Lovely hotel, choice of two restaurants very attentive friendly staff.

Went for a wedding, great place good facilities, good food and staff

Stayed here for one night and instantly regretted it as soon as I started the long walk to the room. Very dated look. Once in the room it was small with an on-suite. No access to cold water as both hot and cold taps run hot water. Water only had 2 temps either scolding or boiling so couldn’t shower or bath to freshen up in the morning and couldn’t have a coffee in the morning as the water was already hot so didn’t trust it had come from a fresh water source. Other wise it was clean. Would advise taking bottled water in case this happens in all rooms. And the bed had 2 mattresses on that made sleeping impossible

My husband and I stayed at the hotel for one night 23/4/25. We went with friends and was for a Alton towers trip. It's an ok hotel, fine for a night and is half an hour away from Alton towers. Definitely not worth what we paid for the night. It's a nice looking and very clean. The bar area is only small with limited seating area so will struggle to get a seat if busy. Leisure area; We booked this hotel mainly for the hot tub and was a bonus that it had a pool. After a long journey from Devon, we was looking forward to getting in the hot tub and relaxing but unfortunately we was unable to use it due to being cleaned at 6pm on an evening! So we popped in the pool, it wasn't cold but wasn't that warm either. We was also unaware that swimming lessons would be going on at the time we went down. So there were children having one to one lessons whilst you're trying to relax. If we had known this, we would have gone down at a different time. The whole leisure facility is a weird layout, with the front desk and a tiny gym bit being in a small room. You then have to walk between two gym machines to get the pool/changing room corridors. When we did this, both machines were in use, very awkward for both us and the people using them. Dinner & Breakfast; We had a lovely tasty evening meal in which the whole party enjoyed the food. It was a little expensive for portion size, but it was all cooked very well. Could not fault the service by the waiting staff or the barman. They were very happy to help. The cooked breakfast, on the other hand, was disgusting. Rubbery pre-cooked bacon, overcooked poached and scrabbled eggs and items left off. Would recommend dinner, but avoid breakfast!! Rooms; Our room was lovely, spacious, and clean. It had a very overwhelming smell of bleach though which was very overwhelming. The room was very cold when we got to the room but thought the room would heat up when radiator came on ect. Unfortunately when we returned to the room after dinner/drinks at 11pm-ish the room was freezing. Went to reception and they sent one of the waiters who had served us at dinner to come have a look. The radiator wasn't working so was given the option to move rooms or have a little heater. After travelling all day we just wanted to go to bed and not faff about moving rooms so went with the heater option. We had a terrible night sleep as the heater was loud, we could hear the people in the next room snoring and the room above us walking about, flushing the toilet and running the tap. When we checked out, the lady at reception didn't ask how our stay was. We raised that our heating didn't work in our room and the heater being loud as well as struggling to heat the room. The situation about why we didn't move rooms along side how we all didn't enjoy breakfast. The lady was completely disinterested, no apology, the only thing she said was that she will get the manager to look at the radiator in the room. We did not have time to ask for the manager and go through the whole thing again so ended up leaving. We rarely complain or feel the need to and especially do not like giving bad reviews. Things happen that can't be helped, it's how an establishment deals with the situation and treats its guests that we value. We didn't get the service you'd expect, including something as basic as heating then when this is raised, you're faced with a disinterest. Credit where credit is due, the evening reception, waiting and bar staff where fantastic. Due to the negative experience at this hotel we would not recommend staying here especially for the price.

Had a short stay here... although it's a 3star hotel I experienced 5 star hospitality...staff were very polite, helpful and nothing was a problem room was well decorated very clean and well equipped.reataurant we chose the saffron Indian absolutely 100%...well cooked and filling...and breakfast the following morning was excellent...poached eggs especially..again staff were polite and very helpful....this place needs to be upgraded to an absolute minimum of 4 stars...we stayed at champneys in Cheshire two weeks ago and this place put champneys to shame.....

Exceptionally clean throughout the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was very good and the grounds were spotless

Warning only serves Halal meat , nothing on menu tells you this. Gym and pool dates needs refit. Room was clean.

Stayed for 2 nights half board the food at dinner was hot and very tasty the service was excellent the breakfast was excellent also the leisure facilities were excellent will definitely stay again thanks for such an enjoyable stay hope to be back again soon

Lovley quaint hotel, great location and nice pool.

The hotel team were amazing from start to finish and made sure we had the perfect afternoon tea party for my 90 year old mum. Everything was wonderful. We were overwhelmed by how fabulous the room and china table settings looked and all 56 guests said how fabulous the food and service was . The people with special dietary needs said they’d never been so well catered for as well. The team on the day were quietly efficient and professional and so quick to address any glitches . We are so pleased we chose this hotel to hold this milestone event for mum . We did look at a large number of venues before opting for this one. We will be recommending it far and wide as will, I’m sure , all the guests who attended.

