Really good food but the wait time is ridiculous

Takes 2 hours for delivery for mediocre food. 100% avoid

I had food delivered from here once and it was lovely and I mean really nice and fresh for a good price but then they went and done it! I chose to order tonight there again tonight as I work late and had to do overtime, placed my order at 10pm and all accepted and booked for there last delivery time slot they offered, get home and wait foe my meal to then get a cancellation message sent at there closing time. Too late to order elsewhere and now nothing to eat after a very long and busy day at work. I have had this from Mc Donald's, OMG desserts and Pepe's all of which I now refuse to order from, I can deal with late, early or something slightly wrong with my order but when I order 2 hours ahead and get left hungry for the night with no reason I just cant accept that kind of service.

One of my friends' opinion was that the service was rubbish and the staff had no manners. My view: Smokies Grill is an okay place to eat, however staff seemed to prioritise the online orders over the eat in orders when preparing and serving the food. This was also the opinion of other people coming in and joining the queue behind us who seemed to be regulars. For my friends and I, it was our first time eating there and we were left quite disappointed. The food was good when it finally arrived, but we were told there was a backlog of orders that needed to be cleared before new orders could be taken and so we all ended up eating at different times. One of my friends was just receiving her food after we all finished eating and, by then, she had shared someone else's so didn't even feel like eating her own! For a venue with seating for 50 people, my friends and I expected a better and faster service. Sadly, I don't think Smokies can cope under pressure and would be better off doing away with some of the seating area and installing a customer toilet and bins instead. Hopefully our next visit will be better and a lot less stressful for both us customers and the staff!

Shop looks a lot better then the other around. Ask them for fillet flame burger which they advertise out there window, but they don’t offer them in this branch staff said. Disappointed should be removed form the menu. Got 5 star food and hygiene rating form the local council. Food was fresh and service was good.

The best chicken shop in Basildon, honestly better than Nandos! Price/quality excellent

Very bad service. Was waiting literally for 75 mins just for a chicken. When asked the staff the pretend to know nothing about the order. And asked to wait for 10 mins and it was still another 25 mins. Not even any did apologise for the delay. Also food safety has been overlooked, I doubt the brushes used to paste the sauces are even food Safe as they look like normal bristle brushes.

Nasty service, food has not delivered, paid money ,not able to contact to know what really happened

I have ordered 2 hours ago and still there is no sign of the food. Tried to call them multiple times, no one is picking up. In the end, I had to order from somewhere else and had to eat in middle of my work as my lunch break was finished, I am still waiting for the food as of now. Seems like they just charged me and vanished

Got the best Wings in Basildon as far as Chicken Shops are concerned, banging value for money too, chef is passionate about his craft it seems and if all you care about is good chicken, this is the place to be.

Went in for lunch with a friend & food was absolutely amazing, the chicken melted in your mouth & fries were really lovely too. Will be going there again & highly recommend it. Very clean in there & staff very polite & friendly.

The food always takes a long time to arrive, but when a chicken burger takes that long and is still pink its a worry. To then send it back and they just cook the same piece of chicken until its too dry to eat is not good. Not the first bad experience with the food here. Thought we would give it a chance but no more.

Have been twice so far had 2 piece chicken and chips and honestly the chicken was so juicy made us go back a second time.. Then we decided on the mixed kebab again absolutely beautiful so juicy so fresh only I would change the pitta (I don't eat bread) but my other half loved filled us up we shared good portion.. Tomorrow will be third time and try something different

The lemon and herb flavouring is really nice! My food is always hot and fresh and delivery always on time. Really nice food and clean restaurant.

Taste was good but staff especially the girls on the roll must have better listening and understanding experience ( customers services) , their English is basically very poor so they should not attend the phone calls at least

Great value for money and my personal favourite is the doner wrap, tastes amazing and also looks like a burrito. Good open spaced restaurant and clean, well lit up for dinning indoors. Take away has always been an option for me with this place and I’ll always come back. Service is good, quick and you get everything you asked for!

Food was cold. Service was awful the woman and the manager on the phone were awful left things off of order when asked to rectify was told they can't send a driver out to the deliver TWO missing items. And to take it up with just eat. I wouldn't bother to order from here use the British fried chicken at Laindon train station or Wingos. Wouldn't even order a can of drink from here because it probably wouldn't arrive anyway.

Terrible service, takes over 20 minutes just to get a wrap. Wouldnt recommend if short on time!

Absolutely disgusting. Bad service took 30 minuites to come for the results of a mouldy burger. Then asked if we wanted another one. The food was cold when it come. I’m not surprised if I get food poisoning also due to the fact that I am pregnant. This is not acceptable!

