Visiting from Australia (born in Liverpool, England). If I could convince the owners to bring this business to Australia, I would live next door. Best Indian I have had in over 8 years, Australian Indian food does not compete with good old English Indian 👌🥰

Ordered a madras and was looking forward to it because it’s always really good .. however I got a mixture of I think a rogan Josh and something tomato based .. I know my curry’s and have been a loyal customer until now very disappointed

We have visited here about 6 times over the last 12 months and every visit has been an excellent experience, food is always plentiful piping hot and flavoursome, staff are always attentive friendly and polite. Would highly recommend and look forward to our next visit.

Taste good but not spicy for a balti

Go there all the time and mostly spot on and when something wasn't right they always correct it no fuss. Banter is good with the lads. No other restaurant has come close.

Amazing food, really good value. Portion sizes were quite big and food was served hot and with hot plates which is always a bonus. Nicely decorated inside and staff were friendly. Bonus that this restaurant also offers a take away service.

We have been past this place numerous times, and also very loyal to our usual Indian but we thought we'd give it a go. We were not dissapointed. Firstly service was friendly and prompt. Then the food came and it was outstanding. It was all piping hot and so flavourful. The menu is really generous and there is so much choice. Price wise I was quite surprised as I thought it would be way more expensive. Glad we went and we will visit again.

Turned up on a Saturday night without a reservation but they found us a table. Staff were friendly and the food was really good. Didn't give full stars as they forgot our poppadoms and we had to chase a few times for drinks but we'll definitely be back

Best Indian food in south Liverpool!

A great Indian restaurant with many awards for it's brilliant food. A lovely place for family celebrations. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend

Got our takeaway order catastrophically wrong this evening 🤦 How do they get something so simple, so wrong??? Food was eventually excellent though.

We have eaten here several times, service and food have always been great. The Special; Rice IS the best. However I have given 3 stars for service as we ordered take away food instore, as phone was not being answered. We sat and waited almost an hour, while other 'phone orders came and went. They did keep apologising for the delay but did nothing to improve the wait. Don't think we will be using the takeaway service again.

Ordered takeaway at the counter and took a seat while we waited ordered pint and a large red wine. After half an hour we ordered another pint and a large red wine. Asked waiters several times what hafmd happened to our £35 ordered and each time we're told it would be five minutes. We were not warned how long the waiting time was when we ordered and after waiting 80 minutes we had to leave and get a Chinese takeaway from across the road. We struggled to get out of the door through the number of families/People waiting to collect takeaways. Never had a problem before, just owners biting off more than they can chew.

Went on Thursday 28th December to meet family for a meal and had the worse time ever . Poor service , poor food , absolutely shocking and no apologies given . Got to restaurant for a 5.30 booking , had to ask for a menu after waiting for a while , finally took our order after another long wait but it went even worse after that . Waited over half an hour for our stater to arrive then waited ages for the plates to be cleared after it and after that we then waited until 7.55 for our main to arrive which when you consider we arrived at restaurant at 5.30 that is absolutely shocking . We were about to cancel our mains when they brought them out . The problem seemed to be that they were concerned more with getting the takeaway orders done than seeing to the customers in the restaurant as they were bringing them out more than the meals in house . Absolutely shocking service , in what used to be a nice place to go with good service but unfortunately not any more , when we did eventually get our mains some of the meals were cold also . Definitely won't be going back there or recommending it to anyone else either .

Only been here years ago when it first opened. And didn't rate it then. But went on a Sunday night. It was quite busy. Poppadoms and chutneys were nice. I had prawn puri madras hot. And it was lovely. Wife got chicken shashlick with Rogan Josh sauce. And that was excellent. I got lamb sillsila. And it was a great balance of mild and hot with the green chilli that was in it keema rice was nice. Naan bread was lovely. Couldn't fault it. Highly recommended. 👍

Nice curry sauce but there was only a slither of chicken in each meal ( thin slices) I'd say less than 1 full fillet (if that) of chicken . To expensive to just pay for curry sauce . Takeaway bill came to 50 for 3 curries 1 curry 1 rice and 1 chips, 1 bread. Disappointing .

Went because a pamphlet came through the door. I'd seen the place countless times as I drove past but had never been. My mistake. The food is the best Indian food I've had for a very long time and the best in South Liverpool, in my humble. Been three times and going again next week to celebrate a birthday. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We regularly go here when we have visitors/family. Amazing food and - usually - great service. Today we rang and pre booked but were left to sit as we obviously hadn’t been .booked. Eventually got a table that wasn’t the best at the back by the kitchens which was disappointing considering we had booked. This is the first time we’ve been dissappointed tbh though and food was usual good standard though. Booking system needs to be tightened up- used to be able,to do online

The food and service here are absolutely outstanding. It is, by far, my favourite Indian in the northwest. They also do takeaway.

Consistently high standard of food. We have takeaway quite often, and have been there for Christmas dinner several years in a row. They do get very busy, especially at weekends, and a very minor criticism is they sometimes miss items from your order, but any problems are quickly corrected with a phone call.

I’m never out of here. Feel very lucky to have it so local to me. Still the best Indian food in Liverpool by a mile. If you are a visitor to Liverpool this is a must visit. I had the lamb rogan Josh, the lamb itself was cooked very well, but the sauce was overly spicy for this dish, it was also very bland & tasteless, which was disappointing as we’ve been here before & I remember enjoying that dish. After asking for the bill we where left sitting there & had to ask again when a staff member passed us, they where just stood at the bar area talking, which is fine as it wasn’t busy, but not when customers are left waiting.

