Stefano's Italian in South Lanarkshire

It put me straight off right away when my soda water and lime came as it was undrinkable. There was so much lime in it, it was sweet and sickly. I asked the waiter could he fill it right up with soda water so it was then I learned they only had bottled soda water. I got another bottle and it was still undrinkable. I had to give it back as I could not drink it. There was no apology, no offer of an alternative and had to pay for it although I did not drink any of it. It is not the way I would treat my customers. For that reason I won't be back.

Visited on 16th Feb for "date night" dinner (when booking had been advised we'd have the table for 2 hours). On arrival at 6pm, was happy to be offered a booth with, again the stipulation that they had it back by 8pm. I should have noticed by the over-attentive service (put an empty glass down and it was lifted within 20 seconds) that they were desperate for the table back, and as soon as we put our forks down at 7:25 they were asking for the table back. This was our "date night" and we continued chatting, only to be reminded twice within 5 minutes that they needed the table. We complained to the waitress who said she "didn't know what was going on". The food was average but overpriced. Needless to say we won't be back.

We went back to Stefano's for a lovely dinner on St Valentine's Day. As usual, the food was excellent; truly value for money. I had minestrone, which I seldom can resist, and my husband had a prawn and mushroom starter. We both had fish for the main, washed down with a lovely chilled Gavi. Consequently, we too full for dessert. The staff are attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The atmosphere is welcoming and we are looking forward to visiting again.

After a difficult spell this year we finally made it back to our favourite local restaurant. Had a wonderful meal as usual and welcoming service as though we were family. Scallops calamari Perfectly prepared steaks with excellent wine. Coffee and liqueur to finish.

Very average. Highly disappointed as we have been trying to book this restaurant for a while now. On arrival we were “squashed” into a table at the window. Imagine someone parking too close to your car and you’ve to be a contortionist to get into it, well a bit like that. Atmosphere was terrible as their was an older couple sitting literally right next to us in the middle of a domestic. Realise this isn’t the restaurant’s fault. Some bread was given to start. This was literally 2 small slices of white bread with butter. Starter- chicken liver pate. With 2 small bits of toast. 1 small piece of lettuce and 2 small bits of tomato. It was ok. I’ve had much better. Partner had the lobster ravioli which was one of the specials. This was served without bread. So I had to forego a piece of my toast so he could eat the sauce with the ravioli which he said was nice. Literally minutes after finishing our starter the mains were brought out. Not good, especially as I wasn’t sitting at the table at the time!! I had the spinach ravioli that was supposed to be served with a creamy mushroom sauce, however it was served with a bland tomato sauce. Very small portion!! My partner had the fillet steak which he’d asked for medium, it was overcooked. The veg was overcooked too. The onion rings were lovely. The waitress dropped my fork on me when lifting the plates away. I did try to have a laugh with her about it rather than getting upset. The place was a bit busier by this time. The toilets need a good clean. I wiped about an inch thick of dust off the toilet roll holder. Nothing special here and wouldn’t rush back. At over £100 for a meal on a Wednesday night it just wasn’t worth it.

Amazing food, wine & service! We absolutely love Stefanos, steak, fish & seafood are our favourites, however great menu to suit all tastes🦞 Great wines, Gavi and Alberino beautiful 🍾🥂 I’d give it 6 stars if I could ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Visited midweek, and despite the restaurant being fairly busy, and only one server being on, we were looked after very well! The food is very tasty! We were recommended to try the deep-fried courgettes and onion spiral. We weren't disappointed! Great selection of food and wine. Chef came out at the end of the evening, which is always a nice touch. We were offered shots of limoncello. Professional and cheerful service from our waiter, Brian. Thanks so much for a lovely evening!

We discovered Stefanos when moving close to the area in the last year and we wanted to try all the local restaurants. Stefanos is by far our number one favourite restaurant that we like to try to go to as often as we can. From the excellent food to the personal and professional service from Brian & the waiting staff we would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Came here on the way to Fort William before starting the 3 Peaks challenge. Fantastic choice! The staff were super friendly and efficient, the food gorgeous and atmosphere convivial. We ate early so we avoided sitting in Glasgow traffic further on our journey. Would highly recommend! Thank you!

Food was incredibly bland! Best item on the menu was the onion rings. The rest awful! How an Italian gets a bolognaise wrong is beyond me! Service was excellent though.

Our first time in stefanos and it won't be our last. The food was amazing and staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very relaxed atmosphere, we had a very enjoyable evening.

Enjoyed my recent visit so much that when l was arranging to meet up with the girls for lunch l immediately suggested Stefano’s. The lunch set menu is more than ample and we ended up taking the desserts home for the boys. The midweek atmosphere is relaxed and the food is just lovely. It’s authentic Italian all the way. I had minestrone and the others had bruschetta and tortellini alla panna (which l also tasted- delicious!) and we had the veal and chicken mains and a wee sneaky plate of penne alla Arrabbiata in the middle of the table to share. No wonder we had no room for dessert. I would recommend Stefano’s for dinner and lunch and strongly advise you book as it’s always busy.

This isn’t a modern pasta & pizza Italian. It’s an old school Scottish Italian that used to be everywhere. Sadly few of them remain but Stefanos is a delightful trip back in time with fabulous food, amazing staff, a lovely atmosphere and an almost family feeling. It made me nostalgic for places like L’Ariosta and others, all long since gone.

Fantastic fresh quality produce cooked to perfection doesn’t matter what you order this chef will deliver Michelin star food to your table . My favourite starter is the calamari cooked to perfection . Try the chef’s specials which change on a daily basis you won’t be disappointed. I must mention the waiters and waitresses who are always smartly dressed and are very knowledgeable regarding the cuisine 10 out of 10 guy’s keep up the fantastic service .

