Sultan's Palace in Liverpool

Placed an order at 5.30pm they have just arrived now. I DID NOT ACCEPT THE ORDER AS IT WAS 3 HOURS LATE!!!!

Service was a little slow, food whilst nice could have been hotter

On a day visit to Liverpool, looked on TripAdvisor for Indian Restaurant and this little gem came up, from entering to leaving we were looked after and the food was 1st class. Would return if in Liverpool again

I'll keep it simple, quite literally in my top 3 of all the places I've eaten Indian food, (and I've had a lot) the only downside was a table of 7 across from us, 3 of them throwing food at each other, no respect whatsoever for the food or others. Will definitely return 💯💯💯

Requested a side table or booth and this was provided with no problem, table was ready at the time we booked and food was amazing, went with a friend but will be bringing my family back very soon!

Top notch food and service as expected. Very busy which is good to see and as wud expect a bit of a longer wait. Staff very attentive and pleasant. This place never disappoints.

A great experience from booking online, being welcomed at the restaurant, to an appetizing menu of food. Slick and high quality service throughout. Highly recommended if you are visiting Liverpool and love Indian food.

We had an absolutely fabulous meal. The staff were very attentive and helpful particularly with regard to one of our group who has a nut allergy. The menu is extremely extensive. We will definitely be back.

Organised a stag meal there. Place was really busy but great food and really good service. Pity we weren’t all in the same room but still a great time.

Sadly disappointed by this place. I had booked it for my Bday, and decided to test it out beforehand as I hadn't been before. I was very underwhelmed, the quality of the food was below what I'd expect based on the restaurant's claims, and it was absolutely not worth the cost. The food was quite bland, oily, and subpar. It reminded me of the sort of thing you'd get at the local takeaway except this was twice the price. If you're looking for a really good indian restaurant in liverpool, I'm afraid this isn't it. I'd suggest trying Akshaya which is a little further out but worth the trip.

Myself and 2 friends had a really nice meal here. 2 of us had the banquet which was fabulous value. Service was excellent. The only negative is the restaurant needs a make over, especially the toilets, it’s all very outdated and tired.

The sort of shop front you wouldn’t look twice at, but we were led down to a restaurant bigger than you expect. Not a swanky place by any stretch of the imagination but great food, service and value for money.

In these days of "street food", which I'm sure is very popular, however if you're of a certain age who still longs for the more traditional popadoms, cobra, rice and main arriving at the same time the Suntans Palace is a place to visit.Fabulous restaurant.

I love Indian cuisine and this restaurant does it justice! Absolutely delicious dishes 😋 Service is also 100.. you don’t have to wait unnecessarily long for meals. If I lived in Liverpool, I would definitely frequent them ☺️.

The food and service were excellent, but far to noisy and loud conversations. it was like being in a school dinner hall.

This is our 2nd visit here. The service, and atmosphere really good. Staff are lovely. The menu extensive and the food is fabulous. Prices are decent too.advisable to book as it gets very busy. Will be back.

Very nice traditional large Indian restaurant. Didn’t book (approx 8pm) but got seated in one of their large booths. Fresh popadoms, dips and drinks served before we ordered the main meal. First class food, large portions, good service and because the booths are large, plenty of space. We were on a city break and so glad we opted for this place. Good prices too.

Food and service were fabulous as always! We have been customers for over 15 years and this is our favourite Indian Restaurant.

I ordered chicken dansak... It was NOT chicken dansak at all. I think the chef created his own version and it was not appetising at all! The price was expensive for what they dished up!🤮

A fantastic restsurant from decor to service and food. Situated in the basement which adds to the atmosphere. The staff were attentive, efficient and friendly. A huge selection of food was available, with chefs selections and banquets available. Everything was served hot and was delicious. Would love to return if I visit Liverpool again

Finally thought we'd try this out, it's been here for a while I know. I really like the decor and layout of this place, painted white,quite spacious, with booths around the walls and a foyer with leather seats at the entrance, where we had to wait 10 mins before our table was ready, and then another 10 to order. Drinks (Cobra lager being the only non wine beverages available) took another 5 minutes to arrive. Not ideal, but we've had longer waits. The main thing's the food, after all. Had chutneys and poppadoms for starters and also masala chips ( which were quite nice). They couldn't accommodate my request for a vegan madras ( though everywhere else I've eaten could), so I plumped for the jackfruit masala and the wife for the usual rogan josh, with onion pulau rice and tandoori rotis. Mine was passable but not something I'd enthuse about ( least of all the price), not quite saucy enough and apparently no vegetables while the wife's rogan josh bizarrely had no tomatoes and looked similarly insipid, with frozen vegetables to boot. Mentioned this to the waiter and he offered to get the chef to cook another one ( rogan josh), but we declined. We did,however, hope that they'd deduct this from the bill, but they didn't, so we deducted the tip instead and left- no reflection on the waiters, who were polite and pleasant,but we definitely won't go again.

Stumbled across this restaurant while out in Liverpool for a show. Called in without a reservation, staff were very friendly. Both the quality of the food and service was excellent. Will definitely be returning.

