Clean cafe, friendly and attentive staff . The issue for me is that on a few occasions I have had Cakes and they havent been fresh.. They are still charging the same price for potentially stale food. Please Stollers, if you are going to serve cakes that a few days old, mark them half price. Even better, only serve fresh cake.

First visit. This looks nice I thought. Place was less than half full around midday .Quickly directed to a table that required cleaning, but not asked where we wished to sit. Young person wiped down the table and said someone would be along soon to take our order. We waited and waited , despite some members of staff apparently doing nothing. Just about to leave when a waitress finally appeared. Started to take our order then said she couldn’t as the last people at our table had left without paying. Waitress left and came back a few minutes later and said unable to take our order on her iPad until it was sorted out. We would have to wait yet again , she left to attend other customers. At this point we stood up and left and will never be going back. Customer service is appalling. Can’t comment on the food as we never got any!

Ordered the special ‘Beef Baguette with Hawkshead Relish’. A hot dog appeared 15 minutes later. I explained I ordered the beef baguette. ‘It’s a beef sausage’ the waitress explained! I said I didn’t want a sausage, I want what I ordered. They quickly edited the special board to ‘beef sausage baguette, as we overheard that I wasn’t the first to send it back. I was then offered a beef baguette with the same trimmings. I asked how long it would be as my friends had started their meals. ‘It will be straight away’! My friends finished their meal and mine arrived. Beef in gravy, with the relish and trimmings…. Not nice! To top it off they charged me an extra £1.50 for the sausage baguette special as I had the trimmings. When I explained I wasn’t happy the young waitress was really rude. It was not their fault as it was a misunderstanding between the chef and the service people. I explained that was not my fault, more rude retorts! Last time I visit…. Avoid!

Waited 50mins a to be told (after we had to ask) that our order had blown away !!!!& one of the 2 Chicken & Mushroom pies we had ordered had no lids left so would we be happy with bread !!!! The obvious answer was NO , was offered another drink but this was not good enough & sadly had to walk out with empty stomachs , will not be returning , had we not asked we could have still been sat there while all around were tucking in to pies with lids (not bread)

This is a popular restaurant with people who have nothing else to do all day. Although the food is OK when it finally arrives, beforehand you have to wait 30 mins to just place your order. This is because they only have one waitress who takes orders. This is ridiculous for c100 covers. It takes 30 mins to take your order, a further 20 mins to get a drink in your hand. So nearly an hour from being seated, you get a drink. Then its just a waiting game for food which could be a further hour. If visiting here allow youself a good 3 hours from start to finish and thats just for a sandwich!

On a visit to Stollers we decided to have lunch here for convenience, and the restaurant looked very nice. Seated quickly in what was a busy restaurant, ordered and payed upfront (did find this a little strange however completely understand from a business perspective) Drinks arrived quickly and food soon after. One was the Cajun Chicken Baguette from the hot section, it was delicious and very filling. The other was a Salt Beef Bagel off the specials board, again very tasty and filling. Very impressed with the quality of the food. Service was efficient and all the staff were nice. The only negative I could think of was there wasn’t a great variety on the menu however this wasn’t an issue as we aren’t fussy eaters. Would definitely return if in the area.

Our second visit for lunch. First visit: Food lovely. Waiting time. Too long. Second visit. Was told after twenty minutes the pie was off the menu! Re-ordered but had to wait a further twenty minutes to be served. Drinks were brought after mains despite asking for them to be served with our meal. No member of staff asked us if we were enjoying / enjoyed our meals let alone apologising for the delay. We will return as the food, ambience and presentation is excellent. We will be prepared for the wait in future and settle down with a book and a crossword.

