Stepping Stones in Wyre

It's always good to return to the same place where you enjoyed a good experience and find nothing has changed. We returned to the Stepping Stones for Saturday lunch with a couple of friends. Given that we had told them how good it was, it was a worry - what if it had changed hands and gone downhill since our last visit? Fortunately there was nothing to fear! We received a warm welcome and were seated where we could appreciate the scenery bathed in some rare sunshine. Arriving at Noon, we were warned that they would be putting up Halloween decorations for a children's party taking place later - they apologised and hoped we didn't mind - we would need to be out of the conservatory by 2pm. Not a problem. So we were entertained by the staff team putting up an interesting array of spooky items and finally by the first arrivals, suitably garbed and face=painted. Everyone agreed that the food was everything we had hoped and, though my wife had a choice of several GF menu items, she went straight for the GF fish 'n' chips, something she can only rarely enjoy. The feathered blade of beef (also GF) was very much enjoyed too. I am told that the treacle toffee sponge was delicious. Our friends, who were driving separately, did query the location with us, so we had to assure them that, yes, it is up a farm lane and at a holiday caravan park. Buy don't let first appearances fool you. The food and drink are sensibly priced and the portions just about right. It was a good start to our holiday - we will return. Keep up the good work!

Saturday lunch: great attitude from the staff who are friendly and welcoming. A selection of gluten free menu options (including fish 'n' chips) for my wife and a good choice overall. The food was delicious. Great value for money. Lovely setting. Returned again a few days ago (this time with friends) and once more enjoyed a tasty, good value lunch with friendly and helpful service. Great to have found this oasis where my wife can reliably enjoy a really good GF fish 'n' chips in a restaurant setting. Highly recommended.

Little hidden gem. I'm so glad we found this place. The setting is lovely, the staff are super friendly and the food was incredible! All home made and you can tell they care about what they are serving. We will be returning for sure.

Good food and excellent service would recommend

Very limited menu. Three of the same puddings varied massively in size when questioned, waitress advised "you can share " Nice place and atmosphere, but I would think twice before returning.

Didn't get to eat, they had a small party of people in, and we were refused food . Think you need to book in advance . Not very welcoming or friendly. So will not be going back

Fantastic Sunday dinner with lovely view

Found this place by chance ..im so glad I did it is a lovely hidden gem . Where do I start the food is home cooked to order you can tell the produce used is fresh and locally sourced. The lady who severed us was so friendly I'm all about customer service and I would employ her in my business any day . Will be visiting again very soon .

Very disappointed to be charged £2.50 for salad dressing! The sandwich came with a nice salad, and when I asked for some dressing, she said they didn't have any. I pointed to the Caesar salad and said that dressing would do, only to find we'd been charged for it! I'll take my own sachets in future!

Fab fish and chips. Such lovely thin crisp batter and white flaky fish. Ate outside. Tad windy but really nice. Views are fabulous .

This is our new favourite place to eat in garstang- great food, fantastic views and friendly staff. Love it!

Me and my husband had been married a few days and stopped off her on route to the lakes. Not only were the staff extremely friendly and welcoming but everything we ordered was outstanding! This review would have been left anyway but when we had requested the bill we were told “frank behind the bar has picked up your bill as a wedding present” absolutely warmed our hearts as it was such a kind gesture. We’ll be talking about this place none stop!

Fairly standard food and wouldn’t go back to eat again. View overlooking the river is quite nice but mainline railway very busy every few minutes.

we took the grandkids (four of them ) all wanted something a bit different to the menu, nothing was to much trouble and it came with a smile and a joke, staff and food where great.

This fantastic place is a little out of the way, but what a really friendly atmosphere. Really good home cooked food piping hot and not rushed between servings. All the staff go out of their way to great and help you. The bar area is dog friendly and the restaurant venue is beautiful.

Brilliant food and Holly is the best waitress. Lovely Sunday lunch.

This pub is situated on a touring/camping site that we stayed at during Easter. 2 adults 2 children. The food was amazing, could not fault it. Children's meals went down a treat and great portions. Staff were wonderful also! It's one of them feel good english home cooked meal places. Well done everyone 👏

Beautiful views from the conservatory, lovely staff and gorgeous food. The front of this place does not do it justice, it is stunning inside. Highly recommended!

