Steam Passage Tavern in Islington

I don't normally leave reviews but I felt like I had to with this place. Me and my partner are deaf so are struggling when we go out due to the facemasks and not being able to read lips which can be frustrating for us and the people dealing with us. But I must yes that Juno did a fantastic job dealing with us. She was helpful, kind, patient and made us feel at ease and welcome we will definitely come back again when we're in the area. Thank Juno so much Juno

Went for a pre dinner drink it was a nice pub with full COVID rules. Has some outside seats and nice ales. An example, like many and not the fault of this pub of the strangeness of normal activity in the time of COVID

Popped in before an appointment nearby and was very pleased with the service.The lady as I entered explained all the Covid related things I had to do (a few times too as I was confused!)and it was very friendly and good service...toilets were spotlessly clean

This place really isn’t for me as I’m not into beer or sports. I was pleasantly surprised to come and visit with my brother and his friends to watch an England Ireland rugby match. The atmosphere was great and no tension. It was fun.

The place was clean and very welcoming, it was open mic night after all, bar staff were friendly, plus quality of the beer was really good. Tables are named after former players of the gunners, a nice way to celebrate their heroes. Very clean, lots of tables and loads of TVs ready for sporting events We only planned to come in for a pint but stayed here all night, we had been traveling all day and a quick bite to eat, beer then bed turned into more than just one beer. Beer is good, with a nice selection of ales, reasonably priced for London to, will return next time we are in the area.

Disgusting service. Went there with my brother who is mentally disabled - they would not let him sit with us and drink a glass of water. Threatened to call the police and badgered us to leave even though we paid for our drinks. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Fui a tomar una copa navideña con amigos la semana pasada y tengo que decir que me decepcionó la falta de decoraciones navideñas, sí, había un árbol y algunas luces, pero eso fue todo. ¡Deberían haber llamado a quien haya decorado el año pasado o al que haya decorado para Halloween porque fue increíble!Tampoco eran bebidas de Navidad, ni vino caliente ni sidra caliente, PERO. . . ¡Estaba Juno! Se había esforzado por lucir navideña, se veía fantástica con su atuendo navideño, estaba súper alegre, sonrisas grandes, realmente se disculpó por la falta de vino caliente y sidra, nos dio una galleta navideña para sacar y terminamos de olvidar. Buen trabajo Juno.

Popped in here Saturday evening as in area and not been here for over 20 years! Lovely vibe and very chilled! Lots of tvs so the football was on! Great atmosphere and so glad we popped in! Will be back and highly recommend 🍺

Myself and my partner Dan were in Islington for wedding and we were looking for somewhere to relax and have something to eat the day before October 31st. so we took to TripAdvisor and spotted the feedback about a blue angel this peaked our interest and we went in and Juno was there all dressed up like vampire although not as blue (although she has reassured us that it will be all blue again soon) She was helpful, polite and very funny, she recommended what food we should have and we were not disappointed. We'll be back!

Very friendly welcome and good service. Reasonably priced food just a shame out of most of the vegan options on the menu. Consoled myself with the thought meat-free options are more popular - not a bad thing. Vegan and meat eaters all enjoyed their burgers. Will return

Great pub right in the bustling centre of Angel. Always busy at weekends, especially when there are sports on. Nice staff, only let down was the food. Wasn’t great for the price. Still worth a visit though.

Come to Steam Passage severak times a week as I work close by. Food is excellent value. All staff I've encountered deliver outstanding service. Quick, polite, proficient, helpful and friendly. Can't recommend enough.

We visited early on a Sunday afternoon. It very quickly got busier and rowdier once a football game started! There were a few outdoor tables catching the sun. Its near the road, but not so close you can't hear each other talking. The bartender was very friendly and prices ok. Good selection of biters on tap, but several were out. 2 barrels needed changing, but after 2hrs, they were still empty! Not somewhere I'd stay all day, but fine for a few drinks.

came in with my boyfriend and we literally only came in for 1 drink and ended up staying for about 2-3hours. we were sat in the back booth and the music the lights were perfect. the two girls that served us Tia and Juno were very nice and we had good conversations. felt very welcome

i went to the bar with one of my good friends and i didnt expect myself to stay so long. the atmosphere was amazing and the service from staff was exceptional. i was made to feel very welcome by the barmaid called Tia. the food is exceptional and i have now become a regular and invite all my friends. also the DJ is sick

Thanks to Nessav99 I now know the ladies name. On Monday my wife and I stopped off for a quick drink in the steam passage, we sat outside and a very nice lady called Juno came out to clear and wipe tables. She smiled, asked us how we were doing, we had a little chat and she went back inside.

