La Trattoria by Alfredo Russo in Kensington and Chelsea

Had a lovely dinner at this restaurant. The atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming. We were served by a gentleman named Ondrej. He was very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing and very great price for such a wonderful quality of food. Definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

Es un lugar un poco extraño, este, un sótano en el Hotel Pelham en South Kensington’s Cromwell Place cuya entrada principal está por unos escalones de metal de la calle. De lo contrario, uno se pierde ligeramente buscando la escalera entre un laberinto de habitaciones muy amuebladas alrededor del vestíbulo del hotel de arriba. Tanto fuera como dentro del restaurante en sí hay una serie de dibujos y pinturas de damas que se entregan a actividades prandiales mientras revelan bastante escote. La comida que se ofrece aquí, incluyendo una mezcla y combinación de pastas y salsas, es decididamente menos picante. Después de un poco de pan de cortesía, un entrante compartido de antipasti presentaba tanta vegetación como queso y jamón. Mi esposa quedó impresionada por su ensalada de salmón. La mejilla de buey en puré que pedí tenía algunos pedazos enormes de carne de res ligeramente sobrecocida en una cama de puré con algunas verduras de raíz en la parte superior en una salsa espesa. La lasaña de mi hija parecía la k cualquier ragu boloñés. Fue una buena relación calidad-precio, pero solo con un 50% de descuento cortesía de The Fork. La clientela parecía ser una mezcla de huéspedes del hotel, turistas y familias con niños pequeños golpeando mesas y corriendo como en un parque infantil.

When you leave the national history museum it is the place to have lunch. Delicious, enjoyable and very good service. The exquisite lasagna.

Highly recommend! The food was fantastic, and the service was exceptional. Ondrej was outstanding—very knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through the menu. We really appreciated it! The focaccia calabrese was delicious, and there’s a great selection of wines. Would definitely come back!

We spent a pleasant evening in the restaurant - cozy environment, good music and excellent food. Wonderful experience!!! Finally the flavors of home! A lust for the palate. Very welcoming staff and cozy and typically "at home" environment. El maître d'hôtel me hizo prometer solo escribir una crítica honesta. Así que aquí está: nuestra experiencia fue como un chef estrella Michelin te invitó a cenar. Comida y hospitalidad sin igual! La atención al detalle incluyó la preparación de alimentos, la selección de ingredientes y las preferencias del huésped. Recomiendo encarecidamente los ñoquis, que mi esposa y yo comimos como parte de sus especiales del ‘primer y tercer jueves’. El tiramisú también era exquisito y muy por encima de lo que esperábamos. Ojalá viviera más cerca, pero solo estuve en Londres esta semana. De lo contrario, estaría aquí al menos una vez a la semana. Si te alojas cerca de Kensington / Knightsbridge o estás dispuesto a viajar unas paradas en el metro, sé que no te decepcionará.

Piacevole scoperta! All uscita del museo cercavamo un ristorante in zona e abbiamo trovato La trattoria! Da italiani possiamo dire di aver mangiato veramente bene, non abbiamo preso primi piatti ma Carpaccio di carne, galletto, pinsa con rosmarino e verdure! Tutto squisito! Un po’ nascosto ma merita una visita!

I stayed at the Pelham and decided to try La Trattoria on a very rainy day when I didn’t feel like going outside. I ordered the cod croquettes and house made lasagna- all fantastic. Very warm and cozy with kind service. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re in South Kensington or London.

Sehr schönes, geschmackvoll eingerichtetes Restaurant in South Kensington. In den im unteren Stock gelegenen Teil gelangt über für London typische Treppe. Das Restaurant erinnert mich an traditionelle Restaurants in Italien und bietet sofort Gemütlichkeit. Das Essen kann ich absolut empfehlen, ich hatte den Salat Verde und als Hauptspeise die Tagliata, dazu einen guten Rotwein. In dieses Restaurant werde ich bei meiner nächsten London-Reise wieder gehen.

I just randomly get in because the atmosphere looked nice from outside, and it was perfect idea! Food was perfect even better than I had in Italy for some perspective 🤐 The atmosphere was chilling and elegant with some drawings and interior. The most nice thing was the service 👍 I went alone but they didn’t give a pressure for anything and helped me to have a nice time there ❤️ Strongly recommend Bread+balsamic&rigatonipasta 🍝

