We had planned to go upstairs to the Lexington but it was closed for a function so we had a drink in the bar instead and weren't disappointed. They have a really good cocktail menu.

The food is ok, not amazing, It's concerning that a steakhouse doesn't know how to get the temperature of steak right. A medium rare arrived well done. The service is generally poor and the staff don't seem to be trained. I don't think Marco Pierre White would be happy his name is attached to this standard of restuarant.

Whilst staying at the Doubletree Hilton, Hull, decided to eat in-house for a change. Not cheap, but the food quality was excellent. I ordered a 12oz fillet steak rare. What did I get? A 12oz fillet steak rare. I was delighted. It came with some huge chips and I ordered a side of creamy cabbage and bacon which complemented the steak beautifully. My other half had the Grilled Sea Bass dish with minted new potatoes, peas. She was also delighted with her choice. In short, both meals we excellent. Will dine here on our next visit without doubt.

Got the larger steak and chips and looks very nice and presentable but but chewy even though I got it medium and the chips were not bad but not very good either, didn’t feel welcome by waitress big letdown

Average prawn cocktail starter. Lamb wasn’t pink, it was raw. Waiter got it changed but it was tough. There was nobody in the restaurant so we we should have gone elsewhere as it’s not a good sign. I had an upset stomach the next day. Won’t ever go back.

Lots of ambience on arrival. Did I require any bread or olives for the table? Of course not. Having scanned the QR code offered by my waiter I chose the set menu (as I always do on business trips). Despite the fact that the website clearly said this was available, the waiter then told me quite brusquely that it wasn't and that I had to go a la carte. I got up and left. I then found that the food was also avaiable from the adjacent bar. Cooked in the same kitchen. The fish and chips were £16 at the bar, £21.50 in the restaurant. Served on different plates and no tablecloth mudhy peas instead of marrowfat, but otherwise the same. So I ate at the bar. Fish was lovely. Chips were chunky and well cooked. Mushy peas were terrible but I suspect the marrowfat might not have been any better. Not recommended overall. Overpriced and style over substance.

Was looking forward to this as a celebratory anniversary meal. Food is really nice but atmosphere is non existent. Restaurant is in quite a large space and there is no background music or anything. (This was a Saturday night) The staff are lovely it just doesn’t feel ‘special’ just feels like going out for ‘tea’

Only knocked one star off as on our visit our table service was slow although without us mentioning it, the staff offered 50% off our deserts. Great food & surroundings perfectly situated before we went onto the Truck Theatre. Will definitely eat there again

According the hotel's welcome letter the restaurant is supposed to be open until 2200. 2105 it was not anymore possibel to order food. I was offered to order food from the bar menue instead. Despite three waiters and not many guest nobody paid attention to take my order. Seldom I have experienced such non existing service.

The food was AMAZING me and my boyfriend both loved it all, prices was reasonable especially for what we got! All the staff were amazing, very polite and the service was very quick, we had a 5 course and as soon as we’d finished one they were out with another, drinks were all lovely too definitely recommend 😍

Celebrated our Sons 21st here which was absolutely fantastic!! Gorgeous food, excellent service, lovely venue and atmosphere. Staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to go back!

Food and drinks all reasonably good but our experience would have been much improved if we had all been given time to finish our starters before main courses were delivered. It was a birthday dinner for an older person who eats more slowly than average however not unreasonably so. The waitresses looked very embarrassed and apologised that the chef had "sped things up" - why? Weird atmosphere, they haven't managed to disguise the fact it's a glorified hotel lobby. Also, if you put mirrors on a wall, clean them occasionally. They look grim! Really not as good as it thinks it is.

The apatizers were quite good! The french onion soup had great flavour. However, the main was quite dissapointing. The steak was not good quality. It was cooked medium rare and yet it was very tough. The shrimp on the steak tasted off and could not have been fresh. The entire thing was swimming in butter and not edible. I ordered a side of spinach to balance the protein with some vegetables and to my surprise that was also swimming in butter which was unfortunate. The chips that the meal came with were also very odd in texture. Perhaps cooked from frozen? I paid for my meal, however, I was dissapointed that I wasnt offered an alternative or some sort of discount given that I could not eat more than a few bites of the meal and mentioned the same thing noted here to my server. I am hoping it was just a bad day for the chef but if that's the regular quality that's put out then I'm sorry but it is very over priced comparatively with other restaurants. It was not a meal worthy of about £80.