The beer I chose was off, and when I complained I was told it shouldn’t have been served. We ordered meals, but two choices were unavailable. Some food came out luke warm, and we had to ask for gravy to be reheated. Nachos ordered as a starter came out with the mains. The food was unappetising. No-one came to ask if all was OK. There was a general air of disorganisation. OK for a drink if the beer’s not off but not recommended for food. Even for a chain pub the food was poor.

Great atmosphere not to mention the Friday team , Tia is the life of the steam, good music cheap drinks an not to mention it’s free entry how. ?

Entré en el pasillo de vapor para comer algo con mi novio. Mientras estaba sentada afuera comiendo nuestro desayuno durante todo el día, que era encantador, la señora de cabello azul, creo que se llama Juno (de leer otras críticas) salió 2 vasos grandes de agua con hielo para 2 hombres sin hogar se sentó en la calle superior que había visto sentado en 2 extremos diferentes del camino.

Came here Saturday to watch the football what a great atmosphere we got sharing platters which were so nice and great value everyone had a laugh and would highly recommend this pub to anyone looking for a place to eat or watch sports

A couple of weeks ago me and my sisters took mum for a birthday meal and we were served by a lovely young lady with fabulous blue hair called Juno.

The bar staff were great when we popped in for lunch. We ordered drinks and then chose and ordered food. An hour later we were still waiting for our food. The poor woman behind the bar was so overstretched. In the end she apologised and gave us our money back. Staffing levels are completely inadequate. Don't bother, there are much better places nearby.

We visited the steam passage last Friday and it was excellent! There’s a quality selection of beers on draft including snake oil which is incredible! (I believe it’s the only place in London you can get this on draft) I also think the expresso martini is the best I’ve ever had!! the staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you. Food is very good and arrived within minutes. They have screens all round the pub so perfect for any day/night watching football or any sport tbf. I hear they do theme nights which sound great so we’ll have to give that a try. We’ll definitely be back soon anyway! Thanks for a great day.

My friend and I was in the area, and as the streets were busy we decided on an early lunch before the crowds set in. I ordered fish and chips and my friend ordered a steak and ale pie. When it arrived my friend said he was going to have to send his pie back because it was overcooked and not very nice. My fish and chips was just ok nothing special in fact the chips were very average. I had finished my meal before my friend had received his second offering, which is not good when having a catch up with an old friend. The pie second time round was better but not great but at least it was edible.

Amazing venue We went on Friday and the music was amazing, the drinks were so cheap and the staff were great Very busy but still had areas to chill out in aswell. We're coming back ever week Coukdnt believe it was free entry aswell

Ordered breakfast and clearly forgotten about (and literally only 5 people sat in the pub). Order for one hadn’t been put through properly, then arrived half an hour later missing a side, scrambled eggs were grey and were the remnants scraped off the cooker, bacon also mixed with burnt ash and egg ‘muffin’ arrived inside a burger bun

Came here for drinks on Monday to relax with some friends and thought it was a great pub. Food is great and well-priced and our bartender Will was really friendly. Its always nice to be able to have a decent chat with people at the bar while waiting for drinks.

Me and my flatmates visited the steam passage every Monday whilst game of thrones was being shown - such a fun pub, lovely staff and great service - shout out to Will for always serving us with a smile

Decent spot, always got the football on, good service from the staff especially Will, certainly a good place to just relax. I will end up coming again.

We are off to a wedding, staying at premier inn in Islington. We needed some lunch and popped into here as v close. We couldn’t have chosen better. Amazing customer service and food is great value. Definitely worth a visit.

