This was actually our second choice of Italian restaurant in Notting Hill, our first choice was fully booked apart from the outside, and my partner didnt want to sit out, so I opened the trip advisor app and we had a look at what was nearby. This restaurant came up, and I am so glad it did. Its a great little place. Staff are very friendly, and were very patient when I took ages trying to choose what to eat! Fantastic pizza, lovely pasta. My starter of melanzane was exactly how I remembered it tasting in Tuscany. Very good value for money, for both of us with drinks, and 2 courses each, it was about £50. I was talking about trip advisor to the lady who served us, and she said it was funny as they hadn't known they were on trip advisor until fairly recently, so they were very pleased people had been saying nice things! They obviously had some regular characters who turned up over the course of the evening, which was nice to see, people obviously like to come back again and again!

My husband and I adore the family run Sugo and its traditional cucina Italiano dishes. We regularly eat here and recommend the roasted veg bruscetta for a shared starter. We usually share a vegetariano pizza and penne all' Arrabbiatta (the sauce is a delicious family recipe- which remains a secret no matter how hard one probes) The flavoursome food is complimented beautifully with a full bodied house vino rosso. We have also taken friends here with 'high standards' who loved it and return often like we do. What makes me a little sad is how crowded Pizza Express can sometimes appear in comparison to Sugo, however, this family make no real effort to advertise and appear content. We were recommended Sugo by a chance meeting with an amateur restaurant critic, otherwise who knows if we would have ventured in eventually, despite it being in our neighbourhood. The location is second to none, being opposite Notting Hill Tube Station. Sometimes we phone up in advance and pick up a pizza as it beats Metro Pizza, Dominoes and Mr Pumpkin pizza by miles. There are a few specialities even that we have not savoured and when Sugos' neighbour the Coronet cinema re-opens our Tuesday evening will be once again complete. It is ideal for a romantic date, with friends, couples and family.Margarete and Ergun Holland Road W14

We are frequent patrons of this restaurant, not only because it serves superb, decent, family cooked Italian food, but because they've got excellent customer service and you just want to go back for more. Went with a friend a couple of days ago and he felt compelled to leave a review (but he doesn't have Tripadvisor) so he requested me to write this comment for him - "Just back from having Dinner with my Daughter and her Boyfriend at Sugo in Notting Hill, Delicious Food at Very Reasonable price, I recommend this Restaurant to any Food Lovers."Sum's it up really!

I come from an Italian Heritage and we frequent this restaurant regularly. We always order the carbonara and Bolognese pasta and it never fails to keep us satisfied. The food quality is always consistent and we always leave the restaurant fulfilled. I've tried their pizza too and it's not too bad. I like their deserts also. Waitress is always friendly and nice, and we sometimes see the Owners of the restaurant there. Friendly guy. We always recommend this restaurant to our friends who want to try authentic no frills Italian food in London. They also have Sunday roast which is a nice touch to a traditional Italian restaurant. The price of the food is reasonable and portions are generally quite large.

I've been to Sugo in Notting Hill a few times now and have always enjoyed an excellent meal. This is simple, straightforward Italian cooking that makes the most of fresh, good quality ingredients. Pizzas and pasta dishes are excellent - especially the seafood pastas. A two-course dinner with a bottle of wine (the house wines are lovely) plus service can be enjoyed for under £50. This is good value - especially for this part of London. Service is friendly without being intrusive. I'll be going again.

Very good and reasonable too, for London of course. We were walking back to out hotel, pulled out Trip Advisor, and discovered this gem along the sidewalk. Two people for pizza, spaghetti, salad and wine for 55 GBP. They had a red from Montepulciano by the glass. A really good choice and reasonable for a FULL glass. Pizza was excellent. Spaghetti was home made pasta and meatballs the same. All very good with a fresh garden salad. It was a little warm in the restaurant and the allow smoking at the two tables outside. Otherwise, a great find!

Sugo's opened in London's kitschy Camden Town in September 2013 and already is filling its tables with happy customers. The food is delicious and fresh and the atmosphere is cozy and warm. Candles light the tables and notice the custom copper lighting that the family designed especially for Sugo's. Everything served here comes with love and family. This Pratt Street gem in Camden Town is waiting to be discovered. We found it the first week it opened and have brought all of our expats to enjoy this tiny treasure.

If you looking for a place in London where you can easily choose anything from the menu and be sure it will be great you should visit Sugo restaurant at Nothing Hill. Small, cosy Italian family run restaurant is my London base every time I visit London (last ten years I'm at least once per year, so for sure I checked their menu many times). You can choose from home made pasta, delicious tin (real Italian style) pizza or fish and meat you won't make mistake. My personal advise: be sure you try simple but great pizza bread & salad, any meal with mushrooms is on the top of my list and if you still have some extra space for desert (cause portions are really proper one for really good/reasonable price) try lemon sorbet or hot chocolate cake. I really love this place, hope you'll like it too.

