Lovely little café. Quick, friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, dog friendly and yummy cake on offer. Lots of choice.

This café is opposite the Douglas Arms Hotel on King Street so was handily placed for a coffee stop after our visit to the Clience Studio gallery and Hazel Campbell’s nearby studio during the Spring Fling festival. The café was a very busy place however we were fortunate enough to get a table by the window just as some people were leaving. It has a good ambiance and we enjoyed the modern country music playing in the background during our visit - possibly linked to one of the servers having an American accent. The food menu has a quirky variety of items and some specials on the board however we were only there for coffee and cake and they do this very well. A couple of medium sized Americano coffees, a slice of Pear & White Chocolate cake for me and a slice of Banoffie Pie cake for my wife amounted to just over £14 which we thought was decent value. Both cakes and the coffee were very good. We would happily drop in here again if in the area.

Visited whilst on holiday in the Galloway Forest. This cafe is dog friendly & so was ideal for us as we had our Springer Spaniel with us. My husband had a toastie (chicken, bbq sauce & avocado) and I had mushroom soup. My soup was delicious. Friendly staff. Oh & the cakes looked amazing but I was too full!

So- Gail and I, on our Hols parked up in Castle Douglas and popped into Streetlights Cafe. Loads of choice and went for The Breakfast In a Bun Haggis and Bacon was my choice. Gail an Egg Banjo. Lovely bun Nice cuppa from a quirky tea pot. Very Dog Friendly.

Visited today for coffee and cake. Haven’t been for ages. The cakes are home made and exceptionally tasty. Chocolate and caramel to die for. I had decaf coffee which was also good.

This is a lovely dog friendly to well behave dogs welcoming cafe which does a good section of snacks, cakes and fruit scones which I we really enjoyed proper Scottish ones. The cafe has a welcoming atmosphere that is hard to find nowadays. If your in castle douglas make this a stop.

Delicious home made food and a warm welcome. Try their rose lemonade too, delightfully refreshing on a hot day. Dogs welcome in the friendly cafè.

We visited Castle Douglas on a day trip from Kippford and decided to visit Streetlights after reading the reviews. We weren't disappointed! It was absolutely great - dog friendly, great menu choices with gluten free options. We all had something different and all commented on how tasty our choice was - we loved the salad garnishes, not the usual boring limp lettuce at the side of the plate. A real treat and part of the meal and we all had clean plates at the end! Coffees were lovely and hot. Prices were very reasonable too and if we were local it would definitely become a regular visit for us. The staff were great - friendly, efficient and service was prompt even though it was busy. All in all a definite asset to Castle Douglas and well worth a visit!

Good veggie, vegan and gluten free options, as well as delicious home baked cakes. We had a selection of sandwiches and paninis. The portion sizes were good and we all enjoyed our lunches.

We received a wonderful welcome to this cafe, it was very busy (always a good sign) with great service. The breakfast bap (with gluten free option) with sausage and haggis was lovely.

We stopped at Streetlights for lunch after seeing some great reviews and we weren't disappointed. We were welcomed in with our dog, there was plenty of choice on the menu so we went with paninis. The haggis panini was delicious and filling, and whilst we were eating our lunch a lovely lady who works there brought over a treat for our dog. It was lovely a clean and busy which is always a good sign. We will happily return.

Looking for lunch? Drop into Street Lights. You will not be disappointed. Lovely, friendly staff. Seated quickly, menu order taken within a few minutes. I plumped for prawn Marie Rose sandwich and oh my goodness so many prawns and a full with a full plate of salad. A delicious cappuccino to finish off. This place is a hidden gem. Excellent value for money. Thank you.

The best chicken and rice soup…ever! My friend and I visited Castle Douglas today, and decided to have our lunch in Streetlights. The staff were lovely, and so friendly, and the service was first class. I asked the lady who served us, what the ‘secret’ ingredient was in the soup. She checked with the chef, and apparently there isn’t one! I can honestly say…it was amazing 😊

Lovely dog friendly cafe, great menu and lovely baking to choose from. We ordered chicken and rice soup and toasties. All lovely and tasty. Coffees good too and provide option of oatmilk etc for differing dietry requirements. Very friendly and accomodating staff. was busy but staff were able to organise tables for people waiting. Good value for money and will return when next in the area.

This beautiful place has the best of everything. The food is so nice, coffee's great and above all the best welcome for us and our two golden retrievers. It's always a bit worrying taking dogs into a new place, especially when one of them is a puppy but the kind ladies here couldn't have been more friendly. Thank you from all of us, we won't hesitate to visit again.

Nice, clean, cosy cafe. Good coffee and a great selection of cakes. Treats for the dog! I do like it when the double espresso ordered comes with a small biscuit and a bottle of cold tap water.

Perfect for a quick lunch. On a bitterly cold lunchtime we were looking for somewhere for a coffee that was dog friendly, Wide menu and we chose Chicken broth and spicy butternut squash. Both were served with a lovely crusty roll and croutons and were delicious. This is one of my favourite cafe to relax in! The staff are more like friends, the food is great especially the home made cakes! Glad they are open again and they are Dog friendly which is a big plus in Castle Douglas and open Sundays too!

Visited here for the first time tues 3rd march.was around 3pm and we only wanted hot drinks and cake.The lady who served us was very welcoming and friendly and even the other customers made a fuss of our dogs. My wife and I visited with our 18 month old daughter for lunch on a very wet weekday. It was busy but the service was friendly and efficient and the food was good quality and value. I had the burger and my wife had a baked potato, both of which were delicious.

Went to Streetlights today for the first time with a group of friends and had one of the best pastrami, Monterey Jack, gherkin snd mustard sarnies I have ever had. Came beautifully dressed with salad, tortilla chips with home made chilli jam, olives and pea shots. Other dishes ordered included jerk chicken and mango chutney sandwich and two baked spuds, one coronation chicken and one ham, cheese and pineapple. The cakes looked divine but I had no room to squeeze one in. Mid range in price but well worth it.

Busy dog friendly cafe in the Main Street serving really great food. 3 different soups and very thoughtful (definitely not lame) vegan options. Very friendly owners - this is our new go-to place in Castle Douglas.

Went here with family for some lunch with limited other options open in Castle Douglas that are dog friendly. Very busy before so we walked up the high street and came back and got a table. Very tasty lunches including baked potato, soup, ciabatta and baguettes. The home baking is simply amazing. We had chocolate cake, Malteser cake and mint rocky road. Coffee was really nice too. All served by very friendly staff and my dog was made very welcome with a treat too.

What a find! On a road trip with my daughter and we popped in here for a spot of lunch. Food is excellent, plenty of choice and vegan options for my daughter. Worth while taking the detour of the bypass for this.

This is a great little restaurant and obviously well liked by locals and visitors alike. We visited a few times during our stay in Castle D and was never disappointed with the quality of food or the friendliness of the staff.

We had to go back to this lovely cafe a second time as the meals were homemade, good portions and value for money. We were too full to have cake after our meals but couldn’t resist them so on both occasions we bought cakes to take home in goodie bags Bonus is its dog friendly 2!

Had a light lunch with friends. The soup, sandwiches and coffee are all very good, and fairly priced. There is a varied light meal menu.

Popped in here with my family and two dogs, it was too warm for a pub lunch so we decided on something a bit lighter. Good menu with plenty of choice for veggies/ vegans including puds. They even made me a dairy free raspberry milkshake (just needed a bit of ice in it!). Dogs were provided with treats and a water bowl. Friendly service, recommend.
