoyed the table service particularly with children. Toilets were clean. Good choice on the menu and good to see not just chips and nuggets on the children's menu. Our four year old enjoyed the colouring in provided. Staff were lovely. Levi served us he was great. Very polite and friendly with our little boy who just loves to talk to everyone. The only thing is the food could be a little better. It was nice enough and sensibly priced, but I do feel there is a bit of heating up going on. Not so bad as to put us off but could definitely be better.

8 friends ate at the Sun on 3rd Oct and we all had excellent food and we will go again. Regularly eat here with friends and family. Love Georgia and the team.

We booked here after hearing it had been refurbished. We wasn't disappointed, 4 of us had steaks and 1 of us had the 3 for £13 option. The steaks were amazing and cooked perfectly to our liking, the staff were pleasant and professional and very accommodating. We had ago on the quiz and raffle and it was great! We will definitely be back, thankyou for a great night.

Excellent atmosphere and the food was amazing, pub is a decent size and the out door area is big with a child’s play area. It is in a quite location.

We use the pub quite a lot but this day we had a lovely Sunday dinner. As we arrived we were greeted by a member of staff called April, our table wasn’t quite ready but she was so accommodating to us as we wanted to be by the back door by the play area. She made us feel very welcome and made the experience better as the service from her was great. Food was lovely, atmosphere is great and prices are also reasonable. We will definitely be returning.

My dad’s birthday meal, had burgers which were very tasty. Fish was good and the lasagne also. Would recommend as I’ve been coming here since I was a young whipper snapper

Busy lively pub, 3 of us had 2 chicken burgers, chicken &bacon salad and side orders, thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere, very friendly staff, slight wait for food but expected on a Saturday night, we’ll definitely be back!

What can I say. Took our mom out for a meal. Thought we would give this pub another chance as we hadn’t been for sometime after a poor meal some years ago. Well it was worse Expensive very poor quality food Everything goes through a Microwave Hunters chicken was dried up and over cooked. Burger was also dry with oven fries the pie we had was boiling hot and cold in middle Felt sorry for the serving staff. Young girls who looked embarrassed at the rubbish they had to serve NEVER AGAIN

Last night we had a lovely evening at the Sun. Definitely a great location for large groups. Having such a big family, we rarely all get chance to get together but we felt very welcome and were well looked after. We were shown to our table easily and efficiently after a warm and friendly welcome from the manageress, who made a special effort to check on us throughout the evening. All the staff who looked after us were very friendly and always seemed ready and available to help even though they were clearly rushed off their feet with a full pub which says it all! Delicious food but the service made it all for us this evening, well done Sun, our new family dinner local.

terrible shocking food was pure black asked me where my table was and still gave my food to the wrong table crumbs in my drink staff are rude bar from a few ollie is lovely eve is wonderful rhea is so kind and polite there...

Lovely meal out at The Sun. They managed to fit a large group in last minute; and seat all 12 together. Eve was fantastic throughout, so patient with the kids.

Really nice meal. We had a lovely waitress who dealt with some very awkward customers. The manager was very professional and dealt with them appropriately. Good experience all round.

Poorly run. Feel sorry for the waiting staff as trying their hardest but management really need to review the running of this pub. Took 1.5 hours to get our salads, no warning that there would be a wait. Really disappointing

Barney was absolutely amazing, really welcoming and friendly. He kept asking us if we were okay and making conversations with us as he was patrolling the garden making sure the tables were clean ready for new customers.