Attended here with my 70 year old mum today. It took 20 mins to be seated even though the restaurant wasn't full. It was down to staff taking ages to clean the tables. Once seated, I ordered our meal. This was a simple order of caesar salad, a side of fries and mineral waters to drink. The waitress asked if we'd like to pay immediately rather than after we'd eaten. I agreed to pay and settled the bill before any meals or drinks were served. It took 35 mins for the simple order to arrive. After finishing we got up to leave. As we were exiting the restaurant, the young blonde waitress who had served us, chased after my mum and shouted "Eh excuse me have you paid your bill?" Other customers turned to look at us. I told her I had at her request, before we had even eaten. HOW RUDE! My mum was embarrassed. The waitress said "oh yes you did". As if we would leave without paying. How unprofessional she was and no apology. They shouldn't ask you to pay up front, if they can't even remember when you have. I was still mad after I left at her lack of judgement. The cafe is supposed to be a cut above, I've been treated better at burger vans. The attitude of staff needs a makeover for this to be anywhere near or on par with better establishments nearby.

Visited once for morning coffee, and as a result of the lovely staff and amazing decor, my parents decided to come back for lunch. Everything from the welcome onwards was absolutely excellent. The staff are very friendly and jolly, and the whole place is fascinating to just sit in and enjoy. But the food is the best of all - the highest quality, beautifully presented and at really good prices. Many thanks to the whole team and we can't wait to visit to try the Roasts!

Our favourite place in barrow for a roast dinner. Yes it’s pricey but as they say you get what you pay for. The roast chicken is utterly divine and everything is always cooked to perfection. Cannot fault the homemade cakes either, the Banoffee tart has become my favourite dessert ever! Must try if you’re in barrow

Visited with my daughter for a quick lunch. She is vegetarian and fancied a salad but their was little choice so we opted for sandwiches. After we had been served our drinks which were finished an eternity before the sandwiches were served, I was astonished to see how thick the sandwich bread had been cut. It must have been approaching an inch thick. By contrast, the sandwich filling was very thinly spread. Very inexpensive to make. Very expensive to eat.

Stopped here for some lunch prior to watching a football match at Barrow AFC. Nicely decorated café with a good lunch menu featuring a range of sandwiches, toasties, panini’s and all day breakfast plus a good range of tempting cakes. Food quality is above average and service very pleasant.

We had lunch here on our way to Barrow. The cafe is at the rear of the furniture shop. The shop itself is amazing; it's huge with lots of unique furniture items and homeware items. The cafe is quirkily decorated; loved the lampshade lights and the stained glass windows. Time your visit as the place gets busy. Find a table and then order at the counter from the menu giving your table number. There is a good menu choice including vegetarian options. There is also a specials board. Everything is homemade including the lovely cakes in the cabinets near the counter. Friendly staff, prompt service, good food at reasonable prices and decent portion sizes. We'll be back.

Went for lunch with my daughter, as she had heard good reports. On our last visit it was a bit upside down with the refurbishment taking place, but well worth it. It has been refurbished in a retro come art deco theme and is beautiful. The menu hasn't really changed much and the quality and portion sizes are as good as ever. I had a chicken Caesar salad , and my daughter the fish goujons which was a special of the day. The fish was well cooked and a huge amount. My only criticism would be the peppers in the Caesar salad, you don't put them in. Otherwise lovely.

Always a nice meal, but a wait of nearly half an hour today. We were just deciding to chase up our meal when the waitress appeared with it. The restaurant is recently refurbished and has a lovely cosy feel to it. However, there seems to be more low table seating which is fine for coffee and cake, but not for eating a meal. A few people whilst we were there were holding their plates in mid-air rather than bending down to their low table. The restaurant has been slightly extended but with the layout and new seating areas taking up so much room, it felt a bit awkward finding a table to suit us.

Went here late in the day. The cafe is under a refurbishment, so a pop up cafe facility is in the middle of the store. The menu is limited, which customers are made aware of before entering the store. My toasted cheese and onion sandwich was ok, but too many onions for my liking. My daughter's chicken and cheese sweet chilli panning was dry with very little sweet chilli. The coconut cake was dry and fell into a pile of crumbs, whilst the billionaires shortbread was sickly. Whilst we were eating there was obvious work going on with hammering and drilling noises. Then the waiting staff were cleaning tables, and stacking chairs on them . It was just after 3pm. My advice would be close the cafe, and open again when refurbishment is completed. I am sure they can afford it after viewing the price of the furniture in store!!!.

