Stobys Fish and Chips in Hillingdon

I have been using Stoby’s of Eastcote,”for many years , I find them Extremely friendly and professional service.

I'm a delivery driver I need to grab something to eat on the go at my break time and came across this chippy as its friday . Thought why not let me get some fish and chips There was a nice young guy who I asked about the sausage batter If it was pork or beef , he said that it was chicken and beef So I left that and went Order Cod and chips the lady eho i dealt with said come back in 15 minutes We cook it from fresh. That's not a problem for me. I did think the woman's attitude was a bit funny at the time the manner which she talks to you as a customer but Brush it off as I thought she was just rushing and a bit hype Cause there was 3 people in there before me So came back in 15 mins I asked if I could use the toilet just to wash my hands Before eating as it is a restaurant with tables the lady said it was out of order and I needed to go to paddy power next door which to be fair isn't very clean Before I left to wash my hands I asked, could I eat at the table that when the I realised it wasn't an attitude because she was rushing in. She's just rude and doesn't have any customer service etiquette the lady said but it's in paper. I didn't think this was a big thing Because you can just take it out of the paper and put it on a plate. So I came back From. Washing my hands next door and she handed My fish and chips in the paper still With a knife on fork and said I can sit there and she wouldn't charge me. The thing is. I understand how the restaurants work. There's a sitting in charge but at no point. Did she offer me this . all she did was give me attitude from the time I came back asking about the toilet and seating down to eat which same to be a big problem. So on this I took my food and I just left. Her customer service needs a big overhaul And if she's the manager, I don't know what's going on. The cod was lovely No skin batter, lovely chips under the cooks. Soggy inside quite white After this experience I started to read through the Reviews, and it seems to be a recurring problem. I won't be back, to be honest It wasn't very welcome and it wasn't a nice experience one of the Reviews I read said this is the best Chippy all around all the way to pinner. I don't know what chippies that guy was going to. But you needs to get out more there's better Chippies In Ruislip and pinner then this . This is a average Chippy that really does need some good customer service Upgrade and maybe a little bit of a face. Lift to the property As it is quite dated

Tried the fish pakora and chicken biryani YUM YUM YUM blooming FAB

We ordered the chicken biryani, vegetable and lamb samosa, it was a big bowl of hot and very delicious food. This time we added yoghurt and mint sauce which went very well and was lovely. Definitely recommend and we will be ordering again

We have had fish and chips regularly here and has always been lovely. We started a diet two weeks ago and this week they have started doing healthy options ! 👏 one being grilled fish with onions and peppers.. absolutely delicious and guilt free, my husband often has the pakora and salad which again is delicious. Thank you so much for doing healthy options, much appreciated.

My wife and I have been ordering from stobys for a long time now and not once have we been disappointed! Very attentive staff and always pleasant to talk to! Our favourite and go to place for a takeaway!!

One of the best.. Infact the best fish and chips restaurant for all areas in Ruislip, Harrow, Eastcote, Pinner and all around. Their fish pakoras are to die for...a truly unique recipe! Also request the mixed kebab. The chips are made onsite from the word go and taste as fresh as they are! Of course the fish is high quality and very tasty.. But even tried their recently re-launched biryani.. Which will keep u coming here again n again! A must visit!

Absolutely disgusting no quality and not even cooked properly

This fish and chip shop today served us fish that tasted rancid, I called the shop by phone to notify them of this experience with them, I was met with a woman who was trying to defend the chef and her business which I understand, she wanted me to go through the dustbin to return her rancid fish to her at the shop. I said I will bring the bin bag to them and they can sift through the bin and get there rancid fish back themselves. This is a poor customer service suggestion by the shop, so on this note if this is thier remedy and solution to this problem I experienced then I would advise people to avoid this chip shop as the oil in there friar is rancid most definitely today on 18/10/23 at 1.30pm. I will let trading standards know as 2 of us had a strange nasty taste in our mouths. People need to be aware of this.