Más bebidas de cumpleaños,? pero una vez más, no hay Doom Bar para el marido, ya que el subdirector está demasiado ocupado para limpiar la línea. ¿Qué sucede con la limpieza de las tuberías antes de comenzar el negocio? Además, solo lleva 10 minutos limpiar la línea. Pero el subjefe, una hora y media después, termina su turno y se fue sin limpiar la línea o cambiar el cañón. Recibí un cupón de @Stonegate para una bebida de cumpleaños, pero no puedo usarlo mientras bebo Pino. Pub se está convirtiendo en una broma. ¿Empezando a pensar? No quieren clientes habituales, ya que no nos tratan bien. Y en cuanto a la actitud de la subdirectora, absolutamente apesta, incluso otro cliente comentó sobre su actitud. ! ! En el lado positivo, el personal del bar es servicial y amable.

Came here for drinks after work on Friday and what a lovely pub. When we was at the bar ordering landlord appears with roast potatoes to put on bar for the customers really old school thing to do but little touches like that make a difference. Staff were lovely to could have a laugh and joke with them. This will now be our Friday night pub.

I ordered a fish & chips today (Friday) without any supplement. I paid £9.99. At the table I noticed that they had an offer on Friday for fish & chips at £6.99 with one drink. I spoke to the manager as they should let me know this offer when I ordered but she said you didn’t order a drink that’s why she didn’t apply the promotion. Very bad service

The Steam passage is a really Lovely pub with a great atmosphere and the food was good too. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had a great evening well worth a visit.

I popped into the Steam Passage to rest my feet after an afternoon of trawling the high street. Warm, friendly welcome, great service, reasonably priced, I had a lovely experience and would definitely recommend this pub! :-)

I'm new to the area and decided to try out the Steam Passage and wasn't disappointed. What with the friendly staff and warm atmosphere I will definitely be using it again.

Best place to watch Football or rugby, smiley staff and very young and friendly landlady. Outside area with 5 tables, Mens toilet very clean and posters on the walls with future events and sport fixtures. Classic pub food and large variety of craft beers.

Visitamos con amigos y decidimos encontrarnos allí antes de ir a reservar en un restaurante brasileño cercano. El personal del bar era muy amable, el ambiente era muy bueno y nos sentimos bienvenidos.

Very friendly. All hand pulled ales £2.50 per pint on a Tuesday and you get asked for your choice of glass! In central London! Bonzer! Meal and beer deals look to be good value too! Seating area out front. Ideal man creche!

Un classico pub inglese, tantissimi tipi di birra, partite di calcio trasmesse sui televisori ed una cucina da pub con classici piatti da pub. Ma procediamo con metodo. Il personale non parla italiano, ma è gentile e cortese, locale sempre con luce fiocca e un vociare costante degli avventori, la cucina serve piatti tipici da pub. La sera in cui abbiamo cenato la cucina era un po sfornita di viveri, niente salsicce tipiche o bistecche, ma fish & chips molto buono, anche la tipica beef pie buonissima. Birra a volontà, solo l'imbarazzo della scelta con piu di venti spine diverse. Prezzi molto contenuti rispetto ai ristoranti di zona. una bellissima serate ed una bella esperienza. da provare. P.S. si ordina al bancone si paga e arriva tutto al tavolo.

The Steam Passae Tavern es un pub ubicado junto al Business Design Center y es abierto y acogedor, con muchos toques de cervezas locales y de otro tipo.

Went in for the match, all screens were on with full sound and great viewing. Staff were friendly, loved the lilley's Cider.

If you’re looking for an unpretentious pub on Upper Street to have a reasonably price drink in, with decent background music and lot of available seating – then this is the place. It can get very crowded during big name football matches; however, this is one of the few remaining pubs on Upper Street where you can still watch Arsenal play. I’m not a big football fan myself, but I do find it extraordinary the increasing numbers of Islington pubs that no longer show Arsenal marches.

I stoped here for a quickie on the way home, recently and was not disappointed. Good election of beers on Taylor and by bottle. Well worth a visit if in the area.

El personal del bar apoyado su servicio de comida fría horrible porque él no cocinar la comida que nos esperaba para volver y ser relaced nuestra comida pero cancelaron nuestra orden y se reembolsa ya que habíamos hecho mal. Dos miembros de la compañía tenía su comida de tarde y frío. De ninguna manera lo intento y comer en allí.

