Stem + Glory in Cambridge

Worst vegetarian dining experience I have had in the UK. I said to the server clearly that we wanted the small plates as starters, then he said all together right and then tutted when I said I asked for them as starters. Due to the poor attitude of the server I then decided against ordering sides with my main, and only ordered tap water when I was going to have a beer. The Garlic Bread was actually a raw pizza base with a smearing of grease and tasteless seasoning. The bang bang broccoli was more like poop poo broccoli it did not look very well presented, not very appetising and tasted inedible. The 'Sea bass' was tasteless and cold on top of hard undercooked raw potato and my friends pizza had a raw base. We felt intimidated by the staff who were great at looking at us but poor In their communication or customer service

We chose Stem and Glory because it had appeared in a BBC TV show. It was also close to where we were staying overnight, near Cambridge Railway Station. The best thing about the restaurant was the service. Our waiter Lewis was very responsive to our needs - we have an infant - bringing us a high chair, liaising with the kitchen management about preparing food for the little guy, and generally making our visit very warm and pleasant. The food - plant-based - was pretty tasty. For starters, we ordered the BBQ cauliflower wings, which my husband and I wolfed down. For the mains, we ordered the Tuscan sweet potato gnocchi and "Dirty burger", both of which were tasty but not outstanding. The desserts however were something else, particularly the rich and decadent "raw choc marble torte". All in all, we had a lovely evening out, bellies full and smiles all round (even for the little guy) despite the horrendous weather.

I took a team of colleagues to Stem & Glory for dinner. Our server, Eponine, was extremely helpful and pleasant. She made our visit a delight. The food was great, as was the atmosphere. See you next time!

This was our first visit to this plant based restaurant, and we would definitely recommend it. The menu offered a good range of different types of cuisines, the food was really tasty and beautifully presented and portion sizes were good. The service was friendly too. Overall, it was a great experience.

I visited Stem & Glory for lunch with my family (my wife, 9 year and 4 year old) and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The portion sizes were large, the service was friendly and attentive. They have a wide range of items in the menu and it has something for all ages and all taste palettes from Indian inspired Tikka Malasa to Pizzas to Tacos to Fusion dishes to fries. We have visited several plant based restaurants in the States and this place stands out for its unique menu and extra ordinary service. Strongly recommend for anyone looking for a wholesome plant based meal.

We had lunch for our wedding anniversary and Gemma served us. She offered us a complimentary drink for our anniversary which is a lovely gesture! We had pre ordered from the alium free menu. Everything was amazing, even the coffee! It is so refreshing to eat somewhere all your dietary needs are met and the food is delicious! It has a lovely ambience and the staff and very helpful and friendly! Our new favourite place to eat! We shall definitely return as soon as possible 😊

Loved the decor and the food, and staff were friendly, but unfortunately one pre-ordered meal was "lost", which impacted on us eating together. I would go again but one other thing that needs improving is the maintenance of the washroom - this hosted small flies at the time of our visit.

What a wonderful restaurant this is! The food is so tasty and our waitress, Gemma, was friendly and helpful. I recommend it highly. I’ll certainly have a meal there next time I’m in Cambridge, especially since it’s so close to the railway station.

Had a gorgeous, super yummy meal at Stem and Glory. I ordered the Asian bowl, and it was so filling and felt so good eating all those vegetables. I also started with a bang bang broccoli, which tasted delicious. Our server Tiago, was so helpful and friendly ( also had a gorgeous manicure, crystals and all!) , and so was everyone else; all the staff were super lovely. It felt like a neighborhood restaurant with all the charm. Finished my meal with the most delicious Matcha latte I have ever had. Will definitely be coming back!

My family and I came here for a birthday lunch and it was so incredibly lovely. As three vegans, we always have to struggle to find somewhere nearby with more than one option for us to eat! So, eating here, where there are so many delicious vegan options to choose from, we couldn't have picked a better place to spend our afternoon. Served by Gemma and Tiago, two very sweet waiters, we felt very comfortable and accounted for. I can't wait for my next meal out here and will be raving about it to both vegans and non-vegans alike!

Stem and Glory is a reliably excellent meal out. Every time I've visited, the staff and the food have been perfect.. the only hard part is choosing whether to pick my favourite dish (the excellent cioppino) or try something new. The dishes are so gorgeous, it's a great place for both vegans and non-vegans.

If you are going to have a vegan restaurant you need to ensure that the vegetables are cooked well. My starter consisted of the sort of over cooked broccoli that my grandmother would make and the even more disappointing main course of mushy aubergine in a very over powering,and not very nice tasting, Szechuan sauce. I had high hopes of this vegan restaurant but I won’t be going back.

I was delighted to find this excellent plant-based restaurant improbably located just outside Cambridge station. I enjoyed a delicious spinach and artichoke pizza and a comfort food classic - pear crumble.

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst visiting Cambridge and snagged a reservation for Saturday. One of the most inventive vegan menus I've seen as a lifelong vegetarian. Great wine list. Excellent price points throughout considering the inflationary pressures on restaurant raw materials. Service was also excellent. We can't wait to visit the London location now we are home!

