Worst vegetarian dining experience I have had in the UK. I said to the server that we wanted small plates as starters, then he said all together right and then tutted when I said I asked for them as starters. Due to the poor attitude of the server I then decided against ordering sides with my main, and only ordered tap water when I was going to have a beer. Starters - The Garlic Bread was actually a pizza base, raw in the middle with a smearing of grease and tasteless seasoning. The bang bang broccoli was more like poop poo broccoli it did not look very well presented, not very appetising and tasted inedible. Mains - The 'Sea bass' was tasteless and cold on top of hard undercooked raw potato and my friends pizza had a raw base. We felt intimidated by the staff who were great at looking at us but poor In their communication or customer service. Lots of use of bare hands in the kitchen, generally looked like they didn't know what they were doing. Waiter made several trips to the toilet so we did hope he washed his hands in there. Being vegan for most of my life I am of course a supporter of vegan businesses so it takes a lot for me to post this, however the food and customer service were both equally disgusting enough to warrant this review. There appear to be many fake 5 star reviews on here from profiles with 1 or no other reviews, and questionable names. The company seems hungry for 5 star reviews whilst customers lose their appetite. 3 tips for anyone thinking about having a meal at Stem and Glory Cambridge - 1. Avoid 2. Don't bother 3. Go somewhere else .. .. Updated following the owners response - The owner's response is clearly vexacious as they have edited it a few times. They first wrote a lot of defamatory and insulting comments, which the reader can see in the screenshot attached. They sharply realised they were in the wrong and edited this. I can assure the reader that neither of us were intoxicated and I was actually put off from having my first beer of the evening by the unwelcoming atmosphere and rude staff. Anyone thinking about visiting this restaurant should know they will be insulted and mocked by the restaurant if you dare complain about the ghastly food they serve. This matter will be escalated to the council food safety enforcement team due to the raw food we were served and questionable hygiene and food preparation standards which we noticed

Great atmosphere on a Saturday night the service was also fab for a large table. Starters were amazing however the tacos main was very disappointing. They literally crumbled in my hand. I was unable to pick it up and had to use a knife and fork to finish the meal. I would also say that the Taste wasn’t very great either. I ordered a can of flavoured water which was £5 so when severed in a tall glass of ice it really took away any hint of flavour. I did bring this up to the waiter who said that’s how it’s served so be specific when ordering things. The tiramisu was delicious! The meal was quite expensive for what it’s worth

This is upsetting, because it feels like this lovely restaurant may close and I’ve just found it! I went here the first night of my being in Cambridge, then the following 2 days. Whilst I’m usually a burger person, the first day I chose the Czechuan aubergine with a side of seasonal greens. The greens were an entire plate, enough for two people and paired with my aubergine plate it was one of the best meals I’ve had. The following day I was tempted to have the aubergine again, but in the spirit of trying new things I thought I’d try the fillet of sea bass. I was a little doubtful, and was kinda regretting it because tofu as fish is rarely good. But this actually tasted like fish and so beautifully cooked I think this is now my favourite. The 3rd visit I had the burger. This was probably my least favourite- still very tasty, but given the other 2 are amongst my top meals ever it’s tough competition for the dirty burger, tbh. But in any case, the chefs here are so skilled they’re kinda wasted for a burger that u can get anywhere. As I left, they gave me a free tiramisu, which was delicious as was their lemon tart. I say I think they may close because they were very quiet- so for the sake of if not yourself and your palate, go for me so they remain open! 😂

I hadn't been here in a couple of years and it's been nice to be back! Great and tasty selection of vegan foods and lots of interesting alcohol-free drink options made this a very nice experience 😊 The sharer tacos and a side was plenty for 2 people. A really great place, whether you're un Cambridge for longer or just (as was the case with us) stuck there for an hour between trains and need a nice dinner ✨

Lovely meal. Only criticism is that there were extremely hot chillies in the tacos from the children's menu for my 11 year old daughter.