If i could give more stars I definitely would, where to begin, food is cooked fresh and always taste amazing, super polite when ordering in store and over the phone, even when it's super busy on a Friday you still get in and out fairly fast without compromising quality which is what they are, all of the staff are working hard and are under pressure but still smile and chat, the lovely owner I'm assuming is top notch always apologising if there is a wait and thanks you for your custom, can't fault this place and there food, their chicken donner is something of a urban legend it's that good, and I'd always get lamb but the chicken amazing top notch food and service

Poor levels of customer service charges your extra for eating in their restaurant as well as the attitude of the manager is off-putting they have no regards for their customers and have double standards that of the nineteen seventies they treat white customers better than asians this is why I don't like their attitude and their mindset they are narrow minded and stupid and are discriminatory to their own race how Pathetic avoid this rubbish outlet and go some place else as it stands they charge double the price why bother with these people honestly there are better competitors out there who respect and value their customers these people degrade their loyal customers and brainwash their staff into their shallow minded thinking

Ordered 2 burgers. Meat was burnt and hard. Hardly no salad. Flat as pancakes. Very disappointed

Just had a kebab from there delivered to northolt.1st class kebab..meat not too dry or greasy..definitely using the eastcote one again.

Ordered chicken & chips. Their fish & chips are much better than the chicken. But then the price was very competitive and it was still tasty. Maybe less seasoning, less cook time. The chips were certainly superior to other chicken only places!

Visited on a late Saturday afternoon, was very quiet. Fish is made fresh to order which is good. The batter was extremely thin and tasteless, the fish inside was good. Chips were average. This place is acceptable if there’s nothing else nearby, but nowhere as good as other local chippys.

The fish & chips + sausage in batter was a disgrace the fish was quite good but the so called batter surrounding the fish & sausage was cooked in oil that could have come from my car! I have pictures of this terrible mess to remind never to frequent your fish shop ever again. I hope this may at some time to either change the oil occasionally. Photo can be supplied.

Really good sized portions, food nicely cooked . Really good value for money . Little late delivering , but this was during the extreme weather event ! So well done all round really .

Food was good. But missing bottle of drink

Unfortunately I have had to change this review, I will leave the stars up and maybe Sunita will call me sometime about the last order I had in May. Because I'm not ordering again until it's resolved it's very unlike Stoby's to not follow up a bad order but paying £30 and having instructions not followed causing my missus to have an allergic reaction (as well as the amount of food that was either overcooked or burned) is not on. ~Alessio

Posting this review still traumatised 5 years later and haven’t ordered cod ever since. when me and my family got food poisoning from this chip shop. From the cod fish, it’s terrible how the shop handled it with the rude lady manager called me crazy and laughed when I told her we was food poisoned, to this day now I remember it and can say I haven’t Eaton cod for five years because of this.

Shop posted as open Sunday 12-10pm !! Guess what......it's shut!!!@! Very disappointing.

Foods always Fresh and perfectly cooked.

Went here for takeaway chips for lunch. The chips were great. Good portion size, nicely browned but fluffy inside, piping hot and served in double quick time.

We had fish pakora and salad x2, we also ordered pineapple fritter x2 We had a nice selection of salad, we had lots of fish which was very very tasty and hot till the end Pineapple fritters are lovely It came to £29 for 2, for a special occasion would definitely get again Thank you Stobys for another lovely meal

Awful. Save your money. Over an hour wait for delivery and what a waste of time and money! We threw it straight in the bin as that’s the best place for it.

Best fish and chips in the area

We were totally shocked to get our cod & chips home only to discover the batter on the fish was a dark brown gravy colour, the fish inside the batter was completely dried out. They had clearly made a mistake by over cooking the fish and should have done the decent thing by throwing the fish away, however they decided to still sell the inedible fish to an unsuspecting customer. The only place for this fish was in the bin, we were incredibly disappointed at the behaviour of this shop.

I ordered two portions of Fish & Chips for lunch , on the way home the delicious smell in the car lulled me into thinking a delicious lunch awaited. How wrong I was ! On opening the fish I discovered the batter was firmly stuck to the paper so i I put it on the plate with the paper. Chips were completely underwhelming , Insipid , lank & very lacking in any colour . The fish was delicious , meaty, fresh & a lovely texture but the batter was awful , no bubbly bits & a very pale colour. No feast for the eyes & no feast for the taste buds. Bland, tasteless & completely underwhelming for £19 !

