Visited with granddaughter and my sister at 2.30pm last Wednesday to be told that they were no longer serving. We proceeded to sit outside whilst we decided what to do next only to then witness the waitress take orders from 3 more couples! The website also states that it closes at 4pm so why say they weren’t serving at 2.30pm?! I really don’t know why the waitress turned us away. It’s fine as I don’t want to spend any money at this cafe now after the rude customer service. I can only think that she didn’t want children in there (toddler) as the other customers had no children with them.

I visited here on Monday 14 October 2024 with my sister and my grand child. On arrival we saw a spare table inside that would be suitable for us and so I asked the waitress if there was another highchair available. She told me that she did have a highchair but that they had actually stopped serving. We were dissapointed but thought it was fair enough if they are due to close so we went and sat outside whilst we decided where to go next. During this time, we witnessed 3 other couples arrive at the cafe who were told it was hot drinks and cakes only - why weren't we told that??! We only wanted tea and cake! It made me check the website for closing times and it states that the cafe closes at 4pm. It was 2.30pm when we had arrived at the cafe! I really can't understand what her problem with us was, was it because we had a small child with us and you couldn't be bothered getting a high chair? I really don't know. She clocked that I noticed she was serving others too and never once came over to apologise, just looked sheepish. My money will spend anywhere and I will definitely not be supporting this local cafe when they pick and choose who to serve.

Its such a shame but I wont be returning. 35 mins to have a brew order taken 45mins and still not arrived, I had to leave as my lift had arrived. Poor woman was over rushed. Coat smelt of cooking for ages afterwards. Its a shame as we, used to, go every week after our Pilates class. We will be trying somewhere else. This isn't the first time this has happened, last time I left after 50 mins and our order hadn't even been taken. Such a shame and I did feel sorry for the staff.

Please get the quality back, we had 4 breakfasts and not impressive. Too much like a greasy spoon in the middle of blackpool. Not been here since it was taken over and thought I would pop in for a coffee and try it out. On entering the cafe 2 members of staff were decorating their Christmas tree. They both looked at me standing by the counter to order and turned back and carried on decorating their tree. Unbelievable!!! I should've walked out then. Eventually one came over took my order and my money and then continued to decorate the tree instead of making my coffee. I was really taken a back. I went to sit outside as it was a pleasant afternoon. One other member of staff came out and said she won't be long she's engrossed in her tree. My response was "I think maybe your service should be more important than your tree"??? I eventually got the coffee. Definitely will not be returning !!!

There was 3 of turned up for breakfast, easy order 3 courtyard breakfasts & 3 teas. We were told there was a 30-35 minute wait, we said fine and ordered. A table of 8 people turned up and ordered just after us, all different hot breakfast dishes. Their meals turned up, they had eaten, paid & were leaving before our food arrived. I asked politely if they knew how long it would be and we were told it was being plated up now, but it was still about 10-15 minutes before it arrived which made it almost an hour since we ordered. When it arrived there was an ingredient missing & only when we asked were we told that they'd run out, no offer of something else to make up for it was made. The food was of good quality, hot and tasty. I accept that the cafe was busy due to an event in the village but give every customer the same level of service, we were sat outside and we could see that customers inside had also eaten and left before we were served.

So after moving into the area up the road quite a few people was telling me how nice this place is , so yesterday Saturday 26th August me and my partner went for a spot of brunch for his birthday arriving around 11.45am we walked in looked quite busy, I asked the girl when we arrived do we just find a table ? She said yes so we sat down table waa dirty had a few plates on ect which they cleared up once we sat down was given a menu was told unfortunately there no sausage no bacon it's been one of those days I said that's fine no problem 😊, ordered our drinks latte and a tea , then ordered our food ham cheese tostie and marmalade with chunky chips great , After waiting for our drinks we was served a latte then still waiting for my tea which then arrived later which I couldn't understand why that was but never mind.... Then at the tills waiting I hear a guy saying can we order another bacon and sausage barm to take out they said yes took his order , but then I'm thinking we'll why did she say there was no bacon or sausage? O well sat there over half an hour waiting for two toasties coming up to 40 mins we had family arriving soon I went to the till told the young girls I'm really sorry we carnt wait any longer we have to leave can I pay for the drinks they offered us them complimentary which was very kind of them but I offered twice to pay as a business owner my self I did insist in paying but they wouldn't take my money, such a shame on our experience here after walking out feeling deflated , I did however notice they had a few issues with staff which I understand that but the service was poor , food carnt comment as it did not arrive, interior was nice, staff service was okie but maybe employe more experienced servers. Would I go back no unfortunately I wouldn't which is a shame as they are down the road and I like to support local businesses , Andrew and Luke

Visited today, fantastic little place, has the majority of cafe business in the village as no other cafe except village centre which isn’t open weekends. It has a lovely seating area at the front and inside, and a courtyard area to the back where dogs are allowed. Service whilst friendly was not the best, both our coffee order and food order took sometime to arrive, but have to say that when they did it was very tasty. Either needs a person in charge of ordering etc as not enough staff /ordering system. The front we so sat outside in the court yard at the back, where a little tlc would make a huge difference to the experience. Chairs were a tad tatty no seat pads/cushions so low. Tables had seen better days too. Weeds in the planters, also a dirty ashtray left in planter. Won’t take much to bring it back to its full potential. Hopefully this is a work in progress and will be rectified to offer its customers a more ambient surrounding.

