We turned up without a booking. The waitress could not have been more helpful. It was busy but she said there was a table available in thirty minutes. When we came back we were recognised immediately and shown to our table with a balcony view. The service stayed fantastic throughout the evening. The food was both looked and tasted amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Waiting staff are on the ball. Portion sizes are moderate. Drinks were reasonably priced. £5.50 for a pint of Guinness in the city centre centre is good going. Friendly atmosphere also. Good place to go. Glad I went.

We were having a family birthday meal. Received with a very warm welcome and the same excellent service followed all night. 2 course menu was excellent value and good choice with vegetarian, vegan and GF options available. Well-sized portions. Delicious cocktails and good variety of drinks. Lovely courtyard ambience. Staff kind and helpful. We had plenty of time at our table to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Food brilliant, every single one of us cleared our plates. Topped it off with delicious coffee and cocktails. 10/10 Metropolitan, we will be back!

Had a little problem with the Irish coffee. The waitress called the manager who sorted it out straight away with extreme professionalism. I highly recommend this establishment.

It was quiet, but it was 7pm on a wet Monday. We had two lovely cocktails in a nice setting, and were served by welcoming and friendly staff.

An exquisite dish in the heart of Glasgow

Was given an ITISON Voucher for Afternoon Tea for Mothers Day. When I went to book it I noticed in small print this asked if you could book the week before. I only looked at the expiry date and the voucher was still in date! I called the pub yesterday Fri 29th 23 only to be told by a very rude guy that said he was the manager and they couldn't accommodate because they were too busy!! So I lost out on the Voucher. I wasn't happy and asked to speak to the general manager and was given the email address and this was answered promptly by I believe the very same cheeky guy I got on the phone. Because this voucher was still in date I believe I should have been offered an alternative date to use this or food to the price that this cost so I didn't t lose out on this. Its not my fault they were so busy. This manager needs to polish up on his customer service skills because he had none and it made me see red.

Was recommended this place by quite a few people and it’s definitely worth a visit. A lovely location and bar. Prices are a little on the expensive side but you don’t mind when it’s an occasion.

A friend and I went to this bar last night regrettably. We were looking to get a small bite to eat and maybe a drink before heading on to a different bar. Upon arrival the waitress barked at us to sit wherever you want. Didn’t provide food menus or anything. We tried on multiple times to get their attention to be ignored. Many times they made eye contact with us yet still went on about their day. The service was not just bad but non existent and we felt very small and worthless in the world of metropolitan bar. As they think they are out of this universe. They are not. We literally walked out the service was so bad, the only good thing about the place was the door leaving it. We have seen other reviews saying the same things. So unless you look like royalty you are getting shunned. We read a review they a couple were refused entry as they had a baby (that was asleep) with them. So maybe don’t try that if you have children

Couldn't believe it, 2PM on a Wednesday afternoon, 5 adults wanting lunch, refused entry because we had a newborn baby asleep in a pram. I could understand if it was a busy evening, but the place was empty, the barman turned us away at the door. Turned out OK, we were welcomed at BAR91 close by.

Gluten Free Afternoon tea at Metropolitan in Glasgow 👎 I DO NOT recommend it. My sister said her non GF version was lovely. Sandwiches were nice, bread soft and lots of filling. Chicken on a skewer was ok. Top tier- scone was brick hard and had a horrible taste to it, one bite was one too many, the dollop of what I think may have been clotted cream was hard. Wee dish had whipped cream,1 blueberry and 1 raspberry , odd item (non GF had same) Middle tier - mini cakes, the chocolate swirl iced one was dry but edible as was the little square one. The mini carrot cake was brick hard and dry and I could barely cut through the mini choc muffin, gave up on it. It was an Itison voucher so thankfully not an expensive one.

Nice bar with a nice atmosphere, the courtyard was lovely. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful bar, very pretty restaurant with lots of open space, excellent service and great selection of drinks 🍸 I highly recommend for any sized groups and especially birthday celebrations. Only downside is the facilities are downstairs which can be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.

