Atmosphere you could cut with a knife. Moody woman who seemed to be in chargeof the garden centre shouting at some customers! Escaped to the cafe only for the atmosphere to be also present there. The staff were very quiet when shouty manager came in with a angry face. The food we had was cold and the staff distracted. It was clean and tidy but not comfortable because of management

Visited as we were in the area. We found a table and checked the menu, appeared to have a varied choice but we decided on fish and chips which came with bread and butter, tarter sauce, peas and a pot of tea. Service - this was good, lady who served me was polite and attentive. Had to wait about 15 minutes but no issues at all. 10/10 Food - this came out piping hot which was fantastic. The fish was cooked well and was tasty. The chips, like a lot of places, awful! Frozen chips should be a no go in any establishment, buy fresh potatoes chips, they taste so much better. The bread was of poor quality, dry on the crusts and poor quality margarine. As a whole, it was ok but the bread and chips really let the meal down and charging £18 is steep for poor quality products. 6/10 Cleanliness The place was very clean, the staff ensured tables were cleared quickly and wiped down. A spill was quickly dealt with. 10/10 This is a lovely place but would benefit from an additional log burner, it was comfortable and the staff were attentive. I would return but certainly won't order frozen chips with fish at the £18 price. It's totally way too much for the quality not delivered

We ordered two panini, s, two pepsi max and two mars crispies. It was £37, we waited over 40 minutes and had to ask were the paninis were, no wonder this place was not busy. The paninis were lukewarm, very dry cheap ham and cheese, hardly any in the sandwick, the chicken one was minus the sauce, very poor food more a waste off money. Don, t bother eating here food is bad and kitchen service is very slow, and prices are extortionate.

Lovely coffee and cake but it was very cold in the restaurant and it took the shine off coffee with a friend. There is a log burner but it made no real difference to the temperature.

I often eat out for breakfast during the week and I really enjoy a fry up but I won’t be returning to this establishment. Very expensive breakfast when you take into account the quality. Food looked just thrown on the plate. The sausages had a pink tinge in the middle so out of caution I didn’t eat them. The bacon was okay and so were the mushrooms if not slightly tepid. Beans and toast are… beans and toast. You can’t go wrong there but once again the beans were somewhat tepid. Black pudding didn’t taste cooked. I struggled to finish it. Tomato’s were forgot. The coffee was pleasant and so were the staff. I’d struggle to recommend this place however. 2 stars!

Overpriced, low quality and food took ages to come. I was not surprised to see similar reviews critiquing the sausages and other breakfast items. 3 tiny tasteless rusky sausages overcooked and put in between some cheap Asda-Value bread and even more ghastly marj. We had breakfast with some friends over the weekend and ended up leaving more than half. It was Just simply not good enough to justify the prices. Other breakfast items were equally disappointing. We Will not be returning especially when another cafe in the village has much better value and quality.

Flying visit for breakfast. Ordered two sausage sandwiches and two regular coffees- £18.50 later we received lukewarm chipolata sausages slapped between two slices of thin bread!! Three measly chipolatas that were rubbery and lost in the bread. Usually sausage sandwiches are in bread cakes? But the bread wasn’t even cut fresh, it was stale bread from a precut loaf. Absolutely appalling. Lethargic staff seemed disinterested. Will not be back.

This is a reply to a message from the manager who states they have not made any mistake Firstly on the day of booking the Afternoon tea was £17.95 so as a deposit was taken, then the price at the point of booking should be honoured unless the customer was notified of the price increase before the booking date and given the option of agreeing with the new price or cancelling the booking with a refund of the deposit paid. Secondly the price you have advertised on your website for an Afternoon tea is still showing £17.95 (I have a screenshot that shows this) So the comment you made stating that NO mistake was made, then I totally disagree. At this point in time you are still advertising Afternoon tea at £17.95 This is obviously not your fault, how could it be? After all you are only the manager a person responsible for controlling or administering an organization And finally. Thank you for agreeing to refund the difference for the so called “No mistake made” However despite having a full breakfast with my wife at your Cafe on 3 occasions and having an Afternoon tea which cost me over £60, we won’t be eating with you at any point in the near future. Dictionary Definitions from Oxford Languages manager noun 1. a person responsible for controlling or administering an organization or group of staff. "the manager of a bar" Similar: executive head of department line manager supervisor principal administrator head boss

The last two times here been a bit disappointed. Great coffee but not cheap. I love my scones but recently they are so dry they just fall apart. And the bacon sandwich would have been better with a bit more bacon in it. Put me off going anymore .

