Stonecross Manor Hotel in South Lakeland

Very comfortable great decor, lovely atmosphere, food was good but as per usual lakes prices which were high, staff were very friendly

We didn't make it to our friend's birthday party in Ambleside because of the snow, but we had a pleasant stay overnight. Ordered room service and had an excellent meal. The room was small but clean and comfortable, and fine for us.

We signed up for this when we booked our week in Kendal back in the summer - we like to get out on New Year's Eve for something special. These events are normally booked out well in advance so we played it safe. The dinner was very good - the soup starter was excellent and I probably had one of the best risottos ever - very rich, full of mushrooms and butter. The duck liver parfait wasn't really a parfait but the halibut was good and the cheese and biscuits were very generous indeed. The downside was that not everyone was as enthusiastic to book as we were - there were only 4 tables in the restaurant so we left early - not quite the bash we had hoped for. Service was excellent and the hotel went to a lot of trouble to make the evening special - sadly, no one pitched up for the party,

Highly recommend breakfast and evening meals here. Cooking to a very high standard. There is a good choice on the menu

We spent two days of our three week road trip around England at this hotel. We are from Canada so we were very impressed with the outside of this place. We had some good and bad impressions of it. The lobby was very “ posh” feeling to us “commoners”lol. There was soft music in the background and the atmosphere was calm. This wasn’t what we were looking for because we prefer old quaint but that is just our taste. We’re all different. The front desk was polite which I guess is fine but there again, we prefer a bit more conversation to make us feel more welcome. Just saying. Not criticizing. My husband was a happy camper because they had a lovely pool and spa and it was very clean. He went twice a day and gave us both a break from being 24/7 for two weeks. 😜 Hey, I try to give honest reviews. Everything was lovely but I have to be very honest here if I’m going to be of help. If you are on the “larger side” you won’t find the rooms big enough. At least ours wasn’t. We are average sized and we couldn’t stand up at the same time and walk around the end of the bed! A bit of a pain. Also, if you have trouble walking like I do, the elevator is very tiny. We both had a small backpack on ( this was our luggage) and when we got in, the door hit my arm closing, and I couldn’t turn around to push the up button! A larger person would have to go up alone. The really odd thing was that there no towel racks in the bathroom. This was a first in all our travels. With two days of towels, hanging them over the bathtub was getting a bit damp and crowded. Very strange. Would we recommend this place.? Yes , but just be aware that it’s not great for anyone with mobility problems. As with almost every place we stayed in( eleven of them) trying to have a shower was very scary as there were no safety bars to hang on to.

Stayed at SCMH while on a course. Good covid precautions, extremely friendly and accommodating staff, clean rooms and excellent breakfast.

Nos alojamos aquí en nuestro viaje al norte de Escocia. Era de fácil acceso desde la M 6 y nos proporcionó una cama cómoda, excelentes instalaciones de baño y un desayuno agradable para ayudarnos a recargar las pilas. A la habitación le vendría bien una mano de pintura fresca en un par de lugares, pero el baño se sentía recientemente renovado y tenía una ducha excelente para disfrutar. El distanciamiento social fue bien respetado por la mayoría, pero eso fue por otros huéspedes y no por culpa del hotel. Me quedaría aquí de nuevo.

Acabo de regresar de una estancia de una noche en Stonecross Manor y definitivamente puedo decir que volveremos. Puntos de desinfectante de manos alrededor del hotel y marcas en el piso que le recuerdan que mantenga la distancia. Encantadora bienvenida a la llegada y registro muy rápido como recibir un correo electrónico de antemano. Las habitaciones eran espaciosas y tenían un sueño agradable, las habitaciones se desinfectaron de antemano. La comida de la noche fue deliciosa, a pesar de que no habíamos reservado una mesa, pudimos comer en el salón, definitivamente recomendaría las hamburguesas. Nadar en la piscina, que era una temperatura encantadora, era perfecta. El desayuno era delicioso también definitivamente recomendaría este hotel. Precioso tiempo de relax.