Absolutely amazing food. I was served by a new member of staff named Anna. Only been in post for week or two. She made the whole dining experience pleasent. Being on business and sitting on your own can sometimes be a bit dull. She was friendly, helpful, full of smiles and nothing was an issue. She is a diamond and asset to the team. There a few people with such great work ethic as Anna’s. I wish I had such an enthusiastic enigmatic individual working for me. Marco Pierre White = look after this one….

Massive disappointment. I had a crab hummus starter which was so runny, almost soup like. And no spoon to eat it with. You can imagine how unsuccessful that was. Main course was lamb which was very gristly, so tough and chewy it was largely inedible. They gave me a steak knife and even with that it was difficult to cut. The lamb was covered in parsley (which I hate) and wouldn’t have ordered if I’d known. And a very sweet sickly sauce. The service was very slow. There were 2 young ladies who were very polite and obviously doing their best, so I don’t blame them. Just needed more staff. And it was expensive for what you got. They charged extra for everything: a splash of soda, a tiny pot of sauce for my friend’s steak (which it was advertised as having on the menu), and a compulsory service charge despite the poor slow service. The restaurant area was a tad mondane but the service and food was certainly first class could not fault went above expectations and nothing was too much trouble for my daughters birthday.

We bought a Sunday lunch voucher online, so we reserved a table for Sunday, but when we got there we were told they don't do Sunday lunch any more! Initially they just wanted to give us the value of the voucher off the main menu rather than a starter, main and dessert as the voucher stated. After some persuasion they gave us a free starter and free wine so it worked out about the same price in the end, but it was all very odd and a strange experience. Food was great though and we were the only ones in the restaurant.

I had booked the Hilton Hotel for our anniversary meal, thinking the steak restaurant would be a nice treat with the reputation of M.P.White. We were seated quite quickly on arrival but was asked to order straight away which was unusual, we asked for some water for the table while we were pursuing the choices, the waitress came back asking if we would like something to drink which was not required as we still had not received our water. We placed the order and waited for the drinks to arrive. The food arrived in good time ( fillet steak & lamb dish, with some sides ) I realised soon after the food arrived that I was missing one of my sides, when questioned they brought what I had ordered my wife had ordered the signature steak with garlic butter but was served the standard steak, we didn't want to make a fuss and change. The food was good overall, but on receiving my receipt, I could see I was charged for another starter even though I only had one. I informed the waitress to remove it from the bill. Overall, the meal was good, but the overall experience wasn't meeting our expectations.

Worst meal ever ! I honestly wish that I had taken photos ! Waitress asked if we would like to pay half way through the meal & when we was awaiting another course , she was at the table constantly , she must have honestly known when it was the the next course , but no she did not even register , she must be new to this kind of business & not trained ! I ordered cheese and biscuits for sweet and this was terrible , never in my life have I ever had a sweet like this one ever , 6 thinnest of crackers and see through blue cheese ( 2 slices ) that thin you couldn’t taste it & to top it off a great big stone out of the chutney ! Awful ! Get a grip Marco Pierre White & get a decent chef at least ! What a shame should have had a lovely meal for 4 , with 2 very special friends & it was the worst ever meal !

I've been here before several times in the past. The food has always been amazing. The service has always been brilliant. I am afraid to say that MPW Hull has lost its sparkle. Reception staff no great warm welcome, more surley and robotic. We ordered drinks in the bar and were shown to a lovely table. The waiter that took our order was patient and friendly. My starter came out first. My partners came out 45m later. The manager was apologetic, and we didn't pay for it, but I still had to chase it up again after waiting a further 15 minutes. The main course was ok. Food is not piping hot. After we finished our main meal, the table wasn't cleared for a further 30 minutes and then not completely. MPW always had that certain something staff were always on pont. Food was always amazing, and it's lots. it's fabulous. Sorry, but I won't be returning anytime soon, underwhelming for such a lovely setting.

