A shadow has fallen upon my once-beloved sanctuary. Whispers, dark rumours echoing through St. Peter's Square, spoke of the decline of Portland Street Subway. I, a loyal patron, refused to believe. I clung to the hope that these tales were mere slander. But alas, the truth is a bitter pill to swallow. I craved the familiar comfort, the artistry of their tuna salad. No mere pre-packaged affair, but a bespoke creation, a symphony of fresh ingredients. Instead, a travesty was presented before me: a pre-assembled insult to my palate. Certain elements within this culinary abomination were simply...unacceptable. With the utmost civility, I expressed my concerns. And what was the response? This...artist...this sandwich butcher...flung my salad into the abyss of the refuse bin! He then, with a grudging hand, crafted a new salad, devoid of the offending tomatoes and olives. My perfect salad, you might think. But the taint of his attitude lingered, a bitter aftertaste that no amount of fresh lettuce could mask. He dared to argue with me, to claim his initial creation was flawless! The audacity! Let the word go forth: I shall darken the doors of this establishment no more! My custom, my loyalty, have been squandered. I shall seek solace, and flavour, amidst the verdant embrace of Piccadilly Gardens. Portland Street Subway, you have lost me. Forever.

Always good service and tasty food at Subway on Portland Street in Manchester. They also cater to custom sandwich filling combinations that aren't displayed on the menu, and are always kind and happy to take those orders. I also appreciate how on certain nights they're open very late. Ayesha especially is professional and quickly attentive to customer needs :)

Came in here at 4am and was served by Ayesha, she was so lovely & provided us with great customer service, was such a great atmosphere, a great end to a good night.

Just been in and ordered a footling honey oat with my own choices of cheese & salad. The customer in front of me ordered chicken tikka. I have just realised the girl who served me did not change her gloves in-between orders. I am vegetarian! Not to say cross contamination and allergies. So I can't eat my sandwich and can't take it back as I am now in work

Qué horror. No se permitía pedir a pesar de que la máquina no funcionaba. ilustrado mi dificultad con la broca atendida se me aconsejó que debo cambiar algo a la orden con el ordenador... .... tonterías

Came here a few months ago and it seemed quite dull and lifeless- been a couple of times this week and honestly have zero complaints. The food is made perfectly, the staff are really friendly, and it’s nice to see them having fun with each other during work. 10/10 :) Thanks guys!

The place is under new management. I see a lot of improvement with just a month so. Keep going with the good work guys. Looks clean, the quality of the food is perfect.

Soy un viajero de negocios regular al Manchester City Center, y fui a almorzar con mi cliente mientras asistía a una reunión en un hotel cercano. Mi cliente ha utilizado este metro varias veces y dijo que tiene un nuevo propietario que ha implementado muchos cambios y que el metro ahora está mucho más limpio y los servicios han mejorado bastante. Me sorprendió gratamente la alta velocidad del servicio, ya que la cola estaba casi fuera de la puerta. La comida era de muy buena calidad.

The cashier was very rude. I mentioned that I want to make it a meal deal. She clearly heard me as she asked if I want a cookie or crisps. After making the payment, I noticed on the receipt that there is no drink added, so I asked if my meal comes with a drink. She said in a very rude attitude "You-did-not-say-you-want-a-drink." I said yes I did, I mentioned I want a meal deal. She then said I will have to pay if I want the drink. I said it's fine. Then she just shook her head as if she was the victim lolll. I will never visit this store again. If you hate your job so much, please consider resigning instead of being so rude to your customers :)

I ordered through Uber eats on a Saturday night, I waited an hour for the delivery and called the shop to see what was happening, they told me the delivery had not been picked up and were not the slightest interested, I asked them to cancel it via Uber and they said not our problem, not interested you still have to pay for it even if it is not picked up. Absolutely discracefull attitude, zero customer service. It was eventually cancelled by Uber and refunded with apologies, I really hope Subway Portland Street were out of pocket because of this after their disgraceful attitude towards me. The guy on the phone I spoke to, I thought, found it quite amusing that I would have to pay for something that hadn't been picked up and not delivered. I wouldn't recommend using this Subway. A minus star needs to be added to these reviews.

Servers had no care for cross contamination. This is the first subway in the country I have seen where staff don't change gloves when touching different types of materials. Not suitable for people with strict dietary requirements (vegetarian/halal).

The lavatories were out of order, no alcohol gel, so no way to even wash your hands before eating, I am not sure how a place like this keeps the license to sell food

This place won’t let you sit and eat your sandwich FORTY MINUTES before closing. They’re busy shitting down up to FORTY MINUTES before closing. Just close early guys it’s annoying and I’m hungry and want to sit down and eat as per your opening times.