Lovely restaurant, Stefano runs a great little place with good food and service.

We had a lovely afternoon with the family at Stefano's celebrating both a birthday and 40th wedding anniversary. The staff were friendly and the service, especially for our grandchildren, was prompt. The food was first class (lobster ravioli and veal - what's not to like?!!!) and the choice of wines excellent. Although this is a small restaurant, it was busy and the atmosphere was warm, friendly and inviting. It's been a while since we dined at Stefano's, but it won't be too long before we are back. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!

Made an online enquiry about a reservation. No response. Phoned to confirm if they had received the enquiry and was told that it was impossible for me to have booked anything online. I explained I had simply made an enquiry and was looking to confirm either way - only to be met with an argument and list of reasons why I couldn't have filled in an enquiry on their website. Attitude of the staff absolutely appalling. Had hoped to go out and support a local business but will not now ever give our business to this restaurant.

Stefanos must still be one of if not THE best restaurant in Lanarkshire and every time we visit we are never disappointed. The staff are great and still dress in the old fashioned way, black & white and bow ties which adds to the atmosphere We love it.

An authentic Italian with fantastic food and some great specials. Friendly service to the extent that when we couldn’t get a taxi, Stefano arranged for another table to drop us home. Top class.

We are so lucky to have this restaurant on our doorstep! Hubby and I love this place and we have grown accustomed to ordering similar dishes. Their Saltimbocca is literally amazing, and hubby loves their fillet dishes. As usual, the bottle of Lugana was outstanding. Love this place and what a hidden gem!

An absolute pleasure to visit. The staff are attentive yet unobtrusive and friendly. The food is, quite honestly, unbelievable. I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a meal. It is quite pricey, but you really do get what you pay for. A small and intimate setting, test catered for 11 of us this evening and made it a fantastic evening.

Despite living close to the area for a number of years this was my first time eating in this restaurant. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were absolutely spot on. Not too much but not too little. We were welcomed into the restaurant by our host Brian who was excellent and provided us with friendly chat and along with the other waitress kept our glasses filled all night. The food was lovely and the night flowed well with no long waits and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant. I’ll definitely be back.

Worst meal I have had in a long time pasta was bland and hard and cooked in the microwave heard the ping of the microwave then the plate arrived roasting round the edges, pasta was hard when we complained we could hear the chef (Stefano ) saying nothing wrong with it also when ordering pasta we asked for some chicken to be added to it was told that we couldn’t get it as Stefano says it’s offensive to put chicken in pasta (I find it offensive to put pasta in the microwave in a restaurant) never known an Italian restaurant not to do garlic bread or focaccia or even a pizza 🍕 🤢

I was fortunate enough to be given a voucher to visit this restaurant. I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed. Despite being an almost local restaurant, I had never visited before this visit. On entering I was pleasantly surprised by the layout of the restaurant. It’s not the biggest of places, but I suspect it can handle around 24 customers, over a mix of 2 seat booths and 4 person tables. The decor is simple and adds to the atmosphere of the premises. We were met at the entrance by the waitress on duty, she was immediately very friendly, took our details and temperature’s. We were then led to one of the booths which are very good for couples. The menu has a mix of meat dishes, pasta dishes and fish dishes, plus starters. The selection of choices is of perfect size. The waitress (I am sorry not to remember her name) also talked through the specials available. I don’t want to go to deeply into what we ordered, but I can highly recommend the lobster ravioli 😋 . Our entire order of starters, mains and desserts were wonderful, my partner recommends the chefs own made tiramisu. There is also a really nice wine menu available. Stefanos is definitely well worth a visit, and we will definitely be returning. My thanks to Stef, chef and owner, who made us a wonderful meal and also took the time to leave the kitchen to come over and speak with us. And also many thanks to our waitress who was simply wonderful.

Well laid out as far as the covid 19 regulations allow ,temperatures taken by staff on entering,it always was a nice cozy restuarant and still is.Stephano the chef proprietor is still at the helm turning out excellent food from a varied menu,his young staff are friendly,polite and helpful ,time and circumstances had prevented us from coming back after being regulars some years back so we are hoping to remedy this.

First time at Stefano's while visiting friends in Uddingston. Absolutely delicious meal. The lemon sole was mouth watering and the tiramisu was the best I have ever had. It was homemade and melted in the mouth. The young waiter and waitress were very friendly and seemed to actually enjoy their job. Very highly recommend this place.

Stefanos offer excellent Italian quisine particularly their seafood. Staff are attentive and their menu is competitively priced, I would recommend a visit.

Best Italian restaurant on the East Side of Glasgow.

First time out in Uddingston and with good selection of restaurants within 5 mins of train station we decided to try Stephanos first. Later reservations werent available so took the 5PM slot. Restaurant is small with about 16 covers. We were sat center on table...

Great friendly service. Food was very anglo-italian. Authenticity of dishes was not at the heart of the menu. Meats were ok quality but perhaps not the best. Raviolis lack the core ingredients as we found little to no trace of prawn within - still tasty. Perfectly cooked veg on the side. Nice wines at reasonable prices. Cosy little place.

It’s been said already but amazing ! Took the family there service is fantastic and the food is tremendous, We all had something from the specials board and it didn’t disappoint.

Met up with some friends, none of us had been before. Staff were lovely and very attentive without being intrusive, food was excellent and all reasonably priced. It's a small room which adds to the intimate atmosphere, will definitely go again.
