Wife & I both fancied a curry take away while visiting Kelso, phoned a local chinese to find out it was closed, so decided on a curry from this Indian with poppadum's, have to say it was delicious, not too hot but still spicy, will definitely be our go to next time we are in Kelso.

As a lover of Indian food we are widely travelled. For us the food was disappointing . Lemon rice was so bitter had lemon rind in not pleasant at all. I had chicken tikka dansak. Sauce was nice and spicy too but I can make tikka better than that. Hubbies lamb was really tough, told the very nice waiter who agreed the lamb was tough. Wouldn't go back.

Busy when we arrived, but managed to fit us in (table for 2). Good menu choice. Decent prices. Very tasty meal, good service. Def be back if in Kelso. Mirza staff member very good. Thank you

Just had a fantastic meal. Chicken Jalfrezi was as good as it gets as was the sagwala. Service top notch, a really nice young man who told it would be good and he was right. It's a byo but the Co-op is next door and a small corkage charge only. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely meal at the Sultans, totally agree the chef is excellent. Unfortunately we were disappointed to have had £11.80 added to our bill for providing us with 3 wine glasses. This is not mentioned on the menu anywhere. We were also fold the cash machine was down so we had to pay cash but had heard other people ask "do you prefer cash" answered YES. I pay my taxes and it annoys me when others don't think they apply to them. Left a sour taste and won't be going back.

Amazing food ! Could not fault a thing. Staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable when we asked for recommendations. You absolutely must visit if you love authentic Indian food.

Another fantastic meal here! It’s been ages since we’ve been but it’s still as good. The decor is still clean and tidy, and lots of seating well spaced. I chose to have the Naga chicken again. They get these chillies in al the time for a really authentic and flavoursome dish (as opposed to simply “hot”). Lots of meat in the dish. Went to mushroom rice this time and it was super - lots of shrooms which makes for a healthier dish rather than just carbs (at least I think so anyway). Service was great again and the waiter was really confident, attentive and pleasant despite appearing very young and new. Food was delivered quickly and piping hot. Still ace to have the Co-op next door to grab a BYOB. Think corkage was £2.95 so great value if you’re getting wine. We come here every time we visit Kelso and would always recommend it. And just to add that each time we come we never experience anything like the folks that leave 1-star reviews. Maybe they’re having a bad day. We love it here!

Is this a bad curry? No. Is this a 4.4 star curry? Also no. Perfectly edible and not unpleasant, enjoyed the mixed platter starter mostly although lamb possibly a bit dry, although menu should state what's on the platter. Mains were fine although chips were not good. Please be warned if you go you will probably be served by children as there were at least two working there which is bizarre and one almost certainly was not the usual age for working. Also it doesn't serve alcohol which does make sense when you consider the child labour.

Tremendous food that was really well cooked and tasty. The customer service was excellent, really can't recommend them highly enough.

We where staying local for a few days on our second visit to the lovely town of Kelso, and came upon this Indian, we where going to sit in but it does not have a licence, so only soft drinks so we opted for a takeaway, lovely decor and nice atmosphere in the wee restaurant, we opted for onion bhaji starter, king prawn poori and chicken chat, along with popadum and spicy onions, then a chicken tikka vindaloo, chicken tikka butter masala, plain rice and Nan, the starter was delicious. King prawn poori was spicy and delicious, no chicken chatt but a spicy chicken poori also, so presumed a mistake, it was also very tasty, the bhaji was ok, very greasy, 4 popadums instead of 2, small tubs of spicy onions which were also nice, the main courses next was a bit of a miss im afraid, the vindaloo was spicy and hot as you would expect but more potato in it than chicken? And the butter masala was more of a very mild korma, with shredded chicken in it, very disappointing, rice was nice and Nan breads where very doughy, total price was £52, not worth it I’m afraid.