Myself & my daughter in law came for afternoon tea. We were told afternoon teas were held in the Lexington bar or out terrace this day which was a lovely idea because it was so warm. We were greeted warmly by Tomai explained we could sit inside or outside which we choose. We had the prosecco afternoon tea which was absolutely beautiful so fresh and gorgeous scones & clotted cream , macaroons and 3 different types of cake each , we upgraded and added a chilled glass of prosecco each. Our host was a lovely lady called Tomai . Perfect service very efficient .and a lovely smile. Thank you for a lovely afternoon x

It's a fantastic restaurant and the food and service were great. The atmosphere is 4 stars solely because, as it's in a hotel, you're sharing it with the hotel guests who are just in the bar area in shorts and t-shirt etc...

Enjoyable lunch. Lounge menu varied and affordable. The crab cakes and hoisin duck rolls were tasty. Environment attractive and glamorous. However there appeared to be a series of interviews happening with people coming and going which was quite distracting and I have to say unexpected.

Food was lovely and very tasty. The service was excellent but the food did seem slow to come out of the kitchen (45mins to receive starters) especially as there were only 5 tables occupied. We weren't in a hurry so didn't matter to us.

I visited last Sunday 16 April and its Sunday roast dinner. Really enjoyed inside because i am only in restaurant . Amazing mixed of meat roast,veggies and all sides on point. Prawn cocktail was pretty good . Ishwor who is in restaurant gives me warm welcome , make me comfortable at restaurant.He is polite with nice gesture ,who look after me at bar as well. Service was attentive and thank you for recommend good red wine. I had a lovely time . Amazing experience, would recommend!

Epic fail on many accounts, we had been waiting ages for the food to be served and we were assured by the staff that it would be a few minutes, which it wasn't. When it did finally arrived, they brought the wrong food. We asked for the steaks to be medium rare and they came well done, grey all the way through. The meal was for our anniversary and we expected a premium dining experience given the prices and portion size, this was most certainly not the case. After two paltry offers of compensation, i.e. a glass of cheap wine or a desert, I complained to the manager who took the wine off the bill. I'm sure Marco Pierre White would have thrown a hissy fit had he seen how his restaurant had performed!

First visit for Sunday Lunch at MPW and will be back again soon. Food took a little while to arrive between courses but was very good and the service was excellent. Thank you to Sara at the bar Amaje and Lucky who made us very welcome and comfortable with the menu options. Thank you

Went for a meal there , £120 didn't even take our jackets off and asked what drinks and starters we wanted , unreal !!!! , 40 mins from start to finish , sent a email never received a reply !!!!

I bought a wowcher deal for afternoon tea in is Hull restaurant for £26 but for the amount of food we got not worth the money. We got 4 each of the smallest sandwiches ive ever seen and 3 small cakes a tiny scone and a macaroon each. Far to many deserts in my opinion and not enough savoury. It would have been better with maybe some crisps or nice piece of quiche/sausage roll. I would have been most upset if i had paid the full price of £39. Would not go back.

Staff and service excellent atmosphere good but food average especially considering the price

I spent a couple of weeks at the Double Tree and it was always perfect and the location is very central. The room is always clean with a comfy bed and the little gym is perfect for a workout. Especially the polite and viligant stuff made my stays like a 2nd home. Special thanks to the amazing breakfast team (Thomai, Nikki, Lucky and Nigel)! See you again :)

I was not impressed by the service from the staff, the restaurant had around 10 people in and it took a waiter around 5-10 minutes to come to us to seat us on a table, this as you can imagine wasn’t a great start to the evening. Once seated the waiter asked if we would like any water for the table which I asked for still water. It took I would say 15-20 minutes for someone to ask if we would like any drinks or to ask if we was ready to order. Once ordering our starters and drinks it took around 10 minutes for our starters to arrive which i don’t believe to be very bad but it was around 20 minutes until our drink’s arrive which by that point we had already eaten and I finished our starters but nobody asked if we was finished for at least 35 minutes. It only took around 5 minutes for our mains to come out which I have cooked a lot and it takes more than 5 minutes to cook and prepare 2 steaks and everything that goes with it. I ordered the ribeye steak and what I received was an awfully cooked ribeye that was black char grilled on one side and still pink on the other and the chunky chips I received was still raw potato on the inside. The fillet steak my girlfriend received was with prawns and the plate was almost overflowing with what I believe to be to be oil or some form of garlic which was not the same as what we received at the Marco Pierre whites in the cube Birmingham. In conclusion our whole experience start to finish was awful and not what I would expect from a well renowned and respected name which is Marco Pierre white. I believe after this experience I would not return or recommend this restaurant at all. There was only I believe 3 staff to cover both the restaurant and the bar which in my opinion is defined not enough staff.

