Great place to catch up with friends.The beer is always spot on and all the staff are fantastic , friendly ,helpful and great to chat to .

We were passing on our narrowboat around lunchtime when we had a dog-related emergency. Mark and his team were amazingly helpful. We returned for dinner to say thank you for their kindness and found the same warm welcome and genuine friendliness. When so many pubs are becoming "corporatised" and soulless, the Drawbridge Inn is a delightful surprise. A great place for boaters.

Stopped at Drawbridge Inn for drinks and food as we were travelling by barge on the canal. The food was lovely and the service by Tony was excellent from serving the food to clearing tables and glasses after our meal. Well done🍺🍺

I'm so sorry to tell you this but if there was a button for zero stars I'd of picked that! Pub was late opening booked a table for 11.30 left put side waiting after a two and half hours drove meeting mum and dad half way for lunch. There drinks order was all wrong. Both orders put through on table 4 separately ask to come out same time and mum and dad had finished eating before we had even got ours. The lady serving didn't even know what burgers it was she was asking me like you must know you work here no check back for us either. She was friendly and food was ok but all on all as a pub I'm terribly dissatisfied with my visit after travelling so far.

We visited today ( 2nd August 24) TONEY was wonderfully helpful my youngest son has autism and was struggling with all the noise he got the music turns off were we were stilling and made sure we had everything we needed. Our food came out and although there was a bit of a wait as it was so busy the food came out hot and perfectly cooked. Je came back to check on us to make sure we were OK and remembered the to boys names. He was very attentive thank you so much. If we come back to Birmingham we will define be back.

Cant really comment on food as just called in for a pint whilst passing on the canal. Poor choice of beers. IPA only so had to resort to Guinness. Nice setting by the canal but sure a Green King pub should have more beer choices. Very disappointed.

I'm absolutely in love with this pub!, It's one of my go-to spot for dinner with my kids or friends, or for grabbing a coffee after a lovely walk along the canal. The atmosphere is just perfect, staff here are incredible friendly and delightful.

I would like to meet the people who wrote the last half a dozen reviews (probably friends of the staff) as when we went the place was dirty, the food is clearly microwaved and the service at the bar was none existent, one person serving. Staff walked past empty glasses and dirty tables I might brave another visit just to see if a miracle has occurred.

Had the hunters chicken BBQ was very nice, chips were perfect. I had a look at what other people were having so I think I'll have the sirloin next time.

Great pub! Im local to this pub and area and im here often and i can say as pubs go its great! Great staff, great food fresh drinks with an abundance of selection to choose from. Staff are great at what they do very genuine and always strive for giving the best service no matter the occasion. Menu is great with a really good selection of food to choose from and the chefs are fantastic. Food is always a good standard and the staff are happy to help if otherwise but that is very rare as its always quality and on time. That brings me on to the service, its fast efficient and even when its busy they know who is first and next in line ect. Overall, as pubs go this is a great venue i 100% recommend, by far the best pub i have been to local in the Shirley/Solihull area. It is dog friendly and they really look after your pets from fresh water down to treats and fussing. Great venue, great vibe, helpful, friendly and genuinely good down to earth people/staff plus great food at a fast service and really good value for money! RECOMMEND 100%!!

Use this pub regularly have done for years Thursday evening two weeks a go Four of us eating as usual ordered food at 10 past 6 staff said there was a little delay but the kitchen was getting down the orders We received a free drink after an hour Went up to bar to ask about our food 3 or 4 times Staff very opologetic Food came out at ten to eight Food was poor and cold Had a full refund

It has been a while since visiting the Drawvridgr and we all had a very enjoyable evening. The food was absolutely fantastic and everyone said how lovely their meals were. The staff are very professional and pleasant and gave a fantastic service. The atmosphere was a very relaxing one and made the evening and meal very enjoyable. We will definitely be visiting again.

This is second time i have complained no response again very disappointed , Me and my partner went for some food here yesterday afternoon when up the bar was told hour and half wait pub didn't look that busy three drinks later food arrived at 17:00 to be greeted with a rude staff member : ' you ordered food no apologies on wait time then plonked food on table saying cutlery is over there on the table other side of pub and walked off i never felt like this in a pub totally shocking Then we tried the food terrible gammon burnt a few chips and a pot of peas my partners chicken strips was some like been in air fryer and drizzled with some kind of chilli sauce shocking experience will not visit again very disappointed

Landed on bank holiday Monday for something to eat. First impression. Moss growing out of the gutters, paint flaking off nearly everything on the outside, a damp smell on the inside, some food on the floor people had to walk around, decor looking very tatty and tired. Wanted a mixed grill. Told that there was no meat left only sirloin. So the mixed grill and half the menu was off. Not impressed.