I had my baby shower with afternoon tea in the private dining room here and could not fault them! The staff were so helpful when organising it and fabulous on the day. The afternoon tea was lovely. I would highly recommend for any private function.

We popped in 27th of December so wasn't busy only 3 tables still drinks took over 15 minutes we ask about them remember only 3 tables and only 1 had us 3 of sitting so we see drinks but girl is heading for table of 6 🤔 I made it know it was for us with a wee whistle this made staff a wee bit unhappy but if you can't work out where the drinks are going 🤫food was nice but very small portions so don't think I will be rushing god what it would be like it it was busy 🙄😬

Went on New Year’s Eve. Food was exceptionally good, service and bar staff great and really enjoyed the night.

I had Christmas lunch 3 courses 30 sum thing pounds my goats cheese starter disgusting Christmas turkey dinner portion horrendous worst dinner I have ever had terrible 😞

Had a Christmas lunch here with the work and it was great! Vegan food was delicous, was a set Christmas lunch, about £30 per person I think. Portions were a little small but good quality food. Malbec was delicous too, approx £24 per bottle. Friendly service, we arrived early and the team were able to accommodate. Really nice atmostphere especially as it was at Christmas time so the place was decorated in lights. would certainly return

Wasn’t looking forward to our visit for afternoon tea ,a Itson voucher birthday present for my wife having seen the previous trip advisor comments ! Our experience was totally different, very pleasant and attentive service from Josh , quality of food was excellent, we also enjoyed sitting out in the courtyard, great atmosphere and comfortable seating,would recommend!

We went here for a lite bite. Decided to go for the sharing cheese board . What a disappointment. 6 small oatcakes 6 grapes a small bowl of chutney and 3 of the smallest pieces of cheese. There’s no way it’s a shared item. £10 what a rip off. I’ve had cheese boards for one that was much bigger portion. We also had ciabatta and olives again the ciabatta was only a roll cut into 4. They had the cheek to charge a service charge too we defo won’t be back.

Booked afternoon tea at the Metropolitan using an ITISON voucher. We were met by Roisin on our arrival, who was extremely friendly and inviting. A short time later the younger waitress arrived at our table and advised we had a choice of prosecco or a cocktail along with our afternoon tea. I enquired about the 'Metropolitan' cocktail expecting to be told what specifically was in the drink. The waitress replied that it was made from a variety of fruit, prompted further she said that it was raspberry based. Eventually she revealed it was made with vodka. (It was like drawing teeth). She made it clear to me with the roll of her eyes that she wasn't impressed by my questions. The drinks arrived and a short time later the waitress arrived with our tiered afternoon tea. Unfortunately it was just set down, with no explanation as to what was in the sandwiches or the other little treats, so we were left to work this out for ourselves. About 5 mins later the waitress returned and said 'tea or coffee?' I asked what tea they had, (wrongly) expecting that there would be a selection. I was told there was only English breakfast. I asked if there was any green tea, which the waitress said she hadn't seen any, but if there was she get that for me. Surprisingly, she returned with the green tea. As for the afternoon tea itself, it was very disappointing. There were three finger sandwiches. One was tuna, one cheese (I think) and one ham which was swimming in mustard. There was a warm ham croquette in a corn relish. A variety of sweet treats including a small macaroon, a short pastry base filled with cream and a tiny meringue on top and a small, possibly ginger flavoured sponge. There were two plain scones with cream and jam, however the scones were stale. Whilst not the best afternoon tea by a long shot, we were hungry and ate it. We ordered a number of prosecco and each order was delivered by our confident but unfriendly waitress, whose interpersonal skills were zero. I don't think we'll be returning.

First time visitor to the Metropolitan, here for a wedding meal and drinks and it was perfect. Food was excellent, drinks and cocktails were numerous and delightful and the service was second to none. A fantastic evening was had by all.

