Overall brilliant. The staff were very friendly and quick , many thanks. Atmosphere was great Food was 7/10 with impressive scotch eggs to die for and the appetizers with prosciutto and salad and dip was amazing ! Don't miss them. My cheese board was not amazing though ,nice chutney but tiny cut cheese and not a great selection either. Please this needs changing but apart from that I believe it is a place with great beer variety and a cool environment to hang out.

Decent selection of Belgian beers, good local beers on draft. Food is also good quality.

Nice pub, but the service was just not great. We were rushed out of the pub, hassling us to finish our drinks. Even though it was way earlier than 11pm. Atmosphere was off as we just didn’t feel wanted.

The drinks were exciting to try with fun novelty flavours of beer - I went for a honey fruit beer called Floris (would recommend). The waiters were informative and eager to talk about the drink selection. The food was very rich and tasty - I had a vegetarian stew that was delicious. My sister had the beef stew and said the beef was cooked perfectly. Super filling dinners. The atmosphere was great, with super cool wallpapers and nice dining layout. I think we benefitted being near the front window as we had a great view if the ornate hotel opposite and less background echoes than the centre of the room. Really would recommend for great service and fun drink options.

Great service, great beer selection

We had a lovely experience. Staff were very helpful (including accommodating our toddler baby). We enjoyed great beers and nice food.

Came here for drinks and food after my wedding and I cannot speak highly enough of the venue. Myself and my partner were left with nothing to worry about, as food was continually brought out and staff were always on offer to take drinks orders. The food was great - a perfect selection of sharing platters to share with family, and I would never run out of delicious beers to try. I'd recommend these guys without question to cater for any similar sort of event and can't wait to come back for some more food and beer!

After a wet day wandering around Bristol we were on our way back to our hotel but decided to pop in the Strawberry Thief for a quick drink before heading back. So glad we did. What a wonderful place it is. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive without being over the top. We enjoyed ourselves so much we stayed and had some food too. Their chips are the best I've ever had and that cinnamon butter is incredible with the sour dough bread. We would definitely return next time we're in Bristol. I also loved that all the drinks clearly state if they're veggie, vegan etc saves me having to ask. Great for get togethers or just as a couple. A must if you like a quieter bar with a lovely vibe.

Been here before COVID and first time since. The choice of beers is mind boggling and the range of types is great. I sampled three different beers over two hours, probabaly as much as I could hvae, and enjoyed every one. I finsihed with the Kwek, whihc comes in a long glass held in a scaffold to stop it falling over. The depth of taste and range of textures to the nose and mouth is amazing but its porbaly worth planning to finsih on this one - its 8.4% and will ruin your taste buds for anything further.

1st time in Bristol and popped in here for a drink on off chance. .Great selection of beers and lovely adherence to Belgium traditions with matching glass every time & glass and/or bottle served at the table facing you. Really pleasant informal service too. We will certainly be back on our future visits as our daughter now lives in Bristol

Superb range of beers and attentive friendly staff. Tip top.

Brilliant customer service. I went in to see if they had any Houblon Chouffe, the best beer in the world. They didn't, however, they had a Chouffe gift box on sale, with a Houblon inside which they let me buy and drink on site. Brought me an ice bucket too to cool the beer and invited me to drink the whole box (I'll pass thanks considering the strength of the beers!)

I loved this place ! I was on my own and staff were really nice and friendly. Loved the food and had a slow cooked stew and seriously yummy Creme Brûlée, and a sample of one of the beers. Reminded me of little bars in Belgium Holland. Give it a try when you visit Bristol.

Really nice place to spend time in city center, smiling and caring staff. Table service is really good but i gotta say, the amount of popcorn sold for 2£ is ridiculous. it's too little even to give as a treat...

