very very busy booking is advised thankfully they managed to squeeze us in seated within approx 20 mins on a very busy Saturday evening so many thanks Laura for that and the staff were so rushed off their feet and a long wait on food, had some issues which were dealt with immediately by josh and sarah so many thanks for that. we will be back especially when 30% vouchers make it better with the price

Normally we go on a Sunday evening, but they have recently started to shut the kitchen earlier. This time we went on a Saturday evening - BIG MISTAKE. The table was reserved, so no problem - the wait for the food, however, was a massive problem being a ONE HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTE WAIT. Not only that, but the food was only luke-warm and the chips were completely undercooked.

Booked a table for 2pm. Arrived to find a 2 hour wait time for food. Their excuse was they never know how many people will be there. They should manage the number of bookings and not keep taking walk ins if they can't provide a service. Luckily we phoned another restaurant and had a fab experience. Won't be booking at the Stonemasons again.

Oh dear. The quality of food lets this place down. The staff here are lovely - kind and helpful even during busy times. However, the food is a step below Wetherspoons. It’s the same terrible microwaved trash but at twice the price. I can’t remember the last time I had such poor quality food at a pub. There aren’t many places to eat in the evening in Ilminster so I guess they don’t have to make an effort with the food? Would come back for a pint but will never eat here again.

We particularly sought out a Marston's Inn whilst on holiday and were not disappointed. Easy parking, warm, friendly, comfortable, clean, tidy, FOC wifi great service from Emma and Sarah and a great meal.

It was alright. Food was satisfactory but small portion (presumably to encourage adding £2 to go fractionally bigger).

All staff were friendly and were very attentive when it came to the meals with allergies. Food was lovely and hot. Would highly recommend a visit

Food okay certainly nothing special. The chairs were filthy to sit on In dyer need of a good clean.

First time we visited was on a Sunday and it was really busy and the staff were struggling to cope. Then we visited during the week and it was a completely different experience. Food was good and hot. Staff were courteous and friendly. All in all I would recommend going during the week.

Booked for 17 with relations from US. One had a very well golden retriever dog but told unable to sit in allocated area and had to sit somewhere else. The allocated seating looked exactly same as where we were sat so not a good start. Under staffed to the degree of waiting over 15 minutes for a drink. Whilst waiting at the bar a waiter dropped two full plates of food with gravy that splashed onto my coat, hair and watch-not a single apology from anyone or offer to see if I was ok. Food was not great with all 17 critical of the time waiting and that the food was only warm and I had a medium well done steak in my mixed grill was as burnt with no taste although the dog was grateful. Not very good in customer service or performance.

Stopped in for a quick meal passing through this weekend ans must say we were extremely impressed. The team were really friendly and food was hot and well presented. We have family in the area so will definitely recommend!

If you have a food allergy do not go here. Ate and almost immediately threw up in their toilets. Stick to the alcohol not the food!

Thoroughly enjoyed our meals this evening, tasty well presented and staff were helpful as always.

Unfortunately the food didn't seem freshly prepared, ordering food & drinks via the app wasn't the smoothest process for my elderly parents and the service offered on this particular day was minimal, we look forward to an improved experience on our next visit.

Had a really good experience from Kerry today whilst serving me my order. Always a good atmosphere in the stonemasons all staff always happy to talk to you. Food is always nice.

Unfortunately the food was bad. Medium steak turned out to be a cremated piece of 'something'. We normally don't complain, but this went back to the kitchen. New steak ditto. Was attributed to technical problems in the kitchen....... Received a cup of coffee as compensation because yes, you pay when ordering. Too bad because we had an excellent meal here before!

Visited a couple of days ago. We had a really lovely evening. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced and there was a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be visiting again!

Had a lovely meal with my family, staff were very friendly, food was out faster than we expected considering how busy it was, I enjoyed a cowboy burger and my partner had lasagne, can definitely recommend.

OK I guess. Very disappointed that they had run out of fish ... I was looking forward to fish and chips. We went early evening, I just can't understand why such a place could run out of fish, that has to be a staple dish (I'd have thought). Had a burger instead, a bit dry but edible. Staff pleasant and helpful, not their fault of course.

Had a brilliant date night with my partner. We arrived and was concerned that we might not have got a table with how busy it was as it was quite late on Saturday evening, but the hostess Sarah went above and beyond to make sure that we got a table and made us feel happy and comfortable. Food was brilliant and enjoyed a few lovely cocktails.

We were served by Hannah she was very tentative and welcoming we would give her 6 stars but that wasn’t an option! Overall a great experience we will be coming back!