Having read some of the other reviews this doesn't seem to have been a one off. When our meal arrived it was tasty enough but the presentation was poor. We asked the waitress for cutlery and despite knowing we had waited so long she served drinks to another customer before bringing it to us. I took them to Stollers for a snack.nobody told me I would have take out a second mortgage to pay for it!The latte was nice but at £2.80 it was way over priced for the size.it was gone in two mouthfuls .You can get a medium latte for £2.45 at Costa and it's so much bigger. The cakes are a decent price and very nice but all the food on menu is ridiculously over priced. £1.10 for ONE crumpet is terrible. I would not recommend you go here for lunch unless you have very deep pockets. So come on strollers management please relook at your menus and lower your prices and get some bigger coffee cups. We then waited over 40 minutes for sandwiches which we also had to ask how much longer they were going to be. We were then told our chips would be brought out with our sandwiches. After finishing out main and coffee we had to go back to the counter for a third time to ask where our chips where. The coffee mainly consisted of milk and after politely asking a member of staff for a shot of coffee to be added she was extremely rude and miserable. The cafe offers a wide range of "eats" from sandwiches, jackets, cakes, blackboard specials and all sorts of egg, sausage & chips combinations to all-day breakfast. The accommodation is always clean and comfortable, food has to be ordered from a counter quoting a table number. All food is served using quality crockery and cutlery for the same price as the nearby supermarket cafes and fast food outlets with their plastic cups. The main snag is inadequate staffing levels and food preparation space which inevitably leads to long delays between ordering and waitress service.

It's not every day you can order a three-piece suite followed by mince and onion pie! Both are on the menu at Stollers, a class act furniture store, celebrating 110 years in business, in the famous shipyard Cumbrian town of Barrow-in-Furness.Three of us made the 42-mile trip from Morecambe round the Bay to Barrow on a gloriously sunny autumnal morning, with chairs and tables very much on the priority shopping list. But it was the excellent in-store restaurant that also caught the eye. Where better, after a long journey, to relax a little with coffee and cakes. This we did as soon as we entered the building, weaving our way through aisle after aisle of easy tables, suites, chairs, beds, mirrors, lamps....and so on.We chose from a surprisingly adventurous array of coffees (mine was a skinny cappuccino, without sprinkles) and then indulged ourselves in a couple of almond slices (good enough for the Great British Bake-Off) and a delicious cream cake.Later, after the furniture dash, we returned for lunch. So glad we did. My sister went for the all-day breakfast (which was voted ten out of ten), my wife thought her fish goujons and chips very tasty indeed while my mince and onion pie went down a treat. The restaurant itself was tastefully furnished (you wouldn't expect anything less!) and the service was spot on.All in all, a real furniture and food fandango!

I came with my children and upon entering I was thinking we wouldn't find a clean table as alot of people had already eaten and we're leaving so I told my children to just grab any table while I went to the till, (they did sit at a dirty table) but after I had ordered and sat down it was cleared and the lovely waitress apologised I said not to worry as obviously they were busy and it was to be expected as my children picked this particular table and not one of the clean ones. Our food arrived fairly promptly and was great we couldn't fault it. (And we had a cake for desert and it was the best cake I have ever had no joke). Overall very hard working staff, pleasant atmosphere, good quality food I will definitely be back :)

I like Stollers as a store, including its staff (though there are too few). Stollers cafe, on the other hand, is a place I have never enjoyed and always feel unwelcome and a few pegs lower in mood after leaving. I don't like to rate a place on one visit and like to go back a few times. Here, the service is always shocking. Really miserable head staff who you can generally hear bossing around the newer/younger staff, who probably try their best but seem unhappy as a result. Service from the former is always with a frown and 'a look'. You are always asked to move from the back half of the cafe, whatever time and however busy, presumably to reduce cleaning space (though it's a small cafe). Everything seems to be a chore (God forbid you may want ketchup, for example). We generally feel like we are eating at a punishment centre where you have to keep quiet, ask for nothing and go home as soon as you're done. The food is nice enough, though overpriced given it's simplicity, but if I owned this eatery then I would be surely reminding my lead staff that their job is to make customers feel comfortable, at least, and they are being paid not forced to work there. Money is not an object but this service is so bad I'd rather nip across the road to Asda's for a cheap meal served with a friendly smile instead.