My favourite pub in Bristol! Staff always lovely and friendly, great selection of different beers

This little place has been my oasis for a week while my son has been in Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital. I’ve spent all day every day in hospital seeing him in pain and distress, and every night I’ve walked back to my hotel at 10pm (my wonderful wife takes the night shift by his side). Anyway, it’s been very hard but opposite is the Strawberry Thief. A pretty but informal little Belgian bar for beer connoisseurs. Evidently a great place for a group of friends on a night out, a couple on a date or me solo, trying a few beers and just decompressing before I go to bed. They didn’t mind when I knocked over a glass, and they were understanding when I got up and forgot that you pay your tab when you leave here (not used to that in the UK and I am very, very tired). I love the leather bound beer menus, I love the wallpaper and the tiled fireplace, and I loved the excellent food my wife and I were able to have when my sister sat by my son for an evening. I don’t usually write such personal reviews but it’s been a very personal week and this little bar gave me a little breathing space where I could be on my own amongst friendly people, rather than just going back to an empty hotel room. When my boy’s old enough, we’ll come back and have a beer and the scotch eggs.

Amazing place, friendly service and great selection of beer

Came to sample the Belgian and Dutch fare for a light lunch, and were not disappointed. I had a fabulous Trappist Witte and my other half had a Paulaner. We both tucked into the Bristol Rarebit - made with Cornish Gouda and Pilsner, and served with excellent pickles. Absolutely delicious! The staff were really friendly and welcoming, and the place itself is beautifully put together. We will definitely be back!

Visit No - 001 and many more to come I hope. I would describe the Strawberry Thief as slightly off the beaten track as it was more of a chance discovery. What a great discovery it was though! The food was fantastic, I would say this definitely more of a bar than a restaurant but as I'm not a fussy eater the small menu didn't bother at all plus a few things done well, is always better than a lot done averagely. I had the pork belly in May 23' and hope this stays on the menu 1000%. Great service guys 😊

The best place in England, me and my partner visited the strawberry thief today and was astonished by how beautiful the place was! A warm welcome from the manager in the checked brown shirt, a lovely head chef Eric who took our order explained the menu and gave some fantastic reccomendations he was also looking after the food today and he did an amazing job! Big up Eric.. I have never ever received such amazing service. Me and my partner are delighted we found a gem! I didn’t get our waiters name who served us for the second time he had curly brown hair was so friendly and was wearing navy boots. The attention to detail in this stunning place is unreal and the attention the staff pay their customers is beyond brilliant. Hats off to you all. Was a real pleasure to experience such amazingness. Thank you for making our day 💖

The Delirium elephant drew us in and as someone who loves Belgium this place was top notch! Didn't eat but the food looked and smelled amazing. All round really cool place with lots of nice Belgian beers and a relaxing vibe!

Thoroughly enjoyed the great selection of beers on tap and the majority of staff were very friendly. Will definitely be returning. Only knocked down from 5 stars to 4 due to the excessive 12.5% service charge added onto the bill, combined with a member of staff taking umbrage when we ‘only’ offered to pay 10%, which really is more than fair for orders of just drinks. Even more so when you consider the large premium you are paying on the drinks (a bottle of Duvel here costs £8 vs £2.50 in just about any supermarket). A slight sour taste left after an otherwise great afternoon.

Popped in just for a quick drink but the staff were so delightful I stuck around for food and I'm glad I did. Irek, Maria and the manager Tim were very warm and welcoming! Really enjoyed the bratwurst; the portion was larger than I thought, that was cool. Every bite put a smile on my face. A fancy place but the quality matches it entirely.

The beer selection is very wide, so a perfect place for beer lovers. The food was nice, although the starters arrived along with the mains. We ordered 3 beers but one of them wasn't the same we picked. The place is very cosy and tastetly decorated.

Waiters are great. They greeted us very nicely. The guy serving us explained the menu very well. He even asked the chef to make us some chips even tho the kitchen was already closed. Beers were good, chips were very nice. A place is worth coming again.

What a great place, a menu of mainly Belgium beers, but surprisingly a couple of Norwegian beers as well. A mix of on tap and bottles. We had great chips with dips. Service was friendly and very knowledgeable, definitely worth a visit

Wow. A really relaxing Belgian boozer with a proper European feel and absolutely amazing flood. I'd highly recommend this venue to try some artisan Belgian ales and the delicious food.

