2nd time here, Still the same amazing service by the lovely staff. Had the Roast Chicken Sunday Lunch with the extra large Yorkshire Pudding and the trimmings, Definitely value for your Money.

Under new ownership. Good food. Good service. Only downside for me is the meals are far too big. Attractive environment. Big car park.

Booked early for a easter sunday lunch and at last minute got a unexpected guest ..rang as soon as they opened to see if could add a extra person on and the young lad who answered was very quick in answering that they were fully booked (within a second ) i explained that i wudnt mind even if they were just to pull a chair up .and again within a second responded that they didnt have a chair ..I dont believe for one minute that every chair in there was been sat on and how would he know this so quick ,customer service was shocking from him.he did not try to help or even give me the time of day . .Resulting in us having to cancel our lunch there .We eat there very often at least once a week .very disappointed as never had any problems before .

Extremely satisfied with my experience and if you order the battered haddock and chips in an adults portion, expect a sizeable whale. Wonderful lunch Would definitely go back again.

The chips are the best I've had in Durham so far. Their Sunday Lunch is incredible and the portions are more than generous for all the food they make. Great selection of desserts. Staff are very friendly and it wasn't loud like many other places in Durham are.

Regularly come here to catch up with friends and we always have “fat chips”! Very relaxed atmosphere and very tasty food at a reasonable price

Food was excellent, friendly and helpful service. Our group was expected to be more than actually arrived and the staff rearranged a table for us without any issues.

The standard is good pub quality, nothing too exciting but all the main options are covered - burgers, pizzas, steaks. Our food was all well cooked, with decent serving size, and well presented. The downside was the level of organisation. From sitting at our table, we waited 1 hour until the food was served. I had to prompt once for the order to be taken, and once to chase our food. The excuse was that the restaurant had suddenly become busy; it didn't look like that to us (c. 20 tables, about 50% capacity). And if you're expecting such numbers as claimed, then for goodness sake make sure more staff are on shift. The actual staff were responsive and friendly, but this didn't make up for the excessive delay. Nor were we offered a discount due to the wait, e.g. a free round of drinks. In summary, it's a better than average pub, but when you book get a commitment that they aren't understaffed and that you'll be served in a reasonable timeframe.

Really nice, friendly pub with great food that takes dogs. The menu was pretty extensive and covers both pizza/ pasta/ burgers and more unusual and interesting options. Lots of traditional desserts and I was impressed that even the custard was homemade.

A friend invited me to the Stonebridge Inn, promising that "they have wonderful food and enormous portions. You will not leave hungry." I went there for the Sunday roast, and everything was delicious. The turkey was juicy and savoury, the vegetables were perfectly cooked, and the Yorkshire pudding was the best (and biggest) I've ever had. But the real highlight was the sticky toffee pudding, which melted in my mouth and was accompanied by a delicious custard. I can't speak to their status as a pub, but the bar looked beautiful and well-stocked, and the servers were very attentive, so I have high hopes. The prices are very reasonable for what you're getting, so I'm happy to recommend the Stonebridge Inn. The food is wonderful, the portions are enormous, and you will not leave hungry.

Went for a meal on the Saturday night for the first time it was that good we went back on the Sunday and had a roast dinner fabulous

Food was very average. My bolognaise potato boats had no flavour and even my chips were very bland. Unfortunately none of us thought the food was anything other than average. On the plus point the portion sizes were large. Nice enough venue but very dark where we were sat, away from others which contributed to the lack of atmosphere.

The staff were friendly and provided a professional service. The food was delivered promptly and was of an excellent quality. A very enjoyable experience. Well done!

Lovely pub, good selection of beers, super friendly staff, and the food is plentiful and a good price. Portions were very big. Ours was delicious. I had the Yorkshire pud wrapped beef. It had a vast amount of sliced beef in it.

This was such a lovely welcoming place, the staff all chatty and friendly! My family and I had a lovely time and the variety of the food was wonderful. There really was a dish to suit everybody's taste. Will be returning!

I had the burger and chips. Actually a fun combination with chicken too. But the burgers felt a bit supermarket TBH, so a little disappointing overall. The place was popular, and the service was slow. It was hard to catch a waiter's eye. But they were accurate with the order and smiled. The Sunday roasts looked LARGE.