Great place for a coffee and cake or a full meal, the food is homemade and very very nice and puts a lot of pubs and restaurants to shame.Although it can appear to be busy your never kept waiting for your food .been back 3 times since we first went as the food is so nice and its great value for money.

Found this quite by accident and what a find !!My wife and I had the Sunday roast dinner and it was superb.Friendly service, cooked fresh so waited about 15 minutes but well worth it; cooked to perfection the beef fell apart but was still moist, not dry as very often happens. For £8.95 you couldn't get a better roast.Highly recommended

I'd heard about the coffee shop in Stollers Furniture World and understood they served home-made cake which was enough to make me want to visit. The coffee shop is at the back of the furniture store next to the travel agents outlet. It smelt of coffee and nice food. No nasty smells and my friends and I were looking forward to our drink and a cake after a nice crisp winter walk.We noticed quite a lot of empty tables none of which had yet been cleared so we chose one and my friend politely asked a waitress with a spray bottle and cloth if she could clear and clean the table. The waitress proceeded to clean tables not occupied but eventually got to ours. You place your order at the counter and I chose a hot chocolate priced at £2.60 and a coffee cup cake which was £1.60. The woman taking the order seemed harassed and not in the mood for chatting. We waited at our table and our order was brought over to us in pretty good time.My coffee cake wasn't very coffee-ey but was ok. The hot chocolate was in a very small mug and not worth £2.60, however as it was pretty tastless I wasn't that bothered that I didn't have much. Unfortunately I knocked my hot chocolate over, not on purpose even though it wasn't very nice, not one single member of staff came over. I approached the counter and asked for a cloth and a grubby dishcloth was shoved at me. This was not big enought to clear the spillage so I went back to the counter to ask for another cloth and an older woman told a younger girl to give me a tea towel as the drink had spilled "all over." A grubby tea towel was then shoved at me and I continued to mop up.Even in MacDonalds a member of staff would have been straight over to clean up and I would have been offered a replacement drink. Not here, like I said before not a single member of staff approached our table to help. Appalling customer service. We were very dissapointed and won't be going back. Such a shame as it could have become a regular calling point for us as the surroundings are lovely.

The room we booked was awful, chair arms all ripped and sponge handing out. The staff(young kids) kept getting all the drink orders wrong and also tried to over charge on multiple occasions. We got told for cold buffet food it was 6pound something and for hot and cold it would be 9pound something. So they picked the 9pound option for 40 people. The food was absolutely awful and appalling. One bowl of chips, 3 small trays of dreadful sandwiches. And a few other crappy things. I most definitely not be going there again. Discussing place

Probly would avoid this place unless you like to be verbally abused by the staff. I said I thought number of table was 23 to which somebody, that wasent serving me said you better go find out then hadent you. With an aggressive manner I asked him why he was speaking to me like that to 6which he started shouting I'm not getting served. Seriously over a number which I went back to check it wasent a issue. He still at this point shouting how am not gettin served and get f**kin out. The bouncers and the manager came over and bouncers couldn't handle it better and apologised for the adult that was acting like a child. Standing at the side of his general manager shouting get out you fat bitch. That certain staff member deffiantly need s a few lesson in customer service and how to generally act as an adult.....

Our car broke down so we were unable to stay. The owners have very graciously allowed us to refund or move our booking though it is non refundable. Much appreciated 👏

We visited on a Friday evening expecting a busy pub/restaurant but were surprised by the lack of visitors. The food was exceptional and the choice of food was great. We have visited many times and never been disappointed. A lovely place to visit.