During our business stay in Bristol we wanted to have some Belgian beer, so this placed was recommended to us. We went inside to learn that all sits are busy/reserved and only option was to have a seat outside. It came as a surprise, as we could see some places available. It was quite cold outside, so we decided to have just a beer instead of full meal. The waiter promised to see us outside immediately. Well, it took him more about 10 minutes to bring us a list of beers. He gave us another 5-7 minutes, before he took our orders, then another 10 to bring the order. The beer was delicious, as you would expect from Belgian one. We finished it quite quickly because of cold and wanted to pay. I signalled my reediness to pay to the waiter who was serving next table. 10 minutes later, still no one bothered to charge the bill. Well, I went inside to pay and there I learned that THEY DON'T TAKE CASH. That is a big NO NO for me in hospitality industry. That 1 star out of my review, just for that. Overall conclusion: this is the place busy enough to not to care about new customers. It was my first and last visit.

Lovely Belgian beer ... so many available. It was going to take 30 minutes to cook and we were under pressure, so ended up with two cheese boards alongside some chips, all of which was excellent ... ! Would come back for a meal one day ... which is saying something, as I live over 100 miles away from Bristol!

A place where you can enjoy it just for its atmosphere. The service was great, very attentive and friendly. The food is not bad. The cod was fresh, and the shrimp “croquettes” surprised us with their size. A lot of ambient noise, because people talk loudly. But that's part of its fun. Worth. Highly recommended.

Great little pub/bar with a fantastic atmosphere! Beers are reasonably priced. As a party of 5, we worked our way through a number of different beers and some liquors, including a beer flight which I'd highly recommend if you're not sure what you want to drink! Barstaff are knowledgeable and pleasant, and the cheeseboard was lovely (though could have used a few more crackers/breads). All in I'll be back for sure; the food menu looked excellent but definitely one to book in advance!

We have had a great night at this establishment! Charlotte was a class act from start to finish with an award winning haircut of which we can all be envious. Attentive, friendly with great chat. Cracking evening spent supping vin rouge, 100% recommended.

As a visitor to Bristol now more frequently, this has to be my favourite place both for delicious selection of drinks, but also its unique and characterful interior. The staff are always really obliging and helpful. It’s a great find and a lovely place to relax, the food always looks enticing too!

The Strawberry Thief (decorated top to toe in William Morris's 1883 artwork by the same name), is one of the finest 'tap rooms' with a compelling selection of traditional Belgian beer + some contemporary 'craft beer' options. They also serve up snacks, small plates and sharing boards inspired by European cuisine, with a modern Bristolian twist in a superb central location. Been twice and has been a highlight of both visits to Bristol.

Food was good. The room and furniture was little run down but in a sort of cozy way.

Out in town for the evening looking for somewhere for food. We saw the sign at the end of the road by Corn Street and headed down. We got lucky and got a table outside. The service was quick and really good. The food was amazing, and arrived fairly quickly. We had a dessert as well, which was as nice as the mains. Well, worth a visit to this little hidden bar.

Friendly and polite service, delicious food and, of course, excellent beer! We had lunch here and really enjoyed it. The beer selection is terrific - some old friends and lots of lovely surprises! If you like Belgian beer, or particularly if you haven't tried it, go here! Highly recommended.

I've had worse £16 burgers, but not many. Tasted like it just been taken out of the freezer and the bun was stale too. The non-negotiable 10% service charge (not advertised) was also unwelcome. Such a pity, as the staff were nice and the bar itself was cool.

Food was excellent (HIGHLY recommend the pretzel bun burger), drinks were lush, atmosphere was lovely and all the staff were exceptional. Will be coming back next time I'm in Bristol.

Brilliant Bar. Really feels like a Belgium Beer Cafe. Excellent atmosphere in a really welcoming space. Superb service, great selection of beer, and whilst we didn't eat, the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. A fantastic place to 'hang out'. Highly recommend.

This place is lovely for a sit down meal for an occasion as it’s quite expensive (£5.90 for a Lost and Found and our burgers were £16). However, the food is delicious and haven’t had a burger that good in a long while. The staff were very friendly. The continental table service is good for a meal but if you’re just there for a drink it’s a little frustrating. The style of the tables is a bit difficult as there’s not much room for your legs! Otherwise, great spot especially if you’re into your Belgian beers.

Really good Belgian and European beer selection, as well as some local breweries. Good choice of small plates or larger meals too.