Stem & Glory turned out to be a fantastic find just a short walk from our Air BnB, and we’re so glad we gave it a try. Although we’re not plant-based or vegan, this restaurant might just have convinced us otherwise. The menu strikes a great balance—diverse but not overwhelming. We started with the kimchi-stuffed onigiri, which was both flavorful and delightful. The dipping sauce, a tangy ginger with a hint of sriracha, added a perfect kick. For my main course, I had the Spicy Szechuan Style Aubergine (eggplant for my fellow Americans). It was satisfyingly spicy and enjoyable, though it leaned more towards a sweet and sour sauce rather than a traditional Szechuan flavor. My husband had the tempeh tikka masala, which had a bold flavor (which you look for in an. curry) and had a great spicy kick. We also tried the roast potatoes, which were perfectly seasoned and roasted. We enjoyed the food so much that we did a takeaway order of their pizzas another night, and those were equally impressive.

Our visit to Stem & Glory was a revelation! My husband booked a table on a recent visit to Cambridge as a treat for me as I prefer plant based food although he is a meat eater. We were both blown away by the clever combinations of flavours and ingredients to create amazing dishes. The "cheesecake" was one of the best desserts we have ever eaten and we were each delighted with our choice of starters and main courses too. As I am a hearing aid user I found the atmosphere a little noisy but as the restaurant was fully booked on a Wednesday evening it was to be expected.

It was the perfect way to end our visit to Cambridge, and such a delightful surprise! You wouldn't expect to find such delicious food near the railway station. We ordered the vegan King Oyster Scallops and Thai Crab Cakes as small plates, and the Fillet of Sea Bass and Redefine Fillet Mignon as large plates. Every single dish was excellent. I’ve been vegan for 7 years and have traveled a lot, but this restaurant is the best I’ve ever been to. It's a pity they are only in Cambridge for now. However, if you're in Cambridge, whether you're vegan or not, I highly recommend visiting Stem & Glory. Your taste buds will be dancing and singing!

As a couple of kiwi vegans who are also gluten free we find it hard to find suitable food eating out even more so in the UK, beans on potato seems to be about it. We stumbled across Stem and Glory walk around Cambridge on a summer evening, the food was to die for , some of the best we have ever had, the service was first class and the venue relaxed. Food wasn't appetising at all. It feels like what vegan restaurants were like a decade ago, trying too hard and overcomplicating dishes with way too many flavours. Olives, beetroot bacon, spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, sweet potato gnocchi. That's just too much for one dish. Couldn't eat it. We ate maybe 30% of our meals. I gave the waitress honest feedback but no discount. Our Spritz were extremely watered down as well.

TLDR: I've had better meals, service, and atmosphere in a Wetherspoon. My friend and I attempted to dine here yesterday and were excited to try somewhere new. The service started fine as the manager accommodated our request to sit away from the toilets. Apparently all the tables were booked, which was strange as we only saw a handful of customers the entire time we were there. Then came the waiter, who didn't seem to understand our order, or know the difference between their Marinara Pizza and Margarita Pizza. But I assume he was trying his best. The starters arrived, and it was just naff. The garlic bread was very greasy and not very garlicky. My friend’s Bang Bang Broccoli was flavourless. But despite this we were anticipating the mains. For a main, my friend had the vegan Sea Bass which was undercooked and flavourless. I had the vegan Margarita pizza, which tasted funny. I assumed it was just the restaurant using some sort of cheap nasty imitation cheese, but then my friend pointed out that the pizza base was raw in the middle. Grim! We pointed this out to the manager, who cut the bill, which was nice of her I suppose. But in retrospect, we should have refused to pay for the few ghastly mouthfuls of food we did actually eat. My friend posted a review of the restaurant on here after visiting. I would have left it at that, but the cheeky buggers replied to my friend’s review, commenting on our “appearing intoxicated and your rudeness and strange behaviour”. Neither of us had drank anything before visiting and, rather than clarify what strange behaviour they were referring to, the cowards deleted their comment. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this place. The staff clearly think they are entitled to your custom and will insult you if you dare to expect simple things like edible, properly cooked food.

I have to say I was disappointed with this place. I really wanted to like it. We ordered the cauliflower wings, the tempeh tikka massala and the szechuan aubergine. I only liked the last one. The cauliflower only tasted of whatever the cover it with and it was like eating flour and the tempeh was disappointing, didn't enjoy the texture, it was not pleasant in the mouth. I'm just a bit shocked that there seem not to be quality control. Things need to taste nice to sell them, looking nice in photos is not enough to have a restaurant.

