Mowgli Street Food - Water Street in Liverpool

Today I scattered my mums ashes into the mersey. We thought mowgli would be a good place to eat. Mum loved the great British menu tv show. The service was good and the waiting staff where great. We ordered the workers tiffin box each, a non alcoholic drink and a dessert. The food was luke warm. By the time it had been served onto the plates it cooled down even further. We think because the plates are metal it didn't help. The variety of dishes between the 3 tiffin boxes was very poor. We ended up with the same dishes. Best part was the desserts. My friends had the chocolate brownie and I had the gulab jamun. Probably won't go back.

I recommend the cocktails! Tasty and refined cuisine that awakens your taste buds but is not too spicy.

The food was more tamarind based.It was OK, not truly authentic.

Hmmm. Interesting. Told we had to sit where we we put lol. Then waitress informed us that we should be aware that the meal portions were small and we should get several ...interesting welcome as a customer to the restaurant lol. But the food turned out very nice and the lady who served us in the end was pleasant and helpful. Btw the portions were perfectly good size

Nice place. Tasty food. A little hit and miss on service - friendly but some if out group missed out on what they ordered.

My expectations were very high due to my love of Great British Menu and Nisha Katona. I'm not sure it quite met them a little under seasoned and missing a bit of spice. The staff were great though and my family enjoyed their meal. The house lamb was great. I think it's a very good chain restaurant would visit again.

Went as a party of 6 and sat in the upstairs setting area! Waitress who served us was fantastic and helped with all food options, have to say the food is excellent myself and partner eat, treacle fries, lamb chops and sticky chicken and potato curry and it was delicious! Our winner was the sticky chicken even though it came very late and we had to remind them. Very please overall however when the bill arrived I have to say sticking 12.5% on a table of six was over the top for the service, bill including drinks came to £192. We paid it but think that as always service charges should be applied for large groups but I think £21 for what service we recieved was excessive. I will visit again but not in a hurry as I think other equally good options without this charge.

Beautiful place and the food was delicious. The restaurant is lit by a few thousand fair lights, and the ‘jungle’ theme is continued with swing seats, hanging moss and rich greens. Our server was a lovely young lady, bright and friendly. All the staff seemed engaged. The food was well priced, wonderfully tasty and just the right quantity. We felt full but not overfilled. I had an espresso martini which was one of the best I’ve had. And we shared a great gluten free chocolate brownie. The only issue I had was with the swing seats - they’re undeniably fun, but the ropes constrict your arms when you’re trying to eat. Which is kinda problematic for a place where you eat.

Awesome as all Mowgli restaurants are. Been a fan since the first week they opened.

I love it here! The food is prepared to the founders' home style and I find it delicious. My go to menu choice now is an office workers tiffin and at £20 for rice and three small dishes (chef's choice) its not overly expensive. Every time I've had it, I've ended up with a different variety, so sampled several curries and sides now. The chicken and lamb always melts in your mouth and the veg/carb sides are really tasty. I like Indian food to be hot/spicy normally but the first time I went, the staff explained the way the food was served as standard and offered me extra fresh sliced chilli and chilli oil on the side, which I get every time. Washed down with a lovely 'Mowgli gin', always a delicious meal. I've always found the service good and the staff really pleasant and attentive too. Really busy restaurant even mid-week and day time so advisable to pre-book a table.

Just delicious food! Drinks a little too sweet for my liking but the food was great! Small portions but if you want to share and try different things that’s a place to visit! It took a while for the waiter to come back and ask if we needed more drinks etc, but other than that it was a great experience!

Food excellent as always, service somewhat lacking, waited 15 minutes to order dessert after being given the menus and then told had to rush eating dessert as the table would be needed! Not impressed that a 12% service charge is automatically added!

It's a really nice place we had a great night for my daughter's 40 birthday party and everyone said that was a great night and the food was lovely

Could not recommend more highly. First time for my husband and myself. Staff could not be any more helpful and accommodation with us. I tend to eat very plain food but loved everything I had. We will be back, soon. Thank you.