Had a lovely meal delivered yesterday evening. Arrived on time and as hot as if we had been in the restaurant. We tend to order a wee collection of sides and a single portion of rice to fit our appetites and these portion sizes were perfect. We had Vegetable Rice, Saag Paneer, Bombay Aloo, Tarka Daal and a Peshwari Naan - all really flavoursome and well prepared and very reasonable in price. Would totally recommend.

Having found all the pubs booked in Kirk Yeltholm we decided to drive to Kelso to get an Indian Takeaway. Spotted this one put our order in waited half an hour then collected it. We all enjoyed our food and personally I must say that it was the best chicken vindaloo I’ve ever had. We will return

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. If not the best. Meal was delicious, our party of 4 all agreed. Staff were very friendly & genuine. They done sell alcohol, but you can take your own booze. A must when staying in Kelso 🥰

A nice little restaurant serving some lovely food. Although its not licensed you can BYOB like a lot of unlicensed restaurants. (Coop next door has a very acceptable range of beers and wines). The staff are very nice and when you engage with them they are very helpful in food choices. While the ambience is not chic it is welcoming and homely.

Food is just about acceptable though perhaps better described as poor. The waiter was rude and miserable. We were told when we sat down that the restaurant was unlicensed and we could only have soft drinks. We were not told that we could have gone to the off licence and brought in our own - that to my mind is dishonest. It is the only Indian restaurant I have ever been to (and I have been to 100’s) not to have table cloths. It looks like and has the ambience of a greasy spoon cafe. The floor needs scrubbing. The price was extortionate - about 25% more than much better restaurants.

We were looking for somewhere reasonable to eat on a short break to Kelso. We had stopped outside to read the menu and a very personable young man came outside to speak to us. We chose to go in and were very glad we did. We had a starter and main between us and they were very accommodating with this. Also made the Bombay Sweet curry (a kind we had never tried before) to our spice level. It came out bubbling hot and was delicious. Would highly recommend. The staff were friendly and chatty and it was all very clean and fresh inside.

Had two curry's tonight.. chicken tika and passanda.. both bland... 4 pieces of chicken is not a portion... maybe for a kid.. Extremely over priced and definitely did not deliver on authentic Indian food.. Gave a tip to the server .. no thank you or have a good evening.. just blank face.. very rude. think he was a mini manager or something. So bland food x Bad servicex And over priced x Must do better!

They sent an offer then said they didn’t . We had an e mail offering us a 10% discount of a takeaway if we ordered online . So we decided on the 12th of Jan take up that offer We paid £36 for some starters but then realised it was at full price . They gave us a collection time well it was stone cold rude response but a promise to come back to me. They haven’t . If you want a curry that’s edible do not good here . It’s March .

New Year’s Day, visiting the Border Town of Kelso. Found the vast majority of eateries closed. With some trepidation visited the Sultans. Found it to be light spacious warm and welcoming. A comprehensive menu with local organic vegetables used. Service was quick and the food fantastic! What a surprise! Keep it up, we will certainly return.

Ate here at Sultans 8/12/22 and really enjoyed the whole meal. Our mix starter was clearly freshly cooked [ not been anywhere near a microwave ] and generous. The two Chicken main courses were again prepared individually and tasted as the menu described on the menu. My Jeera Chicken was spiced up as requested and both were served piping hot with nice chappatis [ an extra thrown in foc ] . This is a genuinely good Indian restaurant that would give many a run for their money in West Yorkshire where we hail from. Would go out of our way to eat here again. And big bonus its BYOB with a very corkage charge which saves you loads on the bill.

Popped in on a cold Saturday evening after making a telephone booking. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. Decor is contemporary and the ambience just right. We had to bring our own wine as the restaurant is not licensed and they charged £2.95 a head for corkage, which I suppose is quite reasonable. Food orders taken quickly and we could see the meals being prepared in the kitchen behind our table. Starters and mains were delicious and full of flavour. The boss came and had a quick chat while we were paying our bill. £93 for 4 mains and one mixed starter was a little bit pricey taking into account we brought our own wine. Nevertheless, if we're in Kelso again, we'll certainly go back.
