Deniz Restaurant in Basildon

Popped in for a late lunch on Saturday. First time visit. Nice decor inside. Food was excellent. Staff on the ball. Not exactly cheap, didn't break the bank either but the quality was top notch so well worth the price. A little gen in the heart of Basildon.

Probably one of the quickest deliveries I’ve ever gotten paired with the worst calamari I’ve ever had in my life Absolute rip off, looked like beaten up onion rings I don’t know if I need to call the police for theft at this point. The lamb kleftiko on the other hand was soft, lovely and tasty, for barely 3 pound more. Like I said, I feel robbed, £80 order, what a joke.

Excellent tasty food and good value

The moment we stepped into this restaurant we noticed that this place is run with pride. The place is spotless and well decorated. In a town like Basildon this place is a real gem. If you want a decent place to eat at a reasonable price I can really recommend this restaurant. They have a reasonable lunch menu and they can be flexible with special requirements or requests. The waiter was really attentive and made us feel very welcome. You won't find a better restaurant in Basildon Town Centre and it puts the chain restaurants and eateries to shame. Well done Deniz... !

Food is so good - vine leaves are really good are the kebabs - perfectly cooked and none of the grease you get from a kebab shop - this is how a kebab should be - recommend dining in but take out is also just as good. Staff are friendly and welcoming and very attentive.

Had lunch with friends yesterday food was good, but i was charged £2.95 for a soda water from the pump which i through was a bit excessive...most places dont even charge for that...she could have told me.

Our recent visit to this lovely restaurant was an absolute delight. The Turkish food was exceptionally tasty, with generous portions that left us fully satisfied. The service was impeccable, and the nice atmosphere made for a truly enjoyable dining experience. It was our second time here, and it certainly won't be the last!

This was my second time visiting Deniz, and once again the food was exceptional! The bread, starters, and mains came out freshly cooked and piping hot. Everything was delicious and non-greasy. The service was friendly, professional and very quick. I would recommend this restaurant over any of the others in Basildon town!

Never disappointed coming to Deniz. Staff are always friendly and the food is always fantastic. Highly recommend to everyone

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED; We’ve been to Deniz several times for the past 7 years, amazing food (fresh & authentic), super friendly staff, they are also professional and caring at the same time. We’ve also ordered takeaway. Since they remember us, they leave us a lovely message and a lovely surprise for our son, we absolutely love Deniz. It feels like we are there even it’s takeaway! We recently moved to Southend and miss them so much, planning to go back there soon; we miss the food and every single staff working at Deniz.

Came here for dinner with friends on a Saturday evening. We were warmly welcomed & shown to our table. I can highly recommend the lamb shish iskander & the lamb kleftiko. The food was very good & reasonably priced. Service was good too. We will definitely return.

Friendly staff, excellent service, food was outstanding, I had chicken shish and it was beautifully cooked and tender, the salad was really fresh. Would definately go back.

Around one hour delay to get food after ordering

Food was nice and fresh. 5* hygiene. I liked the seating inside and interior. The floor was very slippery though as raining outside but I nearly slipped twice so definitely a hazard. Chicken shish was nice and succulent. Would have like a grilled tomato or chilli on the plate like other restaurants. The food was lacking in spice mainly. If the red sauce was more spicy then could be overlooked, but that too was very mild. Rice, salad and started were enjoyable Overall: 7.5/ 10

The dining experience with the oriental taste is more than wonderful

Ordered Adana kebab and lamb doner.adana was as usual high standard but unfortunately lamb doner was dry rubbery non consumable.as I was in same industry I know the doner was sitting in the hotpot for ages and the staff who packed the doner didn’t bother to make a fresh one but instead choose to ruin my dinner after days hard work.

Absolutely gorgeous food which is priced very reasonably. Large portion sizes ensure you will not leave hungry along with great staff. 100% will be returning in the future. The Turkish sausage starter also deserves special praise as it was wonderful!

Been going to this place since it first opened however in the past few weeks the food has really gone downhill. The quality is shocking. They’ve changed some dishes to doner instead of chunks of lamb or Adana. The Adana is now very thin and quite dry. I really do hope the owners see the recent reviews and listen to them. It was always good to have a decent Turkish in Basildon but this is now a disappointment. Dinner was ruined. We actually ended up reordering dinner but from somewhere else!

The quality of your lamb doner is disgusting. It used to be decent cuts of lamb, now I would not feed it to my dog. A real shame.