Not bothered about their small portions as it was already been informed. Giving those stars to their service.If you are expecting an authentic Indian dining you'll be disappointed. In one word a high priced disaster, even sainsbury's ready to eat meals are worthy than this. Not forgetting to mention the drinks , they were good.

we went to Mogli on sunday afternoon with a family. Our server was fantastic and she visited to our table a few times, checking in to make sure we enjoyed everything. The food was amazing.

Been to Mowgli before so was really looking forward to celebrating my son and his partners birthday Well all I can say.... I felt really let down and disappointed the standard and quality of food was poor to say the least, food was just warm and each dish was more or less the same taste .. no heart in its presentation at all! However, we did complain and I must say the Manager was really nice and apologetic for our experience and gave us a 30% discount! The waiting on staff were lovely too Would I go again ..no sorry !

Having just been given 3 Mowgli recipe books I was very keen to experience the real thing... Oh my goodness.... Chat bombs are an amazing experience...

Quality is good but quantity is poor and cost is high for what you get. Just spent £68 including wine and now sitting in the hotel eating biscuits to fill up. I can get as good quality a lot cheaper elsewhere

So the tiffin box only contains chicken and vegetarian dishes however the portion size has also reduced and the 3 curries I had were served warm to room temperature. I used to love eating here but might give it a miss for awhile.

Fab food, unbeatable food! Great place for a night out. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere! Give it a try - you will be back!

First visit, good restaurant, service excellent. Not a supporter of bringing food in any order as it's ready, really for the restaurant's convenience. However, did enjoy the food, particularly the chicken dishes.

One of the worst restaurants I ever been to in Liverpool. I went in and ask for take way, the lady at the reception says “who told you we do takeaway?” It’s a restaurant, that is what you do, if you don’t, explain in a polite way. I’m 100% sure she is racist, avoid coming here at all costs.

Food is ok but small portions and overpriced

Loved everything about this place and will search out their London branch now I'm back home!. Staff were super friendly and helpful with their recommendations (must try the yoghurt chat bombs!). I had the house lamb curry and it was perfect. Check it out, but book early as it's very popular.

Last went here 4 year's ago really enjoyed the food on that visit, this time the menus have changed and portions ard smaller and prices are higher I didn't really enjoy my choice of food this time it was okay didnt eat it all my family whom i went with were disappointed the service was good and friendly. Atmosphere was ok . cost of drinks are a bit pricey though £3:50 for a can of coke and £8:95 for cocktails. Maybe I'm being fussy but I won't be going back to mowgli fo a while! bring back the old menus .

We came tonight for my daughters Birthday as it's one of her favourite places to eat. As always, we love walking through the door to the fabulous twinkly ambience that awaits. Tonight we all enjoyed our food as always. We had the loveliest waitress and I wish I'd noted her name, she had somehow noted it was a Birthday and at the end of the meal gave my daughter a delicious brownie with ice cream and a candle, how kind to notice and do this, it was very unexpected, so to the lovely waitrose with a lovely smile... Thankyou and we'll be back soon 😍

Perfect place to eat, food is 10/10 no food like it in Liverpool. Always order the Yoghurt Chat Bombs whilst you're deciding which are frankly still the best thing on the menu. Which says a lot because the lamb chops, the sticky chicken and the angry bird are all delicious. Paneer curry is sweet and tasty, the cheese cubes being an easy choice over other meat options. That's not to say its the inky good as the chicken and lamb curries are also incredible. Service in this restaurant was impeccable, friendly and swift. The feel of the restaurant is comfy but still felt like a special night out with family. All being said it's no doubt we'll return time and again.

Service was great! We had to wait 45 minutes for our food after half our food already being served. They resolved the situation by taking the meals we waited on off the bill but overall I believe they should have done better. First time being at this restaurant and probably the last time. Not a great first impression.

They hung up on me after asking if they served a certain dish. Not sure what sort of customer service that is, but I am not pleased. Never again.

Been recommended to visit this one but I regret that I have spent my evening here on my quick trip to Liverpool instead all the nice restaurants around There was like thousand people working but no atmosphere just like robots no attention to detail …

Food is not too spicy and very tasty,especially following the servers' recommendations. The other good thing is that they remain open from lunchtime till late,something which very few Indian restaurants do.

