A beautiful sunny afternoon for a few pints and what a treat to see haggis on the menu!! Waited 60yrs to try this and what an incredible treat here. Don’t get the small and leave disappointed. Go for the full size or go home!! It is absolutely delicious.

We got caught in the rain during our visit of the Glasgow university buildings, and just picked a spot that was nearby. It turned out to be a very positive surprise as we came along this lovely Scottish restaurant. It was a bit crowded but luckily we got a table and enjoyed some amazing dishes and drinks. It is a bit more on the pricy side, however you get amazing dishes for your money and very attentive service.

Nice restaurant in the city of Glasgow, with a very good atmosphere, cordial and friendly service. They gave us a table despite not having reserved, on the condition that we finish our dinner before 7 p.m. We thought it was great. Food very well prepared and tasty. The wine list is excellent. Highly recommended! Make a reservation!

Stravaigin is a beautiful gaelic word and means to wander without purpose. This easy-vibe bar & restaurant feels different to anywhere we've visited so far this year. It's definitely unpretentious, relaxed and attentive service feels natural and honest. It is a cool local hangout, well away from the centre of town (in the west end). The food is fabulous and they use local Scottish ingredients as well as those from further afield to achieve a great combination. You can just enjoy the bar where local friends sit on bar stools chatting about their day. Or you can dine in the shabby-chique pub with it's stripped down paintwork, raw ceilings and sanded back floors. I enjoyed a bloody Mary cocktail (with a perfect amount of heat because the bar girl asked how I enjoy my drink, "8/10 I declared "). I also ordered olives and nuts and both were more than ordinary. For main course the steak 🥩 was off the scale and the accompanying hash brown was a revelation. After a short intermission/ pause, while I chatted to locals on the adjacent table, I ordered a chocolate dessert from heaven and finished that off with a glass of dessert wine. This is a place where can easily feel at home. It's not like most restaurants recognised by the Michelin guide, basically it's a suburban pub with gastro food and it packs a huge punch. It's a perfectly simple combination, yet the food & service is slick and accomplished.

Unusually for Stravaigin and unfortunately our experience was below what we’ve come to expect. This is one of our “go to” places whenever we visit Glasgow so it’s a little disappointing when it falls below standard. We had some sourdough bread with skordalia which was delicious. My wife had Jamaican chicken curry which was also delicious. I chose venison and was told that they served it medium rare. I’m used to restaurants typically under cooking meats, so asked if they’d make mine medium. Yes they could but it would make it “more of a chew.” When it arrived it looked rare, rather than medium rare or medium and it was a real challenge to chew through. When asked by the waiting staff if everything was okay, I got a bizarre explanation that even when it’s cooked beyond the point of being rare, it doesn’t really take on a different appearance. I didn’t wish to be awkward, so just left it there. It seemed obvious that they didn’t take responsibility for the dish and so I chewed through what was possible and left the rest feeling a little dissatisfied. Still charged full price and a 10% service charge on top. So it was unusually disappointing but we’ll give them another opportunity next time we visit.

We will come back to eat, because the food looks good. But the bar area was a bit boring. We also ordered the Oaxacan peanuts as a bar snack and they were completely covered in bright red greasy oil. They tasted fine but were impossible to eat as a bar snack and dangerous for clothes! If you were sharing them in a bigger group you would have a lot of mess and licked fingers being dunked in and out of the nuts. Very odd!

First time in Glasgow, travelling solo, heard it was a good pub so booked for dinner. I took an Uber from my hotel, but a local bus back to a stop near my hotel. Enjoyed the bar atmosphere and dinner was excellent. Haggis, tatties and neeps starter (it convinced me I do like haggis), then venison with broccoli and chips ( I asked to swap main's normal mash for chips as I had it with the haggis) The venison was cooked to a perfect medium rare, as it should be, and the broccoli was also perfect, with a crispness. Great sauce complimenting both. The atmosphere is lovely, I was upstairs for dinner (which was a little warm even though I taken off several layers). Staff were lovely and service spot on. Loved this place. Definitely recommend.