Donna kebab was cold and undercooked. They changed the dish without issue, but not the best choice by me

Absolutely love this restaurant. The staff are so attentive and happy to please. The food is brilliant and you get lots of it. I have tried pretty much every special they have to offer and each one has been simply perfect. Highly recommend this place to everyone who hasn't been here before.

What an amazing place. Brilliant staff. We went here for my son 18th and they catered to our every need. There was 14 of us, ranging from 1 year old to 71. Nothing was too much fuss. I can't rate these high enough. Beautiful decor, loved seeing the chief cook. Service 10/10. Cleanliness 10/10. We will be returning. Thank you for making our special evening great x

First time visit. Next time we're in Basildon we'll head straight for Deniz. Food & presentation amazing, thoroughly enjoyed our lunch which was plentiful and excellent value for money. The staff were very attentive and helpful which made our lunch even more enjoyable.

For a restaurant in the town centre it's great. Plenty of seats. Service was friendly and the food freshly cooked and large 👍.

Our first time at Deniz and recent reviews had me feeling a bit apprehensive. The restaurant wasn't overly busy and service was prompt and polite, food was delicious. I would most definitely be coming back. Could not see what the previous reviews were about 🤷‍♀️

Chicken is too old and cooked multiple time caused allergic. We not looking for refund. Complaint is raised with Council Heath department.

Pretty much everything was unseasoned. Asked for chilli sauce, got something that’s more like salsa. Get a kebab from your local instead.

Literally more bread inside my Sish kebab than actual meat. Also everything salt less. Nice place to come in but not to eat. From our table of 5 peoples not even one would come back here

My Greek salad was full of parsley, the wine rolls are from a tin and the mix cold appetisers nothing special. The lamb kebap had 50% of bread in it which is ridiculous, dried chips, no Coke Zero available so nothing but water if you are diabetic. I left half of my food there.

I recently dined here because it was all that I could go to at that point in time. clearly my desperation resulted in my demise. My experience was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. First and foremost, the service was abysmal. The staff seemed disinterested and were slow to attend to our table. We had to repeatedly flag down waiters just to get basic requests fulfilled, and they appeared annoyed when we did so. The food was a letdown as well. The kebabs we ordered were overcooked and dry, lacking the juicy tenderness that is characteristic of authentic Turkish cuisine. The portion sizes were small for the exorbitant prices we paid, and the taste was mediocre at best. We were also served stale bread that tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. I believe there were hairs in my friends sauce that really put us off. Furthermore, the restaurant's ambiance was far from pleasant. The seating was uncomfortable. The restaurant lacked proper ventilation, leaving us feeling suffocated by the heavy smell of greasy food. To add insult to injury, when we brought up our concerns with the manager, they were dismissive and unapologetic. He was very rude and showed no interest in addressing our complaints or making amends for the subpar experience we had. In conclusion, I would not recommend going here to anyone seeking an authentic Turkish dining experience. The service was terrible, the food was disappointing, and the overall ambiance was unpleasant. Save your money and go elsewhere for a truly enjoyable Turkish meal. overall its mid.

Have been to deniz restaurant a few times now, and every time has been a great experience i always book a table in advance , great tasting food, fast service and friendly staff, i recommend this restaurant. Look forward to my next visit.

Food was great. Unsmiling service. Needs strong improvement.

Food was excellent, but you need a huge appetite! Service was unsmiling and didn't make us feel very welcome although quite attentive. No real atmosphere to speak of but the food makes up for what is lacking. I would suggest that you order your starters and main meal separately as our main meal arrived as we literally took the last bite of our starters.

One star is not enough for the horrible treatment we just received. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. My food was cold, chicken was dry and unseasoned even though they claim to be seasoned. The server or manager, was a short, impotent and balding man who was very rude and this did not lessen the blow of their already terrible service. If you value quality food and quality service for the price that you’re paying, don’t come here!!!!!!!!!!!

I recently visited a restaurant and was disappointed with the quality of the fish and halomi. The fish had no flavor and the halomi were plain, with no seasoning. Additionally, I was not given the option of having fries or rice with my meal. On the bright side, the borek was delicious and the olives were exceptional. However, I do not feel that the overall quality of the food was worth the price of 30 pounds. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

Went with my partner today food was good but only thing ruined the whole experience was the waitress, she seemed not happy to see us and looked so moody for some reason? She was polite sometimes then other times looked like couldnt be bothered which isnt pleasant experience. Even whilst giving the bill seem to just chuck it without even eye contact.
