Just had take out haddock and chips, cost £11+. I drove home 5minutes and ate my fish and chips immediately I got in. The fish and chips were both cold and when I say cold I do not mean Luke warm I mean cold. I had to throw more than half of them away - terrible food and service. I was in the shop for more than half an hour and in all that time I didn’t see any hot chips, freshly cooked, added to the pile that was in the glass boxes. The fish is supposed to be cooked to order. Mine certainly wasn’t. I have had Stuart’s of Driffield takeaway fish and chips since they took over the shop on Mill Lane/Norwood. Will I go back? Definitely not

Called in just for a fish today. Probably one of the best I've had.

The pattie was double cooked, dreadfully thick rock hard batter and a weird dark brown. Chips looked like tiny off cuts. Very expensive compared to other shops..definitely won't use this fisheries again.

Handful of chips only. The young girl was NOT listening, so even though I got charged for it, she did NOT do my complete order!! The owner needs to find someone more competent who listens!!

Strong smell of burnt oil as you approach the shop very off putting. Fish very oily. There's better fish and chip shops in town. No parking nearby.

Always beautiful fish and chips, but most recent visit would have me saying it beats Whitby fish and chips and price hands down beats Whitby, you just don't get fish this good without being a seaside town let alone put one of the best ones to shame. 10/10 if you're hungry and you're about come here!!

My partner popped in Bank holiday on Monday. We wasnt aware of the closing times as it was our first visit, and we couldn't find closing times online. She was met by a rude member of staff who told her they closed in 10 minutes and had nothing left. Fare enough we totally understood. But to be snapped at like she had committed a crime by simply asking. If that's how you speak to new customers then we will certainly never return. A simple sorry we are about to close would have been the correct and polite answer. If you hate your job that much I suggest it's time to look for a new one. Or take some time out to maybe learn some customer service skills. Kindness really does pay off.

Excellent fish and chips here and nice friendly staff serving on. The opposite to the Malton Stuart's. Will definitely go again.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff. The Gentleman who was frying Matty I think his name was, was lovely, the young lad, Brooklyn, who was taking the money and wrapping did a fantastic job, not everyone was having salt and vinegar, he made sure to write on the wrapping what we were having... My mother in law said it the ws the best fish and chips she has had since coming to Yorkshire and she has lived in Beverley for over 20 years. Would highly recommend going.

Ordered fish and chips to take away: fish was about a 5/10, the actual fish was a bit mushy but the batter was crisp, however didn’t eat it all as not great. The chips were pure leather and could not be eaten. All but 3 chips went straight in the bin. Major disappointment. £9 that won’t be spent there again. After reading other reviews I may just have been unlucky. But I won’t risk a repeat. And the two less than cheerful characters behind the counter and fryers were hardly encouraging a repeat visit…poor.

I called in on Saturday evening, I ordered 2 Haddock and Chips. The fish was terrible, grey in colour slimy and did not taste good at all, and it had all fallen to peace’s. The batter was dripping in oil, and totally inedible and it all had to go in the bin, the chips were passable but not good. In all a total waste of money and food. Terrible experience

Customer service at Norwood does not exist. Waited in the queue for over 10 minutes Sunday night only to be told when we got to the counter they had stopped frying. You would have thought out of decency they would have let us know as we walked into the shop. Staff do not really care but I suppose they only work there and only interested in getting a wage. May be management should give their staff a customer service course.

Been here twice now, not particularly keen on their fish as a bit tasteless. Staff are great though

Terrible fish and chips. Soggy batter, stale tasting fish with a yellowish tint to the flesh. Chips all stuck together in a mush Very grump fryer didn't like responding to any questions...just grunted. Would definitely NOT use again.

Ordered Haddock, frier cooked 'fish' which turned out to be skinned cod, the batter, cooked on the outer shell, but raw and sticky inside spoiled the experience more than the wrong fish. Usually first class, but will be unwilling to return if this reflects new standards.