Worst service ever! I had to wait 45 min for 3 Doner with chicken when I was initially told that it doesn't take more than 15 min. Rude staff who laughed when asked why it was taking so long. I will never go back to them.

They're chiken is better than Nondos. They are doing a great job. I had a whole chiken for family dinner wich comes with 2 sides and 2 drinks only for £20. I do recommend this place. 👌

Had to wait 45 minutes and there is no toilets and a little bit expensive if you want lemon chicken or peri Peri just go to Nando's same price.

The atmosphere is as great as the food by far the best chicken and kebab shop in essex I'd personally say better then nando's and half the price as them aswell. My new favourite food place! If your reading this you should definitely go and try them for yourself!

Popped in on a quiet monday night as was passing by and never tried. Only person in there and it took 40 minutes for a burger, 3 wings and chips. Turns out the order wasnt with the kitchen, then had to repeat order 3 more times along the course of cooking. Food was rushed & horrible straight in the bin, lack of care in the store Wouldnt recommend this is a simple burger and wings meal

Food was disgusting, ordered takeaway and was trying to give me half and had to wait about 15min for remaining meal. Children burger was rock hard and cold. Chips were cold.£11.48 wasted as had to throw most away. Never going there again.

Peri peri chicken is good, the beef burger was dry, the peri chicken burger I couldn’t taste the flavour as it was covered in mayo. The mixed donner isn’t worth it as you get the smallest portion, no pitta bread and was dry - £9.49 for the small box - not worth it.

This has been our familys place to meet for time now. The food is alway great and Hasan alway takes care of us. It is great value for money considering that everything is cooked to order.

This place is well worth a visit the food was great and plentiful full of flavour the staff were very friendly and helpful, it was very quiet for a Sunday but the service was first class freshly cooked food and served piping hot,plenty on the menu to choose from will be going back and reasonably priced.

Lovely food, large portions, friendly staff not badly price and wine was decent. Had takeaway once from here and ate in there tonight. Very impressed. Lamb iskender was top notch.

Ordered take out from this place, can’t say I was amazed. Food arrived cold, flavour okay but nothing special. Sorry won’t be back.

What a lovely restaurant! Lovely ambiance, great food freshly prepared and delicious. Staff we’re extremely polite and helpful. Prices are very reasonable and you can order for takeout- free delivery in 3 mile radius. Special lunch menu includes 2 courses for £7:90 is a bargain. It is so lovely to see Basildon getting new and different restaurants- so let us support them !

It was very quiet in here on a Tuesday afternoon. Very clean place, staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very nice and a reasonable price, will definitelty be back.

Took my friend for her birthday lunch she adored the Hulumi cheese and Turkish bread and dips both had lamb kebab with rice and salad food cooked fresh to order such a lovly atmosphere and friendly staff and the pineapple juice is served lovly and cold all well worth the money

Second time we have been there on a Sunday and all I can say is try it, food is amazing and staff are very friendly. The restaurant was very busy with 2 large parties but this did not have any affect on food or service which I will say again was amazing amazing amazing!! Will be back very soon

Found this place when it first opened! It has consistently been one of the best places to eat in Basildon. Staff are really polite! Food is well cooked and fresh with decent portion sizes. And the price is very reasonable for what you are getting!! 👍

We went to the Stone Grill for dinner on Saturday early evening and it was very busy. Noisy but this was a friendly buzz of customers enjoying their food. The service was reasonably prompt and we were brought drinks and complimentary pitta bread, olives salsa etc. While we waited for our starter. I had the sigara boregi my husband had the calamari. Both were freshly cooked and piping hot. We followed with lamb Shish which was substantial, full of favour and very tender. All the food was beautifully presented. The salad was crisp and fresh. If anything we could have eaten a little less but I couldn't bear to leave it.

Turned up having not booked on a busy Saturday. They looked doubtful about seating us but they pulled out the stops and we were soon seated. As it was very busy it was quite noisy but we soon contributed to the noise. Complimentary dips, onions, olives and bread. Service was a little slow for taking orders as it was so busy but we were in no hurry. The food did arrive in good time though after placing the order. Nice plate of mixed lamb and chicken shish with a fresh salad (no onions, perfect, I didn't need to pick them out for a change) with a very nice dressing and a nice portion of rice. The lamb was very tender with a good flavour. Friendly staff. A nice relaxed evening. Not going to take a point off but it's town centre location means you have to pay to park, not the restaurants fault but bad show by the car park owners charging the same rate as when ALL the shops are open.

Went for lunch with friends and they now do a lunchtime menu. We each had a starter and main. The food was lovely, the lamb and chicken we ordered was so tender. The price was reasonable and the service from the staff was wonderful. Made us feel very welcome.