I've been going to Sugo for almost 20 years, and even though they've changed locations from South Kensington to Notting Hill, the traditional Italian cooking, atmosphere and attitude have stayed true throughout. The stone-baked flat garlic bread drizzled with olive oil and oregano has been the source of many a family squabble as we all fight over the last piece to mop up the selection of cured meats and antipasti. The pizzas are traditionally Roman, very thin with a generous slathering of toppings but a perfectly crisp crust, and the pastas are authentically al dente and absolutely delicious. The desserts are are also to die for- all homemade by the owner on site, so whether you want a rich, melt in the middle chocolate fondant with creamy ice cream, or a fresh and fruity Italian sorbet, there is something on offer for everyone. My personal favourites are the chocolate profiteroles and tiramisu although they tend to run out fast! If you're looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy the vintage hanging artworks, chat with friends over good wine and fill up on good home-cooked food, in an unpretentious atmosphere, then Sugo is the one for you. Very reasonably priced too.

I've been to this charming small restaurant with my 12 year old daughter after couple of hours at Portobello Market. We were looking to have lunch, but not standing up as you can get at Portobello Market. From the Market, we went back to the main road (Notting Hill Gate) and turned right. The restaurant was on the left hand side after less than 5 minute walk.We spotted it by walk by, looked at the menu and decided to walk in and give it a try.We had Pizza & Pasta and it was excellent! Pizza was thin and very tasty. Pasta (Penne) was excellent and my daughter loved it.Service was great and the waitress was smiling and very nice. Even though it was lunch time, it was not crowded. If you are visiting this area, especially Portobello Market, it might be a great place for you to sit, relax, enjoy good Italian food and for a very decent price too.

My son is 9 and has been going to Sugo nearly every week for his whole life! The lovely waitresses have followed his progress in everything but his choice of dish - penne pommodoro every time since he could manage solids. The pasta is perfectly cooked - I have never tasted such perfectly al dente dishes. We are creatures of habit it is true but there are many reasons to visit - the food, the relaxed welcoming atmosphere, the fact that it is not fussy or a chain and the lovely waitresses. A good recipe for enduring success.

Sugo has no pretensions to being anything other than a local trattoria. There is nothing cutting edge or fashionable about it, which is a bit of relief in this part of town. We arrived quite late, at about 10 pm. Many places won’t serve you at that hour. The food is commonplace Italian, but well enough done. Visiting Italians write it up reasonably well, even if they comment pointedly on it being run by Romans. Seafood spaghetti al cartoccio arrived in aluminium foil rather than parchment so didn’t look very pretty, but it contained a generous selection of mixed seafood. Spaghetti alle vongole had a lot of clams for the money. The other pasta dishes were unexceptionable and the bill was lower than many places in Notting Hill Gate. If they made just a bit more effort it would be a winner.

Grazie Jacquie.

Joined a group of 12 people for a birthday dinner at this unassuming little Italian. The birthday girl had already told us that it was somewhere that most people wouldn't look at twice but we were really happy to be let into the secret. First thing is that it was a relief to be in an Italian place that isn't part of a mammoth chain (aka Jamie's Italian dominating the corner facing Sugo). Starters all standard stuff but fresh and well presented, rocket and parmesan salad, tomato and mozzarella and some good veggie bruschettas. I had a delicious spaghetti vongole which included lots of shellfish -- so no skimping on ingredients. We had a birthday cake to share so didn't have any of the puddings but they looked a little underwhelming considering how good the earlier courses were. Staff were friendly and very efficient, house wine was inexpensive and very drinkable. A good local place which I will visit again.

We ate lunch at Sugo by chance. Shopping around Kensington High Street we saw lots of trendy restaurants but opted for what looked like a typical Italian restaurant and we weren't disappointed. My husband chose the gnocchi from the special's board and it was fantastic. I had spaghetti carbonara and, other than the fact that it was far too large a portion, it tasted great too. Looks like the restaurant has moved since the last review. After getting the boot from two nearby pubs (i.e., not before 7 pm with children under age), the family was desperate to eat something and we were under a time constraint. While the food can't be compared to real Italian (we had just spent 10 days in Italy), it was way beyond my expectations for Italian in the UK. Good basic pizza, pasta and a grilled chicken all for reasonable prices. I think the waitresses could drop the model working as waitress thing and dress more "normal" but the service was on time which is more than I could say for most of the real Italian places we ate at.

Locale accogliente, in chiaro stile italiano.