Very poor indeed. Two pints of bittter ordered on arrival soon had to be returned as they were disgustingly off. Cloudy and sour, obviously the remains of a barrel which should have been changed several pints earlier, there is simply no excuse for this. Replaced with a different beer which was in just about acceptable condition at best. No apology or expression of concern. Food was disappointing. The ‘Mama Mia pizza pie’ is a modest-sized shortcrust pastry case with a bit of cheese slung into it plus a few other bits. The chips were cheap nasty affairs (oven?). At just short of a tenner, that’s seriously rubbish, and hardly worth the subsequent bout of diarrhoea. I got fleeced and poisoned because I was visiting an area I’m unfamiliar with and went into the first place I saw. I advise you against making a similar mistake.

Good drinks options, good ambiance. Serice was efficient, not overly friendly, but quick and efficient. Lovely Islington Lager on tap. Didn't eat but the food looked really good actually. Had a good time here. Would probably return for a drink or two.

Being in The Business design center / Hilton for 7 days for a conference. The Steam Passage was and is our local. Great pub with good food, beers and atmosphere to boot. Plenty TVs and big screens to watch a variety of sports.

This pub is located next to the Business Design Centre, a large convention venue, as I attended a conference there for one week. It is open and inviting with many taps of local and other beers. Pints are priced nicely. Its menu is surprisingly good/varied for "pub grub", meaning there is a lot more than just pies. It can get very crowded so patience is a virtue. There is a large dining room in the rear and booths and tables along the side, in addition to a nice Upper Street patio and interior tables along the bar. Nice place. Try It.

Did not appreciate my glass being cleared from the table without being asked when there was obviously still some drink left.

No puedo decir que me gustaría ir de nuevo, no es terrible, pero exactamente podría ser mucho mejor. Había dos diferentes partidos de fútbol siendo mostrada en el mismo tiempo, así que con las dos que compiten uno contra el otro era bastante ruidoso, el personal del bar parecía un poco desinteresado. Think I genuinely got 6 chips with my portion... also drinks crazy expensive. The live music was awful. The guy couldn't sing and the sound was terrible.

Es comida de pub, así que nada de lujos, pero bien hecha y sabrosa. Si elige bien desde sus ofertas especiales del día y puedes conseguir un plato de comida decente y una bebida barata.

Nice pub and cosy atmosphere, but may be noisy (music and TV screens), especially when crowded. Service is OK. Some good meal deals (you can add a dessert for just 2 £) and large selection of drinks, although there is no drink menu. Outdoor seating is available, a good option if the weather is nice.

We dived in here and got out of the rain to find a great selection of ciders and beer. Loads of televisions, if you're interested in sport.Good service & atmosphere, and average food. Two of the ciders were too warm as the refridgeration in the cellar had broken.

I visited this pub with my family for breakfast and was outraged by the horrible service. The staff is extremely rude, and the food is also nothing to rave about. This pub is in Angel and it's surrounded by much more welcoming and nicer pubs and cafés. I would not recommend this pub to anyone looking for good food and a good service.

Haven't been to this pub for ages, last time I was here it had dingy wall paper and little atmosphere, now it has a nice look inside, a do playing, lively atmospheres, live sport and good choice of drinks.Staff were friendly and very efficient. Watched football and boxing in here in the big screens.Good choice of booze, prices weren't the cheapest but competitive to other boozers on the road. Will definitely come back when in the area. Vastly improved.

This is my new favourite burger place in London!The staff is extremely friendly and the burgers are really, really good! All at a very affordable price: every weekday they have a special day (burgers is tuesday). I had an awaesome cheese/bacon burger and a pint of guinness, alongside onion rings! I think that withouth the onion rings, iirc, it would have been 6.49 pounds or so - an EXCELLENT deal!Keep it up guys!

Large pub in The Angel on the main road. Very busy and popular with football fans and real ale drinkers. 4 real ales. Doombar serms to be in every pub plus 3 guest ales. They seem to like Cornish ales. Excellent choice of continental biers- Peroni San MiguelStella and Amstel plus the usual bog standard lagers. Lots of seating and loads of room to stand as well as a few tables out front. Sunday roast under £8. Lots of loud tvs showing football. Craft beers in abundance. Hard working friendly staff. All round good pub.