Not best experience here. We had used a voucher via itison and booked an afternoon tea. Cannot recommend based on our experience. Will try other venues before coming back here. Staff appeared disinterested and nobody asked how the food was. Sandwiches had that dry touch to them as if they'd been left out for some time. We both had iffy tummy's later, and whilst may not be due to here, as we'd travelled in by train, we'd not been anywhere else during the day. Coffee was okay though. Shame as a good experience would have brought us back as part of an evening out

Lovely staff, even managed to get us a table on the balcony on a busy Saturday afternoon and were very friendly. House Chardonnay forgettable but the steak and Caesar salad both very tasty. Will definitely go back.

We were there for afternoon tea as a larger group and it was really lovely. I will say though, do NOT go in summer weather. There central square acts like a greenhouse!

Had the barley, salmon crayfish risotto, highly recommended, and the black pudding bon bons for starters 😋

First visit with Itison voucher, 2 course with signature cocktail and well worth it. The balcony seats were perfect, service was good but it’s all about the food and it was great….plentiful and couldn’t finish it all. Definitely worth a visit

Nice bar but quieter than years gone by, excellent security staff and inside square seating area gives an alfresco atmosphere without worries of bad weather.

First time here and with a friend who has been many times before. The food was delicious and washed down with a bottle of Pinot. Staff were polite and friendly. We were so relaxed, that when I realised the time, I had to run for my train. I will definitely be back.

I could have written the bible in the time it took to get drinks. Luckily, the waiteres memory wasn't that great, so we hot a few for free.

Was given an afternoon Tea for two and a bottle of Prosecco as a voucher for my birthday. Really looking forward to a trip up and being spoilt. Sadly I was very underwhelmed. The place had zero atmosphere. Hard plasticky wooden effect chairs. Basic tables. Our waiter sprayed the Prosecco when he opened it and no offer to replace with a new one - didn’t seem to matter that some had been wasted. The food itself has got to be the worst afternoon tea I’ve ever had. Basic white bread with not a huge amount of filling and very little imagination - tuna, ham and chees coleslaw. The tiniest scones imaginable - which crumbled as you opened them. Then four tiny petit fours each. We were very much left wanting more. No real attention from staff. I hate to think what my family paid for the voucher. We had to go elsewhere to get a decent bit of food!!

We had a lovely dinner at the Metropolitan. The food was just delicious and the portions were just massive! It really is a beautiful restaurant/bar. The staff are also lovely and provide first class service. Will definitely be back!

Very nice place to eat. Atmosphere wasn't very good, very quiet, but it was a Tuesday evening. Suited us as we wanted a catchup. Only negative is you need to pay extra for chips and potatoes, they are not included in your main meal. My friend would definitely recommend the wagu beef burger 🍔.

5/5 for food...just some nice snacks...service quick at the bar with good interaction from the staff..atmosphere quiet inside so very relaxing.

Whole team of staff were great. Squeezed a large group of us in with no issue, staff at the bar were mega efficient and the cocktails etc were great. Also went out of their way to make some non-alcoholic cocktails that were not on the menu for some of the people that had stopped drinking. Will def be back.

Metropolitan bar should definitely be on your list of places to check out. My recent visit there left me thoroughly impressed! First and foremost, the steak was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, it was one of the best I've had in a while. Paired with a glass of red wine that was just the right balance of bold and smooth, it made for a truly memorable meal. But it wasn't just the food that stood out at Metropolitan bar. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with cozy lighting and stylish decor that made for a great ambiance

Nice place and nice wine but staff were appalling and couldn't be bothered to serve people. Left us sitting for ages, had to ask to be served and it wasn't that busy.

Good drinks and good localisation, close to the public transports. The only point I didn't like was that we were in a group of 11 people and they were asking all the time if we were already going, because they wanted to use the table, even if we were still having our drinks. However, there was still some time left. The waitress dropped the whole glass of drink from one of the girls and we didn't have any discount or any other drink.