Came here on a Saturday night for my work leaving do, we usually all like a Turkish resturaunt, this being new I thought we would try it. Was not disappointed everyone enjoyed they're meal, food was prompt, fresh and very tasty, only downside was price of drinks and prompting for more bread. We was a table of 10 and very well looked after by the staff. I would recommend this place, breath of fresh air in Basildon! Just need to sort out some good parking for the evening time!

Popped in for a Friday lunch with my son. We tried the calamari and humus for starters. Then we tried the kebabs (chicken and lamb). The meat was perfectly cooked. It had great flavour, it was moist and there was loads of it. All meat is cooked over charcoal to give it a beautiful smoky flavour. I finished the dinner with a traditional Turkish coffee with a Mint Turkish delight!! Overall, food was great, although waiter could have done with smiling, no facial feedback to the compliments given on the food. Waitresses were very pleasant. Restaurant decor is nice. Great restaurant for the town

We had some a great family special plus a kleftico and 2 glasses Ayran and a large glass of wine. total cost was £56.80 which works out at £19.00 per head for a two course meal.

Used a few times for home delivery and the food was piping hot and very tasty. Home made hummus is lovely. Will order agiain even tho delivery took a while it was worth the wait

This a really lovely restaurant. The staff are helpful, and brilliant at helping you make the right choices.The food is delicious and really well presented.

Amazing food, and wine, lamb on the fire is superb. Clean and tidy restaurant. Waitress really nice and professional especilly Maria. Absolutely recommended.

Went with friends and had the set meal for 4/5. Added the liver starter and for some reason thought we might need chips with the main! The set meal would have been fine on its own. Plenty of fresh dips, warm tasty bread. The main was a selection of kebabs, chicken and ribs and rice. The staff were amazing, attentive and friendly without being annoying. Wine, coffee it came to around £100 for 4 of us. We couldn’t manage dessert! Would definitely recommend it and will be visiting again.

The food here is very good and reasonable priced, they throw in Bread and dips on the house which is a nice touch. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

The Stone Grill has been recommended to us by several people so we thought we'd give it a try, we weren't disappointed. We made the mistake of ordering too much as portions are a good size and there is pitta bread, small dips and olives placed on the table before the food is served. Everything we had was delicious and well cooked, restaurant is good for meat eaters and vegetarians, there's a good choice on the menu. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were very friendly and efficient. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning to sample some of their other dishes.

All the good reviews that I have read about this property are true. The friendliness of the staff seems genuine. I have never seen such good customer service as I experienced poolside.The food was fresh,properly prepared and the great value for the price I'm highly recommend it :)

Decided to try this place for lunch after passing it many times. The food was excellent and the value off the lunchtime menu was terrific - two courses for less than £8. Service was friendly and fast and there is a good selection of food and drinks. The food is literally stone grilled and was delicious. Being on the fringe of a busy shopping area, it was surprising so few people were using it. We will be going back.

Working in Basildon for a week and ended up eating here every night, Very friendly service and wonderful food (and the wine isn't bad either !) Every dish I tried, mostly Lamb, was tender and delicious, the Kisir as a starter is so moreish ! I must find an excuse to work down here again...!

I swear it's the most fresh yummiest and tastiest restaurant I have been to ever after coming to the uk..the lamp and chicken melts in your mouth .. flavours and slices are so well balanced ..freshly prepared salad and oh I can go on forever ... I Reccomend it to anyone and everyone ..

My first visiting to Stone Grill was Thursday night that was good entertainment and Belly dance show ,we enjoyed every moment the food was delicious and freshly made with reasonable price , recommended Chicken Sarma Beyti , would definitely go again.

We had chicken shish with rice and a side salad. Chicken very tender and plenty of it. You can see the meat being cooked. Meal was very filling and enjoyable.

We love Turkish food so was excited to find the new Stone Grill Restaurant.

Been to Stone Grill so many times since it opened, I should buy share in the company lol. Never disappointed. Food is great, moussaka, kleftico, chicken shish everything I've tried has been spot on. Friendly staff and a lovely comfortable restaurant for any occasion.

My partner and I went in for the first time and the welcome was wonderful. the food was of the highest standard and the service brilliant. the background music and the atmosphere transported you away from a town center restaurant and made you feel like you were on holiday. i anticipate many return trips to this lovely relaxed but high quality restaurant. the price was bloody reasonable too which is a bonus :-)

6 ladies out for a meal. Food was lovely and service very good BUT the music was so loud it was unpleasant. Then a belly dancer appeared and the music got even louder so we had to shout at each other. Not my idea of a relaxing meal. There was no need for the music to be so loud as to hurt our ears.