We came in today (Saturday 7th) around lunchtime very last minute to order sandwich platters and the staff were so lovely and so helpful. It’s usually 24 hours notice but the manager and Jack (I think that was his name sorry!!) said they would be able to sort it out for us. Such lovely staff and went above to help us out when they were already busy! The platters were delicious and we had very happy crew members when we got back. Thank you so much :)

They couldn’t even put the ingredients I wanted in my sandwich, what nonsense. Worst subway I've ever been to

Waited 30 minutes in the que to be told when it was my turn there are no vegetarian options. I would expect them to amend the board at the top or have a sign.

Staff is very rudely behaving. It’s not good . I don’t like that type of behaving . I never going to subway Portland street . Staff is very rude with everyone . This incident was last night . Night staff both boys are very rude with me .

Worst subway I have ever used no toilet and one of the servers was awful rude unhelpful and gave the worst service I have ever had gave me cold meatballs and when I took back asked me for a receipt even though I was sat in the restaurant and never left I won't be returning

Went in here at 4:40am after a longgg shift as a bartender, the staff were lovely, took my order with a smile and talked to me about my night- they warned me about a horrible customer that was in the shop and warned me against him (as a young woman it makes all the difference) honestly would recommend this particular location of the chain to anyone- staff are absolutely outstanding !

Was really pleasantly surprised by this Subway! Servers didn’t skimp on ingredients when I asked for more, was pretty clean inside and tidy. Didn’t see any flies or anything. Servers were really nice and friendly. Tortilla wrap and fillings were cheesy, saucy, crunchy and delicious. Really hit the spot. Price wasn’t bad for Manchester. No complaints, nice experience, and REALLY TASTY sandwhich!

I can usually overlook the problems with this place. Couldn’t on my latest visit though. There were flies everywhere. On the walls, on the sauce bottles, and on the food. And not just a few. Wouldn’t be too bad if the ingredients were covered to keep them safe. But nope. Just left exposed for all of the flies to land on and nobody really seemed to care enough to do anything about it.

Very grubby. Male server was very rationing with less than a half salad box. Premises not hygienic layout not comfortable the till is located wrong end and customers bump subway give good boxes in general but this one does not

Absolutely appalling customer service every single time I go in. I'm not falling for it anymore, you've lost a customer. The staff are so miserable and it seems they have no idea how to put a sub together

(update at end) Frustrating. The state of the sub was awful. When I got outside and opened my sub, there was no mayo actually inside, but instead was smeared across the side. Had the right amount of everything that I asked for but it was almost split into sections, where one half of the sub was sauce and lettuce and the other was meat. No napkins were provided so I had to wait to eat it until I could find some sort of wipe for my face since the sauce was leaking into the paper wrapping. The only thing that stopped me giving 1 star is that the two gentlemen were lovely and quick, but that lady does not know how to present food! Will not be coming back (UPDATE) I came back! Decided to give it another go to see if my review was fair or not. It was no better this time. The staff looked like they didn't want to be there, like they were being held against their will. So uninterested and miserable. Maybe there's a reason for that, but as far as customer service goes, this was far worse than what you'd expect anywhere else. I was very close to cancelling my order and walking out but I'm not a fan of wasting food. Seems like all the reviews here don't even get looked at either, as I haven't seen a single reply from the store themselves, it's like they don't care. Head office really needs to have a look at some of these. Seriously.

This location rips you off and cuts you short on the ham. I quizzed them about it and they admitted it. Know what you want and amount and make sure you watch them make it.

I came here for a Jalapeno nacho cheese melt for the paltry sum of £2.00, and from the start the owner/manager displayed her lack of skill. She gathered the tiniest amount of nachos possible,dropped a nacho on the floor, I pretended I didn't care,by glancing to the right, so I could get my food, she picked it up and started again with a few sprinkles of cheese and I had to guide her on how to make it. I ended up eating war-rations Subway melt without me being satisfied. She was not interested in making this dish, unlike other branches in Manchester who were pros. But our lady chef was a pure sandwich maker, roti plant owner,that sort of thing. She liked cooking for her family, but no-one else. She truly belonged at home, where someone owned her and ruled over her, because that was her thing, I could tell.

Die Sandwiches waren sehr fein; Zutaten kann man zusätzlich wählen. Die Preise sind relativ hoch (allgemein Teuerung). Personal ist freundlich und geduldig.

Standard subway food, standard service, unclear layout, and don't mention the public toilet 😕 an immediate u-turn.

