Superb food, friendly, relaxed, and diligent staff and a comfortable vibe. Would recommend it to anyone. Good value.

Friendly staff and good service . Tasty food. We enjoyed our meal in a friendly atmosphere.

Short version – 10/10 Food was wonderful, blown away. Staff were so friendly and offered great service, top notch. Long version: My daughter started working there a few weeks ago. She impressed upon us how good the food was and how they made it all from scratch. She also told us how welcoming and knowledgable all the staff were and how excited she was to work there. My daughter told us about the menu and sounded right up our street. So we booked a table for a Saturday afternoon, to try it out. We don’t really visit Uddingston too often, we live about 10 miles away and have good eateries close by. So hadn’t even seen the restaurant. Easy to get to on the main street and we got parked just round the corner. We got greeted straight away and were seated in a nice table for two at the window. The décor and ambience of the place was very nice. The staff were smily and open which is always a good sign. For starters there was a special of King Scallops, with Asparagus, chorizo and bacon, which I went for and the good lady wife choosing the Chicken and Duck liver parfait with caramelized onion with toasted brioche. The Scallop dish was amazing. I’m going to make the first of 2 comparisons to the ‘Come dine with me’ series. I have had Scallops only twice before and a long time ago, they were nice but that's all I can remember. In ‘Come dine with me’ hosts were forever getting slaughtered for cooking them too long, making them tough. At Smiths I reckon I got them exactly how they were supposed to be cooked. They were tender and succulent, slightly seared and tasty as you would like. Went so swell with the rest of the dish, absolute dynamite. I didn’t get a taste of the wifes parfait (its not my cup of tea) but the good lady scoffed it all with not a crumb left on the dish. She really enjoyed it. My daughter had put forward a recommendation to us to try the blade of beef in particular as that came with the mashed potato that she stated was outstanding. The good lady went for this, I was humming over getting the steak, but hey I have had steak plenty of places and its very specific and cooked on the spot, but wanted to to try something from the main menu. I went for chicken breast which was lightly smoked and roasted, with glazed carrot, roast Thyme gravy and Arran mustard crushed potatoes. Second reference to come dine with me. They always slam the host for the chicken don’t they? Too tough, dried out, or even worse, the dreaded pink. Oh not at Smiths. Wow, eye opener, this is how chicken is supposed to be cooked. Hands down in 52 years on this planet eating solid food, that chicken on Saturday was the best I have ever tasted. It honestly was something else. I need to look at how I cook chicken because it aint like this. The delicate smoky taste through the succulent breast. It was a wonderful sized portion and the potatoes, my ow my, these were outstanding. The mash which I sampled from my Mrs plate was very good, but the Arran mustard crushed variant with spring onions mixed through it – wowee, absolutely splendid. I had a go at the good ladies dish. It was a slow braised feather blade of Scotch beef in a rich red wine jus. Tender as a kiss from an angel, beautiful. Plates scoffed, almost licked clean. For desert the waitress recommended the Vanilla Rice pudding with Rhubarb, apple and ginger crumble topping, as it was her favourite and described it as a ‘warm hug’ and who doesn’t like a warm hug? We were tempted to get two of these, but I fancied trying something else out on the menu, knowing fine well I would be stealing a bit of my ladies ‘warm hug’, so went for the nutella cheesecake with Pistachio ice cream with a raspberry coulis. Wonderful combination it was as well. Fabulous and so delicious. I did have a couple of spoonfuls of the rice crumble dish, this was superb as well. The rice, so creamy, the crumble so tasty. Not a scrap left on any of hour plates on any of the courses. Magical experience and would thoroughly recommend.

Great food with amazing taste and quality

The food is of excellent quality. Cooking is as you'd expect top notch as is the plating. We just felt on flavour it felt a bit flat. Absolutely nothing to complain about but similarily nothing to rave about. A great establishment but would benefit from boosting flavour profiles.

Booked smiths for 19th November for a special birthday celebration for my wife’s birthday, 10 adults 2children. The layout was superb,the atmosphere-superb ,the food -superb and the staff spotlessly clean, courteous and attentive. We had a fantastic occasion with the food being the star of the evening ,, thank you Smiths ,you will be seeing a lot more of us!!