As 2 non-vegan but open-minded vegetarians, we were interested to try this restaurant. Overall, the food was decent but a bit mixed, the portions generous, the ambience disappointing. For a place charging regular restaurant prices (~£58 for 2 courses and a beer each, plus service), the atmosphere is decidedly un-cosy. The open kitchen and industrial-style décor is on-trend, but it is accompanied by hard chairs, melamine tables, harsh lighting… it felt like a canteen. Young serving staff were pleasant enough – I’m not suggesting more obsequiousness – but again they gave the look and feel of a fast-food joint.The veggie burger, fries and salad made a really good, well-executed dish (although… ‘is salt not vegan?’ whispered my partner, glancing around at his fries and all the cruet-less tables). The tomato-based stew promised interesting vegetable ingredients like mushrooms and palm hearts, but was almost exclusively tofu. Pleasant flavour, but even a vegan only needs so much tofu. The toffee pudding – a nice enough cake, but not sticky (why? – caramel sauce can be vegan, so why just give it a squirt of caramel frosting instead?) And the raw chocolate cake – another pleasant flavour, but incredibly heavy and dense – maybe a vegan egg-white substitute is needed? I'm not sure we'll return. But with some tweaks it could be a great vegan place, not merely a decent one.

Given how far vegan food has come over the last few years, i'm surprised at the lack of inventiveness, flavour, and variety in the menu. I had eaten at the original stem and glory on king street and the food was much better there so i was disappointed this has not continued. Perhaps it is just s glitch, and the good food will return!The starters were great (kimchi pancakes, broccolini) , but the mains (szechuan aubergine, ciopppino) and desserts (cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding) were a real let down.The mains were lacking flavour, and the szechuan aubergine didn't taste like szechuan. The rice was dry and falvourless and took away from the already under-flavoured aubergine. The cioppino was better but lacked depth. The puddings were the worst of all, they tasted shop bought (i'm not saying they were but the taste was quite fake). The sticky toffee pudding was so dry and the sauce didn't taste very nice and there was only a tiny drizzle. Sticky toffee pudding is meant to be soaked in the sauce, so it is moist. I wanted to be able to bring friends and family here to show how good vegan food can be. But i can cook better vegan food at home. I unfortunately won't be returning any time soon as it wasn't worth the money. Such a shame. I hope things turn around though as i'd love to be tempted back, and i hope the business is a success!

Enjoyed this visit more than previous ones- we had two small plates and a pizza between the two of us. The gnocchi was really nice, especially the mushrooms, and the hoummous was fine, although quite expensive for what it was. The pizza was good, we had the Italian sausage one. The peppers felt basically raw on it but I think that was intentional. We had an offer where the small plates were free, I thought this was good that there weren’t loads of strings attached like some places! I thought the food was good, but still rather on the pricey side for what you get. Service was much better this time as well. I like that it’s all vegan, as a vegetarian, and I will leave less of a long gap before my next visit

I visited because I was eating out with a friend who was vegan. I myself am not a vegan, but I love trying out plant based foods. My curiosity was rewarded with an lovely range of interesting flavours and textures. The golden hummus was light and flavorsome; combined with the the amazing multiseed cracker and pickled slices of kohlrabi it was a great dish. The Kimchi Pancakes had a delightfully balanced mix of Korean-inspired tastes. The fish taco, however, did not live up to expectation. The thin strips of "fish" had been fried too long and tasted almost burnt and without any taste of "fish" The taco was limp and also without any particular flavour, unless you bit into one of the peperoni slices generously scattered on the dish. My friend was smitten with the raw fudge cake - a generous portion and unexpectedly light texture. I had hot cherry crumble. The sugar in the hot cherry kompott unfortunately was overpowering the cherry flavour and the crumble part, in my opinion, was disappointing, whereas the warm custard hit the spot in its gentle flavour and creamy texture. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Earlier on in the evening the clientele was on the young side and after 20:00 the average age went up. It almost felt as it the background music was adjusted according to the clientele. If this were true it would be a nice touch. Overall a happy experience, but felt given the ingredients of the food were not of a particularly expensive nature, the high prize tag for the food was not justified.

This was our first time visiting and I can honestly say it was the best plant based food we had in the restaurant!!! We didn’t have a lot of expectations because of previous experiences in different places but this really impressed both of us. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. I could not recommend this place enough. I would say if u never had a plant based meal and u are wondering what’s the fuss about it you must try this place! Vegetables are wonderful flavourful things if cooked well. Not so our dinner at Stem and Glory. Cauliflower wings starter: overcooked and covered in a 1cm thick crust of breadcrmbs and an overpowering, salty sauce. Broccolini starter: Same problem. Over cooked, overpowering crumbs and salty sauce. Tagine: swimming in overpowering salty sauce, with dead vegetables. I am someone who never complains and finishes everything on his plate. Not so at S&G.Staff were courteous and food arrived quickly.