It was our first visit after just moving upto meadowfield,it came highly recommended by a friend of mine,the food was excellent,i had the mixed grill and my wife had the haddock an chips wow!!! Both cooked to perfection and served up looking great on the plate.waittress and barstaff were friendly smiley and helpfull,looking forward to returning very soon.thanks guys

We’re not from this area but had an appointment in Durham so Googled places nearby. We had an hour and a half spare, plenty of time (or so we thought) to grab some food. Long story short, there was only a couple of tables of people in so wasn’t busy. We had finished our drinks and food still hadn’t arrived. Conscious that our appointment time was getting closer, we asked a couple of times how long it would be and we’re told it was ‘getting plated up now’. Queue another 10 minutes wait and still no food, we had to ask for it to be put into takeaway containers so we could eat it on the way. Considering that we had waited just under an hour, and the burgers were £15 each - all I can say is it was a complete rip off and disappointment. The containers were opened as soon as we got in the car, portions were ridiculous and chips weren’t even hot and tasted reheated. Not good at all.

As always the staff are lovely and friendly, helpful and attentive. However, a few weeks ago i attended and food wasnt great but didn't review until a second negative experience. One of us ordered the stonebridge burger which used to be 2 succulent homemade burgers, a chicken breast, crispy bacon and cheese. This time it has 2 dalepack steaks, a strip of chicken and bacon with cheese and sauce. It was awful. The gammon was a good size but cooked badly. The pulled beef lasagne was lovely as usual but as it's prepared in advanced, it would be hard be get wrong. I don't think I'll be back which is a shame as the staff are so lovely and part of it is really dog friendly. Had one too many bad meals there now. It used to be good. Such a shame 🫠

Fantastic Sunday lunch, more than I could manage. Really enjoyed it. I had Pork but best of all there was some proper cracknel. Would definitely recommend this place.The staff is very good. Just go there.

This pub is local to where I live and I have been a number of times because of good food and more importantly the gluten free options on the menu, however on this occasion I was presented with a new menu which did not have any gluten free options on it, I queried this with the waitress who said that they had a new menu that had been produced quickly and that eventually there would be gluten free options on it, not sure if I believe that?, I was very disappointed to hear this as I was looking forward to my favourite gluten free meal and to be honest I would have left the pub if we hadnt already ordered/received drinks, the waitress pointed out dishes that were gluten free (not many) and I selected the hunters chicken which was tasty but I thought the piece of chicken was small, my partner got the yorkshire pudding wrap which again was tasty but wasnt a big portion and he paid a whopping £16 for it! More than a sunday dinner and there wasnt much on his plate! It would appear that the prices have gone up on the new menu but personally I dont think the portions justify paying that amount! I would eat there again but unfortunately because of no gluten free options I will be going to places where I know there are more options for me.

It was my special birthday. We come for steak night . The best part of the night was so lovely staff. The steak was awful so fatty . The peppercorn sauce was cold , and we paid extra for that . Good value if you get a meal you could enjoy . Starter steak and drink . We had arranged to come on Sunday for lunch but will go somewhere else. So sad when it’s on our doorstep . Very very disappointing.

Good food deals during the weekdays

Had passed this pub on numerous occasions but had never ventured in. Decided to go here after having booked a table at another venue some 15 miles away but didnt stay as they were having building works done whilst still serving customers. So glad we did. Lovely pub, friendly attentive staff. Food was excellent Hubbie ordered fish and chips which was huge and I had the chargrilled chicken. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert. Slightly pricey for a large glass of wine but that was my only issue. We will certainly return but maybe just have a lite bite next time so there is room for dessert

A regular visitor to this wonderful pub. Dropped in on the off chance of a table & was seated straightaway. Had my all time favourite - mince & dumplings (cheese & red onion). Great food at a great price. Our waitress was so helpful & friendly - thank you!

We went for a meal here since it was just around the corner from our Air B & B. To our surprise the food selection was fantastic. So much nicer than the noisy loud areas by the City Center. This place was calm and peaceful. Excellent food. Full Bar. Free parking plus ability to carry on a conversation without loud music blaring. We’ll be back!

Been for Sunday lunch today. My husband and I both had medley of meats which were beautiful. Staff were also extremely pleasant.