The quality and flavour of the food is amazing. Have been multiple times the service is great food is delicious. The menu changes every few weeks too

From the moment we walked in, I was impressed by the ambiance and attention to detail. The food was absolutely outstanding - every bite was bursting with flavour and expertly prepared. Not only that, but the service was impeccable. Our server, without a doubt, was the epitome of excellence. She anticipated our needs effortlessly and ensured that our dining experience was flawless from start to finish. Whether it was promptly refilling our cups or ensuring that our orders were delivered exactly as requested, she went above and beyond to create an exceptional dining experience for us. It's rare to find such dedicated and attentive service in today's fast-paced world, and I must say that she set the bar incredibly high. I highly recommend the Smiths to anyone looking for a memorable evening filled with delectable cuisine and top-notch service. It truly is an excellent place for dinner and drinks in Uddingston.

The food was outstanding and incredibly good value for money. This is real city-centre quality and as good as anything I have had in Glasgow or London Service from for young staff was professional and first class. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere in a comfortable room.

Amazing service, food was very good.

On the Main Street of Uddingston (near train station). Interesting menu, 3 course £30 and 2 course £25. Party of four, had pate with brioche and scallops with black pudding to start. The scallops had £6 surcharge, only two scallops but superb. For main we had a beef blade with roasted veg and baked cod (one cod made gluten free) with chowder. Really nice. For dessert ice cream which was good and the cheese platen(£3 supplement). Two glasses pinot Grigio and two glass house Spanish rose. Both excellent. I knocked off a star for the cheese plate. Everything else was super, but the cheese was too cold and tasted like supermarket. No names given for what was served. It was disappointing. We should have had the desert. A great meal and well worth a visit. £143 without tip, added 10 %

Fabulous & welcoming, beautiful food cooked perfectly. Were very willing to adjust my main course dauphinoise potatoes replacing with a butternut squash & mushroom risotto. Unbelievable value, stunning quality at very reasonable price.

Came to visit family after we arrived from a trip to New York. What a fantastic place to eat. Food was amazing and cannot bieve a three course meal was only £25. The staff are so accommodating. I have nothing but praise and cannot wait to come back to visit. A huge thank you to everyone that works there

I won a charity voucher for here and had no idea what I was in for. Needless to say, I was absolutely delighted with the quality of food here. Friendly professional staff and the lunch menu was absolutely top drawer. Would go back in a heartbeat!

I was over from the States and a couple colleagues from work took me here. I really enjoyed the food. It was cozy with a nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend anyone who hasn't been to give Smiths a try.

Really like this wee place. Nice decor, relaxed, popular (good sign) and good, friendly service (up until we wanted to pay, and then the waitress disappeared, but we'll forgive them this once). Menu has enough variety to suit most, and at very reasonable prices for 2/3 courses. And most importantly, the food is really good! I decided to go for the Steak Frites, which turned out to be an excellent decision. Cooked medium-rare to perfection, complemented by a well prepared peppercorn sauce, and delicious fries. Worth the extra!

We visited Smiths last night, we didn't realise it was only a set menu that was available. I'm pescatarian and initially struggled for a starter. However, the waitress was lovely and asked me what I would like made. She duly obliged and was so attentive. The food, atmosphere and staff were excellent and the quality of food was exceptional. Overall we had such a lovely time for our anniversary.

Good food, good service at a good price.

The food was OK but nothing special. I had the feeling it was prepared by someone fresh out of catering college. The restaurant is small and pokey. I will not be going back.

Phoned ahead and asked if they could do vegan. They were so helpful, had a vegan menu made up for me and even had vegan bread. I had 3 courses, beetroot and onion style starter, gnocci and a chocolate and raspberry dessert. All were delicious. My partner had the vegan harissa cous cous which was delicious too. The two meat eaters were really pleased with their food too. I would definitely go again.

Food was exceptional, staff extremely friendly, lovely atmosphere, well looked after. Will definately be back, with our 7 year old next time, as the kids menu also has an option for the braised blade of beef (would highly recommend).

Had a wonderful family lunch, normal high standard of food. Nice atmosphere there was no rush, the staff gave you plenty of time to enjoy each course.

As ever the experience was excellent. We went out mid week having pre-booked on line. Clear cancellation and cost instructions given should things have gone wrong where given pre confirmation. Sample menus are also available. As portions are generous we opted for a main and dessert. The beef was mouthwatering. The cheeseboard was a lovely selection of cheeses, crackers, and accompaniments and the sticky toffee was a triumph apparently also. It's always a delight to eat there, and other guests were clearly enjoying their selections also. Thanks as always.