Visited here by chance and have to say, the Fish and Chips were delicious! The service was friendly and warm and I cannot fault it. I have read some of the previous reviews and if I had read them before my visit, I probably wouldn’t have visited. My own experience today was faultless and I would recommend the Haddock and Chips !

Shocking service, unbelievably poor food. Ordered our food with the most rude miserable woman possible, was not interested in us whatsoever; which is flabagasting because the whole point of this transaction is for them to take our money in exchange for edible food and at least some interest in serving. They missed two portions of our fish and chips. We rang and rang and rang and rang, but NOTHING! The food that we did receive was barely edible; the fish had soft bits, awful chewy bits and was bare from batter in most parts. GREY, mushy and bin worthy is the best way to describe it. Never again.

Best fish and chips in Beverley and surrounding area

We have been here for fish and chips many times. But today 5th of January 2024 will probably be the last time we visit this chippy the was small for the usual medium fish . But also the fish was awful the taste was dreadful. Like it wasn't fresh,And for nearly £20 for fish and chips X2 we certainly won't be using this chippy again.

After placing my order and paying for 2 fish, the fryer only did one, the person on the till asked were the other one was, "oh did you want two" the fryer asked. On unwrapping the Fish at home the batter on one was not cooked properly,I'd have took it back if I didn't have to travel 4 miles.

Lovely staff great food parking horrendous for disabled people

Vile food and incompetent staff. Server behind the counter forgot half of the stuff in the order which we were nevertheless charged for, while two pieces of fish in the order were beyond disgusting. While the other fish weren’t exactly amazing, they were at least white and tasted vaguely reminiscent of fish. The offending fish in question were a bizarre dirty pink colour underneath their soggy batter and tasted just dreadful. I have eaten tonnes of fried haddock over the course of my life and have thus far had the good fortune never to have encountered such a terrible specimen. The attached photo doesn’t really do justice to the spectacle. Please do avoid for the sake of your own health.

Visited today (13/6) When entering the shop i did what ive done in every fish shop I've ever visited around the country, I approach the fryer and requested he put me some Fish in, For him to tell me he is Busy, I then proceeded to place my order with the young girl behind the till Who couldn't even get my simple Order correct Luckily i was watching the other Young lady who was preparing the orders so i noticed my order was incorrect, Out of 3 staff members you've got the Fryer who is a grumpy Git And needs to have a course on Customer relations, The Young girl on the till who was rather on her first day or requires More training and support, Then the young Lady who was preparing the Orders Who seems to be the only one with good customer skills and actually knew what she was doing, I doubt ill Be visiting again unless the staff or there attitudes change, Ide rather travel into Hull

Don’t go by the opening hours shown on the website. Sunday hours aren’t 12 - 8 as stated!! I’ve just driven there to have the shop closed virtually in my face with two smiley assistants pointing at the sign in the window….. just a bit of advice let the website managers know the changes of service and also but of training for the staff so they can actually speak to customers!!!!!

Have been here quite regularly mostly very good went on Saturday night got 2 fish chips and a patty The fish was a soggy undercooked mess the chips were dry and scrappy won't go again waste of a tenner

This place used to be amazing in quality and value for money. Not nowadays though. Gone down hill over the last 2 years. Our recent last visit has put us off going again. The fish is now a lot smaller. The chip portion is a lot smaller (and soggy). The price has risen a lot for less food.

Norwood branch. Wasn't too impressed. The fish was dry and solid. The chips weren't cooked high enough and became cold and claggy very quickly. This wasn't the first time.

The best fish n chips in Beverley. Deep blue and sulivans have nothing compared to Stuart’s. I went in on Saturday and the staff were amazing! A young boy served me and he was excellent, well done mate. I’m coming here all the time!!!

My husband and I went here this afternoon for haddock and chips👍😋they were absolutely delicious! The staff were so friendly too, which is a bonus these days. I would recommend a visit if your passing and want great fish and chips.