At beginning of lockdown ,my 2 local chippys were closed so I tried this place, and I am so glad I did. Great food , lovely staff, now the only place I will go to for fish and chips. Parking outside as well.

Cod was not as good as the first order. The fishes were a strange shape, never seen Cod like that before.Batter was not crispy as it should be? Maybe as it was a Friday it was cooked in a hurry shame.

We went to Stobys Fish and Chips to have a typical English meal and that we knew we would not be let down We had Haddock, Chips, Mushy Pea Fritter and Gherkin, it was absolutely yummy You could feel the heat coming from the bag as you was sorting it out Thanking Sanita and her great staff

Order came early. Portions were big and the food tasted great. Good customer service.

So we placed a fairly big order for delivery and the payment went through. However, the food never arrived. We called the shop multiple times but went straight to voicemail. Then we decided to go to the shop and thankfully we got the food. Would have really appreciated it, if they had just called or texted to let us know the food was going to come super late. Very unhappy with the service and lack of communication.

2 hours for delivery. Appalling service. Phoned twice to get an update and both times “yes sorry its on its way” when it clearly wasnt. I requested a refund but the person on the phone kept talk over me until I had to shout. I was then offered the food plus a refund which would be with the food. When food eventually arrived at 2115 it was poor quality and guess what. No refund but a “youll be refunded tomorrow”. I hold my breath. Will not be ordering again from here. Unacceptable. If you cant cope with mass orders. Dont take them. Simple.

Don’t use this place. Waited over 2 hrs 30 mins for a takeaway. We had to keep ringing and last who picked up the phone seemed not that bothered. When the food eventually came the fish had been overcooked to within an inch of its life. Times are tough for everyone, it doesn’t take much just to show that you care about your customers.

Always lovely food and great service the female manager is ever so friendly and helpful here and you don't have to wait a long time for your food either, very prompt service.

The most beautiful tasty food I ever had for chips

Ordered from there tonight there was no vinegar on the chips as we asked and there was white stuff in the bottle of coke and it was flat and when I called up and questioned her her attitude was a disappointment I’d rather eat elsewhere this place is a dive with the attitude you would get from a school full of yobs and she’s defending her soppy wannabe restaurant it completely stinks like the dog who answers the telephone AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Hit and miss, sometimes lovely sometimes feels /tastes like the oil needs changing the pies can be cool and a couple of times the fish isn't quite right. The codfather cooks all fish fresh there is never fish just warming which is lovely if you are not in a hurry and I think they steam the potatoes before frying which Sam's did before it became stobys.

The food was actually ok however the attitude of the lady behind the counter was borderline disgraceful. No pleasantries, it was a "yeh" as opposed to the expected "how can I help you" or "what would you like". Secondly she was very very insistent that I pay by cash rather than card and even asked if I would go and withdraw from the cashpoint (the entrance explicitly had signs to say they accept card payment). When I refused she had a strop and took my card to take my payment before muttering something to her worker in a local language. Highly unprofessional and certainly unexpected from a local establishment whom you would expect rely on local regular customers. Suffice to say we wont be ordering from their again as a matter of principal and not due to the food.

Very very rude female manager tried to video me shouting at me because I went into the shop and told them that me my partner and kids all got food poisend by this disgusting chip shop, do not touch anything from here we got fish food poisoned and all the rude c**t of a manager told me that I was lying😡 we fount out a month later that they order there fish from a cheep value wholesalers that sell dodgy meat and off potatoes DO NOT TOUCH THIS CHIP SHOP! really do hope someone puts the windows in one day

This is not our first take away from Stobys, we have enjoyed a few now and because we enjoy it so much it is now one of our main take away treats. The food is delivered hot and very tasty and they do have a good selection of food that is good portion sized. The food that has caught our attention was the fish pakora - delicious, great southern fried chicken and lovely mixed salad. They also cater for children too. As a nice bonus they deliver wine or beer, surprising reasonably priced should you fancy a glass of something.

Best chippy in the area. And I'm northern, so that is a golden recommendation