The Drawbridge is a canalside pub and markets itself as such. We were on a boat and moored up for a lunchtime pint, remembering a good experience many years ago. But there was no bitter on the hand pumps, and it seems this is the new, and permanent, order of things… no real ale… in a canalside pub? Come on, Greene King, what are you playing at? Hint: you’re a brewery.

Awful! Have been going intermittently to this local since 1989. Last few months only one poor staff member on the bar waiting long time for a drink. Food cold and poor quality not as stated on menu with missing ingredients. No apology although refunded after several discussions with staff! Who is in charge? Complete shambles!

One of the worst experiences I've ever came across in this place, staff don't know there left and rights and the manager isn't a manger bar had 20 people in and they was acting like it had 200, don't even know where to find there table numbers, don't go there if you want food not worth your time, ok for a drink I suppose, thats about it.

Visited earlier this evening with a view to eating. No cask ale/beer available, apparently they have stopped selling real beer. Bar staff disinterested, unfriendly and down right rude especially when I said I would prefer to pour my own tonic into the gin . We sat in the dining area and witnessed the appalling attitude and actions of the food servers. We watched one server drop chips on the floor, we heard her comment to her colleague that she had dropped the chips. On her return she not only failed to pick the chips up, but she walked on them grinding them into the carpet. This along with empty bottles on the window sill and other food remains on the floor was not conducive to dining there this evening, so we left. Suggest management and staff undertake to adhere to Greene King’s own mission statement (screen shot attached) which encourages welcoming all and caring about their customers!

Was expecting mediocre and got the kitchen sink. Shirley's gem. The staff were Alittle posh but very friendly and orderly. locals were a delight and comical. Great parking, great carlins and great pic of crips. Park up, have a skinful, leave merily and nobody bats an eye. Glorious. Family friendly I watched two young lads play football in the carpark for 3+ hours. I spoke to a local called Ian who challenged me to balance a stool on my nose. Great place. Get yourself a few carlins down this gaff.

Called in to drawbridge for lunch with 2 friends,nice place only problem it took over 25mins for food to arrive and there was only a handfull of people in seems no staff what a shame for a nice place to be let down by I would assume is managing problems,

Not the sort of person that wants to leave a bad review but feel the drawbridge seems to be on a mission to destroy everything it had good about it. We’ve been coming here regular for a number of years and enjoyed the disco’s, band nights and the quiz night at the end of the week. Which have now sadly seemed to have been axed. The only good thing left is the sport but the atmosphere and feel of the place has gone. The left hand doesn’t seem to know what the right hand is doing amongst the staff. The homely family feel of the Drawbridge has disappeared at a very fast pace of knots. Hope you can get things sorted and back to how they use to be and would love to change my thoughts and leave a five star review in the future but I won’t hold my breath.

Arrived at the pub today, had a lovely meal and great service but was very disappointed the the quiz had been cancelled because there was a complaint about the quiz being played at the same time as the football last week. I can’t understand what the problem was, I played the quiz and watched the football at the same time. I am very disappointed that Mark is trying to build the pub up with other things and once again the football wins. Keep going by Mark you will get there.

Drink served in a dirty glass, staff haven’t come across what “smile” means. Table was dirty, staff were more inclined to speak to their friends than serve. Food tasted nuked….and then after p*** poor service someone approached my table and asked how the food was and stuck a card on it requesting a review. Gotta laugh. If people want to know why pubs are in decline, this pub is a great example.

Great food, fast on a Saturday with a big game on, great price. Superb value and local feel to everything, not to mention the pretty location.

What a waste of bloody time - came with friends to watch the football, only to find we have to watch in silence as they’ve decided to change the pub quiz to a Wednesday. Why?!! People come in to watch the footie and now that’s been ruined. Quiz used to happen on a Sunday on purpose so there was no clash with sports. Sort it out!