Terrible service although they charge 10% service charge, no cutlery, had to take it of another table, no dessert menu offered, had to ask for the bill as we were fed up of waiting. Only one other table. The waiting staff were busy on their phones, the risotto of peas and asparagus had no asparagus and wasn't arborio rice more like a rice they use for paella, was very dry and tasteless. A shame we drove one hour to try this place out, very disappointed.

I am not a vegan, never have been and never intend to be so. However, arriving by train to Cambridge in the late evening on a Friday, hungry and in need of a drink, this restaurant was the first we came to after leaving the station entrance. The restaurant was full, the atmosphere was really good and the food being brought to the tables looked amazing. We were approached by a member of staff, Thiago, who asked if we had made a reservation, which we said we had not. He asked if we were prepared to wait for five minutes. As this was our first time in Cambridge and didn’t know of anywhere else to go, we said we would. In less than 5 minutes, a table became available. We ordered simple starters, olives and harissa nuts. For the main course, my wife ordered pea, mint & asparagus risotto from the summer specials menu, and I ordered the King Oyster Bowl. The food was beautifully presented when it arrived, and the taste when eating it was divine. The portion size of both meals were good and neither my wife nor I needed a dessert. The bill for two starters, two mains and two drinks was very reasonable, and the service from Thiago and his colleague (possibly called Cam) was tip top. If vegan food is as good as this then I may consider turning partial vegan. All in all, a very positive experience made really good by great food and great staff. Well done guys.

Visiting from Brighton as this menu looked great and wanted to try. Service was polite and friendly, sat outside as weather was lovely. Had the mushroom scallops and Italian sausage pizza which was generous and the base was spot on. The only negative was that the menu said fries however when served they were more potato wedges and quite chunky. Wifey had the harisa tofu which went down a treat. For desert we opted for raspberry sorbet and the choc cheesecake with blood orange sorbet, both great. Would come back to try more of the menu.

This vegan restaurant truly stands out with its commitment to fresh, organic ingredients, and it shows in every dish they serve. The menu is a delightful array of vibrant, flavorful options that cater to all tastes. Each dish was not only beautifully presented but also bursting with freshness. It’s clear that the chefs prioritize using the highest quality organic ingredients, making every bite a treat. The coffee at Stem & Glory is simply outstanding. Came here for a Sunday lunch. The food was fantastic, we had the king oyster “scallops” these were melt in the mouth, missing a little sea flavour and a touch on the small side. Bang bang broccoli, this was to die for, quite a big portion, so glad we shared. Nice kick of spice added to it. Fillet mignon was our main, this was so good, the truffle really came through the sauce, my only criticism is that there was a lot of pepper, a little too much for my taste. Overall a great meal.

I came across Stem and Glory when searching Google for plant based and gluten free dining close to Wyboston. When Cambridge came up I thought ok, it's not too far and I haven't been for ages. I looked over their menus and was impressed, but then I spotted their Allium free menu I was blown away... I had to cut out garlic and onion several years ago and it has made it even more difficult to eat out especially after becoming plant based. I contacted the restaurant about the gluten free options and within 20 minutes I had a response from Jim giving great news, most of the dishes were GF that were on the Allium Free menu. As it was our anniversary I discussed the menus with my wife and we chose the same starter, our separate mains and desserts. Jim kept in touch and confirming all of our choices and our booking. We were greeted on the day by Gemma and the rest of the team and immediately felt welcomed. The whole dining experience was amazing, starter to finishing with an espresso. We even bought the cook book and I made something when I got home for supper. It really made our anniversary even more special. We will happily drive the 60 minutes+ to visit again. Looking forward to the next visit and hopefully one of their cookery courses... If you're in the area check them out. If you are not, then they are are short walk from the train station so have a day out in Cambridge and stop there for lunch, dinner or both.

Really disappointed with the flavours and quality of the food here. The kimchi pancakes tasted really horrible, the flavour of the broccoli starter was quite bad too. The gnocchi was also overly stodgy/heavy. It seems like they're trying to be very inventive, but without success. There were also no pizzas available at all, which was a shame given half of my party were going to order pizzas. It's a shame, because there aren't many vegan restaurants in Cambridge - but having visited places like Tofu Vegan, Mallow and Mildreds in London, which are not a million miles off in terms of price, this comes nowhere near. Perhaps it was a one-off night - the decent reviews might suggest this was the case. However, I am unlikely to return.