Dined here recently for my wife's birthday. Nice ambiance and vibe however the menu was disappointing. Starters and curry were tasty however the burgers were somewhat average. Two of our party ordered the prawn curry which was clearly read back by our waiter. Very disappointing to therefore be served two chicken curries when the food arrived! Those of us who had ordered burgers then had to wait whilst our food cooled until the correct order arrived about 10 minutes later. Not great. The menu also advertises Loch Melfort sea trout. I avoided this as it is undoubtedly farmed. Looking afterwards at the Loch Melfort aquaculture website it appears that the so called 'sea trout' are in fact sea farmed rainbow trout. The menu is therefore very misleading. Sea trout (a threatened and protected fish in Scotland) are native brown trout which migrate to sea and return to spawn-not farmed, non-indigenous rainbow trout. Ironically and sadly, aquaculture farms have decimated wild sea trout stocks by infesting them with sea lice. The restaurant needs to spell out exactly what is on offer on the menu- i.e Loch Melfort sea farmed rainbow trout and not "sea trout'.

I had a Xmas lunch (3 course meal) with around 20 guests and had a lovely time. The presentation and quality of the food was spectacular, even with such a large number of guests. The staff were lovely and regularly asking how we were finding our dishes which were so tasty. The portion sizes were good too for a festive 3-course meal. My biggest appreciation was for how the resturant kindly agreed to alter their festive menu 2 months prior to accommodate for a large number of vegetarian guests. They included a variety of tasty veggie and non-veg options and my veggie guests greatly enjoyed their meals! Amazing!

Google said I am a top 20% reviewer and is annoyingly pushing me to leave a comment or review for this location. I avoided it a few times, but obviously, the universe wants this to happen, so here you go. I've been to Stravaigan twice in my life. I don't have either a particularly positive or negative experience. It's some sort of pseudo sophistication "wearing" an urban hipster vibe. It's not my style for sure. The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is good (I assume), and as I said about the atmosphere—it’s probably the best place in the world for someone, but not my gig. Both times I’ve been there, I was ill for a week afterwards. I rarely get ill in general. I don't know the reason and I'm not going to investigate either, but as a result, I’m not going back for sure, as that’s the message I’m getting from the universe. Apart from that, if this is your style—enjoy! P.S. I don't think this review is helpful for anyone apart from Google, so don't get it too serious. Don't get life too serious as well as tomorrow never comes.

A birthday lunch just before Christmas - the restaurant is beautifully decorated and was fairly quiet (thankfully) the lunchtime we attended. Excellent haggis and a parsnip and apple soup with very good gluten-free bread. All tasted very fresh and good. Main courses are pricey at around £29 ish but deliver on taste and very well judged for balance in flavour. The wine is pricey but again, for us, this was a treat so felt the wine list offered a good choice. The Tempranillo was not light at 14% but holds good quality and fruit. Would order all the same things again. Service was fun, prompt and lovely from Olivia with back up speed and polite, friendly and excellent. Overall, excellent place and dining experience. Big thanks for such a fun visit.

My mum and I stopped for a night in Glasgow when travelling to see family in Scotland, for our holiday treat, chose our old favourite (Stravaigin) for dinner. It did not disappoint! Food was a fantastic as ever - tasty, imaginative dishes, service friendly, helpful. We had my dog, which was no problem to them - well worth a visit, you won’t be disappointed. Highlights for me were the Scallops and pumpkin (excellent, well thought out, balanced plate) or the manchego brûlée but it’s hard to choose as all the dishes were amazing - others we had were the pigeon starter, duck leg special with tabbouleh, the Basque cheesecake. If I was to make any criticism at all we did have to wait a bit for our desert order to be taken, then again to pay our bill - but I am really nip picking as there were plenty of staff, all busy in full service, so we could of flagged someone down but we were in no hurry so waiting was no problem. Thanks again Stravaigin, a highlight of our trip home

Sunday Lunch. Made a trip in from Balloch purely for Sunday Lunch on a dreich day on a recommendation. Simply put, worth the trip. Great atmosphere, great service, memorable (in a good way) Yorkshires filled with a really savoury ragu, to accompany really tasty roast beef and enough decent gravy to keep a Yorkshire Lass happy (not an easy feat). I still don't like Haggis but that is my problem as this may be the best I've ever tried either vegetarian or 'real', too. And the vanilla ice cream was just amazing, maybe not had better outside of Italy. Don't dither, GO. We will next time we are anywhere near.