A really enjoyable meal The food was excellent, right quantities and mix of dishes available The service was attentive but not over bearing The waitress was knowledge about the dishes on the menu The atmosphere was something special with all the fairy lights and not too noisy that you could easily hold a conversation with your table companions

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here! I feel like its more of a indian fusion with something else, but the uniqueness in flavors was exactly what I like. If you want to taste things, I would recommend this place.

Overrated, my food was bland. The dhal tasted watery and not at all authentic. Maybe the street food would have been more worthwhile?

Office workers tiffin set menu for two £25pp 😀. At first I thought it wouldn’t be enough food, but as I was halfway through the main, I was definitely filling up! The Fenugreek Kissed Fries are 10/10 🍟. The kitchen gives you a variety of currys (2 meat and 1 veg) so everyone at the table who shared a set menu had a different curry to you. The roti was quite bland and didn’t have the buttery ghee taste but I enjoyed the rest of the main ☺️. The brownie was cold for me as I prefer a warm gooey brownie, however the vanilla ice cream was lovely 🍨… mango smoothie was nice as well 🥭… defo recommend the set menu if you’re unsure of what to get 😊!!

No need for a starter if you're getting "The Tiffin Box for One", I made that mistake but ended up leaving loads!!

Food amazing - server could've looked as though he wanted to be there however why should he when he was getting a tip through the 12.5% service charge added !! Perhaps should make customers aware of this ?

Chose office tiiffin box. One dish hot, two warm (temperature not taste). Food goes cold quickly. Sent wife's dish back as luke warm, however quickly replaced. Food very tasty. Venue a bit bright and blingy. Don't particularly like being told I am donating to their charity and then 12.5% tip.

The service was 10/10 and so was the atmosphere. The staff were lovely and well composed. The food was nice but I feel it wasn’t 100% authentic, I feel the flavours have been lessened to attract a wider range of people, which is fine I guess. However the taste was not issue and was worth the money. I got “Worker’s Tiffin” which was a good way to taste test a good amount of the menu.

Absolutely brilliant place to spend my 50th birthday. Staff were amazing, food was divine and the atmosphere was just right.

Quite a lot of dishes to choose from, works night out. Would definitely take the wife or friends here to taste the Indian street food.

Every time we visit Liverpool ( that's quiet regular) we are go for lunch or dinner to Mowgli and we never get disappointed about the food, I can't say the same about the bill its not about the price of the food it is about that 12,5% service charge. We know it is optional but in my opinion it should not on the bill!

A great spot in Liverpool! Super atmosphere with a very friendly and efficient service. The food is always served hot and a blend of some incredible home like flavours. The treacle fries are just a must! Unbelievable!!

food was repetitive, everything tasted the same. butter chicken was disappointing, but i will say that the customer service was very good and welcoming. wouldn’t go again though, much better and cheaper indian places in liverpool.

Visited Mowgli for the first time. First impressions are that the interior is spotlessly clean and expensive in it's detail. We were shown to a four seater table by our helpful waitress. She explained that it was popular to order a few items off the menu, usually 3. We ordered across the menu some sharing item including treacle plus fenugreek chips. I personally ordered the Prawn curry which was quite spicy but delicious. The tab for the four of us was £150.00 drinks and food and this included a £16 service charge. I would say a 2 and half orders across a number of people would be okay as we were quite full after our 3 items pp. Overall very good and will be returning.

The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. There was a slight issue with our order and I feel they were still so fast I didn’t notice and we were offered complimentary drinks. Absolutely amazing, highly recommend.

Great food, lively atmosphere but could still hold a conversation. Personal favourite dishes were the chip butty and sticky chicken. Service was friendly and everything well explained. "Best" white wine was just OK but perfectly quaffable - only thing I think they could have done any better at. Will be back!

Looking for somewhere to eat in Liverpool. Google suggested Mowgli. Visited the Birmingham restaurant and loved the food so, off we trotted. Got a seat (well .. a swing) and ordered our food. No complaints, good turnaround between order and food arriving. Tastes were amazing and we left feeling full and content. We will be back.

Mowgli is one of my favourite places to eat. The food is always delicious and cocktails are beautiful.