I’ve never in my entire life met someone with less of a sense of urgency than the guy behind the counter tonight. It shouldn’t take 20 minutes to make a sandwich. He couldn’t have cared less. Smirking as he said “sorry”. Not one other person in there. Give it a solid miss unless you have time to kill watching someone repeatedly picking up different cardboard boxes looking perplexed.

A classic subway right in the city center, never really that busy when i come and always good, just like any other subway really.

Went to buy a cappuccino and I paided with card but there was a trainee on so he was training at same time but he was so rude had a lot of attitude I would of let it go but actions speak louder than words that was bad customer service because I didn't speak to none of them badly all I did was order a hot beverage and that's how I got treated for a mistake that was not my fault so how I would like my money back ps can even watch the CCTV show you on my phone and having nice convo with the member of staff on till

Me and my work colleague poped in for a sub, the place was dirty, we wanted to eat in but opted out. The staff was rude. We remained as polite as we could. When ordering our subs he was doing his own thing, putting random things on our subs that we hadn't asked for. I have allergies so asking to make a fresh sandwich his face dropped, then he proceeds to toast my sub even tho I requested it not be. Then the it's self was great, salad was soggy, bread was stale. Not recommended to visit here.

Good choice of vegetables, but quite often understaffed

Great place but they need to be more considerate of their staff as one person was on shift, there was a long queue and lots of food contamination. Salads in the hash browns and chicken pieces in the tuna. Nice staff member though I just felt bad for the guy.

After arriving I was greeted to a smiling customer assistant, a warming experience and excellent customer engagement. I can’t stress how much I understand what retail workers go through, I witnessed multiple angry customers pass through whilst I sat close-by. Its a shame that some people see these people providing an excellent service as lesser than themselves. A great experience, thank you

A new try, mini tuna burger. As expected, it was quite small but certainly good for kid and price is ok for tuna eith two choice of veg. I score it for three for it is tricky to say for promotion. It just worths that

This particular subway seems below the company standards, bit grotty and slow unenthusiastic staff.

Food was more expensive than the other two subways i went to in manchester and then the person working behind the counter didnt know how to use the subcard scanner and i didnt get my subcard points as well as paying an extra 20p for the same sandwich.

Standard subway food as always, the venue however needs some deep cleaning. The floor was sticky, dirty seats and tables and messy food counter all round.

Decent subway. We all know what subway is, if you dont they make sandwiches to your choice. Lots of options for everyone one lots of customisation. Big enough for you to sit in as a group or you can take your subway away

Pretty much what you can expect in most Subways. My sandwich was pretty average, it was towards the end of the day and some of the ingredients were looking well past their best.

Appears unhygienic. Milk cartons had mould grew growing on them. Though manager refunded me for the tea, didn't seem apologetic or bothered by the mould

I just came to subway 19.24 and Been told I will not be served because shop is closing at 7.30 but says completely different on front doors and webside, very arrogant and rude lady told me that she don’t care and I need to leave the shop

Yep we know what they do but some better than others and this one deserved above average for friendly staff who were eager to offer advice and choices.

I easily spent 20 minutes waiting for my order to be taken. The store is cramped and not layed out well so not only are you queuing but it feels like you are on that rush hour tram journey again. Avoid lunch and early evening as you will find yourself pulling your hair out. The counter seems to be overflowing with staff but only one is ever taking orders with one on the till and three - well god knows what they are doing.

We popped on on our way to the station not wanting a huge meal we had a salad roll it's nice that they now do a lot more Veggie/Vegan options staff were efficient and jolly

Clean. Fast service and a friendly staff. I stop in for lunch on occasion. It isn't blow your sox off great but it's a good option when I'm hungry and in a hurry.

I had a lovely subway sandwich which fell apart when I tried to devour it, promptly served with a hot coffee. The restaurant was lovely and clean however the toilets looked as though they had been under water with water dripping everywhere for some reason. Nevertheless a welcome meal in a lovely place

Only saw one member of staff but very welcoming & friendly. I had missed my breakfast so needed something until our dinner reservation & Subway has plenty of choice. Love all the salad available & variety of meats etc. What's not to like? Grabbed a couple of coffees & dodged the rain to Premier Inn. Place was empty when we arrived but filling up as we left. Plenty of seating inside and spotless. Prices are reasonable at Subway & when we have the children with us they love picking their favourite combinations.

Stayed at Roomz and decided to get a subway for dinner - very friendly chatty staff. Steak and cheese sub is my favourite. Great central location along the main road although no parking so cannot stop outside.

As always, when on the go, you can trust Subway to provide you with the usual selection of breads and fillings. Sandwiches hot or cold.

The restaurant is in a very good location. I went there few times and was never disappointed. What to say, typical subway: friendly service and good subs.