I saw salted caramel latte with cream advertised on their board as a Christmas special, so went in and asked what food was available. Ended up with a turkey bap, lovely freshly sliced turkey with cranberry on a nice fresh bap. I was able to stand outside and eat it drinking the delightful coffee while chatting (socially distanced) with the owner, who was serving mulled wine outside. All very nice and a very enjoyable and pleasing pit-stop. Very happy to support a local business providing a welcome service under difficult circumstances

There does seem to be a common thread on here which is a great pity and that is rude staff,We called in at lunch time yesterday and went and sat down at a vacant table.A young woman came over and rudely said you cannot sit there that table is reserved. There was no reserved sign on the table, this was followed by you can go upstairs again in a very cold manor, so much so my husband looked at the man sat next to this table and said "well thats me told".We went upstairs to find it cold , wicker chairs with no cushions and uninviting, althogh their were 2 people sat there. We left. The menu looked very nice and reading other comments very nice, so sad its all to no avail with rude staff.I can however reccomemd the fish and chip shop opposite were we had a lovely lunch with excellent service.

The Courtyard Caffee Bar looks lovely on the outside yet very sadly on the inside, it is a totally different experience. Today, Wednesday June 5th 2019, my friend and I visited and served by a young lady who was unwelcoming and very unfriendly. Words fail me how such a delightful little Caffee Bar in Great Eccleston employs such a rude individual. I will not revisit nor will I recommend. The Management team needs to urgently look at their staffing. It seems there is a trend here of reviews describing poor customer service. It was also noted on our visit that the standard of cleanliness wasn’t too good. A deep clean is needed without delay.

Lovely food, fab service & a regular for me. The eggs Benedict is delicious as are the soup of the days. Everything is well presented by friendly staff, I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a catch up with friends or a breakfast or lunch.

Boring, dull November weather suddenly changed to a bright summers day which prompted us to go out for lunch. The Courtyard Caffe is a relatively short drive away but, as it has been consistently good, but we had not visited for a while, we thought another visit (and review) was in order. We purposefully went a little later than normal as lunchtime can be very busy so we aimed to eat between 13 and 14 hundred hours. We chose a table upstairs for a change and shared the room with just one other couple. As I generally like to eat soon after 12 noon, I was definitely ready for some sustenance and the gammon, egg and chunky chips on the specials board was just too tempting to resist. The gammon was a good size but modest in thickness, however it was nicely cooked, my only criticism being that the fat was not crisp enough for my taste. The accompanying fried egg was timed to perfection and, judging by the deep golden yoke, it was definitely free range. The chunky chips were exactly as described (almost like mini railway sleepers) and again, cooked perfectly. My other half enjoyed a steaming bowl of potato, courgette and cheese soup with bread to dip in.I passed on dessert but my other half was tempted by a seasonal sweet mince pie with cream laced with brandy - very nice too. A couple of coffees completed the meal. Service with a smile was quite prompt and it was an enjoyable experience and one that we keep coming back to.

Visited today for lunch with my son and was very disappointed with both the food and staff attitude. Our paninis had been thrown together with little thought and even less filling, one filling which was supposedly mozzarella was in fact cheddar. As previous reviewers have stated the chunky chips at £2.95 were cold and also a strange orange colour. More like frozen than fresh. The side salad was browning and limp. My main complaint, however, is to the rude staff. On paying I stated we had been disappointed with our food and like another reviewer we too were met with scowls and abuse. Another staff member even came from the kitchen and was equally abusive. I really don't think just for stating you had not enjoyed your food does it warrant having your change slammed into your palm.Steer well away from this "caffe" and if you fancy a sandwich pop to the Cartford Inn at Little Eccleston instead - I wish we had.

We regularly visit the Caffe at weekends for lunch or treats with the children and are never disappointed! The staff are lovely and are always great with the children! The food is thoroughly enjoyable and theres always a great choice of seasonal specials from Salads to Homemade Pies to suit every appetite! Cakes are particularly deelish and we always come home with takeaway cake.. Caramel slice is the best in the north west! Decors modern and fresh and if the suns shining the courtyards to the back is a great little place to soak up some sun and dine al fresco!

Have visited the courtyard caffe for many years, and it has always been consistent. Until now, that is! We went along for breakfast, my husband and I and our two young daughters. The bacon sandwiches were ok as was the chocolate cake. We asked for a small beans on toast for our 7 yr old daughter, which came with one slice of well-fired toast covered with beans..not very appealing to a 7 yr old. (Also surprisingly the same price as the main menu...no reduction for one slice) A chocolate cookie was ordered which arrived on a coffee-splattered plate. To be honest, it wasnt impressive, and the atmosphere was the same. It lacked any warmth and the staff looked like they couldn't be bothered. They were out of appletiser and the only scones available were fruit. We could have spent our £25 better elsewhere, and we will in future.