I have been many times and enjoyed the food, so decided to take my friend who is recovering from multiple operations. She needed to use the bathroom so went to wait outside disabled toilet . We stood with another lady who was waiting . Then I’m guessing the manager (tall man white shirt) walked past and in a very rude tone said toilets are outside these are for disabled and staff ! I felt extremely embarrassed for my fiend and the other lady as we both said not all disability is visible . Maybe think about how you speak to people . I certainly won’t go back not that I expect it will concern him.

This cafe is my go-to place for light lunches with my small family when I’m in the area visiting family. The food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff are all a real bonus. There is a good selection of food choices depending on how hungry you are and the occasion. I like a decent portion size and feel you definitely get value for your money. They have a great range to choose from and options for vegetarians or those with dietary requirements. Nothing is too much for the staff here. It's a good establishment with a lovely relaxing atmosphere with very friendly staff who cannot do enough for you and always with a smile. I've seen several families in there, some with a very impressive afternoon tea selection which appeared jam packed with really delicious looking cakes and sandwiches. If you are passing it’s definitely worth stopping by you will not be disappointed.

So I want to give this place an amazing review (and I will) but at the same time I want to keep it a secret to make sure it doesn’t get so busy that I can’t continue to be, as I now consider myself, ‘a regular’ customer. This cafe is my go-to place for light lunches with my husband but I also go regularly with girlfriends and work colleagues who are all amazed by the food, atmosphere and friendliness of the staff when they visit for the first time. I know that they too return with others which speaks for itself I think. Great selection of food choices depending on how hungry you are and the occasion, and I am more than happy to pay the asking price for the quality home-cooked fare. I like a decent portion size and it never disappoints. They have a great range of quiches with plenty of vegetarian options and I’m looking forward to trying the Pie Thursday soon - I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. It’s a good honest establishment, what you see is what you get. It’s not trying to be what it isn’t which makes for a lovely relaxing atmosphere, but what really makes it is the wonderful, busy yet friendly staff who cannot do enough for you and always with a smile. I’ve seen several family groups there enjoying celebratory afternoon tea. They also look amazing …… I really need to get booked in for one very soon!

No wonder this place hides itself on TripAdvisor. On the surface a nice place but a funny atmosphere drips through to the cafe from the garden centre. The staff in cafe are lovely the food is passable if expensive for the servings. Spolit by garden centre stmosphere and staff. One in particular, a tall chap, seemed to strut around ignoring customers as if he owned the place. Maybe hid did😑 but no way to keep business. Won't be rushing back.

Not sure why this place has so few reviews, it was busy this morning, not packed but busy. Stopped for a pot of tea and cake part way around a bike ride this morning, it was suggested as a better alternative to the one over the road. Loved it, staff were lovely and the food came out quicky, admittedly only a pot of tea and a piece of cake. Cherry Bakewell, my usual choice in cafes on a bike ride, this was up there amongst the best. Get your selves there, it’s great. Oh, and there’s some where to lock your bike as well. They do plants apparently, but difficult to carry on my bike.

We have been here several times and the food is excellent. Called in to take my elderly father for a birthday treat. He had the best haddock and chips he has tasted-the batter been light but well cooked. All the food is made on the premises and as a result is very fresh and extremely tasty. The service is excellent with the staff being polite and chatty. Lovely cakes as well to finish off the meal or just to have a cake and coffee. There are specials on every day. I am sure we will be back again and along with my father.

Fantastic pub, with a great friendly atmosphere. The outdoor setup in summer is great with a huge outdoor marquee and loads of outdoor seating. They run great live music nights and have a large tv for sporting events. Cosy fireplace inside and dog friendly. The food is a very special addition with some amazing things on offer and the mid week specials are at a fine dining level. Highly recommended.