Popped in on Sunday night as we were in liverpool for a concert. Staff were very friendly and we were not rushed. Food was amazing unfortunately for me I ordered something that was way too spicy for me so infuture would order something milder. Would I return . Yes

Good menu - nice choice food and drink. Service can be a bit hit and miss. Last time was told need table in 60 minutes, so you can only have a main. We were out in 50 minutes. Felt rushed with them chasing to order, although food took a while to arrive. Food was mainly good - one naan was burnt on bottom and came late. Would still recommend the place, but best going early when not too busy. I think you'd get nicer service then without being rushed. The specials are a good choice.

The one big disappointment at the place was that they didn’t provide Thalis for two people, they had a minimum requirement for 4. They did have a Thali for 2, but the dishes were vegetarian when it was stated as Non Veg Banquet. Another thing that upset me was the Matka Kulfi that I ordered, I felt like I’ve had something similar and I’m sure it’s the Kulfi Ice that Asda sells, I think the brand is Royal something. I think Indian restaurants in the UK or atleast who claim to be should keep it authentic otherwise there’s no point in paying the price on a higher side, instead I can pay less than a pound and buy some ice lolly. Apart from this, the dishes were good, my friend did try the vegetarian thali and he said that it was really similar to the taste in Indian restaurants.

My girlfriend and I came here last night and were disappointed by both the food and the service. The service was slow, about 45 for our mains to arrive after we had ordered, and it took longer than expected for waiters to come over and take our order. The food itself ranged from bland to okay. We ordered the chicken jalfrezi which came out as 4 cubes of chicken that had water dripping from under them, which gave the impression they had been reheated. The same could be said for the South Indian garlic chicken curry we had, which was better but far from good. Overall a fairly poor to average Indian restaurant. I wouldn't recommend

We came to Liverpool from Scotland -read the reviews so came to dine in .the Sultans Palace. We loved it .food was excellent as was the atmosphere.

Two friends meeting up wanted good food and a chance to chat. We chose an ‘off peak’ time that was perfect. Service was, as always, excellent, as was the food. I am no expert at Indian cuisine but I know what I like and always find it here.

My experience at Sultan’s Palace was mixed. It’s the first time I’ve ever finished all my food at a restaurant, but that was mainly due to the small portion sizes. Both the rice and gravy portions were too small to satisfy two people. While the food was tasty, they really need to increase the portion sizes to match the price.

Food was nice although very salty.service fantastic but unfortunately atmoshere awful dur to noise unable to relax or comunicate with my partner due to large group of males very loud and arogant. Some people moved although we didnt have this option so this made our date night disappointing.

We were a party of seven. We received a warm welcome . Food items on the menu were explained and when we ordered we were advised that we were ordering too much rice. The meal was well paced and all the food was delicious. We will definitely visit again. Also the decor was beautiful with lots of space between the tables and a calm atmosphere.

Everyone else was very happy with their food. I ordered a king prawn biryani which very strangely did not come with a curry sauce but with riata instead. Really not keen. Maybe give customers a choice of sauce with Biryani like you used to.. Service was great. Staff were very attentive land ovely and food came quickly and was piping hot

Oh my gosh, we had seen all the good reviews on Trip advisor and we were NOT disappointed. The food was so tasty, plenty of chicken & king prawns in our dishes. The rice was light, fluffy and flavoursome. Garlic Nan & scrumptious O ion Bahjee's . Excellent service,our waiter was friendly, happy and so helpful. We are only disappointed that we don't live in Liverpool so can't come and eat here again!!!!!

I’m only back in Liverpool once a year, but I’d read some great reviews and wanted to try it. The food was fantastic. I had keema naan and it was the best naan I’ve ever had. I had a lamb Rogan Josh, the lamb was so soft, with egg pulao rice. All wash down with a nice Chianti. Price was very reasonable for the quality.

Came here for my dad's 60th birthday celebration. Everything about this establishment is fantastic, food, atmosphere and service all exceptional. Will be visiting this place again and would recommend this place to anyone who loves Indian food.

This Restaurant is 107 of over 1300 in Liverpool … WHY???? It definitely is in the top 50. We had meal here Aug 10th We had probably the best Indian food in the UK. Service 6/5 Food quality 10/5 The mixed grill won’t be beaten anywhere in the UK. We loved it so much we cancelled our meal at a bold street ( top 50 restaurant on trip advisor ) And wasn’t disappointed again on the 11th Aug

Just had a fantastic meal tonight..1st August..so filling and fresh fantastic staff ..really looked after me and my wife on my birthday..brought over a cake with candles on ..I would definitely recommend this restaurant..thanks to the staff again 👍🏻

Worst looking onion bhajis I have ever seen. The worst vegetable jalafreez ever, full of peas and carrots also very little sauce. Frozen chips, try making proper ones. Naan bread was soggy and undercooked. Probably the worst experience and not cheap.

Only one person serving at the bar even though it was a busy Saturday early evening meaning drinks took a long time to order and arrive Food was ok big portions for the price but the quality wasn’t the best Added £20 service charge which I didn’t see I just paid as it was my sons birthday but in hindsight I should of checked first I won’t be returning there are much nicer places to eat

We had a lovely meal while visiting Liverpool, only managed the poppadoms to start and mains were mixed tandoori, chicken balti and chicken korma which were all delicious.

1 portion of rice did not arrive until about 15 minutes after everything else! Waiter really surprised when we didn't accept it as we'd almost finished eating!