Myself plus my Nephew & his wife went to have a Good Friday meal at Stepping Stones Bar &Restaurant at Cabus, Nr. Garstang. It is located just off the main A.6 road going towards Lancaster it is Signposted & there is a Caravan Site nearby. The venue has a good size car park, it has a Bar area plus a Restaurant too all well presented. You can look 👀 it up on line on their website, we had a table reservation. The Staff were very friendly & the Meals we had where very good 👍 too . They are open most of the year in the Bar you can have music & maybe some karaoke 🎤 too. It's well worth a visit and price wise for Meals It's very good so Go and Enjoy 👍.

We returned after 2yrs - a lot can change - but were pleased to discover that the Stepping Stones are still confidently catering for coeliac diners. Arriving on a grim and grey Wednesday lunchtime, with the rain pelting down, we entered the dining area to find it filled with customers. We were lucky to get a table for two without booking. Considering how busy the place was, we were quickly seated and our drinks order taken. Service was friendly and helpful, especially with regard to confirming my wife could safely enjoy her meal. We both enjoyed generous plates of gluten free fish and chips. Really good food - thanks! We hope to return in 2024.

Absolutely amazing gluten free service. They were really busy so not everything available as we arrived close to 2pm and they were nearly full. Still a good choice and ifelt confident they were safe to eat there. The GF fish and chips were great nd prompt and friendly service too.

Popped into Stepping Stones for lunch on a Saturday. Have never visited before and was looking for somewhere off the A6, near to Garstang. This is ideal, just a couple of minutes from the main road and with plenty of parking. It was quiet when we arrived and we received a warm welcome from the team. We started with a pot of tea, which was nice and strong. I had quiche of the day (vegetarian) with chips and salad and my companion had meat pie with chips and peas. We were tempted by the dessert menu and I had a delicious iced cinnamon bun with a scoop of ice cream and my friend had sticky toffee pudding. The staff were super friendly and chatted to us and were happy to adapt our meals to exactly what we wanted. The food was excellent and well presented and very tasty. The dining area is large, with a choice of different areas. The windows look out across the River Wyre, with Beacon Fell beyond and the railway running through (a bonus for train spotters!) There is some outdoor seating for use in summer. Will definitely return and recommend a visit.

All was good I have been a few times and it’s always been a good standard

booked lunch by telephone, so went the next day at 1.15. ordered drinks which came and they asked for our order. all good. we then had to wait over an hour for the food and cannot recommend as chips were pre heated and cheese and beef burger not cooked properly. Would not recommend.

It is in a lovely setting however the food was not particularly good,, greasy and bland. In no hurry to visit again

What a beautiful spot, hidden gem but unfortunately the service was poor with staff preferring to conduct social conversations instead of serving customers. Little details missing including asking whether ice was wanted or even taking the table number for the food delivery. Really disappointing. And 15 minute wait for 2 x milkshakes at £5 each!!

Came along by chance, but what a find, beautiful setting near the river, great quality food and service. This is now firmly on our list to return.

Delicious food and lovely setting of this restaurant. The haddock and chips were gorgeous, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the staff were brilliant.

Second visit to this wonderful place. Very clean and amazing setting looking down to the river and awesome views and very relaxing and chilled out . I took my 91 yo Mum and we both we're more than happy with the young girl who served us . Very attentive and professional and friendly. Waited a while for the food which was fine looking at the view but when it came it was absolutely faultless. The flavours and quality of the food was well worth the wait and fantastic value for money . I've told my family and friends to go here as I would certainly recommend this beautiful place to anyone . Thankyou so much and we will be back for sure 🥣🍰🍷

Been before stayed before arrived at 12 took seats had drinks order taken. Food order was taken at 12.10 drinks arrived drank a full pot of tea. Food was coming out and looked good but not for us. At 1pm we asked what was going on 1st we were told the order was placed at 12.45pm we politely corrected this 2ndly we were told the waitress who placed our order was new and had made a mistake. We asked to cancel and pay for the drinks far from happy with the service and the lies.

We stayed at the touring site adjoined by/to the restaurant which is very nice. Birthday treat for me and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed everything. Wife had pie of the day and I had the steak . All freshly cooked and everything was great , the chips were amazing. Highly reccomend

Lovely place and friendly staff

Our first visit to Stepping Stones and we were very impressed. We didn’t have a reservation and it was very busy with those staying on the site but the staff found us a table straight away. The views are beautiful and the staff were very friendly. Service wasn’t the quickest but we could see it was busy so we didn’t mind. The food was lovely, and we were pleasantly surprised when we got the bill - very reasonable price. Will definitely be back.