Terrible customer service & awful food - took over an hour for a sandwich, which wasn't edible when it finally arrived - will definitely not be going there again.

Average food( if they have any of what you want), expensive drinks, indifferent staff.. if there was somewhere else similar close round here I'd go there instead. I'm a local of more than 20 years.

Our server Sarah was lovely and provided us with everything we needed. The food came within a reasonable amount of time even though they were busy. My only complaint was the chase and potatoes pie o ordered didn't really have much filling and the music was a little loud for me.

Been here quite a few times as friends live near here. Easy to book at short notice and service is always good. They are always willing to swap food ie peas to bean’s ect. Puddings are ok but I’m not bothered maybe more choice or changing puds on menu would be good. We have been here with a group of 5 - 12 people, every time the mood is different, maybe soft calming music to drown out others talking would be good.

We left after about 10 minutes. We were given a table number to sit down at and on approaching the table another member of staff tried to tell us not to sit down when we explained the table number had been given the number by the manager he went into meltdown. Then even though we had pre-booked a table, there was almost an hour's waiting for food. There were also unusual things happening in the gents toilets. Why grown men were in there lurking with young boys I have no idea.

It was quite slow getting the food and drinks but the quality was good. Had booked a table as a romantic evening but sat in the kids section unfortunately so we were very close to a crying baby but it was busy there

We pre-booked our table, when we arrived, it was fairly busy, the barman came up to us almost immediately, which was nice and welcoming. The table we sat at was very sticky.on our previous visit ,it was the same. So staff need to clean the tables throughly. Our meal took awhile to arrive, though. It was hot and very nice. We did sit there for sometime afterwards and no one cleared our plates away. Overall though we enjoyed it

We have been visiting the stonemasons for years now, but our last visit we were absolutely disgusted with the cleanliness of the place, the food was fine but the tables were sticky, the seats were stained, the door to the toilets was so dirty you didn't want to touch it and the toilets weren't much better, a mice had been chewing under the bench seat by the door, when we pointed it out to the waitress she just shrugged.

That was my second visit. I was with my friends. Two of us ordered fish and chips. Fish served for me was so crispy that couldn't find and juicy bits in it. What a disappointed. Our table didn't have all the dishes in similar time. I can understand that because there was lots of customers. One of my friend after while finally got her fish and chips. It was totally different! Nice, thick piece of cod.

Wow, I had gone off this place for a while but we went back tonight and the food was delicious. The kids wolfed down their pizzas. The steak on the mixed grill and surf and turf was a great piece of meat and cooked exactly as asked. Mac and cheese was delicious, as were the garlic bread, onion rings and breaded mushrooms. Sarah, our server went above and beyond and nothing was too much trouble for her, even though the place was heaving. The only negative was that they had run out of bbq chicken wings. Hence the 4* for food. I hope this standard continues as we really did have a lovely meal with great service.

Being part of a Marstons franchise, I thought this place would be a good place to go with the family at the start of the summer holidays. Upon arrival, you could clearly see that the place was understaffed, no order in getting tables cleaned, and wiped down ready for new guests to sit down and look at the menu, we got told to find any table and sit down but didn't get told there was specific tables that was reserved. Didn't get told there was no mixed grill something about they had all the other steaks but no mixed grill steaks 🤔, with that being told as i was at the bar ordering a queue was forming so i rushed my decision. The food was OK but not great, quiet small portions. The burger in the picture was supposed to be a cowboy burger, I mean, depending on what context you're using, the phrase "cowboy" I guess it lives upto it's name. Chairs and other seating were dirty, ripped, and not well looked after. All around, the skirting was chipped off paint, and the toilets were disgusting. This is the kind of place you'd go for a few cheap pre drinks before going out, but I don't think I'd return again for food

As a group of friends we went to have food and watch Abba Ice, an Abba tribute band. They were absolutely amazing. Not only did they sing Abba but they sang other artists songs too all with added humour. The ladies were sensational, they really entertained us. I would highly recommend them.

ABBA night was great, great food and music. Many thanks to Sarah, nick, hannah and Amy for working so hard. Will definitely be back soon.

First time in Ilminster Marston's pub and I had a kids size stone baked pizza called The little Piggy well of course I have to have pineapple 😁. My partner brought me here as he said that he always gets a perfect rare medium steak meal & pint on his work overnight shift. I have to say that 4 of the female staff fell in love with our dog Skye and he was in his element as he was given treats by all of the them. Couldn't have asked for a more welcoming evening here. Thank you for making myself and our Skye very welcome .

Laura was amazingly accommodating. We had a large party and a dog thrown in. She sorted it all out for us - great service.
