We came in for our tea and the food we took home was absolutely terrible. We spent over £20 what went straight in the bin the fish tasted off the scampi was cooked in dirty oil. The chips was absolutely terrible mushy peas but like there was gonna make us glow up in the dark first time at this chippy last time.

Just been to collect fish and chips and first time trying sue downs. Absolutely amazing and the homemade tartare sauce is a lovely extra added touch. Highly recommend and cannot wait to return!

An excellent quality fish and chips shop. Very clean, good quality fish always nicely cooked. The staff are very friendly they also sell their own traditional Hull patties, fish cakes, and sausage. The spam fritters are excellent. There is some outside seating.

The manager at the Hedon shop needs sacking for breaking the law as to be in compliance with the Equality Act 2010 he should NOT refuse access to a Guide Dog user. Does he realise he could be fined and possibly imprisoned for breaking the law in this way. Discrimination against people with disabilities that use Guide Dogs or other forms of Assistance Dogs must stop, it's 2024 not 1924!!!!

First and last time trying this place ordered haddock and chips special absolutely disgusting the grease on the chips tasted about a week old, The fish was more batter than fish and the elderly lady that served me was just dam right rude.

great food, real haddock, live in Hull so I know fish. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Sorry about questioning the bill, you were right of course and I was having a senior moment. Once again my apologies!

Lovely plaice and mushy peas 2 large battered sausage nice so was the chips but for 2.50 I would AVE.expected few more

I have been using Sue downs for many years, it has been fabulous in the past but recently it's gone down hill. Tonight's order was messed up and wrong food delivered. It was dry and tasted like it had been fried in old oil. Can't fault the friendly chap who delivered my order though he was the only highlight.

Just walked out of Sutton shop empty handed for the 3rd time on the bounce due to pig ignorant staff who aren’t interested in my order and queue jumpers.. Never again will I waste my time here.

Ordered a kids chicken nugget meal and recieved only TWO chicken nuggets, absolutely disgusting for the price of it. Rang up and the woman didnt even seem bothered about it. Menu online isnt even correct, only sell half the stuff on the menu. Specifically asked for fish scallops, as it said they do them on the menu then got told they dont do them! My nephews now only limited to two chicken nuggets as that is all he’ll eat. Started off with quite a few chicken nuggets now only recieve. Either need to put the price down or put more food in the boxes.

Just bought a large fish, pattie, chips and sausage, if that was a LARGE FISH I'll never go again it was all batter and NO FISH really, really disappointed, and all squashed in a small box

Just got 2 LARGE fish ( seen bigger specials) 1 bag chips , 2 peas £16 awful !!!!

Lovely chippy, great food, just no sort of service, no queueing system, everyone pushes in, and the staff just serve whoever pushes in.

2 burnt sausages a pot of gravy and a few chips £9.80 feel robbed and it's cold

Really enjoyed the fish chips and peas, it's our mam and dads favourite, my dad used to get squid but now gets fish because he said it was lovely. They go every sat night.

Tastes great but when u order a large fish and chips then open the box and its the size of a battered goldfish its dissapointing! Especially with the price they charge!! Id love to see there small fish size😳

So dissapointing, asked and paid for a Large Fish and Chips. My parents get a larger fish with their Pensioners special ( small fish and Chips) at other outlets. Wont be returning..

Expensive for what you get. Not bad just nothing special. Needs a better curry sauce and Pattie needs cooking longer.

Been a number of years since I've visited the ings chippy, was okay last time, So I was here, with my work mates in the area, and decided on a lunch time fish and chip dinner. Was no one in the chippy at the time, after ordering, they gave us fish, that obviously had been cooked sat. Not always a bad thing, as fish can be greasy if given to you straight out the fryer. Unfortunately, we weren't overly impressed with the chips, cold coming warm, dry. Large fish, was okay, eating wise, but rather small, still think I'd been given a medium going on small. The hull patty was good though, if it was out of ten, it would be a five and half for what we were presented

Been good every time. The fish is fresh, white and chunky with crisp golden batter. The peas, chips and gravy are great too. They even do home made tartare sauce. The staff are always friendly, polite and on the ball. I only wish you could get proper vinegar instead of the watery substitute that everywhere seems to be doing these days, I have to bring my own if I’m out!

This chip shop is sadly hit and miss. It’s either the best fish and chips ever or it’s just fit for the bin. When it’s the best the fish is beautiful and the chips are golden and soft. When is bad it’s bad the fish dry not to mention a large looking like it’s a extra extra small, the chips brown and hard. Often they miss items off and you get home and discover a curry sauce or mushy peas missing. How I wish they could just be consistent

Its about the 5th time I have ordered from here and something has been left. I always get the same story when I ring them "we will add it to your next order" they won't be another order your food is ok but you never deliver what I ask for.

Always the best chippy. Stumbled on it by accident and haven't looked back! Lovely staff, always clean inside and the food is really quality. The prices are really good too.

Best fish and chip shop by miles

Jumbo Haddock (which is on the menu) hasn't existed for about a year. The large is far from large. The food itself isnt too bad but the sizes of the fish are completely wrong. Wont go again, shame as the food isnt bad, just expensive for a large which isnt large.

We decided to have fish and chips tonight for a change and so glad we did, best haddock chips and mushy peas that we have had for years. We will definitely be back.

I usually have the skate which is fabulous. My husband has a large haddock. Chips and mushy peas are spot on. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

Have used this shop many times over the years but lately it seems to have gone down hill. Had fish and chips two weeks ago, hardly any fish just thick batter which gave me terrible indigestion. sorry but won't be back again.

Just had fish n chips delivered . And thay ware very nice will be ordering again .

The batter on the fish was hard like it had been left in the fryer to long, The gravy was a bit lumpy and the sausage which I had asked to be battered but which wasn't was awful as was fatty all the way through.

Just had fish chips and musht peas. You know when you fancy something real nice?? Tonight they hit the spot!! Yummy!! Is all I can say. Thanks girls 👍

They supply my tea most nights with me being a single man and I have not been dissapointed upto now always fresh and hot like one of the servers ?

Went in to get a chip buttie, stood in the queue for 2 mins. A lady walked in, obviously a friend of the staff, the staff ignored the queue and served her. Will never use Sue Downs again.

This shop serves very nice fish and chips, the fish is always skinned and in light batter. Served in a box. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Would recommend.

Good fish and chip shop gravy is nice

Maybe, I will try to be charitable, if I had gone at peak times the food would have been hot and crisp but I called on my way home at 8 pm and what I took home was neither hot or crisp. It had that warmed up feel and taste which is the worse thing a fried dinner can have. They were indeed wiping down and should have refused to serve me. Will never go there again which is a pity as it is probably the cosest chippy to my home.