We popped in yet again to have a drink and watch the football. As always service was good even when the bar was busy the staff let you know the would get to you. We ordered a sharing plank to eat so we could share, food was OK, do not expect too much from a pub but it was fine, however, it said the chicken wings came with a hot sauce, it did not say said sauce would send your mouth to A&E, fry your brains and strip the paint from the walls!!! I have eaten in Mexico, India, Sri Lanka and others and this really took my breath away, be warned some like it hot but Marilyn would sure have lifted her skirt if she tasted this

went there for lunch .ordered from a staff member at the bar who was coughing ,wheezing and s-pluttering obviously suffering from a heavy cold .she was wiping her nose and then serving drinks !!!ordered meal and it took 55 minutes to arrive and when it did it was Greasy and not very appealing .not much sincerity in the apology for the delay ! it was not that busy and now i can see why .i would not go there again .

Ovet the past four years we have visited The Steam Packet say twice or three times a year on our visits to Islington. We are afternoon visitors and always have a meal and a drink. For the location, price and quality of food I can't fault it. Additionally the staff have always been pleasent and polite and the premises clean and comfortable.

Called in here for an evening meal. Was busy with drinkers, but not overly busy with diners.Placed our order at the bar, no mention of any delay and then we waited and waited for over 40 minutes before going to enquire, to be told after another 10 minute wait that it was "On it's way now" - another 15 minutes go past and we're just about to go and ask to speak to the manager as the meals are brought to us. Meals were warm (But not hot), like they'd been sitting on the side for a while. We decided just to eat up and leave, and vowed never to return.Would we return? Nope.

Me and a friend came here after work for some food. Great pub, lovely atmosphere and the food was great. We had sharer plates, you can mix and match for a set price depending on what you want. Think tapas but English style :) The prices were great too, cheap to eat but food quality is perfect. We will definitely return!

Fish & chips was overcooked,salt was missing from all the food and it took too long to get the food.

The pub decor gives the whiff of another pub chain. However there is a fine selection of beers on offer at reasonable prices. Atmosphere was good and there are plenty of seats to sit yourself down.

Wouldn't recommend to anyone, the greeting of the staff towards myself and my peers was similar to the reception Jack Sparrow received when he arrived in Port Royal in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film. We encountered rude bar staff when we enquired about the incorrect opening hours. Food was cold when it finally came out (don't go for the sausages) and the service very sub-standard.A generous 3 out of 10.

For a start incorrect opening hours displayed. The bartenders service, I've had better in a service station fast food place. Rude mannered and grunted like a Neanderthal when the food came out cold and I asked for new hot breakfast. Which gets me to breakfast, came out cold for starters. The new breakfast that came out was clearly microwaved or put under the hot plate. Not even fresh eggs, I would rather have eaten my shoe than that breakfast.

Came for a breakfast on a Sunday morning, cold sausages, scrambled egg when I asked for poached all mixed with dreadful service. Honestly not a worse pub meal I've had.

Myself and a couple of friends went for Sunday AM breakfast. Met with rude service and food 90 mins late. When i told the supervisor that my sausages were pink in the middle he replied "does it really matter what colour they are?". Will not be going again.

Went here with family after work last Friday. They had a really good deal for £7.99 (being a burger, chips and a drink of your choice). Really good value and it was really rather nice :0) Bar staff super friendly. Toilets really clean. Nice place all round.

Great value lunch. Worth every penny.Only problem was if you don't like loud TV coverage of the rugby don't go in as the landlord would not turn the volume down ,if we had not order our food we would have left as it was very uncomfortable as the 4+TVs very loud , apart from that great pub.

We dined here twice during our 3 night stay in London as it was a short walk from out hotel (Hilton Islington). Good choice of food served quickly. Staff friendly. Would dine here again.

Jantamos no pub e tomamos algumas cervejas. O pub tem mais de 10 torneiras de cervejas locais, as duas que provamos eram muito boas. Minha esposa pediu uma salada e eu um combo de comida mexicana, vieram 5 pequenos pratos muito bem temperados , o que se tornou até comida demais para um casal. A comida mexicana serve bem duas pessoas. Pedimos 2 pratos porque pensamos que a comida mexicana seria pouca quantidade, visto que o valor estava abaixo dos demais restaurantes que fomos em Londres. Resumindo, uma boa opção próximo à estação angel.