Took my mother out for lunch and called in at this ph to try the 2 x £20 lunchtime meals.We sat at a table beside the window and ordered our drinks whilst looking at the menus.We ordered a fish bites,chips and mushy peas and a bacon/cheese burger with chips and coleslaw.The food when it arrived 20 mins later was very nice with real chios that were well done and very tasty for us.Portion sizes were what you would expect for meal deals but was worth the money.The service was very friendly from two young waitresses. Would we return - most definitely.

No cod..had to have haddock.. chips were burned and greasy..fish was greasy..mushy peas were cold..tea was warm..tables were sticky..young girl who served us was lovely..got Friday fish deal ..and extra drinks whole bill came to £35 and pence

first time here for a while but omg not disappointed, I got Gammon egg and chips, the gammon was like a horses saddle, my wife had fish and chips the fish was huge too only downside were a few bones,table service was excellent no need to go to the bar, even after the meal in the beer garden, excellent staff nothing too much trouble. Food one of the nicest mince and dumplings ever had. Was six of us 4 had it. The other 2 had fish bites and gammon looked really nice and service was really good. Nice and polite waitresses.

Lovely building. The buffet we had was excellent. The coffee they served was ghastly, a real let down, cheap and nasty. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

First time I have ever wrote a Tripadvisor review. We went in for family Fathers day Sunday lunch, 4 adults and 2 children, the youngest being 1 and half years old. We waited 40 minutes before anyone came over to take a drinks order as we were told that they would take them at the table rather than going to the bar. We then waited a further 35 minutes before anyone came over to take our food order, so over 1 hour in before we had ordered any food. The food took a further 20 minutes to come out, we all had Sunday lunch, so nothing out of the ordinary. When it did come out, we were told the vegetables would be out soon, but we had to wait a further 5 minutes before they arrived. We asked several times during our time there when will someone take our orders as the 2 grandsons were becoming restless especially the youngest, but were told someone will be over soon, which they weren't. I appreciate it was busy due to being Fathers day, but obviously you need to resource accordingly and we had booked like many others so its not like it was due to walk ins. If it had not been Fathers day I would have walked out after 30 minutes and gone somewhere else due to the wait. Overall food was nice tasting, but not the warmest and in all honesty we couldn't be bothered to ask for it to be warmed up with all the delays previously. A nice occasion out with family was spoilt slightly by the service. We have been many times before over the years and never had any complaints but don't think we will be rushing back for a while.

Tremendous value for money. We had the Sunday roast and it was near faultless. More food than we can get through, big eaters take note. How exactly do they bake a Yorkshire pudding the size of a skyscraper. Service was adequate and the ambiance wont win any prizes. Go and gorge !

Great warm welcome drinks ordered efficiently and when delivered the perfect pint of Black Sheep As a Wednesday night took up the offer of 2 starters 2 Steaks & 2 drinks £34 This was great value, very tasty and well cooked steak. Amazingly not tough at all and great accompaniments like mushrooms onion rings cooked to perfection and great chunky chips What really makes this place are the staff that are very attentive, one young lady impressed me so much she is a credit to the business and you could see she wanted to work here Top marks well done to whole team including Chef we will be back

Booked in for Sunday lunch. Had our table changed - at our request, nothing was too much trouble and the food was once again fabulous. Compliments to the chef, to every member of staff and especially to Sophie, always had a lovely smile to greet you with and more than happy to serve. Won’t go anywhere else for a Sunday roast now! Cheese colly, turnip peas cabbage Carrots all was hot and tasty lovely meal friendly staff and quick service what more could you want thank you 😊

Great place for a meal. I took my grandaughter during school holidays. It was a warm day and their flower beds were in full bloom. I sometimes meet up with friends here for lunch too as the menu has a good variety and the food doesn't dissapoint.

Was down in Brancepeth for a training course in the village hall (beautiful building in a beautiful area) and some where staying near here and said the food was good so we went here on our last night. 2 of us got the piri piri chicken kebab, one got the hunters chicken and the other got a pizza. All was good but the kebab was a bit on the dry side, it could do with a bit more of a sauce, either a more runny style red kebab sauce or a cooling yoghurt/cucumber one. It was still a really nice meal. The staff were lovely, the venue was beautiful and if in was in the area I'd go back and try the coconut chicken curry next time.