This small Italian restaurant in Chelsea is a true find! The food is fresh and full of flavor, from the tasty pasta to the perfect pizzas. Everything is homemade and feels like real Italian cooking. There were four of us who sat down to a lovely dinner. We were looking for an Italian restaurant and stumbled upon La Trattoria. We were treated to a leisurely meal that exceeded our expectations. We started with the insalate contadina and the insalate verde. Both salads were very good, the dressing excellent. The fresh baked bread was very good, too, as we dipped the pieces into a Modena balsamic vinegar and oil. For entrees, two of us had the penne pomodoro which was excellent. The pasta was cooked perfectly. The other entrees we tasted were the Lasagna al Forno and the Papardelle allo Scoglio. Again, both were excellent, the pasta cooked perfectly. The desserts were ok, nothing special. The tiramisu lacked some flavor as did the sorbet. The service by our server Ondrej was very good. We were not used to the presentation of having the pasta and sauce put in a mason jar and then shaken at the table, but the result was very tasty. Our bottle of chiati, though tight at first, opened up and paired well with the food. I definitely recommend La Trattoria for a very good Italian meal.

We found out with The Fork's app. It is hidden, next to the subway that leads to the Museum of Natural History, and to get there you have to go down some stairs. Very nice decoration and atmosphere, very attentive staff and very good food. The way of serving the pasta is very original... Totally recommended!

Wow, what service… Ondrej serves up a fab negroni with a strawberry twist, very welcoming and made us feel very special & relaxed in our very own private lounge with complimentary snacks. We were showing our Dutch / Singaporean guests a bit of london and this experience delivered a first class experience 🙏

Was part of an amazing evening where Maria Elena Infantino entertained us with her beautiful voice and we met the famous Alfredo Russo who heads this restaurant.This helped me to discover this restaurant. Wow. An absolutely wonderful hidden gem. Hard-core, old school, fine dining Italian restaurant, just a quick walk from the museums. We went as a family of 5, everyone loved every single dish. Would not take younger children there, but I highly recommend this restaurant for adults and fine diners. We got superb service from Dominic, our waiter. A wonderful Italian restaurant adjacent to the museums. Less suitable for small children, but two girls in Galai 9-12 and all the adults really liked all the dishes. We received excellent and professional service from Dominic, our waiter. A small and intimate place, it is important to book in advance if possible.

We came for the Il Mercato offer of £25 for three courses every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. We were walking in the area and saw the offer on the sign outside. The food was wonderful. There was a fill plate of charcuterie and cheese with freshly baked focaccia. Followed by a wonderful risotto and finally I chose the chicken option with was wonderfully seasoned. It’s tucked away and I would recommend scoping it out and trying the tasty Italian food.

Me and my friend visited yesterday this amazing restaurant, we were starving and wanted to eat something Italian. We've found the place by pure luck, we walked by, when my friend spotted the menu, outside. It was love at first sight, the place interior, the furniture and atmosphere was authentic Italian. The manager was , extremely polite, well spoken , and elegant. Our waiter, Ondrej , was a very pleasant , cheerful and wonderful guy ! The whole staff hospitality was outstanding. My friend ordered, handmade linguine with black winter truffle, myself ordered Paccheri, With concasse tomatoes, mushrooms, nduja, parsley and butter. The food was incredibly delicious , the place a gastronomical heaven, and the prices VERY affordable! Highly recommended ! 5 stars all the way

Very good service and exceeded tje expectation for this price-point.

The customer service was very good and kind, and I had a very enjoyable meal. I ordered Guancia Brasata, and it was soft enough to swallow without chewing, and the taste was not too strong and had just the right texture. The atmosphere of the shop was nice, but the pictures on display were, in my opinion, not very appealing. However, it's a very good shop, so I'd like you to go there if you have time!

We had a wonderful evening with absolutely delicious food and wine. Ondrej was kind, courteous, attentive and very entertaining which really made our meal. The truffle pasta was exceptional! Would highly recommend!

Great! Extremely polite staff and sophisticated atmosphere. Everything arrived quickly. We ate the Menu for lunch with one dish and one dessert (petit gatteau with pistachio which, by the way, was divine) for just $16. But be careful with drinks because that's where they win.

Fantastic italian food. Very strange why they only have 4.1 on Google. Very fair prove for the quality and atmosphere. In a city where you barely find quality food for a decent price, this place is outstanding.

We went for lunch on a Sunday and were the only clients, which meant we had the waiter's undivided attention - this was great. His service was excellent though, very friendly, smiley and used his French to explain the dishes to my mum. Great Italian food as well, highly recommend!

Terrible food at a high price. Worst Italian I've eaten at in a long time. Can't remember the last time I literally couldn't finish my main... Agree with the earlier reviews, it's a total tourist trap, best avoided!