I was really excited to visit this place with a friend, but I was utterly disappointed. The portions were decently sized, but the food was bland. Despite using various ingredients, we couldn't taste much flavor in any of the dishes. Additionally, there was a spicy sauce on almost everything, which overwhelmed any other flavors. For starters, we ordered the barbecue cauliflower wings, but they lacked barbecue flavor. The Thai crab cakes were similarly overpowered by the chili sauce. For mains, we tried the king oyster bowl, which was completely tasteless except for some spicy sauce, and the pumpkin ravioli, where the herb butter sauce masked the flavors of the mushrooms and pumpkin. Edit for owner's response: Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my review. However, upon careful reading of my review, you'll notice that I wasn't surprised by the spiciness of the dishes. I did read the menu, and the issue I encountered was that the spicy sauce overwhelmed everything else on the dish, leaving no other flavors to be enjoyed. Thanks!

I got the king oyster bowl and it was both more substantial and better quality than I'd hoped for. Staff really friendly and accommodating

Attentive & friendly service, chill atmosphere, tasty food and nice cocktails. A varied menu with plenty to choose from & all plant-based! 🌱 We enjoyed our mains; the pumpkin ravioli is served with plenty of buttery sauce which masked the flavour of the pumpkin somewhat, but was still delicious. The small plates are the highlight, so I’d recommend getting a bunch of those. The jackfruit tacos, garlic bread & tiramisu were also 👌🏼 Generous portion sizes too

Everything was okay, food was okay, service was okay and cleanliness was okay. Sea bass was slightly dry. Food came quickly which was good as we had a working lunch. I definitely would not rush back, possibly I would return if they improved the customer service and food quality

Firstly Stem and Glory is really conveniently placed for train users. It's a tiny few steps away from Cambridge station. If you are parking up the station can be expensive but when compared to an uber park and ride etc it's worth it. Stem and Glory have got the perfect menu size. Not too much for your indecisiveness but more than enough options for any taste. The drinks menu is the opposite. A very comprehensive list for any taste or vibe, cocktails, beers, wines, mocktails galore. My last visit was Sunday evening and they do a vegan"Beef" roast dinner. (see pics) This was an astoundingly accomplished roast. As the menu proves time and again ever item is very high quality and beautifully presented. The roast itself was succulent and tender with great density and bite with a great authentic flavour better than even juicy marbles. Stem and Glory is 100% vegan. If it wasn't I would have had a very hard time trusting that this protein wasn't accidentally animal cadaver. The vegetables were perfectly roasted and flavours and the red wine gravy was perfect in flavour and portion. Really filling, very delicious, despite my untrustworthy compliment to texture and flavour being authentic. Pear crumble was generous and very naughty tasting. Flup. Yum. The staff are very polite and greeting. They make sure that you have all you need and are helpful with selections if you require. 100% recommend you get there and support this fine dining experience.

Booked for our anniversary dinner and had such a lovely time. Staff were friendly and attentive, the food was excellent, in fact it was so good we ended up heading back for Sunday lunch the next day! I have to say, the redefine beef flank blew my mind, so tasty, we will definitely be back.

I'm not a vegan at all, so I was really skeptical at the thought of trying another vegan burger... I'm so glad I had the Dirty burger here!!! It was the most savory delicious and satisfying vegan burger I've ever had in my meat eating life! It's even better than some smash burgers back in the USA! The bang bang broccoli were also delicious, and the raspberry cheesecake was inventive and fun - but the cheeseburger was the star of the show. I'll return to have another one sometime!

Such delicious food, such friendly service (thank you lovely Faith) and nice relaxing ambience too. This was my second visit. The first time I visited I had my dog with me-yes they are dog friendly. This visit was booked in advance for a table of 6. Unfortunately the pizza oven was broken so we had to rethink our orders, but honestly we'd have happily eaten anything on the menu. Service was super friendly and fast. Coffee was good. The oyster mushroom tacos were light, fresh and delicious. My partner and I shared the caramel tiramisu-vegan tiramisu is very hard to come by and this was light and delicious, served with a creamy espresso shot. I love this part of Cambridge-the area by the station is full of places to grab food or a coffee and there is plenty of parking (although the station car park will set you back £12.50!). Register your blue badge online (guidance on the signage) to benefit from free parking.

