It was pretty good for coffee and we got a few cannoli. The staff were very welcoming. Rick doesn’t really rip us off but he does charge top dollar. The problem is that the cafe is uncomfortable to sit within and the truth of it is it’s not really set up for comfort but it’s priced equivalent to places where folks can relax. I doubt we’ll return to Cornwall again but if we do we’ll give his coffee place a miss.

Visited couple of times for sandwiches…at £11.50 out the chiller cabinet was expecting crab sandwich to be good…but turned out to be lots of shell in it and zero flavour - asked for lemon or salt to liven it up but none available - friend had ham salad sandwich which was totally tasteless as well - average quality ingredients at best no seasoning I’ve had better from local petrol station at half the cost - Given the Stein brand expect to pay but also expect quality , imagination and tasty result - would not bother again - ps staff very friendly tho

Really lovely lady served me but it went downhill after that. I paid £6.80 for the tiniest coffee I've ever had as a takeaway and the most burnt pain au raisin I've ever seen. We nipped into the cafe to get a bit of food and a coffee and were very disappointed with the food and service. I myself ordered an avocado and hummus bagel, luckily I unwrapped it in the shop whilst waiting for coffee and found no avocado at all on the bagel, it was also very poor quality (see photo). Obviously this was false advertisement so I told the waitress very politely that there was no avocado to which she grabbed it from me and came back 5-10 mins later with the same bagel with some roughly chopped avocado on top. She was rude not offering an apology, just pushed it my direction and moved onto the next customer. Would definitely avoid, there were better options around the corner. We do like Rick stein however his establishments are questionable in my opinion.

You can’t avoid Rick Stein’s establishments when in Padstow, and this is one of his. So a quick coffee we thought…wrong. Whilst this establishment is very small and has no real room for numbers sitting inside, the option is really to take away. Which is no big issue. Well first things first, the coffees are excellent. Great taste, hot and not awfully priced. But, my, the staff really, obviously, don’t want to be there. On two visits, I thought the first might be an aberration, the coffees took an age to arrive, if they actually had more than 2 orders, I’m sure they would really struggle! Aside from the person on the till ( who found it difficult to navigate their system) generally surly and uncommunicative staff. If you need a quick shot of caffeine I’d go elsewhere!

I do love most things that Stein has brought to Padstow. The only negative thing I could say here is this - ( nothing quality related at all mind )Since the shop remodelled, the range of cakes has seemed to got less. Everything is very good. However, on holiday, everyone is partial to tea and afternoon cake! We always used to pop in to see what was available that day and make our minds up later. Treacle tarts, orange zesty things, proper eclairs, raspberry domes, bakewells, pecan tart and hazelnut dacquoise that was unbelievable! So if you're in Padstow for a while the limited range soon gets repetitive. My wife also asks to bring back the Sausage rolls! They were amazing. So very good! Having cycled a great distance up the Camel Trail we were ready for a much looked forward to Rick Stein Pasty. They can be purchased from this patisserie for £3.50 so not cheap; probably about right for a tourist centre. We took them away to the quayside to eat and had to run the gauntlet of the gulls. They can be kept at bay if you keep the food in the bag except when biting the next mouthful off.The taste was good but not above average. I felt that I had eaten my daily allowance of salt by the time I got to the end of it. The one gristly bit was one more than I would have expected from a Stein dish.Would I come back? Yes, probably. The pasty is a 'must do' dish when in Cornwall and these are amongst the best. Hopefully the Steins will check the meat quality before my next visit.

We selected the take out option for two - we had two huge scones and it was so so good! They kept us going for the whole night and into the next day and really reasonably priced xo

Food is great. Shame about the poor customer service. No acknowledgement but managed to carry on chatting when one person was serving a couple. The guy who eventually served me used no pleasantries and had an attitude. He did not seem to understand me and had to keep repeating my request. Despite this did not have a problem returning to his conversation before I had left the shop.