Good food, good atmosphere, great service While we were there they had some paintings on the wall that were good. Slightly expensive, when we asked for water the waitress gave us a bottle and maybe would have charged us if we wouldnt ask him to give us tap water

Wonderful tiramisu, but all the other food we had was pretty unexceptional. It’s odd that an Italian restaurant doesn’t do pasta as a starter. The service and setting were both fabulous, though.

Fantastica scoperta di questa Trattoria italiana a Londra: materie prime freschissime e di ottima qualità. Menù adattato ai palati londinesi, ma senza stravolgerne l'originalità italiana. Piatti raccomandati: gli agnolotti al sugo d'arrosto (fatti freschi tutti i giorni), pasta pesto e ricotta... Di ristorante italiano probabilmente ha solo la gentilissima cameriera (unico motivo per metto due stelle e non zero). Il ragazzo che gestiva la sala che ci ha fatto arrivare al tavolo prima il secondo e immediatamente dopo la pasta che, ovviamente, per evitare di mangiare la carne fredda, era diventata tiepida. La cena già di per se non era sufficiente, ma è sicuramente insufficiente se confrontata con il conto.

La trattoria by Alfredo Russo really authentic taste !!

Lovely restaurant, food simple but very tasty.

Hidden below street level, this restaurant is as one keen reviewer eloquently put it 'a tourist trap' for nearby visitors to the museums of South Kensington. In essence it hosts an expensive menu with average tasting food. I'm sure they're only surviving because of a guaranteed minimum level of customers who'll unwittingly stroll in without heeding the warnings of these reviews. In the restaurant's defence, the decor is homely and the service from staff is very attentive indeed - I was asked by two separate staff during my meal whether everything was okay which felt a bit parental but mostly non-threatening all the same. I'd gone for the margherita pizza which at £7 seemed like a bargain. You could easily get full on this, despite tasting rather bland. However, I was feeling somewhat adventurous and decided to add pickled artichokes (nope, not fresh) and mushrooms as toppings for £1.50 extra each. Thinking this wouldn't be enough, I included a side of spinach into the mix for £5: what I was served with was a small bowl of half boiled baby spinach leaves - really should've been another pizza topping as that's what it turned into. Overall, disappointingly average, and they'll include a service charge because they expect you to be one of many money-donning tourists sprinkling cash in the already hideously wealthy area. Try your appetite-resolving luck elsewhere.

Decent food for a decent price in an area where that's tough to find

Very poor quality food also expensive ! Serving salad with no dressing at all and according to waiter this is normal. Very disappointing.

Not good I'm afraid. Seems to be a tourist trap as so close to museums. Food is bizarrely portioned (some mains were decently sized and some absolutely tiny). Starters looked really unappetising. Fish was served within a huge mass of tin foil which you were expected to eat out of. Not good for vegetarians. We were told that on an already very limited menu, none of the pizzas were available, with no explanation given. A 'selection' of gelato turned out to be three scoops of vanilla ice-cream. The staff were friendly. One good thing was that one of our group (who was vegetarian and wasn't in the mood for risotto) asked for a penne all'Arrabbiata which the chef was able to do. Overall, very average sadly.

I must inform that my parents and I have just left this “restaurant”. An undercooked industrial flavourless bread was the start of an over-expensive unworthy meal. After a slightly more than a 1h-wait with the air con at full blast, prepared to induces us hypothermia, the dishes were served. The tagliatelle with Bolognese could be described as ordinary as a compliment. The chef must have never enjoyed a ceaser salad because they served it with a mustard/mayonnaise sauce. Even Tesco understands what a ceaser salad sauce is. Finally, an unremarkable risotto and a small-palm-size “main” parmigiana. When the “starter” tagliatelle is 3 times larger than the “main” parmigiana, there is clearly something wrong going on. We will not step a foot inside again.

Ordered a chicken Cesar salad. The chicken was undercooked and still had the skin on it, the breadcrumbs were inexistent, sauce was bland and no parmesan. Salad was also cut in very large pieces. We mentioned this, but the 12.5% service charge was still added. Drinks are also very expensive, and staff unwelcoming. Please avoid.

We orderd Lamb and risotto. The lamb was 90 percent fat. And the risotto was like oatmeal. I do not think the chef has ever even tasted Italian food. We Will not be coming back.

It is a lovely restaurant just in front of south ken station. Kitchen is very good with a tasty menu. I tried afternoon tea too

Went for brunch after a visit to the science museum. Had starters which were very nice, service from the staff was very courtious and food was all brought in time. The club sandwich was the best I have ever tasted and the lovely cheese cake desert. Overall the location and service were excellent, Will definitely revist when I return to London.

Went for Afternoon Tea at the weekend - lovely calm atmosphere, very delicious food, extensive tea options. Exactly what I was after. Probably not the right place if you want an over the top Ritz experience!