¡Un hotel muy básico en el que nos alojamos un fin de semana, está en un buen lugar, la cama era cómoda y el desayuno y el servicio del personal era bueno! ¡Pero hubo algunas cosas leves que no estaban a la altura de la piscina que estaba fría! Apenas había espacio para guardar ropa en las habitaciones, un asa se caía de la bañera y debajo del inodoro estaba sucio, el menú no cambiaba por la noche, por lo que era un poco caro para nuestro gusto

Decidimos un descanso de último minuto a Kendal mientras hacía buen tiempo y elegimos este hotel en base a las críticas de TA. Fue perfecto. Fácil de encontrar, en la carretera principal hacia Kendal, a unos 15 minutos caminando (cuesta abajo) hacia la ciudad y con mucho estacionamiento. No volví a usar el automóvil hasta que nos fuimos, muchas caminatas desde el hotel, pero también un excelente servicio de autobuses a las ciudades cercanas.El hotel es un edificio antiguo pero modernizado recientemente y con estilo. Todo estaba limpio y cómodo, los baños eran de primera clase, aunque tenían dificultades para encontrar el punto de afeitar, integrado en el borde del espejo. Cama muy comoda. Disfrutamos del desayuno, con mucha variedad y soberbia porrage.Usé el área de la piscina, parece nuevo y tiene jacuzzi, así como una sala de vapor y bonitos vestuarios.Todo el personal fue muy amable y el hotel en general está muy bien dirigido.Definitivamente regresaremos.

Me alojé en este hotel mientras nos dirigíamos a Escocia, señora amable en recepción cuando nos registramos, la habitación era agradable y limpia, sin embargo, hacía mucho calor para dormir sin aire acondicionado ni ventilador, comimos en el restaurante tanto para la cena como para el desayuno. , los cuales fueron muy buenos. En general, una buena estancia, lástima la temperatura en la habitación

This hotel has been totally refurnished and is now really nice.Had lunch there and could not fault it.

Very unwelcoming when I asked if a non-resident could have breakfast. Said yes, then not sure. Hostile in tone and appeared to be frightened of asking the manager. Is my money not good enough?

Excelente relación calidad-precio.Tuvimos una estancia corta en Kendal y encontramos las habitaciones limpias y ordenadas, con una televisión inteligente y un moderno baño en suite. Los limpiadores visitaban todos los días y encontramos a todo el personal amable, acogedor y educado. También utilizamos la piscina y las instalaciones de spa, y disfrutamos mucho relajándonos allí. Recomendaría. Gran hotel en una gran ubicación.

We needed somewhere to stopover to break a long journey north to south. Stumbled across Stonecross in the app and we are really pleased with the choice. They had adjoining rooms which is our preference as a family of four so we all get some privacy and sleep. The rooms we are a nice size and the hotel has been recently been refurbished. It’s in a great location with several highly rated restaurants in easy walking distance. It also has a good restaurant within the hotel. Plenty of parking (around the back and out of sight) and a pool finish off a great specification. The best bit is the price. It was very good value for money in comparison to other options in the area. We will definitely use this hotel again. Easy access from the M6!

Booked this hotel for our wedding day and night when we booked we where offered the Bridal Suite This was a total disgrace split bath panels mild round bath,sink toilet ( should you require photo evidence I have this) The Hotel said sorry and refunded the room tariff It is nearly 12 months since but never any contact since.So please if your considering booking this hotel view the room before you book

The staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions that we needed to ask.Food was very high standard.

Today I used a Gift Voucher for Afternoon Tea for two here. We were very warmly welcomed, offered tea or coffee, and directed to our table. The whole atmosphere was warm and enjoyable.The sandwiches arrived swiftly, crusts removed, neatly cut and well presented. I think there were fifteen substantial sandwiches with six different fillings. My husband and I were both given a cake stand with very tempting cakes and a fruit scone with cream and a small jar of jam.Little things matter, my cafetiére was the size one would normally get for two people, and my husband had a large pot of tea. Staff, including the manager checked that we had everything we needed. We also had the option of a 'doggy bag'.What I particularly appreciated is that Afternoon Tea commences from 12 noon. My husband has diabetes and cannot have 'treats' mid-afternoon, so we were able to substitute this as a meal. Great!For £30 for two of us, this is very good value for money. Excellent food, attentive but not intrusive staff, and a lovely place to visit.