A few of us went for dinner on a Fri night. We were using gift vouchers (Christmas gift). We were allocated a table in the furthest away corner on the mezzanine...walking past lots of empty table in nicer parts of the restaurant. It seemed if you had vouchers you were put in this section as the table in front also had vouchers. It was so dark you could not read the menu. It was also very cold. The table in front asked to be moved. We also asked to be moved and were given one of the 'nice' tables...why not do this in the first place?! The food was ok. Not great but not the worst. Times are tough for sure, but perhaps Metropolitan should consider simplifying the menu to improve quality and looking after the Customers who are actually visiting their bar and restaurant. Will attend again for drinks but probably not for food unless it changes.

Food atmosphere and staff are amazing a must visit venue when your in the city center.

Having booked a table online on Friday evening we were surprised to find the restaurant closed when we arrived on Saturday afternoon. Nothing to indicate this on website, no notice on the door although the online booking had been confirmed. I emailed the restaurant on Sunday saying I would not rate them on Tripadvisor if they replied within forty eight hours. I have given them longer than that and not heard from them.In these difficult times for the hospitality industry it is astonishing that a business would treat customers so shabbily. Surely if a restaurant has to close suddenly or unexpectedly it should be a priority to switch off the booking system? I have been required to give a rating of one but obviously would have preferred to give zero. I have answered no to most of the questions as most of the things asked about were unavailable because the place was shut.

Excellent food excellent service friendly and efficient. Well set out for Covid Was very impressed that the staff were treated well during lockdown and have been returned as well as recruiting new staff they have to be commended.

Fui aquí para almorzar en la cena para ayudar en el plan.Tenía las gambas como entrante, aunque las gambas eran preciosas, no me gustó la hierba de limón ya que parecía pequeños pelos en la salsa, así que no volvería a elegir eso.Mi amigo tenía el bollo tattie y el entrante haggis y dijo que era encantador, así que estoy deseando probarlo la próxima vez que visitemos.Los platos principales también eran encantadores y el joven que nos servía era amable y servicial.La única queja fue que le pedimos a una camarera un menú de postre y esperamos 20 minutos, así que nos dimos por vencidos y fuimos al lado por un postre.

Popped in for a drink on a Friday night out after dinner! Cocktails are absolutely fabulous as ever. We sat inside as outside was booked .. but know for next time. Will return!

Fuimos a Metropolitan y tuvimos el menú de comedor durante todo el día, nos salvó decir que fue absolutamente increíble, la comida, la presentación, el personal y el ambiente considerando que no hay música debido a las regulaciones, es bueno ver ese rastro y rastro también se está utilizando! ! sobre todo, si tuviera que puntuar la comida sobre 10, sería un sólido 10 como se puede ver en las fotos, el menú también es muy justo en términos de selección y precio, ¡definitivamente volveremos! ! !

Had a lovely Sunday lunch, beautiful smoked salmon with just the right amount of creme fraich followed by roast beef with all the trimmings and the biggest Yorkshire pudding! All cooked to perfection, compliments to the chef! Will definitely be back, fab service too.

Had a lovely meal today from the set Sunday lunch menu. Roast beef was cooked to perfection and the salmon starter was very tasty. I eat at Metropolitan often and have never had a bad meal. Their set menus are very reasonable.

Had the pleasure of afternoon tea shared with my wife. Everything went to plan and we were expertly attended by Pete who made sure our day out was memorable.

Anoche, mi esposa y un amigo vinieron a Metropolitan en busca de una mesa para 3 para tomar solo unas copas, un chico joven llamado Josh que parecía extremadamente ocupado, danos la hora del día para entrar y ordenar, (puedo agregar que es bueno ver que esta compañía y siguiendo el sistema de seguimiento y rastreo) Josh nos hizo sentar y las bromas comenzaron cuando explicamos el menú de cócteles, este tipo se ríe y es uno de los pequeñitos más geniales, nos tenía histéricos desde el ¡Vamos, mi esposa y yo definitivamente volveremos para un cóctel más increíble y bromear con Josh!En general, fue una atmósfera increíble para un miércoles por la noche y, lo que es más importante, una experiencia para recordar con Josh yendo más allá de lo que se requería para coronar nuestra noche libre.