Went out for a family meal we ordered and was told the total was 80 plus pounds for 3 meals and 3 drinks and some onion rings the girl had added extra meals on to the bill she then sorted it for us the food arrived fish and chips the fish was swimming in oil the side of onion ring had a pool of oil in the bowl then two more meals was brought to the table that had clearly not been taken off as no one else claimed them. We asked for sauces that was never brought to us and no one asked was the food ok! Very disappointing as we have been in the past and it has been lovely.

I found the the placee excellent and very friendly nothing is to much for them, the food is excellent.

Food was awful. Service was poor. A 9 pm the dining area was blasted by loud live music from bar area. Only gave 1 star as it wouldn't let me give less. This venue isn't a restaurant but more of a club housecfor the caravan site. Definately won't go back or recommend.

Staying on the caravan park and read the good reviews - they were right. Food was incredible, especially the wings and cauli wings. View was also lovely and a relaxed environment. Waitress was lovely.

Good GF selection but ordinary haddock and chips let it down with greasy chips and soggy batter. Bar staff and lay who served us were exceptional.

First visit here. Great food and great value. The staff are cheerful and friendly and the views are magnificent. It puts a lot of pricier venues to shame on many fronts. Well done.

Very nice pub definitely worth a visit the food was really good too we had fish and chips with onion rings. The fish was perfect really enjoyed our meal and view was fantastic watching the river pass by. If you're in the area definitely worth a visit. The people who work there are very Friendly and welcoming.

Sunday Roast Turkey. Perfect meat. Lovely vegetables. Poor potatoes not hot or crispy. Yorkshire puddings good. Fair price.

Delicious meal, I ate the lot apart from the sprouts which were on the raw side for me. Definitely will be back, we didn't know this place was there, give them a try you won't regret it

The food was absolutely amazing, couldn’t ask for any more due to the amazing chef. My pots were shiny thanks to the amazing pot wash. Absolutely impeccable. Great food at reasonable prices. Despite there being a children's party taking place the staff continued to smile and make time for people. Will definitely be back.

Lovely place, well worth a visit

Been camping here a few times, great central place to stay for visiting areas like Silverdale, Leighton moss, Garstang and Lancaster, etc. Welcome's kids and dog friendly as well, great pub with conservatory restaurant and great food. Can't fault the place

First time at the stepping stone, The staff were 100% and food food, well it was everything I wanted all spot on, and the service was great znd I will go again next week

Recommended by a friend so popped in for a meal today. Cauliflower starter, Steak and veg pie, partner had chicken. Absolutely lovely. Our waitress was amazingly pleasant and attentive. Lovely view over the gardens and river. Perfect 👌 Recommend to anyone. Thanks people great job.

First visit. Lovely location with great views. It’s a bit off the beaten track. The bar has a “holiday campsite” feel about it. Staff very friendly & efficient. Food was good for the money. I had cheese & onion baguette, healthy portion. Chips on side...

Called in yesterday 11/9/22 after been stuck in traffic . Found a great place to eat and a good pint of Guinness . Food was excellent and reasonably priced , staff friendly a great service we shall definitely be back .

We both enjoyed our meals. My husband had steak & vegetable pie, I had a small gammon with pineapple egg chips & peas. It was very good we really enjoyed the setting, we sat in the conservatory looking out at the lovely view.

Recently visited this restaurant for the first time and sorry to say disappointed with the meal. 2 of us ordered Cheese & Onion Pie with chips and peas. The pie crust was very hard and over cooked throughout and very hard at the crust end....

One beautiful place for a stopover or stay or a meal. U can spend the whole day here relaxing. Staff are very kind and welcoming :)

Absolutely fabulous. Food was excellent and very affordable. The service was way beyond expectations, in fact first class.

Looking for a riverside restaurant to enjoy a lunch before a long trip back from Lancaster we found this gem. Friendly staff, great food, massive portions, and gorgeous if somewhat precipitous garden leading down to a delightful rocky brook. Seems to be connections to various countryside paths although we didn't explore. Would definitely return. Tucked away on holiday home site we wouldn't have spotted this from the road.

Fab meal two nights running at stepping stones , the fiery pizza and loaded fries tonight was amazing great little place lovely food and staff can’t do enough for you will deffo come here again

What a gem ,brilliant service , the view was amazing and the food was lovely and the children loved the river and that slide Eleanor loved it xx
