We accidently discovered this cafe while hunting around Whitby for something more "homely". The staff were very accommodating for our party of 7. They ensured we got seated and looked after us all the step of the way. The food was plentiful, tasty, and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection that suited both adults and children. If you want to avoid the mass of marauding tourists and seaguls. Take a stroll up the hill to Stokers.

I have eaten in Stokers Cafe before and it was so good, but my last two visits were for cake! I ordered our Golden Wedding cake and just recently my 70th birthday cake. Both cakes were Victoria sponge with jam and butter cream and they were just so deliciously gorgeous. Once you had a piece you just wanted more. I would highly recommend this cafe for food but especially for your speciality cakes 😀

Very tasty food in a cosy setting. The coffee was also excellent and they offer oat milk if dairy isn’t really your thing.

First visit to Stokers. Will be back next time we visit Whitby. Sat outside with a good cup of coffee and toasted tea cakes. Very pleasant staff. A back street gem.

Lovely little cafe. Food was nice. Excellent service, only thing I would say is some music/radio needed just to add to the atmosphere.

Disappointing visit this morning. Having been recommended to this coffee shop, popped in for a takeaway coffee this morning. It's very close to where we are staying this week, so would have been nice to find a convenient regular stop. While waiting for my latte, I noticed loyalty stamp cards on the counter, picked one up and offered it to the lady serving me as I paid, to be told, sorry this is for sit in customers only! Seems very short sighted and missing the point of a Loyalty programme! Especially since I was only paying 20p less for my takeaway, in what appeared to be a much smaller serving than someone drinking in! A loyalty card would probably have brought me back for coffees for all my family during our visit, this lack of good service, means I won't be back at all.

We've visited here before and had their home made quiche which was fantastic. Sadly its not available through the Winter months, which makes sense, so we chose other items from their menu, all of which were gorgeous. Very friendly place, without wanting to sound rude, its like being looked after by your grandma. Everything appears to be home made, the gent producing the food started making a cake while we were sat there, always a good sign. We'll be back soon

We are locals so we are familiar with most of the cafe's and coffee shops in Whitby. Stokers is the best. Very dog friendly, plenty of seating and space around your table, lovely staff, great coffee and the rocky road was THE BEST we have ever had. And we've had a lot! There is a fantastic selection of fresh cakes/scones etc, made in-house as well as sandwiches, panini's etc for lunch. And the pricing is extremely reasonable compared to many of the eateries in Whitby. We will be returning for sure.

It was raining heavy in whitby on the day we visited, everywhere had huge queues and the prices of food was extortiate. We had our baby with us, running as fast as we could to find somewhere to shelter when we came across this cafe and what a god send it was. Thanksfully as they are off the main part, they had tables available so we stopped for lunch. We both had a brie, bacon and jelly sandwich which was gorgeous with a side salad and a hot drink. With your drinks comes some shortbread which was so yummy so I bought a bag. The cakes are made here and look fantastic. There are baby high chairs if required. There are steps down to the toilets which are clean. Great experience from the staff and lovely food. Highly recommended.

This is an amazing little café. Superb coffee and selection of teas (Chair tea was delicious) . Check out the cakes, delicious and some really unusual choices of flavour too. This café was so good we went twice on our weekend away to Whitby. We are returning in October, so we look forward to enjoying the 'yummies' on offer again - see you in October!

What a lovely cafe tucked away on a quiet street, not far from West Cliff. Wonderful homemade quiche accompanied by an imaginative side salad plus coleslaw. Quick service, friendly staff. Cakes all homemade, but we couldn’t fit one in unfortunately!

You must visit this cafe when in Whitby! Really delicious food at a very reasonable price and the service is fantastic! We had 4 drinks, 5 main options and 3 desserts for less than £30! They are really friendly :) They do amazing cakes and they have gluten free options plus the best coleslaw ever! They only have a few tables and they are popular so I’d suggest reserving a table. We had jacket potatoes, a bagel, a panini, soup, chocolate cake and a scone with jam and clotted cream and we highly recommend them all. We’ve just been and we are going back tomorrow!

Lovely, chummy people, articulate and erudite, but never mind that, the bottom line is that the grub is lovely. Over a couple of visits, we had toasted bagle with cream cheese and salmon, which was fabulous, and a couple of different flavours of soup with a lovely brown roll. Both soups were super. First day we could sit out in the sun, second time we were indoors. Ambience lovely on both occasions. Friendly staff and affable chef. A lovely change from the greasy stuff on the front.

Stokers is at the top of Skinner Street and near West Cliff. We had coffee and the best cheese scone most mornings. We think it’s the best value in Whitby. Lovely staff, great owner and we were lucky on all occasions to be able to sit outside.

Visiting Whitby with family when we stumbled across Stokers and what a find it was. A friendly welcome and attentive service throughout our visit. The menu is small but as a party of 5 we found something for everyone - turkey salad, sandwiches and cream cheese bagel - which were all delicious and fresh. Best of all was the cakes - they all looked visually amazing and tasted great. I personally had the homemade Battenburg cake (shaped like a Victoria sponge) and oh wow it was probably one of the best cakes I’ve had and baked by the lovely lady behind the counter! Great little find and would definitely visit again for the amazing cake should we ever be in Whitby - highly recommend!

Went here today just passing and decided to go in for a cake.... lots of selection. Ordered a ham sandwich, scone and a cappuccino.... Sandwich was delicious.. service was attentive. Overall I will come back again... I would say a small bit of background music would add a finishing touch... and maybe offer Jam with the scone... other than that it’s a hit

I only went in for a hot drink on a rainy day, but an hour later I left having had a superb fresh coffee and a delicious cake. Even my beloved pooch was not forgotten and had the waggliest tail after the free doggy treats. On the way out I had a look around the gift shop and left with a beautiful cuddly animal calendar for my mothers Christmas stocking. My husband was pleased with my purchase and I went back the next day for a few more for those People who are so hard to buy presents for.

Excellent coffee and lot of delicious cakes and scones. I particularly like the cheese scone being served with some cheese - a nice touch. Coffee is served with a nice biscuit too. Do have a good look round at all the gifts as well ! An excellent range of cards, magnets, book-marks, kitchen textiles and also some canvases with pictures / art.

Second time having breakfast at The Pines for me, third for my mum and brother with whom I come on holiday to lovely Filey. I can see how the local older folk love this little cafe but you don't have to be old to appreciate its charm or indeed a good, reasonably priced English breakfast. Malcolm is a great host with his cheeky banter!

We stumbled across this place whilst wandering around the old town. It’s near the swing bridge on Grape Street Small menu so we tried most of it - everything we had was great. Loved the kimchi dumplings and the sushi. The bowl of delight which I forget the name of was delicious as was the sweet chilli chicken. All freshly cooked and tasty! We will return to try what we missed!! It was very reasonably priced, friendly service and can’t recommend enough.