Yo y mis amigos vinimos a tomar unas copas el domingo y Josh nos cortó, debo decir que él establece el estándar para cualquier camarero en cualquier compañía, la combinación de su buena apariencia, encanto y conocimiento sobre el cóctel es muy, muy buena para escuche mientras nos ayudaba a elegir porque estábamos indecisos, el domingo por la noche fue una noche muy ocupada en Metropoliton y Josh todavía nos dio la hora del día, nos ayudó a explicar los cócteles y nos los trajo en 10 minutos. ! ! ! !¡DEFINITIVAMENTE VAMOS A ESTAR DE VUELTA! ! ! !Gracias de nuevo josh x

Attentive service, we had not booked for drinks but were lucky enough to get a table in the outside square area. The space has been extended allowing for social distancing. Service was prompt and attentive and plenty social distancing measures in place across the venue.

Wasn’t very busy to start but as the day went on to 5 got busier. Good social distancing and cleaning observed. Had a lovely meal, Rosé wine was nice and super cocktails. Felt like we had returned to civilisation. Staff were really friendly.

Came here on a Tuesday evening and sat outside of the restaurant, under the lights and enclosure of Merchant Square. Excellent nacho tatties served with haggis and whisky (great, different taste), sea bass and the beef. Good friendly staff, good service, reasonably priced.

Hace poco fuimos a tomar un sábado por la tarde. Dos miembros del personal eran nuevos o no estaban entrenados por falta total de conocimiento. Fui al bar y esperé más de 15 minutos, el personal se centró en las bebidas para las mesas, sin reconocimiento. Los estándares han bajado una bebida cuando finalmente se sirvieron y se fueron, no volverán apresuradamente

Tuve el privilegio de llegar a DJ aquí anoche y qué privilegio fue. El lugar se ve increíble y muy limpio. El personal de servicio no podría ser más útil. Definitivamente uno de los mejores lugares en los que he estado en mucho tiempo. Me encanta el hecho de que la bebida que venden no es barata y desagradable, es fresca y se convierte en una delicia.Gracias a nuestro barman Ben y al gerente de servicio Jordan por hacer que yo y los invitados se sientan tan cálidamente bienvenidos. Definitivamente recomiendo este lugar para cualquier función.

Not really my idea of a bar (a bit pricey and lacking in atmosphere) but great for food if you get a Groupon or Itison deal, especially if you get a table upstairs. Staff are really nice and efficient, food is lovely. Definitely recommended.

Having read the good reviews I almost feel as though we were in a different restaurant!! But then maybe we were treated differently as we were on a “Deal”. Arrived after booking Sunday Lunch deal - 2 courses and bottle of wine. Place was busy and we were squashed into a table where we were almost part of the other diners party !!! Staff member (manager ?) didn’t speak - just pointed to the table - we then waited 15 minutes to be given menus and our drinks order taken. Food took another 15 minutes - tasted ok - nothing great - soup was bland !) Service from the managers/supervisors was awful. Waiting staff did their best - even apologising for delays. Management could take a leaf out of their book. Even when we went up to the bar - manager didn’t have a word to say whilst arranging our cheque. Honestly - it might have been inexpensive (£25 for 2 courses and wine) but there’s better deals out there. Avoid !!!

Went for lunch with bottle of bubbly or wine for two, your choice, staff friendly, beautiful inside, we were sat in seating area facing forecourt.. Would have preferred to sit inside during the day but I'm sure this area would be lovely at night with all the lights :-) .., I opted for fish & chips as main, fish was a bit bland, the chips were nice tho, starter was lovely.. Would I rush to go back? Maybe not.

On a wet and windy early evening, Merchant Square is perfect to stay warm and enjoy a drink. We stopped by for pre dinner cocktails and enjoyed the comfy surroundings and attentive service. Great cocktails, so much choice. Enjoy!

This is quite a busy bar and noisy inside but there are seats and tables in an open plan part of the bar that is more chilled and you can hear each other.talk. Service is really good.