First and last visit today. Food was average and service poor. From the outside it looks welcoming enough but food was served without a smile and with minimum conversation. Not an enjoyable experience and we won't be returning.

This is a non pretentious village café serving good straightforward food for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. We went for a light lunch and the choice was more than adequate. We had one salad and one ciabata. Both freshly prepared and good of their kind. Service was very friendly and helpful. The small courtyard at the rear is delightful but with typical Lancashire weather we had an inside day.The cakes, scones etc were superb and we bought some to take home.Definitely recommend and will return.

I had heard a lot about this place.the service and food were good not spectacular: the chairs were a little uncomfortable but it's a cafe not a restaurant I guess -like the touch with the elevator trolley serving grub from upstairs to down. The ladies were charming as was the company and its a nice stop off point before exploring the villages.Overall a decent experience but by no means a classic gourmet memory

Have been eating at the Courtyard for several years now and the food on offer plus the service is as good as ever. Good varied menu plus specials board. Licensed, therefore some tasty beers and wine on offer, too. My current favorite for lunch is "cheese and ham toasty on wholemeal bread" - totally mouthwatering ham and melted cheese with just enough fresh salad (I hate being over faced with mountains of straggly salad when all I really want is some tasty comfort food). Great cup of proper coffee to follow. Unfortunately, I don't usually have room for a dessert but the sticky toffee pudding looks very nice. Can get very busy at lunchtime and tables sometimes get reserved. Occasionally, they do evening meals which usually get booked up early. It's cosy and clean and the staff are great. Although only a small village, there is plenty of parking in the square. Note: this is more limited on market days (Wed).

The restuarant is well presented and offers food from breakfast thro to afternoon tea. Unfortunately only open in evening for special events. We usually to have a hot lunch chosen from the specials boards. With one minor blip the food has been excellent and is clearly cooked to order. Service is friendly just as you would want from a locally owned cafe. On last trip we found they do a limited take away range which is very good value and clearly popular with local workers. If you want a snack try the cakes. We were told these are made by a local person and have been unfailingly good. We have taken children there and made to feel welcome which is not always the case with smaller cafes. The owner Monica is local and it is good to see her supporting local suppliers. Currently this is the best restaurant food in the village by some distance.Check on their website to see what it is like and in summer try to sit in the courtyard it is delightful.

This was a difficult call. I went in on Sunday and had a lovely breakfast, proper saussages ( not the sort dished up at the majority of places which are a mush inside!) , good quality ingredients and well cooked, good coffee/ tea at a reasonable price for the standard of food. The difficult call is that whilst I can honestly, and happily, give 4* for that I would give an "average" for the rest and it is a little on the expensive side too. When I write that I only have beakfasts here I'm sure you will understand what I am meaning. It is an attractive place, clean with chatty waitresses. Would benefit from a change in the pudding department though. Not everybody likes pies and sticky toffee pud.

It's always good to return to the same place where you enjoyed a good experience and find nothing has changed. We returned to the Stepping Stones for Saturday lunch with a couple of friends. Given that we had told them how good it was, it was a worry - what if it had changed hands and gone downhill since our last visit? Fortunately there was nothing to fear! We received a warm welcome and were seated where we could appreciate the scenery bathed in some rare sunshine. Arriving at Noon, we were warned that they would be putting up Halloween decorations for a children's party taking place later - they apologised and hoped we didn't mind - we would need to be out of the conservatory by 2pm. Not a problem. So we were entertained by the staff team putting up an interesting array of spooky items and finally by the first arrivals, suitably garbed and face=painted. Everyone agreed that the food was everything we had hoped and, though my wife had a choice of several GF menu items, she went straight for the GF fish 'n' chips, something she can only rarely enjoy. The feathered blade of beef (also GF) was very much enjoyed too. I am told that the treacle toffee sponge was delicious. Our friends, who were driving separately, did query the location with us, so we had to assure them that, yes, it is up a farm lane and at a holiday caravan park. Buy don't let first appearances fool you. The food and drink are sensibly priced and the portions just about right. It was a good start to our holiday - we will return. Keep up the good work!

Been to Hugo's many times for food or an ice cream and it's always been very good, however yesterday was totally uninspiring. Called for some ice creams and the service was appalling and despite being 4 staff on the counter and originally only one person in the queue before us. People kept coming from the soft play area and being continually served before us and even someone new who had just walked in were about to be served before we said something. Two of the three ice creams were full of ice crystals and lacking in flavour. Shame because we've always enjoyed calling in Hugo's but certainly won't be rushing back, maybe all the effort is going into their new bistro in Garstang.

A very traditional cafe to visit. The food was fantastic and the prices were very good, a must to try ! The staff were more than helpful to my self and my partner who was in a wheelchair, they made it easy for us to get a table and most of all very welcoming to both of us . We will definitely be coming back.

We went for a large family meal 12+ people reserved. When we arrived they had run out of carvery knowing they had a reservation so we made due but when ordering we where also told they had ran out or steaks for the mix grill. We made due yet again but the food was cold and bland only redeeming quality was the outside area for are party. I will also add when paying the card machine automatically asks for a tip before you have even tasted your food or had service min options being 15%.