We booked this restaurant for our special celebration. We were not disappointed quite simply the best meal. Our server Ishwor did perfect service . He made our visit wonderful, from the beginning to end every step was amazing and we hope he is the best team in hull. Worth every penny and i am so glad we picked this restaurant. Very soon we will be back.

Had high hopes of this place , have eaten at some lovely places in the past and was hoping this would live up to it. Place was beautiful , nice ambience shown to the table and got the first drinks very efficiently , a good start, took our orders in a timely manner , drinks arrived all good so far. 1 of us ordered lamb, and three of us ordered steaks , 2 medium well and 1 well done, the well done was ok, the two medium well’s were not right, 1 was more well done, the other was a mixture of well and medium rare! Never seen it before where part of the steak was over cooked while the other half was still bleeding! Plates were cleared ok, asked for 5-10 mins then we’d order dessert, then the service started to go downhill, after 30 mins of sitting there they’d still not brought the menus over until I got someone’s attention , then it was another 35-40 mins before the desserts arrived, I can only speak for mine which was the sticky toffee pudding , if it wasn’t for the butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream with it , it would’ve been far to dry . The sponge itself wasn’t sticky or moist it was incredibly dry and a little bit tough. When you spend £200 on a meal you expect really nice food and top quality service , instead we got ok mains and most of the desserts were ok, the service was also ok! However, at that price you want “wow that was great, can’t wait to go back” , however, I can wait. Won’t be going back in a hurry. Vastly over priced for what it was, makes me wish we’d gone to Nando’s!

Me and my family visited here for Christmas dinner and can honestly say I have had better micro meals. Portions are very small, the food was cooked to a mediocre standard and the ingredients are nothing special. We paid £85 per person to all be disappointed, turkey was that dry I nearly shared my cocktail with it. Pigs in blankets undercooked, potato fondant was lumpy and the veg was either under or over cooked depending on the vegetable. On top of that we paid £6 per bottle of table water which was just a bottle of Harrogate spring water. Not once was we asked how the meal was, shocking service will not return. I would be ashamed to have my name over the door.

This was a place on my list to try, we booked a early slot so had the restaurant to our selves, had steak and pork mains and prawn and egg starter, they were very basic dishes, staff friendly enough, overall not enough wow factor to live up to his name.

The last time I was in a Marco Pierre White Restaurant was in Glasgow a fair few years ago and was hugely let down to what I was expecting. Me and my wife decided to give this one a go and hoped it was just a one off experience last time. We arrived to an empty restaurant where we was told because we hadn't booked we would have to be quick and they was doing us a massive favour letting us in. (All the time we was there it wasn't even nearly half full) Service was ok but unfortunately again the standard of food did not match the price tag, I had a prawn cocktail which was a few prawns, lettuce, chopped egg 🙄 and a bit of sauce. The brown bread that came with it was the star of the show. I had a burger with chips, not my usual choice in a place like this but played it safe and to be brutally honest the burger was dry and tasteless however the chips were lovely. The wife had Scotch egg to start which was very nice and fillet steak as a main which was tough and dry, even had to order some extra sauce to help get it down. The food wasn't great, the portions were small and dry. The service was shockingly slow, you had to fight to get someone to take your drinks order. We had to remind the service team on several occasions that we had already ordered food drinks.

Lovely, friendly but largely incompetent staff. No atmosphere whatsoever. My calamari starter was cold and rubbery, my partners prawn cocktail was hashed together from very naff prawns and a bit of marie rose. Nothing notable or exciting about either. My steak was over cooked (I asked for medium rare) it was tough, and tasteless. The steak au poivre was undercooked and also tasteless. Hard to really screw up steaks. The peas were tasty, if a little over salted. The chips were unseasoned. We didn’t bother with pudding and our bill immediately appeared without asking. (Plus 20% service charge) It’s basically a bog standard hotel restaurant with hotel staff untrained in serving food. Acceptable if you’re on a business stay and just want some quick, overpriced grub - but don’t go if you are hoping it will be a special evening. And I could really have done without the massive meaty photos of MPW everywhere. He may think he’s sexy, but his restaurant certainly isn’t.

Fantastic night. Steaks were absolutely delicious. Sarina was brilliant as was Andia. All round service was excellent.