Friendly Staff, good food, nice town close by only 15 minutes walk, Swimming pool steam and jucuzzi too.... great value

Newley refurbished restaurant so everything is new. Stylish decor, maybe too many ‘stags’ but that could be me!

Staying at the hotel we decided to eat in their restaurant. We are so pleased that we did. The restaurant has been newly refurbished and looks great. The quality & presentation of the food was excellent, as well as the service.

Having read the reviews we were a bit worried about the rooms and the food. We arrived at 3pm on Saturday 30th December and were greeted by a lovely lady called Rosie who booked us in very quickly. Our room was very clean and warm and as promised we had a lovely 4 poster bed. We decided to use the swimming pool and sauna which we were shown around again by Rosie. The water was very warm and the jaccuci very hot. Our evening meal, which was part of the deal was excellent. We shouldn't have worried about the food as it was very tasty and beautifully presented. The newly refurbished restaurant is decorated lovely and has a very relaxing feel to it.

The restaurant was very nice with first class service in the evening and at breakfast. Lovely surroundings and spotlessly clean.

Well if you are wanting a decent afternoon tea then look no further - they give you a real good selection and your not left hungry as they give you plenty too I always take home a doggy bag! They do weddings and other events and you can even book a room to stay over.

Private party in a private dining room . The food had been pre ordered . The food was good and pleasantly served . Everyone was satisfied

Situated just off the Kendal by pass - thus you do not have to negotiate the town centre horrendous one way system. Loads off car parking . Food pretty good, not " Cordon Bleu", but certainly very acceptable.

The food is very reasonably priced. I had soup which was nice enough followed by Steak pie which was rather dry and the pastry was very tough, finished with plain old ice cream.

Had a fabulous afternoon tea with my best friend. Fresh and lots of lovely food. The cakes are amazing. Try the fruit tart mmmmmmmmm will go back again and again even when not on a offer. Staff brill. Lovely Afternoon

We ate from the set menu which gave a decent choice - and starters had 3 vegetarian options (only one choice for main).

We were there for a society AGM. The buffet was plentiful, varied and generally of a high standard. Would certainly encourage me to eat in the restaurant if in the area again.

My mum took a friend for a birthday lunch treat. The food was cold and inedible - a truly disappointing experience all round

The waitress/bar lady on Friday was attentive, fun and informative. The food for lunch was really very good and plentiful, and value for money. Choosing from the set menu a reasonable choice was available.

The lunch menu is very reasonable in terms of price (10pounds for 2 courses and 12.5 for 3 courses). The food was fresh and tasty. I definitely recommend!

Had a late Sunday lunch booked for 1.30 was not seated until around 2pm. Food ordered ok but seemed to take forever to arrive. Drinks had been ordered before we arrived at the table but only just arrived before the food. The waiter was Italian and I have to say he seemed to understand English, but he was very hard to understand as his accent was very thick. He also seemed to think the only way to understand us was to stand very closely and get right into our faces to say anything. The roast potatoes were crisp although they lacked any real amount of colour. In fact my Mother commented that she was unsure as to whether they were in fact they were frozen packet potatoes(I was unsure but thought they were real). The beef I had was very flavourless although it had a very nice texture. Deserts were ordered once lunch had been finished, however as we were waiting for this the waitress approached us with the bill despite we were still awaiting food! When desert finally arrived it was ok although my ice cream had large chunks of ice within it.

whilst staying at the hotel we enjoyed our evening meal here and the food was very good and plentiful. We chose from the set menu and we were not disappointed and there was plenty of food. Well worth the money we paid

If you have the time, ask for the Afternoon Tea! Lots of delicious sandwiches, cakes and sweet things. The Lemon Posset was divine.