My wife and I are in our mid sixties and it is true to say that we have had our fair share of Indian meals over the years, in many countries, including India. The meal we had last night was up there in the top 10! I had the Chicken Makhani and my wife had the Chicken Saagwala as well as starters, sides, dessert and drinks. The staff that served us, at least five or six different people, were all very friendly and the courses were brought up in s timely manner; not too quick and not too long. Finally when the bill came we couldn't believe how reasonable it was. Definitely one of the best meals we have had and we would willingly have paid another £30/£40 as we had expected to pay far more. We are looking for an excuse to go back!

Wow! The food here is amazing! We had chicken chat puri, king prawn tandoori and the crispiest onion bhajis ever. For mains, chicken tikka masala and lamb bhuna with mushroom rice and crispy but soft, sweet but not over sweet peshwari naan. Would recommend!! Staff very attentive and lovely surroundings!

The purple olive has became a regular place to eat for us over the last 2 years or so, the food is great and the staff are friendly, it is also very popular so the atmosphere is always great too! Initially I was reluctant to try the purple olive after a friend had witnessed staff having a burping contest behind the bar but now I wouldn’t choose another place to go for an Indian takeaway or sit down meal, this place is a hidden gem (if you arnt local to the area). The purple olive is a must if you are looking for an Indian meal, best place to eat in the area!

Never lets us down, staff very polite and professional, food was excellent great evening. Only minor problem was the air conditioning was a bit drafty but it was a warm summers night

As usual a lovely welcome but the air conditioning was on and we were all cold. I know the weather has been good but it's nice to be comfortable while eating. We asked for the air con to be altered and it was while we ate our meal which as usual was lovely.

Lovely food the only problem I had with it the curry sauce was to hot for my liking but enjoyed the rest of the food comfortable place very clean place very friend staff even give you a dodgy bag to take home

First time at Purple Olive. I've heard people rave about how nice the food is, they were not kidding. The food was absolutely delicious. Sorry, there are no pics of my food, it went down the moment I got it. The aromas really hit your nose in a very pleasant way. I would recommend Purple Olive 100% 🙂

Amazing food , great service , great atmosphere!!

Called ahead. Said we can walk in. Granted, it was 10 pm on Friday. Didn't expect miracles at that time. They said head down, it's fine. Service and food were fantastic. Only drawback was they literally started cleaning up around us. Again, fine, it was late. Weren't a big fan of 2 bleach filled mops placed on either side of us whilst still eating. Made the scoff taste like domestos. We asked for it to be bagged up and scarpered.

One of my favourite restaurants. Always excellent food. Spicy butter chicken is superb. Also have a really good sweet chilli sauce they serve with the poppadoms I've not seen elsewhere. Highly recommended

Asked if biryani came with rice was told no, ordered side of rice and it was a rice dish, curry was bland and watery, even asked for hotter curry and that was like tomato with no flavour

First visit here, won’t be our last. Buzzing atmosphere at 6.30pm on a Friday. Very impressive food, decent portion size, attentive waiting staff. Maybe not the cheapest around, but illustrated that you get what you pay for!

Thankfully it was worth the long wait for food which I guess was not a surprise as there were 22 of us. I enjoyed the Olive Special asked for without garlic - it was a nice change and had a bit of chicken, lamb and Sheesh kebab.

I didn't know what to expect from an Indian restaurant far from the center, but it was a really nice.experience. Staff very friendly, nice menu (maybe a bit long as in all the Indian restaurants), food very tasty, a bit Indian food western style, but not exaggerated, so the overall experience was very interesting

First visit last night, the hottest day in history of the UK with a party if 9, so the air conditioning was so welcome. Fabulous visit from start to end decor, ambience, cleanliness, comfort, table linen all very good. All 9 of us chose different dishes with assistance from extremely knowledgeable, patient and helpful waiter, he knew his menu well. Food was delicious and piping hot and all served together +++. The service was excellent, such a pleasure to be served by well trained, friendly and professional staff who actually appear to enjoy their job. I only caught one of their names, I think Dan but they were all amazing, thankyou all. A thoroughly enjoyable evening at a very reasonable cost, cannot recommend highly enough, thankyou so much.

Staying at the Premier Inn at Liverpool Airport and fancied an Indian and found this place 5 mins away, very modern decor and the most amazing food. The owner is a lovely man and nothing is too much trouble, give it a try, you will not regret it.

Very nice staff, the staff took time to explain the vegetarian meals and if they would be too spicy for me, enjoyed my vegetarian meal what was recommended for me

Rang multiple times at 7pm on a Friday night to order. Waited a while on auto hold each time - "the person you are calling knows you are waiting" - only for the call to eventually automatically hang up. Really wanted to try this place but don't go round putting leaflets through doors if you are going to ignore calls when it gets busy in-house!

I ordered Tandoori lamb chops with mushroom pilau unfortunately the chops where inedible as they where overcooked. They where understanding agreed and didn't charge me.

This is genuinely the best food that I have ever eaten I. Liverpool. I've now been on approaching a half dozen occasions and never repeated a course. Every single thing that I've eaten here has been wonderful. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Stunning.

Very dissapointed....Meals swimming in oil ......pilau rice hard in parts ....service rather disjointed ....feel very let down given previous good experiences and I had even recommended others should dine here.

Had a lovely meal there for my dad's 81st birthday, all the staff brought out the cake we'd bought and sang happy birthday to him. 😍 He was made up. Food was gorgeous, we all loved it.