Three dishes we order were all very sharp taisting like vinegar and it was all too hot! Maybe the sharpness and chill don't go together? The Sichuan aubergine didn't taste of aubergine as the sauce overpowerd it.

What a lovely, friendly restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend a visit when in Cambridge. The food was delicious and expertly presented. Portion sizes were good, especially the desserts. The service was excellent and I'm already looking forward to returning for their Sunday roast menu!

I was so looking forward to this place when a friend booked it as the reviews were so positive and the photos of the food looked great. Plus being inventive with vegan food is normally a big win in my books. Sadly for me it was the worst restaurant meal I can remember. Firstly the long bench cushions, although comfy, were dirty and covered in water stains. Thankfully the loo was clean and well-maintained. I ordered the 'sea bream' - basically tofu with potatoes and veg - and could not have been more disappointed. The tofu was utterly flavourless and reminded me of when you're trying to batter something but the oil temperature is so low that it just soaks up all the grease and never gets crispy. And I normally like the taste of tofu. Plus the portion size was very very small - perhaps 2 or 3 new potatoes at most - much smaller than the other dishes. I also tried some of the gnocchi, and found it dense and claggy. None of my friends were particularly impressed with the food that night. We then tried to split the bill using their QR code and "app" (it's just a webpage) and don't get me started on technical issues. It's not worth attempting to use it. To be fair to the restaurant, I did not raise my concerns with the food at the time because we had somewhere else to go to and I wasn't in the mood to be 'that person' so they were not given the opportunity to rectify it. Our server got the job done (took the order, brought the food, took the payment) but didn't provide any other hospitality - no asking how the food was, no asking if we wanted more drinks, not especially personable. Overall, the food was definitely style and no substance. It looks good on camera but really didn't hit the mark.

Gorgeous service and lovely setting. The food was really underwhelming. I had the Sea Bream which was the most expensive dish on the menu. It was totally flavourless and the potatoes, with the stodgy 'fish' was not what I'd hoped for. Very dry and lacking in flavour. I asked for some oil and balsamic which helped give a bit of flavour, but overall the dish was very dry and flavourless. No ingenuity. Incredibly basic concept. The margaritas were lackluster too. Lacking in acid or sugar, I couldn't put my finger on it. Tasted quite weak and used table salt for the rim. Disappointing food but the service was really good, very friendly staff.

Very lovely vegan restaurant in Cambridge. The selection was very interesting, I tried the oyster mushroom bowl while my husband had pumpkin ravioli. We shared the black forest cake for dessert. It's always refreshing to go to a vegan restaurant, the oyster mushrooms were flavored perfectly. I also got the cookbook, excited to try some of their signature recipes. A bit of a shame that the bowl itself wasn't among the recipes in the book, but the ones available all sound just as great.

Decided to choose Stem & Glory purely down to Google recommendations for gluten-free restaurants in the Cambridge area, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and very generous portions for both mains and dessert!! Can't wait to come back and try out the other dishes on the menu 😋

Was really disappointed by our meal here, weird experimental hummus didn't hit, undercooked potatoes and burned brocoli in two separate dishes, a very mid curry, all really expensive for what it was. I guess if you want to be experimented on this might be a good place to try but for nice hearty food no way

I got food poisoning here! On an overnight trip to Cambridge, I got the lunch menu and it turn out that the Kimchi was potentially mouldy. I did not eat anything else after this meal, and immediately felt pains in my stomach after one hour in the restaurant. The food handling by the staff was below average and could definitely cause cross contamination. Also, the bathroom is filthy and it looks like it hasn’t been properly cleaned in months.

Great experience. I got myself a meal number 2 with Dr Pepper and spicy potatoes, the potatoes were one of a kind. Absolutely amazing. The 2pc chicken and the 3 hot wings were absolutely spectacular and so was the service. I was served by a young teenage boy and not only was he a professional but also a great person to talk to as I was waiting for the food.