Ordered the chick/mix set menu, was told I couldn’t have fries only the waffle fries, then I asked if I could have chips instead of the fries as it was part of the set menu, was told no, but I could order the chips separately costing extra money. Still can’t understand this. Won’t be going again

Came here Easter Sunday. First time I'd been here, thought I'd try it. Barmaid was nice, as was the cider. Had the steak and ale pie. Mash and gravy were nice, but no amount of force would get my knife through the pastry on the pie, I gave up in the end, exhausted. Shame but never mind, lots of other pubs in Shirley.

Well where do I begin, I don't go to the place very often and if I could leave a 0 star review I would. I believe the place is under new management which I personally feel is a Joke, the new manager does not have a professional bone in his body for example yesterday evening there was a bit of a commotion where a punter said something quite disturbing to another punters daughter who could be no more than 14 months old, the father of the young child instead of kicking off reported it to the site manager and asked if he could remove this man from the facility which the manager refused. Instead of stopping a serious incident the manager turned his back to it and allowed it to continue to the point another punter who over heard had to call the police. Appalling service from someone who is new to the venue. This is supposed to be a family friendly facility yet the site manager is allowing inappropriate comments to be made to children he either needs to go or get sacked because we as customers will not accept this kind of behaviour. Absolutely shameful service. I truly hope greeneking see this and investigate further. I will ensure myself, family and friends never step foot in this venue ever again while he is under management. Disgraceful!!!

The first time to this venue celebrating a 90th birthday, just the 3 of us! Adele and the team were utterly delightful and super friendly, making us feel very welcome. The food was most impressive for the price and really hearty. Our dog Dylan was welcomed with water and treats before we even asked 👏 A smile goes a long way and they shared plenty, Personally, as an experienced operator and hospitality consultant, I found this overall experience a pleasant delight. I went here for a quiet meal with family. Unfortunately, at 8:00pm a pub quiz started which was blasting out from all speakers in the restaurant/dining area at an excessive volume. The service was also terrible and before I left, we were waiting over 1.5 hours for food. We then had a group of drunk obnoxious lads come over to our table and start asking us questions regarding a quiz we didn’t even enter. As I suffer from social anxiety and autism, the noise was so overwhelming I had to leave immediately. It was a terrible experience, at an establishment that has gone downhill and I would never visit again. I would give it 0 stars if I could. If you want to visit a noisy place with terrible service, full of obnoxious drunks, I’d highly recommend it. I’ve also written a complaint to greeneking regarding my experience.

Well, I'd been meaning to try this place for a while, short train journey for me, and it was great at first. Barmaid was lovely, cider was great, but......wanted to try the mac and cheese but it was off the menu, so I went for the steak and ale pie as an alternative. Peas, mash, gravy were lovely, but....as I didn't have a hammer and chisel I couldn't eat the pastry on the pie. Shame really, would have been a regular, but obviously put me off so won't be back.

Visited this pub for the first time with my 2 lads. Very busy. Had Hunters Chicken with chips and peas. Really good, hot, homely food, thoroughly enjoyed. Will go back again Staff friendly and helpful. Recommended. 👍

This was a brilliant 'locals' pub. Food usually good. However, since lack of good/proper management, a lot of the food is not available. Also due to lack of proper management, certain staff have taken it upon themselves to be 'in charge' barring customers willy nilly, upsetting locals with her attitude and in general leaving it an unpleasant place to go. PLEASE SORT THIS OUT !

Was looking forward to going here because havent been since before covid and we always loved it but what a disappointment. Not enough staff serving and the 2 that were on were so slow. Food was quite nice but not served as good as it used to be. I did ask for a plate which they supplied but my husbands skillit wasnt very attractive, food just thrown on. Waited ages for pudding to be served. We was so disappointed with service and atmosphere. Also asked for a sharing plate but hadnt got enough of the menu on it. We was there nearly 2 hrs and tables around us wasnt cleared or wiped down.

Great place to eat, friendly and very good value. Food was piping hot and still sizzling when it came to the table.

Brilliant pub for watching sports, decent pint, menu has plenty of options and the food is decent. HOWEVER, whenever I go on a weekend, the service at the bar, through no fault of the bar staff, is horrendous. Only ever seems to be one or two people serving what can be a very busy pub, waited around 15 minutes a time, people get very frustrated and the bar staff get overwhelmed, seems to be happening every time I go now, can get chaotic, help the poor staff out and employ more for the bar or sort something out as it can’t go on like this.

Very disappointed with our experience here. I went with my two friends & all of our main dishes were not available. & no Fanta available either. The size of the jacket potato was tiny & the chicken was dry. Our mains were brought out to us while we were still eating our starters. No cutlery or napkins on the table. Will not be returning, gone down hill since new management.