Lovely place to stay and have a peaceful weekend in the spa and pool. Nice bar and restaurant. Brilliant food

We purchased a Groupon Discount Voucher for Afternoon Tea. Food served was freshly made and delicious, with good variety of sandwiches and cakes. Enjoyed it so much, we are now returning again via Groupon to take advantage of their Sunday lunch offer. Lovely and inviting location in close proximity to Stone town centre.

We went for afternoon tea. It was booked as a gift. Very disappointed. Sandwiches were bland uninteresting and looked shop bought. As did the cakes. Service was fine, surroundings were nice but disappointing food

It might not be 5* but it’s certainly 5 star for meeting expectations. Rooms a good size, mattress could do with a topper but all good. Great value for money.

My husband is a member of the gym in the stone house hotel and has been for the last year or so. He loves to work out as it relaxes him after a hard day at work. However the last 3/4 times he has arrived to an unpleasant atmosphere. There's a lady that's there to great you at the desk but it's not what my husband is receiving its an awkward unwelcomed feeling. He has experience multiple times from this woman who I will not name for privacy reasons. My husband is very disappointed as this is a place he finds relatively relaxed and to have been questioned multiple time asking is he even a member and saying he should be paying to use the towels when the are included in the £44 membership fee he pays.

Great work and leasure stay location. Rather grand staircase great food and service.

The hotel was booked at very late notice and I am so pleased to have stayed. The service and friendliness of staff was 5 star. The bedrooms are a really good size and very well presented. A handwritten welcome note was a nice touch I nearly missed. The only issue with the room was the temperature. It was quite warm all night with no fan or aircon available and the window only opened slightly. There was also a bit of noise from the corridor and neighbouring rooms hence the rating. The hotel has some nice fitness facilities including a nice size pool. They clearly have plans to expand the facilities with plans. Good luck with this. Overall an excellent independent hotel at very good value in a good location to explore Staffordshire area. Definitely consider when in the area again.

Excellent service and an excellent hotel. Dined in one night superb food.

Rooms, service, staff and location were faultless. Bed was comfortable and rooms were extremely clean enabling a great night sleep. Food could be a little better as well as choices as for breakfast it was either bacon which I do not eat or a veg option which wasn't great however this is common and more prevalent when not in or around a big cities I've come to realise.

just had Sunday lunch here, absolutely fabulous, from the lady on reception to the staff in the garden room faultless, food is wonderful and very tasty, service was excellent, everyone was really attentive and couldn't do enough for us, many thank everyone at the Stonehouse hotel, we will be coming back, regards to you all Jim and Carole winning.

We had excellent service from the young lady on reception, she was polite and friendly and went over and beyond our expectations when we had an issue with the heating and the best is, she fixed it, thank you. Although we enjoyed our stay, what let it down was the breakfast which was only mediocre. We enjoyed a bar snack, it was delicious and the service in the bar was excellent too.

The restaurant and staff are fine from what I have seen when I have been to the hotel for meals. However, I recently paid £12 to swim. The pool is very small and I felt it was a bit dangerous as it felt overcrowded with 10 people. The water was cloudy. The changing area is small and the carpet from the pool to the changing area needs renewing. I don’t think people should be allowed to swim if they are not staying or members as it isn’t big enough and in my opinion could be dangerous.

The staff, service and food were excellent. We ate at the onsite restaurant and it was good value and good quality. The bedroom however was very dated, dark and cramped. The wardrobe was extremely old and broken and the lighting was very poor especially in the wardrobe area. I appreciate the main areas of the hotel have an old style to them but the rooms could be more modern, needs to be lighter and brighter, a bit more welcoming and not so dark and gloomy. The bathroom was more modern but the shower was either very hot or ice cold.

Inflexible refund policy despite family emergency causing a trip cancellation one week before our expected arrival date. They are in their right not to refund me or give a voucher but would expect more from a bespoke/boutique hotel looking for loyal customers over time.

Location not good unless you're getting the bus or taxi to airport. Aircon in the rooms sounded like a jet plane. Breakfast was nice.

Went to a work function. Nice hotel, friendly staff

Returned back after 4 years with my family just for the swimming pool as we really enjoyed it the last time we went. However it cost £35 for us to use whilst lots of maintenance taking place. Builders walking past on entry to pool, dust all over the floor both in the ladies changing rooms and outside. I put my coat in the lockers available and it was covered in dust! Not really anywhere to get changed with a little privacy also very small. We were told about the maintenance but didn’t realise how dirty everywhere was on entry to the pool and in the changing rooms. Pool also quite cold. Disappointed as we travelled over 20 miles to visit and left feeling a little disappointed with the cleanliness of the leisure area.

We didn't stay over this time. we arrived to see Dan Budd and I would just like to say what a great night it was. The food was lovely , staff very polite and helpful and of course Dan Budd was fantastic. Thank-you to everyone involved