No fish and chips, no vegan burger. Tons of black pepper on the gammon steak! Chips looked reheated and were very dry. Ordered a Peroni, got a hideous glass that was way too big for a bottled lager!

Will be steering clear of here from now on. 3 times we had to change what we wanted as they have pie, fish or proper cheese. Was told we would be waiting 30 mins which actually turned into an hour after asking where our food was a second time. My Grandaughters macaroni cheese came 10 mins after everyone else which really upset her then twice we had to ask for the garlic bread for her meal and it arrived when we had all finished eating. There were 5 of us and 2 were diabetics who were desperate for their food. The one star is for the waitress who took all the moaning when it wasnt her fauly. If your short staffed and run out of some food you could at least email people who have booked so they have the option to eat elsewhere. We won't be returning.

Stopped in for coffee. 2 cappuccino were cold and had to be sent back. 2 cups for the tea sent back as cups dirty. Drinks took 20 mins to come. Won't be going back again.

The food was Luke warm at best, pretty tasteless. The place it self is very run down needs complete renovation, worst of all the toilets are disgusting, floor soaking wet and the smell is awful. Will not return.

I used it regulary with my partner at lunchtime and it was a great place to go, good food and a lovely atmosphere. However, there were issues in the run up to Christmas and very early into the New Year. These included the kitchen not opening until 1pm, reduced menu, no eggs, and on my last visit, it culminated in a leaving customer telling me that the kitchen was closed. It is by no means local to me and it took some considerable time to find a suitable alternative and we could actually eat. I assume there had been staffing issues but the website was no help, so I haven't been back since. Not sure when I'll return yet.

Visited for lunch and to watch the football. Great choice of screens, so had a good view of the match. Didn’t have to wait too long to get served. I had my first flatbread with spicy jalapeño and cheese hot link sausages and salad etc, and it was delicious. Couldn’t fault it. Would definitely eat there again

My family and I went for a festive meal. The pub looked grubby with glasses and plates everywhere.Half the items on the menu was out of stock. The bar staff looked uninterested. Unfortunately I won't be returning

I felt really relaxed here it kinda felt like home, staff are lovely and the atmosphere is so relaxed. All the staff are so lovely and caring especially Adele, Lacey, Luke and Fraser 🤍🤍🤍

Upon arrival we were seated and browsed the menu on the Green King app, 3/4 of the menu was out of stock, when we picked what we wanted it arrived a while later, mixed grill was rubbery and inedible & the mac n cheese was cold and watery. Not letting this ruin the evening we ordered puddings, again through the app. After waiting half an hour we asked how long they were going to be and the server responded with “what puddings.” very rude & unhelpful, he didn’t even offer to go and check for us. About 5 minutes later someone else came to let us know one of the pudding was out of stock, which again was awful service as we ordered them 35 minutes ago and no one thought to tell us sooner. The pub was very quiet so there was no excuse of them being busy. Luke was amazing, he offered us a full refund on the puddings and even gave us 2 for free, he was so apologetic and kind.

Had a member of staff being rude and anything you asked him was just a problem. Lovely lad there called luke, sorted out any issue. He was golden and is fabulous with customers

Me and my friends went on the 23rd December. It was not busy at all. The service from the bar staff omg was astonishing terrible. I had asked if my coffee and water could be brought to the table as I can't carry, the look I got was just terrible. Making me feel even more small. My fully able friend joined us and even she thought their attitude was disgraceful. However the catering ladies were nice! My other friend was very shocked as she's been a good few times and never had any trouble as a disabled customer.

The staff and even manager at this pub are unbelievably rude. Walked into an empty pub full of reserve signs which on some tables were not showing as reserved until at least three hours later. Was refused service for food as their policy is not to serve walk ins which seemed strange. Ordered a drink which I informed they had sold out of so was offered an alternative only to be told, after a short wait, that this was also unavailable. Have been in this pub before to face a similar service but thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Never again.

We were initially booked in for 4 O'clock but changed it to 5 O'clock unfortunately they didn't tell the chef as the food was very well done so well done that the roast potatoes were that hard we couldn't cut them and as it was a christmas meal it was very disappointing

Went for Christmas meal. Very disappointed,food tough. Roasts like a rock. Turkey dry and curled up on the edges. Gravy like blancmange.
